Plus that way I can make sure of what ingredients are used. The thing is I don't really know what the gloop is. I presume a large part is mashed fruit and vegetables but is there anything I definately shouldn't put in it. Does anyone have a tried and tested recipe for homemade baby food?

Want to make homemade baby food but don't know what gadget to get?? I want to feed my second child homemade baby food when he is ready because it is cheaper and more nutritional. The only problem is I don't know what gadget to get. I want something that will make food for all the stages, pureed for just starting out all the way up to chunky (like stage 3 baby food). I have a blender but it only blends what is around the blade and anything not directly in the path of the blade just sits there while the blade spins. Any good blenders or gadgets that you know of (from experience preferably) that will do the job? I don't have a whole lot of money to spend on the gadge either. Thanks in advance! To some of those who said they used a food processor for their children, especially one from Wal-Mart, any recommendations on which one to get? Which model have you had success with so I have an idea of what to get? Thanks so much!

Which is healthier: Organic baby food from jars or homemade food made out of conventionally grown ingredients? I am asking this because sometimes I can't find organic fruits, vegetables or meats in the stores. Or sometimes I can find them but they are so expensive that the baby food jars--even organic ones--turn out being significantly cheaper. What is your opinion of the healthier option? Total Recipe Hound: No, what I meant is that sometimes I can't find the organic ingredients to make the baby food at home. Gerber food is always available. But if Gerber is always made out of organic ingredients, then why do they have a separate organic line?
