Earth S Best Organic Baby Food Knowledge Base
Difference between Earth's best and making your own baby food? I read the ingredients of the Earth's best organic baby food and it said it was just organic apples and vitamin C. So what is the difference between this and making your own? It had no preservatives and none of the other things put in regular baby food. I'm torn in my deicision of which to do and I really don't see what is so bad about giving jarred if it's organic???
Earth's Best Organic Baby Food? I think my little one will be starting solids soon...so I am researching different brands and offerings. What attracted my eye is Earth's Best Organic jarred baby foods. 1. What was your experience with this? Did the baby like it? 2. When did you start your baby on it? 3. Does it taste or smell funny? 4. Is it o' so different from the other commercial (non-organic) brands?
BABY FOOD: Earth's Best or Gerber Organic? Which do/did you prefer??? I'm starting my baby girl on fruit and I got both Earth's Best First Apples and Gerber Organic Applesauce- I want to try both and also taste them myself. Just wanted some input from other Mommies! Thank you! Becca12679- Wow! I didn't know that! Very interesting! Thank you!
earth's best baby food jars ? Earth's best organic foods contain too much salt and my son does not like those anymore... Is it something or some other brand that does not have high sodium ...he is having other problems such as UTI and more... how can I stop that from happening ??
How many jars are in a case of baby food? I'm doing an project where I need to know the amount of jars in a case of Organic Baby baby food, as well as for Earth's Best baby food. Does anyone know how many jars would be in these cases?
Organic baby food vs. variety? I have been feeding my daughter organic baby food. I wanted to go organic for the first year just to atleast get her on a good start. She is now starting "2nd foods" and when I went to the super market today I noticed that the variety of organic 2nd foods (of all organic brands, not just gerber) was much less than the non organic foods. Basically there were like 10 organic second foods to choose from and about 50 non organic second foods. I went on gerber and earth's best's websites and they just don't make as much variety in the 2nd foods in organic as they do in non organic foods. So although I wanted to do organic I am also very concerned about my daughter experiencing a variety of foods so that she will not be a picky eater (like my husband who eats chicken for every meal!). So thanks for reading through this long question, basically I'm asking do you think it's more important to go the organic route or is it more important to introduce her to a variety of foods early? Please no suggestions about making my own baby food please. I have no intentions of making my own! Thanks!
Organic baby food question? Even though our 6mo's ped. told us to introduce foods around 4 months, we delayed it for a month and she's been eating wonderfully, she really likes veggies! But now I've been reading we should be giving her meats now and her ped. said to as well. But I feel like I should continue to introduce her to one new thing a week still... Can you mix introducing meat with a new vegetable/fruit? Are there allergy risks? And does anyone know of an organic brand that makes meat? I was on Gerber's site and didn't see any, didn't check Earth's Best... I personally make all her food, but jars are convenient if I forget to pack her bag with something. Sorry I should have added that I have a personal history of allergies form birth, so I'm being cautious with her. And yes I feel VERY strongly about organic foods. I wouldn't let her play in a field that has been sprayed with chemicals, why would I let her (or anybody!) eat from that field! There is a reason cancer rates have increased, there is a reason girls are getting their periods younger and younger, there is a reason sickness across the board has been rising and it's from us eating CRAP.
What's the difference jarred baby food and making your own? I'm not trying to be controversial, and no links please, I'm just trying to understand. But I was wonder, for those who are advocates of making your own pureed baby food or advocates of jarred baby food. If I buy an organic baby food, let's say Earth's Best 2nd food Carrots all it has in it is organic carrots and water (as per the ingrediants on the jar) how is that much different from making my own pureed baby food? I'm just trying to get clear on the issue so thanks in advance. PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE QUESTION! People keep saying "cause no preseratives", in my details I stated a brand that is preserative free.
Anyone ever try Earth's Best Organic formula? My eight month old daughter has been exclusively breastfed. I KNOW she's not nursing/intaking as much breastmilk as she used to, because she only nurses for about five minutes and then she's done. She also eats quite a bit of solids. I can only pump about an ounce of milk every three hours. My husband and I have some things coming up this month where we'd like to leave our daughter with Grandma for a few hours. Seeing as how the pumping ain't as easy as it used to be, and baby girl would only be having maybe one bottle while we were gone, I'd like to use an organic formula to mix with whatever breastmilk I could squeeze out. I only feed her organic foods, so I'd like to continue with organics in whatever she's consuming. Sorry, that was kinda rambling. I guess I'd like to know if... a. anyone's tried the Earth's Best brand b. how their babies reacted to it c. tips on getting her used to the taste Thanks in advance! sweetskittlzbby: I wanted to go organic because of the lack of pesticides, that's all. And I kinda have a deep distrust for mainstream formula companies. jennalu: ? I don't know how that relates to my question. I'm asking about infant formula. And we eat organic as well, soooo... parental unit: I thought babies weren't supposed to have straight milk of any other mamallian kind until at least one year. Has your baby had goat's milk?
Strawberry baby food?!? I was shopping for my daughter's baby food and noticed that Earth's Best Organics makes a food with organic strawberries in it. I thought you weren't supposed to give strawberries to babies? I'm confused.
Feeding organic Earth's Best stage three foods? My eight month old loves her organic earth's best fruits and veggies. I noticed that my Nanny opened a bottle of the Stage 3 soup (which you're not supposed to give until 9 months, says the company). I asked her not to give that to her yet and told her I preferred waiting until she reached 9 months. (The jar says for babies who are comfortable chewing and the only thing my daughter chews are her toys.) Is it too soon for her to eat the stage 3 foods? I'm going to wait until she reaches 9 months for sure as I feel this is best no matter what the responses, but am just curious as to general feedback on this question. Thanks!
What's up with all the food recalls lately? Now it's cooked chicken!? The chicken breast recall is the fourth food recall in a week. Fresh cantaloupe and selected jars of organic baby food were recalled late Friday, and a major recall of peanut butter was initiated late Wednesday after 300 people in 39 states were sickened. With the cantaloupes and peanut butter, the culprit was salmonella. The baby food was contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, which can cause botulism. Both are life-threatening illnesses. And the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned consumers late Friday not to use certain jars of Earth's Best Organic 2 Apple Peach Barley Wholesome Breakfast baby food because they may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum,, a life-threatening illness. http://health.msn.com/dietfitness/articlepage.aspx?cp-documentid=100156377>1=9033 Check out the link I posted Bekawa it talks about the chicken.
Beech Nut -- Organic or Not? After researching this website for my question above, I found an old resolved question that indicated all moms believed Beech Nut to be organic and were happily feeding it to their babies. I investigated a little further by writting to the company direclty, and here's the answer I received: "Dear Ms. Gillies, Thank you for writing. Beech-Nut products are not certified organic. As part of our commitment to giving babies a healthy start in life, we've taken a leadership role in keeping pesticide residues to an absolute minimum. Our pesticide standards are significantly stricter than the Federal requirements. In fact, levels in our baby foods are negligible to non-detectable, making our products comparable to those containing organically grown fruits and vegetables. Non-organic and organic commercial baby foods are equally as safe and are equally nutritional." I will stick to Earth's Best, Organic Baby and whatever else I can find at organic markets such as Mrs. Greens. Beware!
Super Baby Food & baby poop 6 mos old? I've been using Super Baby Food as my guide to feed my daughter, but her bowel movements have been irregular since we started. I have successfully introduce her to four different organic, homemade foods over the past six weeks (sweet potato, avacado, baked pears, banana, Earth's Best rice cereal). We stopped the cereal do the natural constipating effect of rice, but it's been weeks and she is still irregular. Just needing some suggstions please. Her pedi said "poop will come"...... But it's never enough... Sorry to be asking about poop, but all you moms and dads know how it is and are potentially as desensitized as I am to the topic! Thanks a mill!!!
Eating baby food? My daughter started eating baby at 4 months old with rice cereal and did great on it then we did the one food at a time till she had tried all the stage one Earths best foods and there were no allergies, well now she eats 3 meals a day with less bottles and she's 6 months old, I thought she was teething because she drools alot and it causes a rash around her mouth, well I started thinking maybe the food is started to bother her I of course wipe her face clean after every mean with a baby wipe and if i keep her face drool free with AD on it during naps her rash clears right away, so thats another reason i'm thinking teething but i was just wondering if any other moms had to change the brand of baby food thier child ate even after illiminating allergies... I was thinking about going to Gerber Organic because they have more flavors and the Original Gerber baby food is aslo made from pure fruites and vegis so she'll have all those flavors to try as well.. is it okay to just change brands. umm I dont know what i said to sound like i dont give my child milk (formula) or feed my child enough in a day she is getting the recomended amount of all food groups per her doctor and i have talked to my doctor sometimes its just nice to also talk to other moms on what they did and how they felt about things like this Sorry just wanted to clarifie when i said she has three meals and less bottles its because shes full from the baby food (normal) she is still getting more then the recomended ozs in a day and her doctor knows what she is eating/drinking (formula) thats not the point of my question again just wanted to dicuss with other parents p.s. i am a 1st time mom if that wasn't noticable
Can my 7 month old be switched to stage 3 baby food? My 7 month old is on stage 2 baby food and can eat a jar & a 1/2 in 1 feeding, she doesn't like baby rice cereal, she absolutely loves gerber crawler level/graduate type snacks..ie...graduates lil crunchies (if I break it up in to smaller pieces)the gerber fruit puffs things, the gerber yogurt melts, Earth Best organic wheat teething biscuits on occasion, and she takes about 3-4 bottles a day of formula ranging from 6-8 ounces in a serving 8 ounces if she's hasn't much solids like baby snacks or baby food and then more like 5 bottles. Is it time for me to move her up to stage 3 baby food if she is doing this? She has 2 bottom teeth if that matters any. Thanks!
Have you ever given your baby spinach and potato (combo) baby food (in a premade jar you got at the store)? We gave our 9 month old earth's best organic tonight, the green spinach and potatos combo...well she didn't seem to like it, and would let it sit in her mouth awhile and kind of coughed with it...did she maybe not like the flavor (could say I blamed her?) or maybe because the texture is a little thicker than some baby foods? Just feeling kind of bad about it, so looking to see if other parents had a problem with this kind too...thanks : )
7 month old feeding question? i have a 7month old daughter, last night i went to buy her baby food. i was giving her only earth's best organic baby food. then i saw gerber had a TON more flavors & even deserts! so, i'm a new mom & figured organic was best. but now that i've seen all these flavors i want to switch her to gerber. is it ok to give her regular baby food & not organic? do i give her desert after she eats her fruits or veggies? help, what do you do? this is all so new!
Question about baby food.? I fed my baby for the first time yesterday. Well first time whole food. Peas to be exact. Well I did what the label said and put it in the fridge. Now if I want to feed her again do I warm up the peas or just feed them to her cold? This is Earth's Best Organic First Peas. Thank you.
Can baby formula be returned to any store? I bought some baby formula over the internet and I was wondering if I can take the formula back to any store that sells it? I ordered Soy, but I wanted Dairy. I know Whole Foods and Babies R Us carry Earth's Best Organic formula. I'm not sure what the WIC formulas are, but I am trying to return Earth's Best Organic Infant Formula. i understand the concern.. Hmmm I was looking for an exchange, not a refund.
Question about sodium content in baby foods? I have a question about sodium content in commerical baby food. I bought three different brands of sweet potatoes. Earth's Best organic had 50 mg of sodium Gerber had 15 mg of sodium Del Monte had 0 mg of sodium. i know adults should watch their sodium content, but what about babies? It seems like a big difference between the brands. How much sodium does a 6month old need? Any info you have would be helpful.
Switching to Earth's Best Formula for my 6 month old.? My daughter has been on Enfamil gentlease, for 4 months now. For the the fist 2 months I was breasting and it didn't go so well. As soon as I put her on the enfamil a month later she developed eczema. So lately I have been giving her organic foods and I even blend her fresh vegetables in a food processor. I don't want her eating anything that is not all natural and that contains steroids and pesticides. My question is do you think that I should continue to give her enfamil? Would switching her formulas to Earth's Best Formula harm her in anyway. Please help I'm a first time mom and want my baby to be as healthy as possible. Also with the enfamil she always spits up and is very gassy. I did try one bottle of the Eath's Best and she has not spit up and she is not gassy.
What formula should I start to feed my baby or should I continue breastfeeding? Out of everything I want to keep breastfeeding my seven month old son. But I haven't been producing enough breastmilk. It takes awhile for me to make him his cereal. Also when I use the pump the flow is very little. He doesn't seem to be starving from lack of milk or dehydrated. But I want to be able to drop him off at my mother's or have his father feed him. I just can't seem to produce more than I have. I read online that drinking more water can't produce more or something like that. Do you guys have advice for that? And about the formula...I want to feed him a good formula. Preferably organic. I feed him Earth's Best baby food, but I know they make a formula. Has anyone tried it? And if not that one, which other organic formula can I try? Or whichever formula? Thank you mommies for your help! Being a first time mother, I stood in front of all the formulas at the store wide eyed for like 10 minutes. I had no idea what I should have chose. lol
Question about making your own baby food...? I have successfully made acorn squash, butternut squash, pears, banana, and home-made brown rice cereal. I have bought Earth's Best peas and carrots because of nitrates and the fact that I don't have time to shell peas even if I could find them fresh and organic in the middle of winter in teh midwest. Tonight I made sweet potato and decided to experiment with frozen green beans (because I can't find them fresh and organic either) and no matter what I do they are still chunky. I cooked them in teh microwave with water just to be fast for the experiment. Then I ran them through my hand crank food mill. Then I mixed them with about a half ounce of breastmilk and ran tehm through again. They were still a little chunky so I ran them through a fine strainer. Well, they are still in little chunks some how and I don't know what else to try. My son choked on some oatmeal and bananas today because I didn't add enough milk to thin it, so I def don't want to give him chunky green beans. ANy suggestions, experience appreciated!!
When is a good time to stop breastfeeding? I have a beautiful 9 month old daughter, she is breast feed and I feed her Earths Best baby food. I am giving her one food jar a day and one fruit jar a day. and mix one bag of breast milk (about 4 oz) with Earths Best Rice Cereal. Based off of the research I have done (which was a while back, when I was pregnant and had time) I plan on breast feeding her until she is one year old. Are there any pros of continuing feeding her after one year? Is it creepy to continue feeding? I Absolutely hate pumping milk but I will do what I gotta do, to do what is best for my baby girl. I was originally planning on just going to cows milk after her one year mark... What are your thoughts on soy milk? (I don't like it, but is it better?) I just want to hear what everyone thinks about these things? Also, I chose Earths Best baby food because it's organic. It's pricey but does anyone have any feedback on that brand or others? Thanks so much for all your help and advice!! =] Thank you all so much for the wonderful tips! My mom told me to stop breast feeding at 6 months because it was creepy. I told her she is creepy haha we have a good relationship and like to tease eachother. I think I will continue until my daughter weens herself =] or, we will just figure it out when that time comes. Also, I love the idea of making her food for her! i didn't even think of that! So, I can start feeding her food that my husband and I are eating? I will have to look into that to see what foods are okay and what food are not. Thanks again. you all are great! =]
Are some dogs just prone to needing their glands expressed? My pup has developed a habit of needing her glands expressed pretty often. We just do it ourselves because I had to do it for my border collie daily after she became paralyzed so it's no biggie, really. We called the vet after the first time and they said just to increase her fiber and express as needed. They led us to believe that it just happens to some dogs. especially small ones and mines only 7.4 lbs full grown. We did add fiber, to be exact Earth's Best Organic pumpkin apple baby food at each meal. Like it said, it doesn't even bother me to do it. Nothing in her food could be causing this-she's eating organic boiled chicken with organic veggies at a 2:1 ratio while waiting for her Paw Naturaw chicken patties to get here and she has perfect stool on her homemade diet. SO is this just going to be a permanent thing? Or is there something else to do? She's 8 months old and it started not too long ago. I don't give her grains so I can't feed her oatmeal or anything
best formula for 12 month old? Hi, I've been BF my son for 12 months but now my milk is starting to dry up (possibly b/c of of OTC antihistamines; maybe b/c he's just not interested in nursing anymore so he nurses less). I want to start giving him regular whole cows milk, but he gets diarrhea with it. For now I am giving him Lactaid whole milk and he seems to tolerate it well. I'd prefer organic lactose free milk but have yet to find a good option. I am looking for a formula to give him as well (he is 12 months old and only 19 pounds, but of normal height). I want that option so it will be more portable / easier to take with me in the diaper bag and just add water later. I don't mind milk based formula but so far the Earth's Best Milk seems to upset his tummy. Organic soy formulas seem to have high amounts of manganese (which in large amounts can be cause neurotoxicity in infants). Is Rice milk an option for infants? I need one with enough fat and calories in it to provide him with adequate nourishment. If so, I need a powdered rice milk option. I've been adding powdered non-fat milk to his cereals and baby food (the kid only has 2 teeth and can't really chew yet), and he seems to do fine (no diarrhea). thanks. ok, anyone else besides the stupidest responder in the world? He has been getting booby for 12 months, but they are empty now. and I've tried all the teas, galactologenic herbs etc. he does tolerate yogurt really well.
My dogs having issues switching to raw? I'm switching my 8 month old 7.4 lb dog to a commercial raw food called Paw Naturaw grass-fed organic bison diet. She was eating By Nature Organics canned food before, and most recently a homemade 2/3 boiled organic chicken 1/3 pureed organic veggie/fruit diet to bridge the gap between her last case of BN and the Paw Naturaw getting here. I tried switching her cold-turkey, and that led to the runs. I cleared it up using Earth's Best pumpkin baby food and had another go at it, this time gradually increasing the amount of bison mixed with her chicken and veggies. She had a couple solid poops and was fine for a couple days, but than last night she threw up a couple times but otherwise seemed fine. I had just gotten her up to a half and half mix. I give Flying Basset Organics probiotics daily as a preventative, and there are Flying Basset Organics digestive enzymes blended into her veggies. She also gets 1/3 tsp wild alaskan salmon oil daily, along with Organic Pet Superfood Immunity (a dried mushroom mix) I kept all of that the same. What else can I do to help her? I will be giving her vet a call when they open, but thought I might find more raw wisdom here lol. oh and here's the ingredients- Organic grass fed bison, organic bison liver, organic spinach, organic broccoli, organic carrot, organic celery, organic apple, organic sweet potato, organic cranberry, organic cucumber, tricalcium phosphate, organic flaxseed, organic safflower oil, grass fed organic bison heart, grass fed organic bison kidney, organic lecithin, sea salt, zinc proteinate, vitamin E supplement, copper proteinate, manganese proteinate, calcium iodate, and vitamin D3 supplement. Gil c- thanks for telling me about the bones! I will be switching to the chicken formula, which has a good quantity of ground bone. I only am comfortable doing pre-made right now because PN checks every batch for pathogens, but thanks for the advice Raven, you aren't listening. I actually WAS told by another raw feeder to go cold turkey. I did NOT increase her probiotics or anything else. She only gets 1/8 tsp a day, and has since she was 8 weeks old! Hadly a supersized amount. And she just has to get used to it, she even was tolerating it as 1/3 of her diet. I am not feeding it to her just because it;s raw-it's the only acceptable food in production, raw or not. I'll be alternating with Paw Naturaw organic chicken and organic turkey varieties, and Raw Advantage organic grass fed beef. The By Nature was unacceptable due to limited protein sources and carrageen/guar gum. I just wanted to wait till she was at least 8 months to go raw.
what foods does your 8 month old eat? What foods besides formula and cereal of course does your baby typically eat now? We do a lot of the Earth's Best organic jarred foods but I'd like to incorporate things like pinto beans, steamed soft veggies and i've even heard a little cheese and egg yolk is good now...love to hear what ya'll are doing. *correction i meant to say- besides formula, breastmilk for those nursing!, and cereal
Why can't I find Gerber teething Biscuits? Okay so i went shopping today and my main goal was to find Gerber teething biscuits for my daughter,i went to Wal-mart no biscuits all i found there were Earths Best Organic wheat teething biscuits they would be okay i like them being wheat but they are so much thinner than the Gerber one's,and i dont feel comfortable with that the Gerber ones are very thick, anyway i also checked Wal-greens for them still no luck although they did have other Gerber baby food products.Did they discontinue them and i just had'nt heard or what?
Am I feeding my 7 month old too much? My daughter is 7 months 1 week old and is large for her age. Her height is in the 90th percentile or so and her weight is in the 80s or so. I am worried that I may be feeding her too much. Here is the schedule that I am currently feeding her: 8 am - 7-8 oz bottle formula 10 am - 1/2 jar to 1 jar stage 2 baby food 1230 pm - 7-8 oz bottle formula 2 pm - 1/2 jar to 1 jar stage 2 baby food 430 pm - 7-8 oz bottle formula 6pm - 1/2 jar to 1 jar stage 2 baby food 7:45pm - 7.5-9oz bottle formula I say 7 - 8 ounces for the daytime bottles because sometimes she might leave a little bit. As for the baby good, she eats total for the day 2-2.5 jars usually. The jars are the Earth's Best Organic and we alternate between vegetable and fruits. A lot of the vegetable ones also have meat like chicken or turkey. We don't feed her cereal because she didn't like it. Does she need it? Also we haven't given her juice or any finger foods (like wagon wheels or cheerios yet). She has two bottom teeth. Am I feeding her too much? Should I be feeding her the baby food and the formula at the same time or keep it spaced out? Does she need juice/finger foods? Thanks! TN - South Florida
Homemade Babyfood? We bought that jarred Earth's Best stuff for the first baby, but now that the organic trend caught on, the price has doubled. I want to make the baby food for #2, but don't know which book to buy for reference, how to store it BPA free, and best preparation methods. Also, my mother-in-law keeps my baby, she doesn't cook, so this homemade thing will throw her for a loop and she'll try to warm it in the microwave. Any tips for strongly (politely) suggesting to her that she'd better use the bottle warmer or else????????? ;)
9 month old not liking stage 3 foods and not interested in finger foods? Hi - The doctor gave us the ok to start finger foods/chunkier foods once my son turned 9 months. He is 9 1/2 months now. We started buying Earth's Best Organic Stage 3 foods. He hates them. The chunks make him gag. Also, he doesn't put things in his mouth as much as other babies do. I put cheerios on his high chair and he plays with them and throws them to make them bounce. He loves the stage 2 stuff. I am not really concerned with any type of developmental delay...he is pretty ahead of schedule (he is walking already). So, I am wondering if anyone has had a similar situation? Thank you!
Need help finding an organic meat baby food? It needs to be 100% meat with no fruits or veggies, and DEFINITELY no grains or salt (it's a nutritional supplement for my ferret) I've been using Beech Nut, but I really hate to give my animals anything that isnt USDA cert. organic. I also buy Earth's best and gerber organics for my puppy but they all only do fruits and veggies :( Thanks!
I'm Having Trouble With Eating & 11 Months? My son didn't eat solids until 9.5 months. He was offered, he'd take them all willingly but spit it out until that point. For one full month he decided he was going to eat all veggie babyfoods, but only 1 brand, Earths Best. I haven't been able to get him to eat fruit or anything else for that matter. By 10.5 months he decided to drop babyfood once again. He's been on bottle only every 2-3 hours because he's hungry all the time. If I give him adult food, he will suck on it for an hour before I decide to take it out of his mouth and throw it away. Once in a while he will swallow noodles BUT every morning he eats my cereal, milk and cereal, off the spoon just fine. My question is snacks. I know I have to work on the babyfood but how do I do snacks? If he eats every 2-3 hours, a full bottle, when do I squeeze in snacks? I have these organic Veggie baby chips for him that he seems to take a couple each time they are offered but since he isn't eating normally for his age, I'm not sure when to give them to him. Just between the bottles and still feed him the formula?? Thanks! All of these answers are great but yesterday he went from 9:30AM to 3:45PM without eating or drinking anything. I didn't give him the bottle and I tried offering him foods but he wouldn't take. He was just crabby. I finally gave in in the afternoon. I don't eat at home. My fridge consists of Ketchup/Musturd and Milk. If I'm hungry at home I eat cereal or I will buy bread and put the Ket/Mus on it. I keep asking people what they are eating for dinner and I have tried to buy that stuff and cook it for my son but he isn't wanting it. If I give him fingerfood he smashes it and throws it on the floor. Any suggestions? Should I keep tryin to cook what other people are eating and keep offering? Even if he isn't letting it go to his stomach? I'm not sure why you all think this food is bad for him.. I'm talking about these veggie chips http://www.babiestravellite.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/Gerber-Graduates-Veggie-Crackers-large.jpg Mine are exactly the same except the box says Made With Whole Grain. This is a baby treat. I mentioned it was for babies If he is drinking 6 ounces, a full bottle, every 3 hours and is at 20 pounds, 11 months old, should I lower his ounce to 5 and let him cry for a few days until he takes the rest of the solid food offered?
Where can I find a list of recalled baby food? I feed it to my animals as a treat and supplement. I give my ferret Beech Nut in Chicken, Turkey, and Beef and give my puppy Earth's Best Organic, Gerber Organic, and a generic USDA organic type sold at Walmart in every flavor they make thats grain-free. I read that Earth's Best and Gerber Organics have been recalled and was very concerned. I tried finding a list on the FDA site but couldn't find one. Thanks!
Starting solids this month....? What foods did you have the best luck with? I'm starting with rice cereal, avocado, apple, banana, and sweet potato. I have baby cubes so I can make all of them at once an dfreeze. ALso, did anyone else notice that the box of Earth's Best Organic Oatmeal contains wheat? It says so right in the ingredients "contains traces of wheat". SHould I find a different brand then? Also, my mother is convinced that if I give them at night he'll sleep longer. I keep tellng her it' not true and I only plan to give a tablespoon a day until 5 or 6 months. (he'll be four months this month). But she swears it worked with all of us. WHat are your experiences? He's still waking every 2 hours to nurse btw. I was told to give him solids early in the day in case he had a reaction. My doctor recommends 4 months to start solids. End of discussion on that topic. Also, the whole veggies befor efruit thign never made sense to me. Breastmilk is sweet, so then he'd hate veggies from teh start right? Formula is bitter, so thats like having veggies first anyway right?
Organic Baby Foods??? I asked a question earlier about baby food, and Organic baby food was brought up in some answers..Which heightened my interest on Organic baby food. My Son is 6months and is on the Gerber 1st stage Veggies. Hes been through every Veggie now with the 1st stage, we are just doing a variety of different veggies through the day now. Hes doing great. My Question is , Is Going from the normal Gerber Baby food to Organic Gerber Baby Foods really worth it??..Price doesn't matter with this at all, I'm just talking about the Quality?? Ive been reading some on the net and trying to figure out if I want to switch soley to Organic baby food, I want the best for my baby like everyone else so, Im just trying to figure out what I want to do. Gerber uses carcinogenic plastic for baby food!!? Well now they are saying that #7 plastic is the absolute worst plastic around when it comes to carcinogens. So, why on earth does Gerber use it to package their baby food?? ((I buy organic food in glass jars, and I am fixing to start making my own.... but I am still curious as to WHY they would do this)) Here's what one article had to say about plastic number 7: "7 Other (usually polycarbonate)Baby bottles, microwave ovenware, eating utensils, plastic coating for metal cans BAD: Made with biphenyl-A, a chemical invented in the 1930s in search for synthetic estrogens. A hormone disruptor. Simulates the action of estrogen when tested in human breast cancer studies. Can leach into food as product ages." I'm not sure about proper bloggy etiquette for giving credit, but I found this article HERE. Please click the link for the rest of the article. I hope this is helpful for anyone out there using Gerber baby food. I just wanted to make you aware of the risk that may be associated with their containers. And hey Gerber - can you please go back to glass jars or at least put our children's food in containers that are at least as safe as sour cream tubs? http://lorisupermom.blogspot.com/2008/04/gerber-baby-food-plastic.html
what brand of baby food do you like? my son is 4 months and im starting him on solids. i went with earths best organic rice cereal and he likes it. i also got jars of stage 1 baby food and i went with the earths best brand again. what brand of baby food do you feed to your LO
is it ok to give a milk base formula fed baby soy based kind? my son is is months old. his belly isn't very sensitive and we've been able to switch back and forth between brands of formula with no problems, but they have all been milk based. my local kroger is re-doing there organic section and some products are 90% off. theres nothing wrong with the things, they just need the room and are discontinuing the sale of some items. i got my son some organic baby food for 34 cents/jar and saw that they have some 1.5 oz cans of earths best organic soy formula on sale. we get wic and he uses similac advance milk base. we get free formula and all but it is almost not enough for him as is and i know as the weeks go by he will need more and more to keep him satisfied. would it be ok to buy these cheap cans and feed them to him mixed w/ the similac or even alone in a bottle? the cans are regularly 22.50 marked down to 8 something. this is cheaper then even parents choice, plus its organic which i suppose couldn't be any worse than the non organic. the only thing i'm worried about is the soy vs milk. he has never had any soy products so far either. is it ok to keep on hand in case i run out or for whatever reason get kicked off wic or anything? he is 7 months. i just noticed my typo lol again lol i meant they have some 12.5 oz cans, not 1.5

What are some good vegan baby foods for infants? I have known people who were raised vegan from birth their entire lives (whether for moral or health reasons) and are perfectly healthy. I am not anywhere near having a child. I am only 20 and I am still in school, then I 'll be in graduate school or law school very soon, and then I'll be focusing on my career so I will not be having children for like another 15 years lol However, I am relaxing this Sunday afternoon, looking up a recipe for dinner and it just came to me - Can you make vegan baby food? Or what brands of vegan baby food are legit? I could just call up the parents of all my lifelong vegan friends/associates but that would be too obvious and I'm lazy. lol So I turn to you good people : ] Can you cook well balanced (for baby anyway) meals and like blend them up for baby food? Is there a way to make homemade vegan baby food? You know you how you always see baby food meals of like idk chicken and rice. So could you make your own homemade seitan and rice baby food? Also what other brands of baby food are great. I think the most well known LEGITIMATE baby food brand that has ingredients parallel to regular brands and goes by FDA requirements is Earths Best Organic. It definitely is not exclusively vegan but they have many vegan options. They are well known too so I will be using that brand when I have a baby. What are some others? For those of you who dont know the brand: http://www.earthsbest.com/index.php I have done some online reading and I just wanted to post what I found in case someone in the future reads this for vegan advice. I didnt have to research to know that we dont have to exploit animals to be healthy. :] Here are some articles. http://www.keepkidshealthy.com/WELCOME/treatmentguides/veganchildren.html http://www.vegfamily.com/babies-and-toddlers/homemade-babyfood.htm http://www.vegfamily.com/babies-and-toddlers/breastfeeding-vegan-baby.htm http://www.veganfamilyfavorites.com/order.php http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0961424826/vegf-20 http://www.vegfamily.com/babies-and-toddlers/preparing-your-daycare-center.htm http://www.syl.com/articles/raisingaveganbaby.html http://www.babyzone.com/mom_dad/home_food/article/raising-vegetarian-children (This is vegetarian but still a very good read i think) Earths Best Organic now has a vegan soy milk formula for those who choose not to (or cannot) breast feed. Although I keep hearing that breast feeding is the best. http://www.earthsbest.com/products/product/1702.php I was reading another question and one of my fav vegan sites came up. Apparently this forum has a section for parents. Who knew : http://www.postpunkkitchen.com/forum/viewforum.php?id=39 Here is another question with a couple good answers, along with typically ignorant answers as well. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080213175836AA90ayR OMG have you guys heard about a "vegan" couple starving their baby? Ridiculous. They were not vegan they were fucking stupid. I read this in a question dunno if it is true or not: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArZ.Cz5x6AdPSEkvIyXIkZgjzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20070509141929AAmYINk http://www.vegansociety.com/html/people/lifestyle/families/parenting/vegan_children/ Ok I will stop now lol
Is Environmentalism really just one of the world's newest radical religions? Maybe their God is the Earth. Maybe their version of the Apocalypse is "Global Warming". Maybe their Communion is bean sprouts and hummus. Maybe their Penance is bathing sporadically. Maybe their Lord's Prayer is "Imagine" by John Lennon (who by the way probably doubles as their Messiah and Son of God). Maybe the Seven Deadly Sins are: 1. Driving an SUV. 2. Not recycling. 3. Using regular lightbulbs. 4. Buying non-organic foods. 5. Owning anything made out of real wood. 6. Diapering your baby with disposable diapers. 7. Having more than 1.2 children. What do you think? I just find it interesting that most people who label themselves Environmentalists are typically liberals, whose other mantra is basically "you shouldn't press your beliefs on other people" when that's exactly what THEY do. Many people believe that God is a mythical character Many people also believe that man-made Global Warming is a myth. Both things are basically accepted by their followers on Faith, since neither have been empirically proven to be true. Hhhmmmm...interesting. (BTW, I don't doubt that the earth is probably in a warming phase, I just don't believe that it's all or even a majority of man's fault...the earth is a dynamic thing and has gone through Ice Ages and warm periods for millions of years before we industrialized and began using fossil fuels) Of course, there is evidence in both the existence of God and whether man is the cause or a major cause of global warming, but how that evidence is interpreted is still up to each individual. The evidence that we've been privy to has still not PROVEN the existence of either. It is still a matter of the faith or willingness to believe of the individual that determines the existence of these things. Just like you may think it's futile for me to try to convince you of the existence of God, I think it's futile of Environmentalists to try and ram man-made global warming down my throat and get me to accept it as an irrefutable fact. Hypocrisy is an ugly thing and does nothing positive for any cause. Oh, you're right. Al Gore could either be their Savior or their Lead Evangelist, like Jimmy Swaggart. Maybe their church is the street in front of the White House where they go to worship/protest and their hymn books are picket signs with slogans like "I love my Prius" and "I talk to trees...they're more interesting than people"
gdiapers/alternatives/septic...?? OKAY SOOOO. I am commited to going "green" with this baby {breast feeding, feeding it organic food ect.} and I need a good alternative for diapers that won't hurt the earth...so i heard about gdiapers [gdiapers have reusable shells and biodegradable flushable liners... http://www.gdiapers.com/ ] and I would really love to give them a try but I have a septic system...I have done some research on them and found them and found that it isnt good to use them right away because of how much i would be flushing away.... So,I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good alternatives to gdiapers something that is not harmful to the enviornment or my the baby =] I know I could use cloth diapers but a girlfriend of mine had a bad experience with them in the past and I am hesitant to use them... thankyou! =]
Should i just chill out and give her a baby jar? Are they really ok? I cant believe that people pump the rubbish down their babies, it might say its all organic ingredients, but i dont like the thought of putting anything down my babys neck that has a shelf life of years!! Are they really ok? There must be something in them to preserve them. Im not one of these mother earth types, you know, but this is one thing i cant let go, i mean youve gotta think that everything that goes down your babies throat has to be digested by their under developed system. I always make all her food, its easy enough, but i suppose it gets more difficult when were out and about. shes lactose intolerant too, so its a milk free diet, so its not like she can eat anything. i have to take her meals with me. Should i just give in what about when youre out all day.. wont it go off?
What Snack Brands Do You Buy? For everything able from Earths Best, we get that brand. That includes formula (for the adopted triplets), baby food (for on the go, I usually make my own), baby cereal, and when they are older, the pasta and teething biscuits and juice etc. For the 4 year olds, we get just about everything they offer for their age in that brand. That includes cookies, cereal bars, juice boxes, milk boxes, and applesauce. For everything else (that they don't offer and for my husband and I and Bella (14), we get any other Organic brand. We see which brand of that particular food has the least sugar and most nutrients. You?
How should I plot to kill Aunt Gertrude, AKA Pedro's Mommy? Hello. My name is Francis. I am a little baby who lives in a double trouble baby bubble. It protects me from germs and unsterilized food. It also comes with a convenient potty attachment so I don't need to crawl to the toilet to empty my bowels. Momma and Daddy Dave built it all by themselves. Today, I suffocated in my bubble. I was gasping helplessly for air when all of a sudden, the light faded out of my sight and all I saw was black. Then once again, I saw the light. I saw Saint Peter and my Great Grandmother Francis calling my name. But as soon as I saw the face of Michael Jackson fondling baby Jesus, I felt myself being pulled back to the world I had just been unfortunately ripped away from. I woke up in Daddy Dave's arms. He resurrected me, and now I am back! When I came back, Mommy and Daddy Dave wanted to celebrate my return to Earth. So they invited my Aunt Gertrude and Cousin Pedro. Mommy politely asked Auntie to help puree my chicken dinner, since all I can eat is organic food and liquids. After consuming the food, I realized it was contaminated! Auntie Gertrude had contaminated my supper! I have had diarrhea ever since, and Auntie Gertrude has been attempting to make up stories about my death that were full of lies! I'm going to have to tell Mommy and Daddy Dave, and we need to contemplate a plot to murder Aunt Gertrude and that ugly, atrocious Cousin Pedro! Can any of you think of something?
Cutting down on her formula intake per day, ADVICE PLEASE!!? My daughter is 9 months old. She has never eaten baby food. Since 6 months she has eatin either real food, or gerber graduates. She now eats 2 mini organic whole wheat waffles for breakfast (same size as mini eggos but made by earths best), an entire gerber graduate meal (chicken and rice, spaghetties ect) or a real food equivelant to the amount of a gerber and then a smaller meal at dinner, with sometime a little fruit with or sometime after dinner. She also drinks 3-4 8oz bottles a day. I wasnt sure how much formula she should be getting so I have never really tried to decrease the amount. However I recently found out that all she actually needs at this age in addition to food is 16-22 oz. Now I dont plan to just one day steal them from her and only allow 2 bottles a day. But I would like to totally cut the forth one out. I am planning on her usual bottle between breakfast and lunch (her nap time bottle), then again another between lunch and dinner (another nap time bottle) Then the third and final before bed. THe fourth bottle sometimes comes in if she didnt eat enough before bed and then wakes up at like 4 in the am. she usually wont drink all 8 oz, but that coupled with a few other times a day where shell sneak in a few oz's her and there add up to about a fourth bottle a day. To compinsate I will just offer her another larege snack of fruit and cheese before her after noon nap and possibly move that bottle to half pre nap half post. Or however she decides. Does this sound like a good plan to you? I know she will easily exchange bottle for a snack, but I dont want to limit her too much. Even if she just does 2 bottles a day, fine with me as long as they are 8 oz each. What do you think?

Even teh sugar free ones arent that great for them. Um hun, if I am talking about her getting forumla then there is a damn good chance I am no longer lactating. And did you bother to ask why I dont breast feed, or did you just assume that I am some terrible selfish mother who didnt feel like it. I am guessing the later. Get off your high horse honey. It's not comfort or she wouldnt drink 24-32 oz's a day from them. It would be one or two a day to fall asleep. She dosnt need a bottle to sleep and I will not put formula in her cuppy. I want her to associate bottle and formula, and cuppy with water and milk only. Mixing the two will be make it harder to get her off of the forumla for good when the time comes.

I'm Italian... someone can help me? I must do a summary of the following text... but I don't understand all... someone can tell me the key points... The party's over, even for the superrich. High-net-worth individuals, who lived on a scale most of us can't imagine—private jets; megayachts; third, fourth and fifth homes; gleaming AmEx black cards with no limit—are seeing their credit-card bills come due. So they're cutting back, in their own way, by selling the boat, buying ready-to-wear instead of couture and giving up Iranian caviar for breakfast—baby steps. It might sound ridiculous, but they've got to start somewhere. Of course, they don't exactly qualify as Wal-Mart shoppers yet; the ultrawealthy are still ultrawealthy, just slightly less so. Who agrees that evolution is just a theory? We did not come from monkeys. My degree was science/chemistry. Some scientist believe this junk theology...but many do not! It's a theory....in other words...an idea which has never been proven or disproven...therefore it remains a theory. Now a few examples of why I do not believe this theory: Any animal that has evolved does not remain....yet the monkey is still with us...the average day monkey has not evolved into a man! I believe many animals have adapted to their environment and thus their features change to meet their surrounding needs...thus adaptation! However, to evolve into something totally more advance such as monkey into man would mean that the monkey would no longer exist because man would take his place...why does the monkey still exist???? The same can be said for apes and all other animals someone could possibly say man evolved from! Why do they all still exist today? Charles Darwin was a very smart man. His adaptation theory is quite genius and his studies were revolutionary and also opened the eyes of the scientific community...however his evolution theory lacks common sense from such a pioneer! Even if you disagree with the above...how do you explain how any life began on earth? Life cannot just spring up...and Mathematically, it is inconceivable that anything as complex as a protein, let alone a living cell or a human, could spring up by chance. Consider the following: Nobody has ever seen a new species evolve. Evolutionists cannot point to any transitional fossils--creatures that are half reptile and half bird, for instance. Where are all the transitional species. Really there should be a continuous line of transitional species, in the order of 1000's of times more numerous than obviously distinct species, and yet we have a clumps of very distinct species. And no transitional forms.... Recent discoveries prove that even at the microscopic level, life has a quality of complexity that could not have come about through evolution. Evolution is only a theory. It is not a fact or a scientific law. 1st law of thermodynamics states the energy(in this case life) cannot be created or destroyed! In other words life cannot just form...some form of energy must have been present! This is not a theory, it's a law. Law of biogenesis. People once believed that maggots were spontaneously generated from the flesh of dead animals. They thought life could come from non-life. Louis Pasteur proved beyond doubt that life cannot arise from non-life. This is not a scientific theory, but a law. Proponents of evolution contend that life did arise spontaneously from non-life at least once in the past, in other words, that this particular natural law was broken or nonexistent sometime in the past. Again this cannot happen as energy cannot be created or destroyed!!! Darwin himself wrote:If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down. Darwin wrote:To suppose that the eye with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest degree. The ability to fly supposedly evolved spontaneously by chance at least four times: for insects, birds, mammals (bats) and reptiles. Yet intelligent man did not figure out the principles of flight until the past century. Many of what Darwin considered to be transitional species have been discredited. Even Archaeopteryx, once thought to be transitional between reptiles and birds, is not. Modern birds have been found deeper in the fossil record. For the most part nature's divisions are not blurred and indistinct, currently or in the fossil record. The phyla appear in the fossil record almost instantaneously in what is known as the Cambrian explosion, with no apparent connections. Evolution teaches that fish evolved from lower animals. How did they get fins? No evolutionist claims that fins came in one generation, but rather in many generations. In other words, the development of fins was a GRADUAL development. And from where did birds get their wings? No evolutionist claims that wings came in one generation, but rather in many generations. They claim that the development of wings was through a very slow, gradual process. Now when the process, let us say, was half way complete, the "fin" or the "wing," as the case may be, would be useless — good for nothing — for a fish cannot swim with a part-fin nor can a bird fly with a part-wing! A part-fin or a part-wing, would be a monstrosity, not a perfect adaptation such as we see everywhere in nature. NOWHERE IN THE WORLD TODAY CAN ONE FIND PARTLY DEVELOPED APPENDAGES OR ORGANS, but, rather, everywhere there is perfect adaptation, perfect development for its intended purpose. That fact proves that EACH CREATURE, IN ALL ESSENTIAL FEATURES, HAS BEEN EXACTLY AS IT IS NOW, and was so created in the beginning. Hugo de Vries aptly said, "Natural selection may explain the survival of the fittest, but it cannot explain the arrival of the fittest." Science has proven that chaos does not naturally and normally turn into order. Life can only come from life (law of biogenesis). Things dont improve naturally as a matter of course (entropy). Things improve because of intelligent input. For example, the technology we enjoy in the present age is a result of human intelligence, not random chance. Science has given us a great deal, but not everything that exists can be explained scientifically. Prof. Fleischman, modern zoologist of Erlangen after repudiating Darwinism, said, "The Darwinian theory of descent has not a single fact to confirm it in the realm of nature. It is not the result of scientific research, but purely the product of imagination." Dr. Clark (recognized as one of the world's greatest biologists) was biologist of the United States National Museum, he stated bluntly that Darwin, Lamarck and all their followers were wrong "on almost all vital points." "So far as concerns the major groups of animals, the creationists seem to have the better of the argument. There is not the slightest evidence that any of the major groups, arose from any other. Each is a special animal-complex. . . .Appearing as a distinct creation." Prof. T. H. Morgan said, "Within the period of human history we do not know of a single instance of the transformation of one species into another." (p. 43. "Evolution and Adaptation;" McMillan, 1903). Another thought: If there is not supreme being that created heaven and earth and all creatures, then explain how the Earth and world is so organized and designed for life? How did our planet adapt to us???? If the oxygen mixture were more than it is we would die...proof of this is hospitals in earlier years were giving a little too much to preemie babies....they died! In the rest of the universe both WATER and OXYGEN are very scarce; in fact, hydrogen and helium make up 99% of all matter in the universe, yet our earth is designed for life...unexplained or superior design???? There are scores of other "laws" in the universe that are perfect and necessary to make up this vast universe. All students of astronomy are familiar with Kepler's three laws of planetary motion. There are "laws" of motion, laws of heat, laws of light, laws of sound — and all are PERFECT, never-changing, never-failing. Rear Admiral D. V. Gallery (USN; writing in the Saturday Evening Post), said, "The stars. . . .in their orbits and velocities through the heavens faithfully obey a great code of LAW. Earth's scientists can quote and explain this code in great detail, until you ask, "Where came these laws?" Edwin B. Frost, at one time astronomer with the Yerkes Observatory, wrote: "Everything that we learn from the observational point of view in the study of astronomy seems to me to point precisely and always toward a purposeful operation in nature. . . . "I cannot imagine planets getting together and deciding under what law they should operate. NOR DO WE FIND ANYWHERE IN THE SOLAR OR STELLAR SYSTEM THE DEBRIS THAT WOULD NECESSARILY ACCUMULATE IF THE UNIVERSE HAD BEEN OPERATING AT RANDOM. . . . Proof that the Universe had a Beginning "to assume that the universe had no beginning . . . fails to account for the CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF RADIOACTIVITY." (Scientific American). Animals breathe oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide; green plants (in sunlight) take in carbon dioxide and give off oxygen. Without plants in the world the time would soon come when all animals and all men would use up the available oxygen in the air and would perish." * Who designed such a complex system??? * "Give the plants a free hand and the water would in time become so alkaline as to destroy them. Give the animals a free hand and they, in the end, would be killed by the acidity they themselves produced; but the two working against one another insure the maintenance of conditions vital to both. All life is like that: a thousand interacting and balanced forces, like the flying buttresses of a towering Gothic Cathedral; destroy one and the whole graceful fabric comes down in irreparable ruin." (Creation's Amazing Architect). Flowers supply bees with nectar; bees in turn transfer pollen from one flower to another, thus preserving the life of the species. HMMMM??? These species formed a treaty all on their own?????? Is this their own plan or of a superior design? IF THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WERE INCREASED, THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT WOULD SOON BE RUINED BY MOLDS! Who keeps these in check???? By chance they sustain??? Not probable!!! The atmosphere gives us a protective covering from the harmful effects of the ultra-violet rays from the sun. Dr. Florence E. Miller, scientist connected with the Smithsonian Institute, says that we live "miraculously" on this planet, protected from eight "killer rays" from the sun, by a thin layer of ozone high up in our atmosphere. "If that little belt of ozone, approximately forty miles up and only one-eighth of an inch thick (if compressed), should suddenly drift into space, all life on earth would perish." The whole subject of "ozone" in the air is so unusual, it seems almost incredible. "There are two kinds of ultra-violet rays — long and short. The long are deadly, and are absorbed and neutralized by that ozone belt. If permitted to come through, they would blnd and blister the human race, and would soon destroy all life on earth. The short violet rays, on the other hand, are necessary to life. If that belt of protective ozone were too thick, so that the short rays could not come through, we would all die of rickets. "the most deadly of the 'eight killers' comes through in quantities just sufficient to render great service, without destroying us. It keeps down the growth of green algae, one-celled plants that grow in streams. Unrestricted, they would multiply so rapidly that they would clog all the streams of the world, and lead to endless flooding of the world. On the other hand, it is fortunate for the earth as we know it that the algae were allowed to develop in moderation." The earth is just THE RIGHT DISTANCE from the sun, relative to the amount of heat and light the sun pours into space. If the earth were much closer, it would be too hot; If it were much farther away, it would be too cold. Dr. William J. Humphreys, formerly with the United States weather bureau told the American Meteorological Society that if the average temperature of the earth were raised but two or three degrees "you could bid goodbye to all the big cities of the earth," Blind evolution is helpless to produce such endless intricacies of design and adaptation. Why - how -could chance evolution, by "random changes," produce an intricate, living, workable mechanism like the examples described above? Our world was designed for us to live in...everything designed for a reason. The food chain for example is a complex design of energy passed on...who designed such a plan??? reproduction of new life is complex! Who designed such this plan? All things organic and non organic were designed and have specific function in the universe! These did not randomly decide to do their part...it was a superior design created by a higher being! Recent discoveries prove that even Recent discoveries prove that even at the microscopic level, life has a quality of complexity that could not have come about through evolution. Evolution teaches that fish evolved from lower animals. How did they get fins? No evolutionist claims that fins came in one generation, but rather in many generations. In other words, the development of fins was a GRADUAL development. And from where did birds get their wings? I Got my Degree from The University of KY if you must know! I knew I'd get a stir from everyone on this topic. People get so cruel when it comes to such a subject as evolution! I don't mind people bashing me! I only put this together to start a debate...and that's what I accomplished! If you throw in a few off beat phrases or words it's nice to see who catches the bait. I'm giving the 10 points to the one who catches the biggest wrong in this thread!! Let's see who is really a science expert?
Using products like Miracle Grow on a vegetable garden, will it effect the veggies? I'm 21 years old and just purchased a condo with my boyfriend. With the warmer weather approaching I would really like to get a few tomato plants outside on our porch. A previous question I asked led me to decide against a hanging tomato basket, but I'm still going to do one just to expariment. I'll probably do two plants in pots on the porch (very sunny) and one hanging (also very sunny in the spot where the hanging hooks are) An answer to my previous question said that I should use Miracle Grow (I forgot what kind specifically) on the plants. But would that be "Ungreen" ? Do plant foods like Miracle Grow harm the earth? And even more important, one of the reasons I want to plant my own is so that I know exactly what goes on them (organic)... Are there any more natural ways that I can fertalize my plant (asside from any type of animal poop. I just wont use it)... Also, if I purchase a tomato plant pre-grown (like when its an itty bitty baby) rather than growing it from seeds, should I assume that its already been touched by pesticides? I'm planning on buying before it grows tomatos.
For those of you who dont know the brand: http://www.earthsbest.com/index.php

I didnt have to research to know that we dont have to exploit animals to be healthy. :] Here are some articles/books. http://www.keepkidshealthy.com/WELCOME/treatmentguides/veganchildren.html http://www.vegfamily.com/babies-and-toddlers/homemade-babyfood.htm http://www.vegfamily.com/babies-and-toddlers/breastfeeding-vegan-baby.htm http://www.veganfamilyfavorites.com/order.php http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0961424826/vegf-20 http://www.vegfamily.com/babies-and-toddlers/preparing-your-daycare-center.htm http://www.syl.com/articles/raisingaveganbaby.html http://www.babyzone.com/mom_dad/home_food/article/raising-vegetarian-children (This is vegetarian but still a very good read i think) Earths Best Organic now has a vegan soy milk formula for those who choose not to (or cannot) breast feed. Ridiculous. They were not vegan they were ******* stupid.
