Has any one used the "baby food grinder"? I went to Kmart today and I saw this thing, I think it was called The Baby Food Grinder, where you can grind, frutis, veggies and meats! I never heard or saw such a thing, and it was only about 8 dollars and I was seriously thinking about getting it! But I want to know if anynoe else has used this before. Also I have a question about making your own baby food, assuming I just use that device, do I have to steam and boil the veggies and fruits, or can I just grind them up and feed to her? I saw it in the same isle as the baby food, and sippie cups and what not. Also so lets say I make like spaghetti for dinner, can I grind that up and feed it to her?

What do you use to make baby food? I'm going to be purchasing a type of device to make my daughters baby food homemade. I'm exploring my options but I wanted some reviews of other moms. Moms that make their own baby food...? When I had my baby shower I played this game where we had to be blind folded and taste gerber baby food and guess what it was. Let's just say it was horrible...everything was sooo disgusting (besides the applesauce)....and from that day on I pretty much vowed to make my baby's food fresh. I already have the baby food grinder from babiesrus....I'm just kind of confused on what I should put in one meal? .....Is there any kind of recipe or anything for yummy baby food? Or ...do you just grind up meat and vegetables and whip it up together?....Any suggestions?
How do i freeze home made baby food? I decided that paying for baby food is way too expensive. It's way over priced for what it is. So, I went out and bought a baby food grinder (because my blender broke a while back). I want to make baby food ahead of time so I don't have to do it everyday. What i would like to know is 1, Is there anything special i need to put in with the fruits and veggies before i freeze them, and 2, Whats safe to mix it with when freezing? If you could help me out that would be wonderful! Thank you! So i feel like an idiot, but if i dont ask then i probably wont do it right. lol But if i wanted to do strawberries or something like that, do i need to steam or cook them too?
How do I prepare fresh baby food for a baby just starting solids...? and how do I store it and for how long. What kinds of food will last the longest. I already have one of those munchkin fresh food feeders and grinder

why do people buy baby food? when it is easy and healthy to make your own? i mean i know there is the convience issue. but a can of baby food cost .50 to .70 cents a shot when you can buy a sweet potato or some other varitity of veggie and make yourself three to five cans worth for a dollor or so and it hasn't been processed so is much heathier for your baby. right? i guess getting a meat grinder might be a little more time consuming though.. any thoughts? i'm not trying to suggest buying baby food ready made is a bad thing. i was just curious as to what other people thought of making your own to buying.
Please recommend a good baby food processor..? Hi - My daughter is 5 months old (23 weeks) and is exclusively breastfed. I am planning to start her on solids once she completes 6 months and is in the process of getting ready. :-) I plan to make my own baby food whenever I can, so I was wondering if you have suggestions to find a good food mill/grinder/processor. How about buying a mini food processor that will be appropriate for baby food portions but also can be put to versatile use? Is there something that worked really well for you? I live in an apartment, so something compact yet sturdy and easily stored will be nice. Also something that is easy to clean & use, of course. :-) Thanks so much! In response to the question asked - I plan to start solids in 7th month, just a little now and then...just get her used to eating solids very gradually...Thats all..;-)
Starting baby on solids... advice? so my baby pediatrician gave me the ok to start my baby on stage one solids and baby cereal, and i was wondering if i could mix cereal and banana's or applesauce together? also i'm look for a baby food grinder i want to make my baby food like the frozen peas and carrots and grinder them for her? what did you do when you first started your baby on solids
FOOD GRINDER ? My daughter is 10 months old. She eats stage 3 foods well & some table foods. I use my Magic Bullet to help to partially puree things but I'm thinking there's something better out there; a food mill or grinder. So, what's a good one that you guys/gals use & like? I've seen electric ones & a manual turn grinder at Babies R Us today. Does the one you have to crank just completely puree it or can you do it to make it more chunky too? I like that one I think. Just wondering. Any ideas and/or websites would be great.
Planning on making my daughters baby food myself....? ...Would like some advice/info/suggestions from those who have done it. My daughter is just turning 6 Months and i would like to make her baby food myself. i already have a grinder, some trays for storing the food and freezing. i have the general jist of it, but id like some more detailed info that you wouldn't necessarily think of. Also where did you get your recipes from? ive been researching baby puree books but what resources did you use and think was best? I plan on making all of her food for the whole week, or even two weeks at once, so im not cranking it out at every meal. So i bought these trays that let you freeze them in 1 oz cubes, then you defrost when ready to feed. Advice from only those who have done it for long periods, a month or so at least, would be most appreciated. If it was under that amount of time could you put it in a comment with why you chose to stop? thanks!!!!
baby food processor or regular food processor? i want to make my own baby food my daughters 11 months so she doesnt need it pureed just grinded up a little should i get a regular food thing or the ones from babies r us if i do i dont know which to get they range from $12 to $70 i dont mind the money i just dont know which one to pick a grinder or the one where you can boil defrost and chop help!!!!!!! lol
Is puree necessary for babies? I have just started some solids , in small does, with my baby. I have a baby food grinder that gets it pretty mashed , but not puree. My baby is 6 months old - does the food need to be puree or is some texture ok? Why isn't my baby old enough for solids? Also, he's just trying it - the bottle is still the main course of food.
homemade baby food questions....? How long can i keep pureed food in the fridge for? is it 2 or 3 days? I used to make it all ahead of time and freeze it, well now she is older and just eating "table food" so i just use the babyfood grinder at dinner to grind up what we eat. but for lunches i still like to puree up some veggies or fruits but freezing them in the ice trays is getting annoying now cause she is taking more of them, so i just wanna make a little at a time for a few days and keep it in fridge, but for how long? ALSO, how often do you feed your baby meats? My daughter is 8 months now and i know she is needing to eat meat but how much and how often, and also what do you make for your baby? I've pureed chicken for her before but what else is good? I hate using the commercial baby foods, like gerber unless I have too, i do keep 4-5 of them on hand incase i need them. but can i carry some food i made from home with me in the diaper bag, in like a little cooler if i am at a mexican rest. or fast food?
How do you get your 14 month old to eat something other than baby oatmeal and mashed potatoes? My 14 month old son refuses to eat anything that has more texture than baby oatmeal (the single-grain stuff) and mashed potatoes. I've been trying to feed him the regular oatmeal we buy for ourselves (I don't make it too thick), but he will not eat it, he spits it right out. I even have a food grinder and grind foods up that his older brother eats, but he still won't eat it. What can I do?
my 8 month old doesn't want to eat baby food anymore, what should i do? My 8 month old son has been eating baby food for the past 2 months and now he doesn't seem to want to eat. When i try to feed him i put him in his high chair and he screams every time. I feed him at least 3 times a day sometimes 2. He is very healthy, about 24 pounds i know he's teething but he doesn't have any teeth yet. He has been crawling for the past month, i would just like to know what i can do to get him to eat more solids. I don't have a grinder but i can buy one. Any thoughts? by the way he hasn't been sick or anything and we don't usually give him any taste of our food but we know he wants it.
where do i shop for a baby grinder? to grind the babys food
Is the food in India safe for a 12 month old baby to eat..? I will have a hand grinder with me to puree some of what i am eating for her.. will it be ok to give her local food? Is there anything I should watch out for? Thanks very much!
Any good websites for pureed foods? ^ I think that is what it's called right? I plan on making my sons food in a baby grinder when he turns 6 months (on the 28th of May). For the mothers who made their baby's food are there any good websites that I could go to with good recipe ideas?
My son is gagging like hes gonna throwup with some foods? Ok so I have a baby food grinder to grind up my own food and I also feed my son like gerber baby food. He is almost 9 months old and when he eats some food he gags on it like he is going to throw up and sometimes he does throw it up. He has been eating solid food since he was like 3 or 4 months and hasnt ever had a problem with it. Is there something wrong with him? He is on table foods also, its just when it has some fruit in it or some veggies he doesnt like, he gags on it.
Question about feeding my 11-month old? My daughter will be 11-months next week, and has been on solids since about 5 & 1/2 months. We started with jarred baby foods, and at about 7 months started making homemade baby food. She's currently having three meals a day, a snack in the afternoon, three bottles of formula, and water or juice throughout the day. I'm still using a baby food grinder for all of her food, and the only time she has finger foods or feeds herself is her afternoon snack [usually cheerios, gerber puffs or yogurt melts.] My question is, is she ready for more finger foods? Should I stop grinding everything, and just start cutting it into small pieces? She has six teeth, and does fine with chewing. I'm so worried she might choke on something, or that she may not eat enough if given the option to feed herself.
Pureeing your baby's first foods and what's ok? My daughter has been eating pablum and first foods for about a month already. She has mastered the spoon and everything. As a shower present I got a baby puree grinder. I was wondering what sorts of food is ok to feed my daughter at this age? I looked up online and got a couple ideas but I have a few questions myself. The foods that were recommened are as followed: Carrots, Green beans, peas, squash, sweet potatoes, wax beans, apple sauce, bartlett pears, bananas, and peaches What I'm wondering are other foods pureed are ok such as strawberries, blue berries or regular potatoes pureed?
Baby product question? Im thinking bout buying a baby grinder for my toddler has anyone evrr used this type of food grider is it worth buying plz help thanks
My 4 week old Rottweiler puppy is not feeding on Royal canine starter food, what can i do to make him eat? I have a 4 week old male Rottweiler puppy which is away from it's mother for various reasons for the past 3 days and was feeding on baby food (cerelac) although i know about lactose i couldn't help it cos the puppy food here was on scarcity. i know doctors are the ones with degrees, but what if i dont agree with them? I take my doctors advice on vaccinations, medicines, and my child's health. But I don't necessarily agree with a lot of things they tell me. For instance, my doctor told me to start solids at 4 months. My baby wasn't ready and I didn't start him until almost 6 months. Back when my baby had newborn acne, my doctor told me to slather it in lotion regularly. I felt that it would clear up on its own. I washed his face with a warm wash cloth and never used lotion and it cleared up in days. When I went back in she said "looks like you've been taking my advice, his skin looks great!" Pfft. Nurses as well. When my son was born, I was breast feeding. He has jaundace, and the nurses continually insisted that I give him formula to clear it out. After refusing a couple times, I finally gave in because I figured they knew better than me. Well, my suppy plummeted and I was only able to breast feed for less than 2 months. And now, the WIC people are trying to tell me that I need to give my just-turned-7 months son finger foods, when he can't yet pick small things up. I feed my baby fresh fruits and vegetables from a food grinder, and occasionally gerber fruits and vegetables. We experiment with finger foods, but he isn't ready for them. They also told me that I need to give my son rice cereal to "fill him up" because it will save me money on formula, and he needs more calories. Ugh. First of all, I don't feel that rice cereal has much nutrition, and if I'm going to "fill him up", id rather fill him with wholesome foods. And if he was lacking calories, he wouldn't be in the 86th percentile for weight. My doctor doesn't seem to think he needs more "calories". Just frustrating that they spew this advice, and everyone is so set in the ways of formula and jarred baby food and rice cereal, that they influence everyone else. How did they do it before gerber and similac? Sigh. Maybe I'm foolish for not listening to the advice I get on how to feed my son, but I think my insticts are there for a reason. Do you ever ignore what your doctor tells you?

Munchkin Baby Products...? I was browsing around Target today, and I've always seen the Munchkin products, Just seem to always walk past, but today a few items caught my eye, and I have question....First off does anyone know if those "Fresh Food Feeder's" have the replacement mesh bags? Second question Does anyone use the formula handheld mixer, how well does it work? And last question....How good is the Baby good grinder? Am I better off getting one of those magic bullets? Thanks =) Thanks for all your answer's. I was just wondering about the replacements, If they have wear and tear, After a few uses.I notice other brands have them.

Baby bird has fallen from nest --- and i feel so sorry for it yet dont know what to do am feeling real guilty! i have an outside lattice covered patio atop concrete slab that leads to our pool...... an hour ago, while picking up dog poo , i came upon a baby bird which had fallen from its nest made inside our latice covered patio... we tried to return it to its nest (using a dust pan so as not to touch the little guy) but it didnt work. so i found a box, shredded some paper for a nest and transfered it from dust pan to box and placed him in the planter. using a coffee grinder i ground some bird seed, added water & tried feeding it cuz it kept opening its mouth wide .... he got a little of my many attempts giving him food, then it looked like he wanted to go to sleep in the paper nest made for him. so i covered the box 3/4 of the way. Now what??? will he just die??? will mom return??? or should i start feeling guilty each time i hear a chirp.? i work, have other animals that need me & dont know what else to do? any suggestions????? help

Protein for young babies? My son is 7 months old and he's been eating solids once a day and is breastfed. I give my son jarred baby food and he's doing quite fine on them. He's had veggies and fruits but I was wondering about the meats. I purchased a jar of chicken and broth for him to try but it was the nastiest thing ever and refused to give it to him. It smelt like wet cat food and I couldn't imagine what it tasted like. If I wasn't going to taste it then why should my baby? Anyways, he has no teeth yet so I can't really give him table foods. Is it okay not to give him protein till he's older when he can chew it up or should I grind it up in a grinder for him when we do eat it? If I was to grind it up is fish okay to give? As well as beef or pork? Thanks
My Daughter have no interest in foods.? My daughter is now almost 20 months, still she don't have any interest in solid foods, either she take baby cereals which is meant for 3 months old, creamed milk or some grains, wheat, vegetable fine paste prepared in mixer grinder. Even these liquid food we have to play lots of game to make her eat, sometimes even after leaving her hungry for 6-8 hours does not helps. For last 2-3 days she is totally refusing any foods. Please suggest me how to handle this, it will be a great help for me. Thanks
making homemade babyfood......cook the rice or leave it uncooked? I am expecting another baby and this time around, I want to make 99.9% of the meals.I saw something about making your own homemade rice....simply buying a pack of rice and pulverize it in a coffee grinder. Afterwords, do you leave it uncooked? I don't know if commercialized rice is cooked or not.ive heard of a particular food borne bacteria that is possible with rice, but dont know the details.
Odor from the kitchen sink....help? My husband and I finally found out what that odor that comes and go inside our home. I first thought it was from the fridge, then I shut off the ac and unplugged my baby powder air freshener and have my husband actually smell this weird odor coming from our kitchen. Before he thought this smell was all in my head but he could smell this odor and he followed it to the sink where the food disposal, He said if it was the fridge then the smell would be coming from there. When I smell the kitchen sink up close to the grinder then that was the exact smell pretty much with raw fish. Does anyone have any advice on how to get rid of this smell from the food disposal. I tried vinegar but no help at all. Thanks.... =)
Pulverized rice? I can't seem to find pulzerized rice anywhere...I want to make meghli, a Lebanese sweet that we make after babies are born. I've tried to grind the rice in a food processor and it doesn't work, dry or cooked. Any ideas? Will a coffee grinder work? A pestel?
