Tips to help baby sleep through the night? My son is currently 3 and a half months old. About 3 weeks ago he started to sleep like a newborn again! Before this he was going to bed around 9pm, waking up for a bottle at 4am, and then he would sleep until 9 or 10am. It was great! Now he's waking up every 3 hours. I don't know what triggered him to start doing this again but I'm so tired. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get him back on his old schedule? Thanks :)

Tips for getting a 9mth old teething baby to sleep through the night? My daughter is 9mths old, and has been teething on and off since she was 4mths old, and her first tooth is only just coming through. Anyone got any tips for getting a 7 month old baby to sleep through? My 7 month old wakes every 1-2 hours through the night. She feeds for a minute or two (breastfeeds) then goes straight back down, but if I dont feed her she screams until I do and then is so awake it takes ages to get her back down. She is fully on solids, three meals a day. She used to take a pacifier/dummy sometimes, then sometimes feed, but now she refuses the dummy. She wont be rocked back to sleep. I do not feed her to sleep at bedtime, she goes down, in her cot, with her soother. Any ideas?? Thanks! Thanks so much for all the advice. Just to add, she won't take a bottle of formula at night :-(. She has been on solids since 4 months as advised by the Health Visitor to try to get her to sleep better. I feed her just before I put her down (breastmilk). She sleeps in a hammock for the first 2 hours (altho usually wakes up once), then I bring her into bed when I go to bed for a 'dreamfeed' and she sleeps in my bed. Unfortunately there is no-one else who can comfort her in the night for me :(. I will defo try the late 'supper' meal though x
4 month old baby sleep pattern tips, and sleeping through the night? Okay I have been not doing so good with my sons sleep pattern. What can I do. He will wake up 2 times in the night and eat and breastfeeding seems to put him to sleep. I realize I need to stop doing that and somehow get him to learn to put himself to sleep. Also I use a pacifier aswell. What steps can I do to help him sleep through the night and not use these "crutches" to fall asleep. Should I let him cry out for a little bit?
Does anyone have tips on making a baby sleep through the night? From the time my baby girl was born until she was about 2 months old, she slept day in and day out. I didn't like her sleeping that much because it didn't feel like we had a baby yet and it worried me. After those 2 months passed, she was barely taking naps which were once to twice daily for about 10 mins each time but she was only waking up once a night to eat then she'd fall asleep right after her bottle. In the past couple months, she's been napping about an hour around lunch time then another 20 mins or so around supper time. She goes to bed between 8:30pm-9:00pm but doesn't sleep for very long. This is where it's starting to be really hard on me because I go to school and I work full time, all these night time wakings have left me exhausted. My boyfriend's usually the one that takes care of her during the night, so it's not like I'm alone but I can't go back to bed until I know she's sleeping again so I might as well be the one who takes care of her during the night. My boyfriend could sleep through it all while I'm too worried about everything so I wait until she's asleep before I go back to sleep. In the past couple months, she's been waking up more and more every night and doesn't want to go back to bed. She sleeps from about 9pm until 12am, eats falls back asleep but then wakes up every 1 to 2 hours after that. She's not getting up to eat because she barely has milk when she wakes up, she's just ready to get up and go play I think. She the total opposite of what my son was like. He used to sleep his nights, from 8pm until 8am every single day from the time he turned 2 months old. I guess he must of loved his sleep. Is there any tips you could give us to help my 7 month old baby girl sleep through the night? We as parents are getting to the point of total exhaustion.
Baby sleeping tips!? I know i have a asked a few times on tips with helping my baby sleep but its starting to get pretty bad. I do nurse him to sleep becouse its the only way besides in the car the he will sleep. But i need some tips on how to get him to sleep or settle down by himself with out nursing and rocking and patting while i hold him. He now wakes up bout every 15-20 mins when he realises therer is nobody holding him. I am seeing a sleep specialist in about a week but was just looking for a bit of help now. Note i have tried control crying and it does work. I have let him cry for 1 1/2 hours and he still didnt sleep. The reason he was started to be nursed, rocked ect to sleep was when he was born he had silent reflux and it took nearly 10 docs to help us out. So we were forever nursing him to try and settle him down. He is now on Medication and what not that has helped us out alot. i have tried the swing.... it doesnt work. His reflux doesnt seem to bother him to much and he is nearly 9kg. way to heavy. He is 5 mths old.
Could you give me some tips to make my baby soothes himself to sleep? My 3 months n half always cries if i don't rock him to sleep. Everytime he's sleeping , i have to soothes him then put him into bed and lie down next to him. He just be able to go sleep by himself at night (12pm till 7am). During the days, he takes nap 4 times, i have to rock, carry him around until he sleep then lie next to him. If I won't do that, he cries. It makes me can not do anything. What should I do?
What are some good tips on setting a sleep schedule for a baby ? I have a 6 month old daughter and she used to be good about sleeping through the night and waking up when she needed to be fed. Some days she has a normal sleeping and eating scheduale and other days (most days) she takes long naps and is up all night! What are some good tips on getting her to bed at a set time ? tips on getting baby to sleep? my little boy is 5 and a half week and up untill a few nights ago was a great sleeper he used to wake up at the same times every night. then we had 3 nights in a row where he woke up every hour and a half. yesterday night after an hour getting him down and him waking up an hour later i brought him into bed and he slept really well. last night he wouldnt go to sleep on his own again. he is like this in the day aswell. ive just got him down finaly for a nap. he has a bath with me then a feed then bed, so we have a routine. ive tried putting him down when he's awake but very tired ( he used to go to sleep on his own) ive also tried letting him fall asleep on me, but he wakes up when i put him down! he wkaes up and i try and soote him when hes still in his basket, ive also tried leaving him but when he crys i pick him up. im not trying to get him to sleep through the night just to sleep on his own who yah im breast feeding as i said im not trying to get him to sleep through the night yet i just want him to settle on his own. thans everyone i will try massage i do have a kinda routine as in bath, feed, cuddles sleep and i keep every thing quite at night but light and noisey at day
My baby wont sleep! Any tips? From being 3 weeks old my son slept really well through the night other than waking for a feed and then going straight back to sleep. When he got to about 6 months old he started waking at around 1am and then again at 4am but it was easy enough to get him to go back off to sleep. Then he reached 10 months and it /all/ went wrong. He's just taken a severe disliking to his own bed and room. If we put him in his cot he just screams until someone picks him up. We've tried allsorts of techniques (like strict routine and leaving him to cry and returning every few minutes to settle him etc) but nothing seems to work. We ended up getting so fed up he ended up in our bed (mistake, I know). Now he's just gone a year old and we can't cope anymore. A few weeks ago we started 'weening' him back into his own bed but it's just not working. We do bath, supper, story, bed and aim for him to be in his cot at 10pm at the latest (10pm is fine by us as a bedtime, it works best with our jobs and gives us a little time to be together in the evening before we go to bed ourselves). He screams and screams until he makes himself sick, and I mean badly sick, his cot and usually the floor is covered in the stuff. The other day he also worked out how to climb out of his cot, I'm still not sure how he does it but he's pretty much a pro at it now - the cot is at it's lowest setting and there's nothing I can see that he could climb up on. I'm finding this really difficult now, especially since I have early morning starts. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, I'm willing to try anything at this point! Thanks guys for all the advice, I'll definately be taking it on board. As for the 10pm comment, due to my partners working hours and me not working we don't get home until 8pm 3 days a week. The aim with 10pm was to reduce it to 9 eventually, I can try to pull it forward as early as possible I suppose but it's not very practical. Thanks anyway, I'll see where I can shuffle stuff to see what works. I'm not sure he's over tired though, do over tired children act super hyper?!
how long does your baby sleep at night? my baby has gotten pretty good at the night time vs day time thing, but he only sleeps a max of 5 hours at a time!! but its usually 4 hours. hes 2 months. i was just wondering when they start sleeping longer, or if some of you out there already have a baby his age that sleep longer. any tips to coerce him into a longer sleep?
tips to help baby sleeping soundly at nite? other than a warm bath, a clean diaper, and a warm bottle of milk before bed, what can you do to help them sleep soundly at night. mine doesnt wakeup for a feed, but every other day, she's jolted for like every 1 - 2 hours. i am lack of quality of sleep as i need to work for 12 hours the next day.

Tips to get baby to sleep in his own bed? I have already posted a question about this not long ago but all I got was answers like he has to do it or co sleeping is the best way.. Well I already know he has to do it I need some tips! Co sleeping however is not the best option for me.. it is unsafe.. my husband is very "out of it" in his sleep he has hit my son rolled on him ect ect countless times.. my son has also fallen off our bed countless times.. earlier today he was napping and woke up didn't cry just crawled right off the bed I go in there to find my poor little man laying on the floor in shock crying hysterically.. it broke my heart! It also makes children very insecure my mother slept with me til I was 9 (my brother was born) I was very very insecure as a child I didn't want her to leave my SIDE! I was scared of everything going to the bathroom alone ect ect its unhealthy and my little brother is now 12 and still sleeps with her.. and he is the same way.. scared of everything.. so anyway co sleeping is not the best option for my family.. here is the history on it.. I didn't start putting my son with me til he was about 6 months and it is my fault.. I started it because he still to this day does not sleep through the night and at six months it was still every 2 or 3 hrs.. I got lazy and started putting him with me so I could try and get some sleep! Now I have to lay him down every nap time and at night he has to play with my finger for like 45 minutes if I take my finger away he is up in .2 seconds and we literally have to start over on trying to put him down.. and then after I finally get him to sleep if I put him in his crib he is up a half hr later cause he just knows.. I need some major help! I don't think I have the heart to let him cry it out btw his crib is in our room as well and no other option at this point in time.. any tips advice anything help me please!! any books anything thank you Also.. I am very seriously considering putting a pillow in his crib.. He sleeps SO much better with one however everything I have ever read tells me no! and I am getting a tv so he can see it hoping this will help.. I want to be able to give him his loves lay him in his bed walk away and check on him in an hr.. I used to have that and I screwed it up! I really need some help!
When did your baby sleep through the night? How many weeks or months was your baby before he or she slept through the night? How many hours? Was he breastfed or formula? and are there any tips to help a baby sleep through the night. I've heard of feeding them every 4 hours instead of 2-3 Oh and also before your baby started sleeping through the night how many times did he or she wake up?
Tips to help baby sleep in his own bed (bassinet)? My baby is almost 3 weeks old and will not sleep in his bassinet! he will only sleep if me or my bf hold him... all night.. and in the day for naps.. we are getting so worn out from taking turns being up around the clock-- literally and to make things worse I am breastfeeding and recovering my C-section so I am completely exhausted. The only sleep we get is from naps while he is sleeping. :( We also lay him down sleepy but awake like all the books say to do....that doesn't work either, so we tried laying him down when he's asleep, only for him to wake up 2 min later. We are trying to let him "cry it out" but that does nothing but make him cry louder and scream and frazzle our nerves. When we were in the hospital, he slept in the nursery in a bassinet.. so I don't know what the big difference is... is it possible that he just 'hates' this one? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated
Settling tips PLS HELP? Baby sleep centers? Does anyone know any baby sleep centers in Cairns / Brisbane (Australia) that teach you settling of baby. My son is 7 weeks old and the only way he will settle is in my arms. Will not go to sleep any other way..... any advice on how i can change this???? He is like this in the car seat,,,,,,,at home,......in the pram......he just has to be held all the time or he will cry It is really doing my head in but i hate to see him cry....i let him cry for a little while but his face goes red and sounds like he is going to choke himself so i pick him up and cuddle him and happens all over again when i put him down. He is not hungry, or windy no dirty nappy.....just likes being in mums arms.....what can i do to fix this???? how long is long enough to leave a baby crying? wont doing this now make it harder for him to settle himself when he get older if i just hold him and rock him to sleep all the time?
tips for putting baby to sleep? i have a one month old and some nights is difficult to put her to sleep. every time we lay her down she will wake up. and sometimes is 2 in the morning before she actually crashes out. my husband says i shouldnt let her sleep during the day at all but seems harsh not to allow a baby to sleep. any suggestions please!!!
Looking for baby sleeping tips!? Ok, so my son is now 4 months old and I would like to have him sleeping in his own bed. He is currently sleeping in a bassinet in my room since he is still waking up for night time feedings. When he wakes up to feed I put him beside me in the bed so we can drift off together. I have been reading the baby whisperer and I would like to follow what she is saying in the book but there are a few things that I don't understand. She says that when the baby wakes up to give them a pacifier and they will go back to sleep that way if they are not hungry and by doing this every night the baby will eventually sleep. Won't this make the baby rely on something to suck on to go back to sleep? Also I tried putting him down in the crib while is drifting off to sleep, but I can't let him cry, so you're supposed to pick them up and soothe them then try it again and then eventually sleep.this could go on forever because he is wide awake after I lay him down. What else can I do? He is so difficult!
Did anyone sleep with there baby in the "family bed"? My daughter is 3 weeks old and because she is nursing every 2 hours or so, I have her in bed with me on her back. It has worked out fine but I have ready so many books and our Hospital said that is was super dangerous. I tired the bassinet and didn't work and she will sleep in her car seat for a few hours but perfers the bed. My husband thinks that now that Sophia is in our bed, that we will never get it out. Any baby sleeping tips and when do they start sleeping for more then 2 or 3 hours at a time? I do the safe sleep where there are no blankets or pillows around her and she is on her back and I will pull the boobie out when she is hungry..Actually I sleep topless (Sorry for TMI) it just makes nursing eaiser at night. Our Bed is in the center of the room so that I can get out of bed and change her eaiser.
baby sleeping tips for 7 month old? I have a 7 month old, who has reflux...and he also still wakes up every 2-3 hours through the night, to feed. I'm at my whits end, on the brink of exhaustion, because he'll wake up at 4:30-5:00 am for good, till his next nap. And today, he slept 25 minutes at 9 am....and he won't go to sleep, but is tired. I'm so exhauted I can barely stay awake. Any tips? I rock him, swing him, pat his but, rub his head, swaddle him. Whatr else is there?
Any tips on getting baby to sleep? Okay - so I previously asked a question about 10 week old baby sleeping in my bed - wasnt sure how i felt about it. With most of the response being that I should attempt to get my LO to sleep on his own!! Well that was part of my question too!! I have been putting him down in his own bassinett - once he's asleep and he only lasts about 20 minutes on average. Sometiems more, sometimes less. I WANT to put him down when hes showing signs of sleepiness, but he squirms right away and begins to cry. I do NOT want to let him "cry it out"... so what are your suggestions there? *He gets a good 2 or 3 hour nap if we are in the car, and hes in his seat out and about - but this wont be happening now since winter is coming and I live pretty far north (-40 etc!) *He doesnt usually take a soother *I try to put him in it through out the day to get used to it... he is happy in it for a few minutes, thats all. *My goal is to get him to start falling asleep on his own - or even with rubs or pats in his own bed. since now he squrims and kicks and cries as soon as i put him in there, but i take him out and rock or nurse him and he falls asleep. Not necassaiily to sleep THROUGH the night as I expect him to wake once or twice to eat- but right now its 5 and 6 times a night at least even when he IS in our bed! *The nighttime routine is bath at 8 pm, nurse, and then usually rock to sleep(because he wont go down on his own) - and he's down by 10 15...for the 20 minutes - sometimes up to an hour or 2, and then hes nursed, and usually falls asleep in my bed. I am fine with him sleeping in my bed for now - but really want him to be used to his own bed - as Id like him in it by the time hes about 6 months, so thats why im trying to make the transition now.(I was using my bed mostly as convenience since he is waking so often to feed - it meant more sleep for all of us!) *Ive also tried swaddling him. he just stares up at me, and then starts kicking, crying etc.and usually gets the blankets undone!! What works best for white noise besides a fan?? (its cold here!)
Any tips for getting babies to sleep through the night? My 7 month old still doesn't sleep through the night. She shares a room with her sister (2.5 years old), so I don't want her to wake her up if she cries. My baby is also pretty stubborn if you leave her to cry herself to sleep. Any ideas? Thanks for the help! She wakes up wanting a bottle, and is usually up for 20 minutes. She goes back to sleep most of the time.
Need tips for "training" a baby to develop normal sleep patterns? My 4 1/2mo. has NO sleep pattern. He fights sleep "every" time I put him down.(which I only do when he's tired). He is up 2x at night still to eat, and up early am. He only catnaps all day off and on. It is extremely difficult as I have other children. Seems I spend all my time trying to get this baby to sleep, yet he doesn't sleep enough. How do people get their babies into a routine? btw: my other children were not difficult like this! They were "easy going" babies He's been getting cereal in his bottle for 2mos. (per dr.s orders)
Any tips on putting my baby to sleep? and other tips, please read>>? My baby is 10 weeks old and my partner does the first night feed, but has to sit up with our baby till nearly 1am, as our baby seems to be wide awake at that time. is this normal?. Also do you think we should be laying him down in our room at a normal hour and letting him cry it out and fall asleep alone?. Personally i think he,s too young to be left alone to sleep. My friends baby is 14 weeks old and she has put her baby in her own room already. I really daren't do this due to risk of cot death etc. My friend also then gets up with her baby at 5.30am and thats her up for the day. I couldn't do this as i have a two year old aswell so need as much sleep as possible. my baby has his last feed at 5.30am then we sleep till 9am. I feel however that i am going the wrong way of doing this. my 2 year old used to sleep with me and my partner, as we lived with my parents when we had him so had to share a room for the first year, so my son now still needs me close by to fall asleep. I dont really mind as he sleeps for ages. I would just like to know how people put their babies to sleep at night, younger babies that is. many thanks.

Strange thing is she seems afraid of the dark, everytime i put the light off she screams, when i turn it on she stops crying but this is affecting her sleep and i have no idea what to do. Does anyone else have this problem and what do you do to try settle your baby to sleep? The frustrating thing is I rang the NHS on the night she seemed unable to sleep at all who asked me lots of questions and said she seemed perfectly healthy as she isnt vomitting, or has fever, they suggested she is probably teething which yes is a possibiilty but she already has 7 teeth and shes never been bad with teething before Is it ok to give juice at night? this is what ive been doing to try settle her. please please help, its gettin really frustrating :(
My 2 month old baby won't sleep! Any tips to help him sleep at night? Until last week, he slept 6-7 hours at night. Now, I cannot get him to sleep until at least 4.30am and then he only sleeps for about 2-3 hours! I'm exhausted. He's eating constantly. I play with him and try to keep him stimulated in the day. He does sleep in the day (and I sleep with him!) for about 3 hours and maybe an hour or two extra. I thought babies at this age slept a lot!? He just will not sleep at night. I get him to sleep at first, then 10 minutes later he wakes up again! Arrrrggghh. HELP! He was so great a week or two ago, he was the best sleeper. I also add cereal to his night time meal (breastmilk in bottle) because he gets reflux at night when I lay him on his back (doctor told me to add). Also, I wanted to add....we swaddle him most nights, he's on Prevacid for the reflux as well as the cereal. We give him a bath most nights and then feed him. I can generally get him to sleep if I breastfeed him for a few minutes for comfort but then he wakes as soon as we put him down! He also sleeps on a incline for the reflux...yep we tried everything! Any other ideas??? When will it actually get better??
Tips on baby that cant' sleep because he knocks his soother out of his mouth and cries? I swaddle my son tightly because he fights his sleep and the restriction reminds him of the womb and will edventually soothe him. Well now he is 5 months old and can 'unswaddle' himself in a matter of seconds and his wavign arms knock his soother out of his mouth and than cry and not sleep. I go and put it back in and within 5 seconds the problem happens again. Also this happens when I sleep with him. It took me about an hour (felt like 2) to get him alseep last night. He still doesnt' put it in properly by himself, and when he is tired he doesn't even try to reach, he is just grumpy. Any creative tips?

how do all of you Non-Cry It Out Moms get your baby to sleep? I can't do the cry it out method and was just wanting some tips to put my baby to sleep without totally rocking her to sleep every night. I love to rock her I just don't want her to only be able to get to sleep being rocked. She is 8 1/2 months old
