When will my baby sleep through the night? How do I get him to? My son is going to be three months old tomorrow and he still doesnt sleep through the night. He goes to sleep around 6:30pm and gets up at 12am, 4am, and 7am. Ive tried waking him up and feeing him before I go to sleep but he always gets up at the same time as if he has a clock built in his brain! Ive heard that your baby should be sleeping through the night by 3 months old. What should I do? Should I put cereal in his bottle?

Our four-week-old baby seems to have caught his mummy's cold and so he is not sleeping well when he gets stuffed up, and it seems to get worse at night and when he cries. How many hours should an 11 week old baby sleep for in the night? My baby is 11 weeks old today and we put him to bed at about 10pm when we go to bed and he wakes at 1am and 5am and doesnt normally go back to sleep until 10am for about an hour unless we take him out in the pram he sleeps longer, is this a normal sleeping pattern or should we try and get him into a routine and put him to bed earlier?
How can i get my baby to go to sleep? I know the right thing is what ever works, but I have tried everything. My son is 6 wks old and he is very inconsistent in his sleep patterns, i have been reading this book called babywise and it says that a baby needs to have a good sleep pattern for their development. It talks of putting the baby down when they are still awake but I can't do that my baby cries when i do that, and isn't letting the baby cry even worse, so how do i accomplish this to get my baby sleeping better.
How long does your baby sleep at night? How old is your baby and how long do they sleep for? My baby is almost 10 weeks old and is still waking up 2-3 times a night. *yawn* lol. I feed her when she wakes up, but have just read that you can try settle them in other ways instead of feeding so they learn they don't need to eat during the night. Has anyone else tried this to get their baby to sleep longer? I've always assumed that she was crying because she was hungry...
How does your baby sleep at night? I put my 4 month old baby boy in his crib for the first time last night. (Thanks to all who answered my question yesterday. It helped alot.) Previously, he had been sleeping in my room in a bassinet. He slept fine until about one in the morning and he woke up crying. When I went to get him I saw that he was trying to roll onto his belly and got frustrated because he hasn't quite mastered that skill yet. He can roll from belly to back though. I brought him back to my room and laid him in his bassinet and he went back to sleep, but still was waking me up because he was trying to roll over and couldn't. I have been letting him sleep on his belly during the day when he naps. But it seems like he is getting to where he wants to sleep on his belly all the time. (Thats the only way his dad can sleep.) I asked my mother's opinion and she told me that I always slept on my belly as a baby. So I was wondering everyone elses opinion. How do you let your child sleep? He is also good with holding his head up already. From the day he was born he was able to roll over onto his side and even scooted down to the bottom of the bassinet they put him in. Though he can't crawl yet, he can lift himself up on all fours. He just can't figure out how to get going, lol. He can army crawl like a pro though. He is very active. His Pa says the only time he is still is when he is asleep. Which isn't true, lol. He rolls from side to side then too.

I'm trying to get my 7 week old baby on a sleep schedule, but it means less bonding time for baby and daddy? It's important to me that our new baby boy become used to a regular sleeping routine. It involves getting the baby bathed and fed and in his crib each night around 7:30pm. Unfortunately, my husband is in the restaurant industry and works 9am-7pm most days of the week. As important as a baby sleep routine is to me, I know time for my husband and baby is just as important. How can I make this work? Thanks for any and all suggestions!
How do you get a baby to sleep in a noisy place? Where I come from everyone lives in detached houses, and a birth leads to sign on the doors saying "please don't ring doorbell / baby sleeping / shh" etc. Now I live in an apartment in a city full of apartments and close living, what happens if you have a baby here? Right now I can hear a TV, traffic, some home repairs (banging), and it's a quiet time too. Any parents with babies in apartments?

How can I help my baby sleep at night? She is only two weeks old so I'm not asking how to get her to sleep through the night. I want to know how I can get her to realize night time is for sleeping. I try and feed her as late as possible, around 11:00 or 12:00 and then set an alarm to feed her twice before morning, so I'm not neglecting feedings or diapers or anything. The last couple nights I finished feeding and changing her and she was wide awake and was not happy when I layed her down to sleep.

Is it safe to have a toddler and our new baby sleep in the same room? We only have two bedrooms. My daughter is currently 25 months old and I just found out I'm pregnant with child #2 (Yay!). We will be switching my daughter over to the daybed in that room. I worry (and wonder how others have dealt with) have a baby in a crib in the same room as a toddler. Is there any safety contraptions that could keep her from getting to the new born?
how to help baby sleep in crib? Well, I was letting my 3 month old sleep in her car seat due to having a cold and needing to be in upright position. She would sleep for a good 7 hours at night, however I have put her in her back in her crib and she is now getting up about every 3 hours again. Does anyone know how long it will take her to get used to her crib again? It's only been 3 nights, but I'm exausted!
Any ideas on how to help my baby sleep longer than when my alarm clock goes off? My almost 5 month old is a really good sleeper. She sleeps from 8 pm-5:00 am (when my alarm clock goes off). I know it wakes her up. I'm having difficulty getting ready for work in the morning as it is just me and the kids. My hubby is away at the police academy for another 11 weeks. Her room is attached to ours so there is no way of getting out of her not hearing the alarm clock. Any ideas?
how did you get your baby to sleep when you stopped swaddling? My daughter is 6 months old now & is just too big & strong to be [or stay] swaddled but she has the hardest time falling asleep without it. I've tried putting her to bed without it but find myself in the room for about an hour if I'm lucky trying to get her to fall asleep. Mostly the problem is that she wiggles so much. She will twitch and startle herself, waking back up again. I can get her to sleep if I rock her but I don't like that because she will get used to me rocking her and wake up when I lay her down...So what did you mamas & daddy's do to get your babies sleeping?!?!?!?! *Aside from crying it out...I won't do that EVER* Pepper...I am not worried about the "inconvenience" as you say of having to put my daughter to sleep. I am bothered by the amount of time it takes her to fall asleep because the longer it takes, the longer she is up, the more tired & frustrated SHE gets. It makes it even harder for her to fall asleep & I feel bad when I know she is so tired but can't quite get comfortable enough to nod off. I don't try and get her to sleep "on cue" either...I lay her down when I see her getting sleepy NOT when I think she should be in bed or when I just happen to feel like it. Like you I believe that parenting is not about convenience but about nurturing and loving the beautiful little beings we bring into the world. I can understand if you misunderstood what I was trying to say but I just want to be clear about my reason for asking the question. cherisebeck- Though I disagree with the CIO method,I never called you or anyone else who practices it uncaring.
"I am a new mom and I am wondering when should I let my baby sleep in his own room?"? He is a month and 1 week old. Also how did you get your baby to sleep at night and not during the day? How to get 6 month old baby sleep at night? My 6 month old used to sleep at night, but now sleeps in the morning.. I have tried keeping him up but he just falls back to sleep cause hes up all night.. How do I put my baby to sleep and get him to sleep in his crib? I love sleeping with him! but he is getting older and bigger and I only have a twin size bed.He keeps falling out. I breastfeed him to sleep. He is 9 months. How do I get him to just fall asleep and be able to sleep in his own bed?
can't get my stubborn baby to sleep!!? Ok, so here it is. My son is almost 5 months and does not sleep through the night at all. He began to sleep better at night for a little while, but just recently has been waking up in the middle of the night refusing to go to sleep. He is on a bedtime routine, and my husband and I keep it pretty constant maybe a little earlier on nights he seems too tired. He usually does well about falling asleep at bedtime, but sometimes wakes up about once or twice between 9-11 and we give him his pacifier and he falls back to sleep. He then wakes up about 12 and eats a bottle, and that's where it has been falling apart. Then he seems to not sleep well, he wakes either every hour or stays up for a few hours. He sometimes won't completely fall back to sleep until 7 in the morning. Tonight he had his bath like normal, but after his bath he did not want to eat his bottle, he just wanted to sleep. So we laid him down, and he fell asleep for about an hour. I tried feeding him his bottle then, he still did not really want it. He finally fell back to sleep and woke again in another hour, this time he ate his bottle, and fell back to sleep...for an hour! He woke up at 930, 1030, 1130, 1200, 1230, 100, and 130 and has been up since (it is 230 now) Now I have not done the CIO method really with him, any attempts I have made he is too stubborn. One night I tried and he seriously did not give up for a few hours! (of course i went in and checked on him frequently, reassuring him that Mommy's here, but that made him cry more rather than calm him) but tonight I had enough and decided I was just going to do it. It's been an hour so far. He does use a pacifier and I don't know how to break him of it, everywhere I have read says that he needs to self-soothe. He was a NICU baby, and was intubated for 2 wks, and afterwards given a pacifier, so I do not know how to break him from it so he can self-soothe. He also co-sleeps but I am trying to get him to sleep in his own crib recently (and its not really making a difference where he is for the night wakings) When we first brought him home I was so paranoid that any little sound he made I woke up so I finally just put him in bed with us so I could be a little more at ease. We actually made him his own bed type thing with my pregnancy pillow, so he basically sleeps like a king and does not sleep so well flat on his back. (He actually sleeps best on his side) I know these are bad things but I don't know how to break them. And how do I go about this CIO method...I'm not sure I know exactly what to do...I feel terrible letting him cry but tonight, I seriously am at my breaking point! I'm feeling beyond irritable, and depressed, I came out here and cried while he cried because I just want him to sleep at night so I can sleep!! Also I think he might be teething and am not sure if that might be the reason for these recent constant awakenings?! How do I go about CIO? How do I do it with such a stubborn baby??? How do I break him of the pacifier?? How do I get him in his own crib??? (and I have tried the t-shirt thing doesnt work with him) PLEASE HELP ME! THANKS!!
How to Get Baby Moving for Ultrasound? I'm going in on the 31st for a rescheduled 3D u/s. It was rescheduled since Baby slept through the last one and they couldn't get any good shots. This is also the first u/s that Baby's dad will be to, so it'd be really exciting for everyone if Baby was up and moving around. Does anyone have any suggestions to really wake him up? I drink a lot of juice and caffeinated beverages (I have a heart condition and the caffeine actually does more good than harm), so I don't think that'll work. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
There's a spider somewhere in my room and I can't get to sleep :(? How do you get a 8-9 month old baby to sleep? As I type, she is still awake making her little baby talk. me and my sister(her mother) are trying everything. even my mother is now up( Sunday, 3:32 AM 01/06/08) trying to put her to sleep. this is an ongoing trial of her never sleeping. we try keeping her up all day so she would have no choice but to sleep at night. but that doesn't work. she spits out the pacifier, wont take a bottle and refuses to be held down or go in her crib. she cant be kept on the bed because she keeps trying to crawl off. i don't know what to do anymore. i don't know if i should call a Priest for an Exorcism or just put her in her crib and have her cry herself to sleep. does anyone have any tried adn true remedy's for putting troublesome Night Owl babies to sleep?? Any Help is Greatly Appreciated.
How do I teach my 12 month old baby to go to sleep without his bottle? Help will be so appreciated? I have gotten into the terrible habit of letting my baby go to sleep with his bottle. How can I get back on a sleep schedule and my baby on it with me? I need help getting back on a better sleep schedule! My 1mo old baby keeps me up at night and sleeps during the day and I try to sleep when she sleeps. Sometimes I am lucky and get to and sometimes I don't get any sleep, because I have 3 other kids to take care of and other things like the house and appointment's to take care of. I have always been a night owl anyways, but I would still manage to get enough sleep to make it through the day and now I can't get enough. It also makes it harder for me to sleep at night when I do get the chance because of sleeping earlier during the day. What can I do? Any suggestions?
How Do You Get Your Baby Attached To a Lovie? I really want to get my 9 month old to associate a lovie, blankie or stuffed animal etc with sleep time. How can I go about helping her get attached to one? Thanks
How to help a newborn baby sleep at night that has a cold? Our four-week-old baby seems to have caught his mummy's cold and so he is not sleeping well when he gets stuffed up, and it seems to get worse at night and when he cries. Is there anything we can do to help him sleep and relieve his congestion? Apart from his cold he seems well enough and is eating well.
How to get my baby to sleep? My baby is a little over 5 months old, and last month my husband and I decided to let him cry it out at bed time (with us going in a frequent intervals to verbally comfort him.). That seemed to work really well for a couple of weeks--he would sleep about six uninterrupted hours--until he got a small cold and woke up every hour or so. He's much better, but now it seems like he'll only sleep deeply in his car seat, and we're not sure what to do. He no longer fusses for a few minutes when we put hmi down for a nap in his crib; instead, his screams for what seems like hours. I'm not sure we're doing the best thing for him by letting him nap in his car seat, though. He's no longer sleeping well through the night, but we're not sure what else to do. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

How do I get my 9 month old to go to sleep at a reasonable time? Ok I guess this is really a couple questions... 1. How do I get him to go to bed at a reasonable time. 2. How do I get him to STAY asleep. 3. How do I get him to go to sleep on his own The first 2 questions are the most important!! My son is 9 months old and has no problem sleeping in his bed....when he sleeps! We go to sleep anywhere from 12am to 2am. He wakes up twice (sometimes more) between then and 9am, wanting a bottle everytime and won't sleep till he gets one. I understand this is bad for his teeth BUT you try being up days and days at a time! Its easy to give in! He takes 1 nap during the day that won't be over like 30 mins at the most! I have tried ROUTINE...we do bath, story, cuddle time with a bottle and then I lay him down...NOPE! I've tried wearing him out until hes just exhausted...NOPE! I just deal with a fussy baby and then no sleep. I've tried letting him cry it out...NOPE! And I keep him in a room without stimulation...hes stimulated! haha I feel totally helpless and I'm getting very bothered and stressed which makes it worse for both of us! SO...Please any recommendations are welcome! I'm tired and desperate! haha. He will not take cereal...never has.
How can I get my baby to sleep!? Ok. I have a beautiful and smart six month old girl but she is still getting up every hour or two at night and if I take her out of the swaddle, she won't sleep for more than twenty minutes. I'm breastfeeding, she refuses a bottle and needs to be nursed to sleep so even if she didn't cry for hours and hours if my husband gets her instead, he couldn't be of much help. We are exhausted, me especially and I am wondering if there is anything out there that I could do. I did resort to crying it out for a few nights but it just doesn't feel right and she seems really clingy after we did it like she was afraid I was going to leave her again. This is the same behavior she uses if I am not the one to get her at night and my husband does. She's great with him during the day but if he gets her at night she screams for hours. She is a delightful baby during the day, smart and ahead of schedule. It is mostly just sleep that I am most concerned about. She doesn't nap much during the day and I have the same bath, book, bed routine every night. I've even trying the sling before bed but most of the time I'm too tired to walk her for that long. HELP!
How to tell if a child is being sexually molested? I have a little cousin he's 3yrs old with down syndrome. He lives with my aunt and her husband. I just recently babysat the baby for a few hours. I thought he'd cry because he's never been left at home with anyone before or under someone's supervision other than his parents. To my surprise, he had and awesome time and didn't even care that mommy was gone all those hours. Now I don't want to start assuming anything or making any false accusations.. but when he wet his diaper and I changed it i noticed that his anus was a little bit stretched out and it appeared to be darker than his skin color. I've changed other babies diapers before and i've never seen anything like it. The baby held his legs up & spreading them as i cleaned him up.. i thought maybe thats normal and he's just playing with his legs. My aunt had called to see how he was doing and i told him he was okay and playing just fine.. didn't ever care that she wasn't there. I told her that i changed his diaper and she goes "wow, he let you change his diaper..?" "he doesn't let anyone change his diaper.. sometimes not even me". I know for a fact no one but the father and my aunt change his diaper cause no one ever visits them. He sort of separated my Aunt from our family and her friends. People have noticed she isn't the same ever since she married this man 4 years ago. So that means the only other person changing the baby's diaper is the father.. so when she says "he doesn't allow anyone else changing his diaper" that anyone else must be the baby's father. Why wouldn't a baby want anyone to change their diaper when he's wet.. he can't be embarrassed he's only 3 yrs old.. and he's a little slower than other children. So anyway.. they get back home and they find the baby sleeping.. and they say the baby must really like me because it's hard for him to go to sleep. I told them it was a little challenging but a little singing had him knocked out... she goes "wow, i thought he'd cry because sometimes when i leave him alone with his father he'd cry for me to come back" That right there had me messed up... then we were all sitting in the living room and the baby climbed on his fathers lap and layed his head on his belly.. and then he started bouncing up and down..! it could just be that he's playing with his daddy.. and i'm thinking negative.. but it's all odd.. i never see other kids doing things like that...... or acting like that... i feel this negative energy... ive felt that way before but i never said anything because i thought i was just thinking wrong.. but the whole baby won't let anyone take his diaper off and she's referring to her husband as that anyone. the baby cries for her when she steps out for a few hours, the baby bounces on his lap.. and then besides that his anus looks a little stretched just not normal for a 3 yr old. come on now.. i don't want to falsely accuse this man so i thought about putting up a few secret cameras around the house.. but that would be illegal.. and i want to tell my aunt something but she'd think i'm sick.. being thats the baby's father. but he is very manipulative and controls everything my aunt has.. and picks out everything the baby wears and eats and he's had a dirty past. i think he's been locked up for drugs and other crimes etc.. he also stole 1000 dollars from my mom when he promised to find her an apartment by speaking to his landlord friend. he said the landlord kept the 1000 dollars as a deposit but when my mom ask them about it the landlord said he never received any money from him. umm idk what to think.. & i'm a little concerned. What if he is sexually molesting and abusing my cousin.. than the baby don't deserve to be in that household.. but what if i'm wrong and accuse this man of something and my aunt won't want to speak to me again.. or see my cousin. idk.. Elizabeth, thanks for your input. Not at all.. i dont dislike this man.. he's actually very nice in public.. too nice.. it just feels odd. too many coincidences. and you're right that isn't any prove. but it's odd.. it just doesnt feel right. The baby has down syndrome and he still doesn't talk. The baby eats nothing but vegetables and fruits. he hardly eats meat. His favorite is mashed beans for lunch. but he's very picky.. and according to my aunt he rarely constipated. in fact he gets diarrhea often. so idk what to say to that. it could be that is normal for his anus to look like that now.. but i was there from birth.. i was the one who cut the umbilical cord at his birth because the dad was a lilttle scared and i dont ever remember it being that way.. i guess since i don't have prove it's best i dont say anything and just keep my eyes open but it doesn't feel right.. im not trying to accuse the man.. or make him the enemy.. idk why you guys say i don't like him.. we actually get a long just fine.. but you can tell when someone is fake... he kisses his son a lot in front of me.. and when im looking.. and my aunts face expressions are like he's being fake because he hardly does that when ppl are over.. my mom just told me that hes been locked up like a week ago.. so i don't think i was paranoid when it felt odd months ago.. i hope im wrong... i really do,..
How to get your baby to sleep without tears or breastfeeding? My nearly 7 month old daughter won't seem to fall asleep unless I am nursing her. I don't believe in the cry it out method at all, I'm more into attachment parenting than Ferberizing if anything. However, I would like to get my daughter to a point where we can lay her down in bed and she will get herself to sleep. I am willing to get to this point slowly, but I would like to be able to get her asleep without nursing fairly soon. Any suggestions? To those of you who have suggested that I am doing the wrong thing by seeking out alternatives to nursing my daughter to sleep: The reason I am doing this is not because I am trying to force her to be independent or because I am looking for convenience, but because I have other responsibilities in order to keep a roof over my daughters head. I already work at home and go to school online, but am seeking another job in order to get my bills paid. Unfortunately, I am unable to find a second job I can do at home so am seeking one that involves me leaving my baby with someone else for a short period of time. I think it is best for her that she be comfortable and able to get her regular naps during this time. I am planning on allowing her to self wean, and will continue to nurse her the majority of the time. I co-sleep and follow many attachment parenting ideals, though I mix it with what works for my family best. I have a very happy child and enjoy every minute of her that is possible. Ho

How do i get my baby to sleep in her bed? I have a 9 month old almost 10 months when she was around 3 months we found out she had asthma so we had to keep a close eye on her so she start sleeping with us and now she will not sleep in her bed we put her in but she will wake up so we get her out and rock her back to sleep then we put her back in and she wake up again so after a while we just put her in the bed with us so we can get some sleep i don't know what else to do
Could someone explain to me exactly how you can share the load of night feeding a new baby if you breastfeed? I'm just coming up on 6 months pregnant with my first baby and I'm getting just about as fed up as can be with the mounting pressure from people about breastfeeding. Before I fell pregnant it seemed a no-brainer to me, I always just assumed I would breastfeed, but as the time gets closer I'm beginning to panic. I was always apprehensive about having children anyway (I've seen enough weepy, black-eyed, stressed out new parents to put me off doing it for 33 years) but I love my husband so much and I didn't want to be 'selfish' for the rest of my life so we made the decision to go for it. My husband has always said that we will go through it together and he will support me through the tough times etc, but the more I think about it, the more it dawns on me that he won't be able to do anything to help if i'm breastfeeding. He will be out at work 14-15 hrs a day and then I will have no choice but to do all the night feeds alone. 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, for goodness only knows how long! I understand breast milk is easier to digest and therefore the babe will often need frequent, and possibly long, feeds through the night, then again all through the day. How do you ever get a break? How do you ever hand the babe over and catch up on a little sleep, or take an evening out, or go out for the day with the babe if you aren't comfortable feeding in public (I won't be). What do you do if you have visitors staying and you don't want to feed in front of them? I had aways kinda hoped hubby and I would share the sleep deprivation. Maybe I'd do the week days and he'd let me catch up on a weekend. I understand expressing is an option, but when?? From what I can see I will be feeding every few hours 24hrs a day, probably have horribly sore nipples, and I just can't see how you would have time to express as well. Let alone enough for a whole night off. Then there's the pain. I keep getting told about the pain and the cracked, bleeding nipples, the leaky breasts, the discomfort of being over full.... the list goes on and on. I understand about all the benefits for the baby of course and I am told it's very bonding for you both but I have to admit, I am scared stiff here! How do you make this work? How do you share the load of a new baby and still do the right thing by your child. I'm scared. I don't want to do it all on my own :( I love my bump and I would NEVER wish it back now, but I am ashamed to admit, on some level, I feel like I wish I'd never let myself be pursuaded into having a family in the first place. Any advice you could give would be so appreciated right now. Sorry for the rant...
How to get an aries interested? I am a virgo female and I have known this aries male for 4 years now. We dated briefly in the beginning, but things went too fast and that scared me off. I was young and wasn't ready at the time for something serious. He had just had a baby with his ex and I still had feelings for my ex. It was all just bad timing. The Aries was so sweet to me, treated me with respect, and really cared. He was unlike any other guy I had been with up until that point. Looking back I realize how foolish I was to not give that relationship a longer chance. I broke off the relationship with him to go back to my ex, a Libra. For a year, whenever the aires and I would run into each other, he would throw little jabs at me about me leaving him for my ex. I really hurt him. I felt horrible. I just didn't feel that way for him at that time. We eventually were able to become friends again, but the chemistry was always there. When I was single and so was he, we would hook up and spend time with one another. He would do whatever I asked to help with things like moving and helping my friends with male chores even when he was dating someone. I could always confide in him and tell him things. I had an off and on relationship for 5 years with my Libra ex and the Aries male was my "on" guy when I was "off" with my Libra. I was torn. I wouldn't sleep with both, just the Libra. I ended up getting pregnant with my Libra and we got engaged. The Aries begged me not to marry him, saying that if I wanted male support he'd be there for me. My first love was with the Libra and I ended up marrying him. I stopped talking to the Aries because our friendship threatened my Libra. Soon after our baby was born, she was diagnosed with a terminal illness. It was devastating and our marriage suffered because of the stress and heartache. We soon separated and eventually filed for divorce. When my Aires heard about my daughters illness, he reached out towards me. I saw him for the first time since I'd gotten married and it was like old times. I told him how immature I was to have not given him the chance I should have and I was dumb. Telling him he was the nicest guy I ever had dated. I ended up sleeping over, but we weren't intimate. Just kissed and held each other. After that, we talked a few times and made plans, but at last minute he'd always bail. I finally called him out on it and he said he wanted to spend time with me but didn't know his boundaries and he had never been in a situation like this before. I wrote him a long email explaining myself and apologizing for anything I had done in the past and would like to get to know him again since a lot of changes had gone on recently. If he didn't want to do that, to just be honest with me and let me know and I'd stop reaching out for him. I thought after knowing each other for so long, he could have been upfront and honest with me. He never replied to my email and he never responded to my text messages. I texted him a couple times asking why he was acting this way and why he just fell off the face of the earth. It wasn't like him to be that way with me. I left him alone after that, but it has really bothered me. I ended up reaching out and wishing him a Merry Christmas and he responded and said it back. I want to reach out again for at least to get an explanation, but at the same time I don't want to look desperate. I'm not sure what I should do here. It's really bothered me and I think about it a lot. What do you suggest? Should I go for it or just cut my losses and leave it alone?
how to help new baby sleep when mom snores loudly!? I'll be a daddy in april. and Today, when i was awoken by my wife via her fright train like snoring. I asked myself How is my baby going to get any sleep with her mom snoring so loudly? after a lengthy search online. I got zero helpful tips on this problem. Help! How do I get an over tired baby to sleep? ? I had to keep my baby up longer than he is used to... I tried laying him down. but he wouldn't sleep... I tried feeding him more and rocking him to try and calm him down but he won't sleep. Any suggestions? He is too tired!
How long should a 7 week old baby sleep in a 24 hour period?? Hey, I wanted to know how much my 7 week old should be sleeping in a 24 hour period...I think she gets about 12 or 13 hours the most..is this normal?
how to get a 7mth old to sleep all night without a bottle? my seven mth old has yet to sleep all night without needing a bottle. he gets up around 3 then 4 then 5 after that he will sleep until 8. i don't know what to do, i don't think i had this problem when my other children were babies. but that was 9 yrs ago i can't remember
How do I get baby to sleep when we are out? My baby will only sleep in her crib... I know most people would love to have this problem, but it has it's downsides. We didn't want to make rocking our baby to sleep a dependency she would rely on, so we only did it here and there, as needed. So, if I try to rock her or pat her butt and bounce her to gently put her to sleep when we are out, she wails because she just wants to be laid down. She is 14 weeks old and sleeps through the entire night, since 7 weeks old! (10pm-7am) She puts herself to sleep in her crib -- no crying or fussing :) So, overall, a VERY good baby when it comes to sleeping. BUT, I feel like now, I can't bring her anywhere when it's nap time..... She'll sleep in her car seat until you take it out of the car, so that's pointless. Any suggestions on how to be able to get her to sleep when out? And I'm not referring to running errands as I can respect her schedule and not do errands at nap, but it's things like family's house on Thanksgiving...we had to go and leave for nap and go back after nap....not much fun. And she won't sleep in the pack n play, swing or bouncer chair. (She does sleep in bouncer chair, not crib at daycare -- so, I know it's possible) I think a few of you misunderstood my question -- I don't want to leave her!! But, when she gets sleepy and tired and is ready for a nap, she starts crying as would any baby. My problem is she ONLY wants to sleep in HER crib and I can't get her to sleep when we are at friends and familys. I obviously wouldn't leave her at there house or unattending! GEEZ! But, if she could just take a nap in her pack n play bassinet in the bedroom at there house, I could hook up her monitor just fine. And she doesn't have a problem with noises, so she could sleep in the living room for all I care, but she won't sleep ANYWHERE BUT HER CRIB! That's what I'm asking for help with....
How to get my baby to start sleeping in her bed? Please help!!? My 9 month old daughter has been sleeping in my bed for a few months now. She was sleeping in her bed all night but began waking up in the middle of the night from teething and it was just easier to let her sleep with me. Now I worry about her rolling off the bed or falling during the night. I have always rocked her to sleep and as soon as I put her in her crib she wakes up screaming. I can lay her in my bed and she will sleep fine! Any suggestions? I cannot let her cry. I have tried for about 10 min but I feel it does nothing but scare her!
How Do I Get My Baby On A Sleep Schedule? My baby turns 10 weeks tomorrow and I still don't have her on a schedule.(my 1st baby) Last night she went to sleep at 11 and the night before at 12. She has no trouble sleeping in the day... Am I letting her sleep to much in the day?? She takes about 5 naps in the day but they're all for about 15 to tweny minutes except for 1 which is about an hour and a half. I play with her so she is wide awake during the day and just sleeps outa nowhere... What I do? Help!
HOW CAN I GET MY 8 WEEK BABY TO SLEEP THRU NIGHT? My son is 8 weeks old and has managed to get into a routine of bottle feeding, typically 2am, 6am, 10am, 2pm, 6pm and 10pm. However he has just started dropping the 10pm feed this week, and sleeps through from 6pm until 2am. Can anyone give me any advice on getting him to drop the 2am feed rather than th 10pm feed? Thank you?!
Any suggestions on how to get my baby to sleep in the crib? Hey guys I have a 8 month old baby girl who has never been able to sleep in anything but the swing! (She is strapped in) She has always been a light and picky sleeper and it took us forever to even find anything she would fall asleep in! So I am slowly trying to get her into her crib. Any suggestions or similar experiences?
how do i get my 10 month old baby to sleep through the night? my 10month old son has been wakin up 3-6 times a night for every since he was born and will not go back to sleep without a bottle and does not take a pacifier and i am expecting another baby in feburary so i really need to get him to sleep through the night before the other baby gets here.
Sleep Training: How Many Nights Did It Take Your Baby To Get The Hang Of It? Mostly I would like her to be able to be put down drowsy and not need to fall asleep or be in my arms to sleep. My baby is almost 4 months old and I am considering giving it a go on laying her down awake trying to have her fall asleep. Is she too young? And HOW MANY NIGHTS CAN I EXPECT IT TO TAKE? Is it hard?!? What about How Long did it take to finally get baby to sleep each time?
how to get baby to sleep in crib instead of swing? My 4 month old loves to sleep in the swing, and has been sleeping there every night and every nap. I realize this can't go on forever (batteries are expensive) so has anyone had the experience of getting their baby out of this habit? Please only reply if you are a parent and have had this situation :) thanks!!!
How can I get my baby to sleep through the night and weaning off breast too? He's 6 1/2 months old. I don't nurse as much now. He's on formula and solids too. He's been waking up every night lately. I have to nurse him until he falls back asleep. But I'm going to stop breast feeding in couple of weeks. Bedtime's at 9 and on a full tummy.
Exactly how dangerous is it to let a baby sleep on their stomach? My 5 week old is having a lot of trouble with gas and constipation. As a result, he has a very restless sleep. He grunts and screams in pain throughout his sleep, and we have exhausted our resources trying to help him. Nothing we have tried works, and the pediatrician just keeps telling us over and over again that his infrequent movements are normal. I understand that breastfed babies can go days without a movement and that be normal. What isn't normal, is when for the past 4 weeks, a newborn is so unvomfortable that each "bowel movement" (if you can call it that), is a skid mark, no more than that. What isn't normal, is when, for the past 4 weeks, a newborn is so uncomfortable and in so much pain that he can't settle to sleep well enough, and just grunts and screams in pain all night. What isn't normal is a suppository (ordered by a doctor in the hospital and given under medical supervision) takes 2 hours to work. What isn't normal is a newborn not able to sleep more than 45 minutes because he is so uncomfortable and in so much pain. I really wish the doctor would help. My son is exhausted, and in pain, and we are exhausted too. Well, I may have found a solution. This morning at 4:30am, I nursed him and laid him down on his belly. He fell asleep instantly and has consistently been passing gas, but has not grunted or screamed in pain once. He has been sleeping peacefully and comfortably for almost 3 hours now. If this is what is going to help him relax and get a good sleep, if it's going to make him comfortable and relieve some pain, then I'm willing to continue to do it. But all this fear around belly sleeping causing SIDS has me worried that if I let him continue, then he may end up being a victim. I waited a LONG time for him. So, exactly how dangerous is letting a baby sleep on their belly? Should I be too worried or should I let him keep doing it if it means pain relief? He is at low risk, other than the belly sleeping. We do not smoke, he is exclusively breastfed, and he was a normal birthweight. Jacobs Mommy, I didn't even think of that. We do have that already though, the Angel Care Monitor. We got it because our daughter had one apneic spell at 6 months, and kept it because our son went apneic twice at birth. Cindy V, he sleeps in our room, and I have tried eliminating things from my diet..chocolate, pop, dairy..nothing has worked. I even went a day on nothing but water to see if that would help, and it hasn't. I'm not sure what to do anymore, but this, since the doctors won't help. Yes, Mrs. Mum, you did make sense. Thank you for waking to help. That diet looks easy enough, as I am allergic to fish and seafood and don't consume it anyway, and I'm also lactose intolerant, so don't consume much dairy either, a yogurt or two a day, maybe. Thank you. Tonight is grocery night anyway. I will pick this stuff up and give it a try.
How do you make your baby sleep? My son has just become two years old. Ever since he was born, in an attempt to make him sleep at least before 22 o'clock, I routinely put off the lights, lie down with him, pat him and sing a lullaby every day. But he doesn't sleep at all and starts crying until I carry him, rock him gently and sing a song. Only on a few occasions did he go to sleep without being carried while I was reading a book beside him, but that happened very late at night, around or after midnight. Why is it the case with him? He wakes up around 8 in the morning and goes to a daycase where he takes a nap for around 2 hours. Does he wake up too late or does he take a nap too long? He is gaining weight and it's getting a bit harder for me to carry him every night. How do you manage to make your baby sleep without carrying him? jared: Ok, I'm sure it works... if you don't mind ruining his brain. Sarah Lane, latoya j: I am doing the same way and it doesn't work.
Question for co-sleepers - why do you co-sleep and how often does baby wake? I co-sleep with my 7 month old and have on and off since birth. The reason we do it is mostly because he did not sleep well on his own and therefore neither did we - though at one point he got to sleeping 8 hours in his moses basket but then he outgrew it. He now wakes a couple of times a night in his 8-10 hour stretch. The most he seems to go is 4-6 hours without waking. Any co-sleeping babies sleep 8-12 hours without waking?
how can i make my 11 months old baby sleep in her crib all night? she sleeps with me in my bed and wakes up almost every hour first a then every three more or less, how can i get her to sleep in her crib and for most of the night, at least 6 hours without waking up but without letting her cry all night? i'm not looking for her independence or intimate time w/my husband, it's that i can't sleep!!! i let her cry once and lasted a lot more that an hour, i just can't, i want her to feel i'm there when she needs me....
I think I'm about to have a nervous breakdown from lack of sleep...? Hello Mothers, I currently have a 10 month old baby. So that has meant 10 months of pretty much no sleep. I've been handling things pretty good for the most part but some days I just want to cry and run away. I've tried different things to get her to sleep. Cereal in bottle Crying it out (although this didn't last long because I can't stand to hear her cry. She also ends up drinking 4 ounces sometimes so I don't want her to starve) Playing around with her nap schedule I am at my wit's end. I feel like I can't think straight or function properly. Also when I do get the chance to sleep for a bit it takes me awhile to unwind. My brain is on auto pilot and it takes me 30 minutes to an hour to fall asleep. I am pissed off right now and VERY jealous of parents who have babies that have slept since 1, 2, 3, 4 months old. I just want to scream. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO??????????????????????????????? I have heard that some babies don't sleep until they are a year and a half. Just thinking about this makes me even more upset. I don't want anyone telling me this is how it is with a baby because not every parent is waking up to feed their 10 month old baby. Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
Someone please give me tips on how to get a month old baby to go to sleep? My baby thats 3 1/2 weeks old will not go to sleep. every time i try and get her to go to sleep she starts crying again. when i think shes finally fell asleep she starts crying. please help on some tips im going crazy
Now that my 9 month old learned to sit herself up, how can I get her to lie down for a nap? She just starting sitting herself up (by pushing up from a side lying or belly down position). Now she refuses to lie down at all, which makes nap time rather tricky. Instead she's sleeping sitting up -- or as close to up as possible. It's almost as though her legs are crossed "indian style" and then she slumps her forehead forward on to her mattress. Is this okay? It's not really child's pose, because her bum and upper legs are are down on the mattress. I know babies are more flexible, but it looks like a real potential to cut off circulation or to stretch it a bad way. When I try putting her on her back, she kicks and screams -- she hasn't slept on her back for at least 2 months. When I put her on her tummy, she just sits up. She's had three days now of bad naps. It's been tough getting her down at night, as well, but once she's out, she stays out. THis is a new skill, so maybe I just need to wait it out? I want her to get good quality sleep, so I have only gone in once to change her position, because I'm afraid to wake her. Is there a safe sleep prop or wedge or something? TIA!
How to get my 12 week old baby to stay asleep!? My beautiful little girl will be 12 weeks old on Sunday. She is suffering from colic and tends to have crying spells in the evening. My problem is that when I do eventually settle her, as soon as I put her in her cot she wakes up again, This is any time of the day. She seems to jerk and twitch a lot in her sleep which wakes her up. The only way I can get her to sleep for a long period of time is held closely against my chest. I don't mind this so much during the day but obviously it's not practical at night. Any ideas as to what may help and what may be causing the jerking? I have tried swaddling her but she always manages to wriggle herself free! Thanks. Thank you so much for all your answers! We had a great night! I swaddled my daughter, put her down on her side whilst she was still awake and sat with her for 10 minutes playing her a tune and stroking her face. She cried a couple of times the first hour but as soon as I went in the room she was fine again and soon drifted off. She was brilliant the whole night then so again, thank you all very much for your suggestions!

how do you train a baby to fall asleep in bed? my 12 week old boy will only go to sleep if i am holding him. he falls asleep but as soon as i put him in his bed he wakes up and cries till i pick him up again. i dont intend doing this for years to come and want to get him into the habit of going to bed and feeling relaxed then falling asleep in bed. he falls asleep while feeding (i am breastfeeding) but then i have to pick him up and he wakes up again. any tips please? i am a first time mum and a single parent.
How do I get my baby to sleep? My daughter is 2 months old now and she mainly falls asleep while feeding. She sleeps really well at night (we co-sleep) but during the day is tricky. This is how the day usually goes: After waking from her night sleep she's good by herself for about 15 min. With a lot of entertaining or moving locations when she gets fussy we can keep her entertained for maybe an hour if she just woke up from the night sleep or a really long nap. Her fussiness starts with a cough-like sound with more an more wailing mixed in as times goes by. So then I get her on the breast and it takes about an hour before she's out cold and I can set her down (otherwise she wakes up immediately). But even then she'll only sleep for a few minutes before waking up. Then the process continues but the length of time I can keep her not fussy gets shorter and shorter and she seems to want and not want the breast at the same time. So I try some holding and swaying but it usually doesn't calm her down so I eventually put her on the breast again and then she finally passes out. This is her mid day nap that usually lasts an hour or two. Then the process starts again until she goes to sleep at night. Now I know she can't be hungry every hour especially since she's a very efficient eater when she's hungry and you can tell she doesn't want the breast sometimes. So I definitely think this is a sleep thing. The problem is she'll very rarely go to sleep any other way unless she's totally exhausted. I've been trying to use a pacifier but sometimes she takes to it and sometimes she doesn't. I can't even begin to imagine how to teach her to sleep without the breast because as soon as you tear it away from her she starts wailing immediately or becomes wide awake and will start wailing shortly. I don't mind feeding her to sleep sometimes, maybe that's the problem, but I don't think it's necessary every hour. As this is my first child I'm not really sure how much sleep she should be getting either or if it's normal to start getting fussy after 15 minutes of waking. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Does your baby sleep with a pacifier? Mine is 5 months old and has gotten fond of sleeping with the pacifier, which I know should be discouraged. How can I train her not to "need" it? She wakes up in the night and will cry until she has it. Help!
When/ how will by baby sleep through the night? My son is now 4 months, but was 3 months premature so is still tiny (effectivley the same as a 1 month old I suppose) He feeds every 4 hours, and normally has about 3 ounces. At the moment he is fed at 8, 12, and 4. I didnt know when he might be able to strech out a bit more through night. We do sometimes have to wake him up to feed him, but I am confused that if say he goes for 5 or 5 and a half hours etc then it will confuse our daytime schedule. At the moment he gets up at 8am, has a bath at 7.30pm and feed and bed at 8pm.
How can I get my three month old to take a bottle? I know this question has been asked many times before, but I have tried all the recommendations. I am already back to work full time, and my baby is still refusing a bottle. I tried to introduce it for three weeks before I went back. We have tried every bottle on the market including latex nipples and level 1 and 2 nipples. We have tried giving it to her when I am not home, and when I am home. We have tried spoons, sippy cups, medicine droppers. We have tried holding her while standing, slipping it in while nursing and sleeping, playing games with it, dipping the nipple in apple juice, adding a little apple juice to the milk, etc. We are currently attempting to feed her expressed breast milk (though I've even tried formula a couple times also just to see if she'd like something different). She took the bottle just fine when she was younger, so I know she knows how to do it. We aren't getting anywhere! She is basically refusing to eat until I get home. So my caretaker has been driving her up to my work every day to eat during lunch, but this can't go on forever! My doctor did not have any advice. I am just wondering if there are any tricks I haven't tried yet. An hour long car ride every day isn't good for her, and I know she would be much more comfortable with her caretakers if she would just take a bottle. It would be soothing and help her nap better. The only thing I am reluctant to do is starve her into submission! Please help! I am not trying to get my baby to hold a bottle. Just drink from one! Certainly three months is not too young for a baby to drink expressed breast milk from a bottle!

how to get my almost 6 month old baby to sleep through the night with a stuffy nose? my baby is use to sleeping through the night...now that she is battling a cold she is not sleeping very good at night...last night i moved her from her crib, to my bed, propped up on her boppy pillow, (i know they are not supposed to sleep on the boppies but i am willing to try anything to get her to sleep comfortable again) I also tried her swing and her bouncy seat oh and laying her on her stomach..nothing seemed to work for her..oh i forgot i even tried cuddling her..what can i do for her to sleep more comfortable again?
How do I get my baby to sleep through the night? She is 9 mo old, been sleeping on her tummy for 7 mo, and it worked really well. Now she is more active, moving around in her crib. She gets wedged in a corner, or uncovered and wakes up mad or cold. I only move her over and cover her back up and she goes back to sleep, but I'm getting up 3 times a night to do this. How can I finally get her to sleep restfully?
How can i help my baby get to sleep? Alright, shes just now getting her first tooth in, so she's very uncomfortable. i feel like i've tried everything :( I've given her Ora-Jel, shedoesn'tt like it.. she wont chew on teething rings, and when i make her a bottle lay her down, she drinks it so uncomfortably and spits it out and cries. Then i'll pick her up and play with her and talk to her, bounce her on my knee or pretty much anything i can think of to relax/tire her out, so eventually she'll start getting sleepy, and i'll try the bottle again.. same thing. so i will lay her in bed with me, and she'll FINALLY fall asleep, but not for long.. ten minutes later shes up again crying and kicking me. so i try the bottle again, and she refuses it. then once i'm really tired i'll lay her in her crib and try the cry method but she can cry for HOURS straight. PLEASE help me :( i know shes in pain and what not, but i'm going crazy! also, this all takes place from 7pm-almost 5am.. then she finally goes to sleep. please give me some things that i can try to help her :( thank you!

Crying it out: how many hours should you work on getting your baby to sleep? After months of working with a no-cry method and having to deal with the 5 hours every night that it takes to get our 7 month old to fall asleep, we have decided to resort to the Super-nanny's technique of letting our baby cry it out. The only problem is, he NEVER calms down and goes to sleep! He gets more and more frantic until he starts shaking and can't even breathe enough to make a sound. Hearing about how the method should work and the experiences of other parents, it sounds like the whole process should take maybe an hour or so before baby gives up and settles in to sleep. Once he gets so bad that he looks like he's having a seizure, we stop everything and try to do what we can to calm him down (at that point it takes about 2 hours to calm him down and get him breathing normally again). Oh my gosh. What on earth should we do? How long do you work on letting your baby sleep before it is too much for him/her?
how can i get my baby to sleep during the night? my nine-month old baby is still not sleeping during the night. she wakes up about 2-3 times during the night. i sometimes give her a bottle or just rock her back to sleep, but i want her to start sleeping during the night. i have her on a routine where i give her a bath every night to kind of help get to sleep better. she falls asleep about an hour later but she wakes up an hr and a half later for a little bit. if anyone has any advice on what i should do, i would greatly appreciate it.
How do I get my 18 month old to sleep straight through the night? When she was a baby, she slept straight through the night. Now she is waking up every 3-4 hours, and will not stop crying until she gets a bottle, then she goes back to sleep for another 3 hours, then it starts all over again! Any suggestions as to what I can do? My husband and I are exhausted!
How long did you have to rock your baby/child to sleep? Everyone keeps telling me that if I don't let my baby "Cry it Out" and stop rocking him to sleep that I will be doing it until he is in grade school. So for those of you who are against the "cry it out" method and don't have easy sleepers.... how long did you have to rock your child to sleep?
How do you get your baby to sleep in the crib? My baby will not sleep in the crib!! He only will sleep in his car seat! Does anyone have any suggestions about how to get him to sleep in his crib?
Is it bad to nurse your baby to sleep? I'm only asking because I do hope & plan on breastfeeding my baby for a year+ but I have heard a few times that leaving a bottle in your baby's cot with it is bad, because the milk rots their teeth or something...? Does the same go for breastfeeding, if you nurse your baby to sleep? I feel like such a bad mother to be not knowing these things and I'm sorry if this question is stupid. Thanks in advance! Have a great day :)
How to get my baby to sleep in her own bed.? My one year old daughter has been sleeping in my bed since she was about 3 months old so now I want her to sleep in her own cot she just wont have it. She cries uncontrollably, shouts, screams to the point where she makes herself sick!! She really seems devastated! I know It's my fault but any suggestions. I've tried nearly everything from patting her back to singing to reading to soothing. Thanks.
how to get baby born 7/17/09 to sleep longer periods thru the night? i am 45yo great aunt that got custody of nieces daughter, baby wakes up 4-5 times a night still, we have had her since she was 1 mo, what are some tricks to get babies to sleep at night
Is it normal for a 1 1/2 months newborn not to be able to lay facing upwards at all? This is a correction on my previous question where I asked about the baby not being able to sleep upwards, and everybody understood that she CAN face upwards, but is not comfortable with during sleep, however the fact is she can't lay upwards at all. How do normal babies lay down at this age? Is this normal and connected to neck muscles control, or should I worry about her skull shape (elongated and pointed to the back) interfering with a normal laying position?
How much does your baby sleep during the day? My daughter is now 5 months old and she generally takes about 2-3 naps during the day, totalling 3-4 hours in all. I've noticed that sometimes at night she won't want to go to bed if she has slept more than usual during the day. I realize that all babies differ as far as how much sleep they need and whether that interferes with their nighttime sleep but I am just curious how many naps your baby takes and for how long. My 15 month old takes one 2-3 hour nap per day and has no problem sleeping at night. Thanks in advance.
How do you make your baby sleep when she cries uncontrollably? My 1 month old daughter sometimes cries uncontrollably. It is really scary. After feeding I burp her once (hope that is sufficient and right way). I try to make her sleep by putting her in my lap, put her in my hands like cradle, but she will not like that. She will get up in the sleep and start crying again. How would you make your babies sleep fast and sound? What burping method worked best for your baby at 1 month-2 month age?
What are the benefits to having a baby sleep in your bed? I'm 33 weeks pregnant and am not planning on having my baby sleep in with us as I'm afraid I might squash the baby, the baby might fall out of the bed or the baby might get into bad habits and not want to sleep in a bed of it's own. A good point would be that you don't have to get out of bed if the baby cries, but this isn't enough to persuade me. Opinions ladies? Thanks :) x
What do you think about allowing your baby to sleep in a playpen instead of a crib? I recently began putting my 7 month old daughter in her playpen in her room for naps and nighttime sleep, just to try to train her to sleep in it. This is because she refused to sleep in it before and wouldn't nap at my mom's when being babysat or when my husband and I would take her places. After the first day she caught on quick and has been sleeping in it for a whole week. She actually seems to sleep better in it than in her crib! With her crib she had been trying to yank the bumper off, and if I take the bumper off she smacks her head on the rails and gets her legs and arms stuck in the rails. Plus, she loses her pacificer through the rails and screams bloody murder until I come back in the room and give it to her. Having her in the playpen has eliminated these problems of the crib. Has anyone else had their baby sleep in a playpen? I worry that it may not be very comfy for her, but she seems to be sleeping great in it this past week. What do you think?
What does your baby sleep in during the winter? My baby is 4 months old. We usually sleep in footed sleepers or sleep sacks. I keep my home at 70 degrees. She seems hot sometimes at night but I feel like I need to have her feet and legs covered. What do you do?
Does sleeping a 3 hour sleep during the day make my baby sleep less during the night? My baby boy is 3 months old, and usually has 45 minute sleeps during the day. Lately, his evening nap has turned into 2.5-3 hours. Is this going to affect his nighttime sleep in anyway. He is a breastfed baby.We usually wake up 2-3 times a night.
How will I make my baby sleep during night time? My baby is 2 months old and they say their sleeping pattern should be better now but i haven't had a good nights sleep because she's awake. She sleeps during the day and when it hits around 12 am she doesnt sleep. She gets sleepy and she does fall asleep but like after 10, 15 minutes, she wakes up. Its really tiring me out. No matter how much I swaddle her she doesnt sleep. How do I make her sleep?
How long do you let your baby sleep? How long do you let your baby sleep? My son is still sleeping. He went to bed around 830 or so last night and now its almost 11 and he is stll sleeping. Anyone elses baby sleep long hours? I should add that he will be 4 months in a few days.
How can I make my infant baby sleep at night ? My baby boy is 2 months old. For the last 15 days, he has developed a habit of sleeping all day and waking up all night. How can I trick him into sleep at night ?? Some innovative tips please. If I wrap him with a blanket or any cloth, he accumulates sweat in his back and thighs
Where does the baby sleep in the sims life stories? I just got a baby in the sims life stories, and there's no where for it to sleep. The parents put the baby on the floor and it sleeps there. Is that the only place to sleep?
Can a baby sleep through the crowing of a rooster? My neighbor has some roosters. We live in a residential neighborhood, but there is no rule against roosters! The roosters are so loud, I must sleep with earplugs in the morning to not hear them. Sometimes they will crow for a half hour straight. This takes place between 5 am and 3 pm. I am pregnant. Will my baby be able to sleep through this? I've heard they sleep through anything.
How long does baby sleep in bassinette? How many weeks or months did you keep your baby sleeping in the bassinette and when you finally moved baby into crib did you use one of those sleep positioners where it keeps them on there back so they dont roll?
How long does a baby sleep in a Bassinet or cradle for? How long does a baby sleep in a Bassinet or cradle for?
Is Phenergan safe to give to get baby to sleep? Have a 10 month old son who has never slept well. Dr prescribed phenergan to give when things get a bit too much. My Mrs gives it to our son up to 2 times a week. I really dont like her doing it but she gets "very" defensive when I object. Are we doing him any harm? I know she is very tired as well. She hasnt slept properly since we brought him home. Am worried about them both.
Is it possible for a baby swing to swing too hard? I don't want my baby shaking or anything. Is it truely safe to have the swing going the highest speed for a 6 week old? And is it okay to let the baby sleep in it ?
How to help baby sleep at night? My baby's almost a month old. The last four days she has suddenly stopped sleeping at night. At all. Period. During the day she's over tired and fussy but doesn't sleep more than 6 hours. We have a bedtime routine, it doesn't help. She fusses like she's starving but as soon as a bottle touches her lips she falls asleep. As soon as her head touches the bottom of her bassinet she's awake and screaming again. Obviously she can't sleep with us, it's unsafe. I know babies sleep weird hours and wake frequently through the night. She was only waking once or twice, and I'm well aware that it was a bit of a fluke, but now she will not sleep at night at all. She's far too young to "cry it out" and I refuse to try it. But I'm beyond exhausted since she's awake all night and most of the day. Sleeping when she sleeps doesn't help because it's so sporadic. We have a bedtime feeding and bath routine, and if she would sleep at night I'd have no problem keping her up during the day. Currently, as I said, she's up all day and night lol. Is there anything else I can do to encourage her to sleep at night? I don't give a crap if she wakes up every two hours for a feeding, that's to be expected, but is there anything I can do to help her sleep between feedings?
when did your baby start to sleep through the night? just wondering. I have a 6 month old who still take a feed during the night and wakes several times in between the feed anyways. did you have to resort to some form of "sleep training" as they call it or did your little one just sleep through when they were ready ? i know every baby is differant but your experiances would be interesting none the less!
39 weeks pregnant and I weigh 230 pounds. Is it possible to smoosh the baby while sleeping? I have a tendency to sleep a lot on my right side which I know is where my baby's legs are most of the time. I'm bigger during this pregnancy than my last and I'm worried that if I sleep too long on my right side that I might smoosh her. Is that possible? I know there is plenty of coushining in there but I'm still skeptical.
how can i make my baby sleep all night? my baby is 11 months old and still doesnt sleep all night, someone please help.
How does your baby sleep @ 3 months? Do you also go to work from 8-5? I will have to go back in 4 weeks and I don't understandhow I will get the energy. Mine wakes up every 2.5 hours and can stay up after feedings. No colics. No problems...

Why does baby need silence to sleep? For the past 3 nights I have had a hard time getting my 7 and 1/2 month old to sleep. Normally she falls asleep to this cd of smashing pumpkin songs turned into to lullaby music, but this particular night that she was crying and fussing I assumed it was from teething. Never bothered to try turning off the music because usually by the 2nd song she's out. I forgot to restart the cd and within minutes of it ending she was out. Now since then she seems to need for it to be silent for her to go to sleep. I've read this could be bad and wire her on needing silence for sleep for the rest of her life. In your opinion is it really a bad thing? Could this just be a weird phase she's going through?
What exactly did your baby sleep in as a newborn? Did you use a crib or bassinette? Has anyone used one of those bassinettes or newborn nappers that come with pack n' plays? Did you use a blanket or swaddle the baby? Did you use one of the sleep-right positioners? A lot of details I know, but I'm curious.
How long do you play with baby, let him sleep, or ignore him during the day? This might sound like a weird question, but in one day, how much time do you spend with your baby? Playtime? Baby sleep time? Leave him alone to do something else (clean the house)? My baby is 5 weeks old and I just feel bad to leave him alone in his swing to go clean the kitchen or something.
How much does the baby sleep in the womb? I'm 9 weeks right now. At this point, does the baby have sleep time and awake time? If so, how much does a baby sleep while in the womb? Thanks!
Is it necessary for the baby to sleep in a Crib? Or can a new born sleep in a bassinet. I think cribs are really expensive and for the first couple of months Im sure newborns cry. Our room is far from whats going to be the baby's room and I would prefer the baby sleep in my room with my hubby and I or in a bassinet. Is that ok or would the baby be better off in a crib? Ill start saving up now lol.
Did your baby sleep thru the night when you went back to work? So I know I'm jumping the gun here because I don't go back to work until december by that time my baby will be 3 months old but right not I'm going insane with the lack of sleep I get. I littlery wake up (well never really went to sleep) pulling my hair. Was your baby giving you enough sleep? If not how did you cope with going back to work?
Will a baby sleep better if I play music while she sleeps? If I play calming music while my baby sleeps, will she sleep better? There are a total of 5 adults and 1 baby in the house and most of the adults are night owls including baby's Dad. Baby sleeps in a crib in our bedroom.
What techniques are there that work for getting a baby to sleep on their back? Our baby sleeps fine on her stomach or side, but will rarely fall asleep while on her back. I'd be fine if she slept even for an hour or two on her back, but she just fusses and grunts and makes the occasional choking sound. We put her on her stomach a couple times and she slept fine. Generally she sleeps fine in her car seat as well, but when we put her in the crib, on her back she won't settle. Every SIDS site says you have to make sure to get the kid to sleep on their back, not on their side, not on their stomach. So, i'm wondering if there are techniques people have used to get the baby to sleep on their back.
How long does a baby sleep on babydow? Like both of my baby girls are sleeping right now, and its almost 1:00 pm, and I dunno how long they sleep and I need to know so I know when to come back, and I don't particularly feel like using a stopwatch though I have one. Anyone know?
How long does your baby sleep at night (when they started to sleep through the night)? My baby is 8 weeks old, and she is sleeping about and average of 6 to 7 hours straight each night, which i am very thankful for! I'm not expecting her to sleep longer right now, but I am just curious how long other babies usually sleep straight through once they hit about 6 months? Thanks!
Does your baby sleep with or without a blanket? My son is 8 months old, and simply will not tolerate a blanket on him while he sleeps. When he was less than 5 months, I could put a light blanket on him and he'd stay under it. Now when he lays down to sleep, it gets kicked off immediately. If I put it on after he's asleep, he wakes up mad within minutes, kicking at it. If the room is like 72-74 degrees, does he need a blanket? If he does, are clothes/socks a good alternative to a blanket? Does your baby sleep under a blanket?
Where do you lay down your baby to sleep during the day? I was just wondering what other parents do as far as naptime goes. How often and long does your baby sleep for?
How bad is it to let my baby sleep on her tummy? I know that letting a baby sleep on her tummy increases the risk of SIDS but it is the only way she will stay asleep. Any suggestions? my baby is 8weeks old
When should I start having my baby sleep in her crib? My baby is almost a month old and she is sleeping in a bassanet in our room right now. When should she start sleeping in her crib? I don't want her to get so used to our room and not be able to sleep in her room... I put her in her crib during the day when shes sleeping and she does fine, but at night its like she knows shes not in our room. i would love for her to sleep in her room at night because when she moves around a lot and makes her little noises i think shes awake and then i actually wake her up. i have moniters so i will be able to hear her..
How do I get my 6 week old baby to sleep in the crib instead of the bassinet? Baby sleeps in 3-5 hour segments - in the bassinet, in my arms or in the bed next to us. However, when placed in his room in his crib, he will wake up within 1 hour. He will soon outgrow the bassinet and have to sleep in the crib. HELP!!!! Thanks! I am not trying to make him do for himself at this age. However, he needs to get used to sleeping in the crib because he just will not fit into the bassinet much longer! I will try swaddling him more often when he sleeps. I notice that he startles pretty easy, which is common in newborns. He is already close to 24 inches long and bassinets aren't designed for sleeping in past 3 months anyhow for most kids. Thanks everyone who responded. It helps! My baby weighs more than 10 lbs. Closer to 12-13 now. Was 10-7 at last appointment. Currently sleeps for hours in swing, bassinet or my arms. Will outgrow swing and bassinet (size wise) and needs to sleep in crib. Will take naps in crib, but not longer than 45 minutes. Thanks for the hints & tips everyone.
How long should my baby sleep on his back? Im wondering when my baby can sleep in other positions besides on his back. Also, when can I stop worrying about SIDS. My son is 6 months now.
Is it really possible to get a baby to sleep longer or do they have natural wake-up times like adults? I have read both. One book says they will get up at their own natural time, another says to move up their bed time by 15-minute incriments to get then to wake up later. Another book says there is NO WAY a baby will sleep later just by putting him/her to bed later. I am so confused! I would like some guidance before I try any schedule adjusting. Background: my LO is 6 MO, goes down at 7:00. Gets up anytime between 5am and 6am, but usually closer to 5:00

How do I get a 7 month old baby to sleep through the night? I have a 7 month old baby who is pretty happy. She takes two 1 1/2- 2 hour naps during the day no problem. However, she is still getting up 1-2 times a night to feed. I am not breastfeeding and she is getting cereal right before bed. The doctor says there is no reason that she should be getting up to feed and that she should be sleeping through the night. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get her to sleep through the night? I have researched the Ferber method and other sleep situations and I am willing try anything. I am looking for the best suggestions that you have tried, before I go out on my own. This is the hardest thing ever and I do not know of anyone else in my situation. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

How to get a baby to sleep by herself on her back.? My little girl is 3 months old and likes to sleep on her belly. But, the doctors don't want us to place her on her belly for fear of SIDS. Everytime I place her on her back she wakes up screaming. So, I've been sleeping with her in my arms at night. I actually love it but I hear it's not good because she'll get used to it. So, how do I get her to sleep on her back? Thanks!
Anyone have tips on how to get better sleep when the baby is laying in your back? And I have problems walking because my legs hurt like I ran a marathon, in which I havent. I just woke up one morning like that. I can barely walk because of it. So does anyone have any good ideas on how I could get some sleep when I have 11 weeks left of my pregnancy?
can a newborn baby sleep in their car seat for a whole night? im babysitting my baby cousin shes maybe about 3 weeks old and i don't have a crib. so i was wondering if she can sleep in her car seat for the whole night.
2 months old baby, is it normal to drink 8 ounces and sleep for 8 hours? My little girl is only 2 months old and now she drinks 8 ounces then sleep for 6 to 8 hours. Im not complaining that I sleep but it worries me. Is it normal? Should I start giving her cereals?
How long did it take for your baby to sleep through the night? How old were they when they'd sleep 6 full hours? How about 8? Breastfed or bottle fed? Just want to get a general consensus.
Have you had success with weaning baby from a night feeding (as opposed to cutting it off cold turkey)? My 7mo sleeps for about 9 hours, then wakes and needs a bottle to get him back to sleep - then he sleeps for another couple of hours. At some point, I would like to have to not get up at 4am anymore to get the bottle and feed him. Has anyone tried gradually giving a baby smaller and smaller feedings until baby starts to just sleep through the time you would feed? Does that actually work? Note that I understand that at 7 mo, a baby can physically sleep all through the night - but of course is probably hungry. So I am comfortable with eventually stopping this early morning feeding.
Can't get my baby to sleep in his own bed? My son Cameron is now 9months, he's been poorly most of his life and from 5 months old he's been sleeping in bed. As it's comforting for him and gives me piece of mind. Only thing is now i can't get him out of my bed. Please help
How can I help my teething 7 month old baby sleep better through the night? We have been using ambesol (sp?) gel and baby Tylenol but he is still extremely fussy and doesn't sleep more than 2 hours at a stretch. He used to sleep from 7pm to 6am. Thank you.
On average how long should a 3 month old baby sleep during the day? My once predictable baby is throwing me for a loop. He, just last week would eat every 4 hours and sleep for at least 2 hours inbetween every feeding. Today and yesterday however, he has only had 3 or 4 20 minute naps! He was also sleeping through the night last week. Not the case this week. Help.
Why do we sing "Rock a bye baby" to lull a baby to sleep when the song is about putting your baby in a...? Tree and letting the wind crash the cradle on the ground? To Patrick W : Ha Ha, It takes one to know one, you know.
When did you give your child a blanket to sleep with? I have been told by many to not give a baby a blanket until they are a year old so I haven't done that. My daughter turns 1 in five days and tonight I let her sleep with a blanket. I'm just wondering if it's too soon? What did you do with your babies? As a side note, I of course have never let her be cold. She has just always used a sleep sack instead of a blanket.
How can I get my baby on a regular sleep schedule? She's almost 5 months old and goes to bed past 11 PM each night. I'd like her to go to sleep earlier, if possible. Her dad and I are night owls, which probably doesn't help the situation. Thanks a bunch. :-)
How long can my baby sleep in the bed with me and my husband once she is born.? My husband leaves for deployment in january, I am due in october. I want the baby to be able to sleep with us for a little bit but im a first time mommy and im unsure as to how long my baby will be able to do that.
New methods for getting baby to sleep? I'm just wondering about a few new methods to get the 8 month old to sleep more than an hour. What are some things to do/use prior to baby falling asleep? i.e. singing, rocking, reading, etc., etc. We have a regular bedtime routine. Eating (baby food and 8 oz bottle) Bath time, reading and then I rock him to sleep and place him in his crib. Only for him to wake not even an hour later. At which time I give him a paficifer or a 4oz bottle and rock him back to sleep. Then he wakes about 8+ times during the night. He also seems to be very "clingy" to me lately. Before I did not have to rock him, he would drift off to sleep on his own.
how can i help my baby sleep and nap better? i have a 6 week old baby who doesnt nap well during the day time unless she is being held or cuddled which makes it hard to do other chores or anything. what can i do to help her sleep or nap well. i have tried the sling and the bath but still no luck.
How can I get my 2 month old baby to sleep more? My lovely 9 week old girl is not a good sleeper. We try to keep to a routine but its pretty impossible. She hardly seems to get tired in the day, but then often gets overtired and frantic at night. Sometimes she naps and sometimes she doesn't. Sometimes she will sleep for an hour or so but other times (often) she'll wake up after 10 minutes. Then at night, she only sleeps for an hour at a time. What tends to happen is I spend all night up and down with her and then about 4/5/6ish I give up and put her on my chest to sleep - in that way I will get maybe 3-4 hours of sleep, although it won't be deep sleep as part of my mind stays awake to make sure she doesnt fall off/I don't roll over. I do feed her to sleep, I know everyone says not to but I can't see how to get her to sleep otherwise. When she wakes up at night, should I feed her or not? She seems to feed really frequently... At the moment we don't have much of a bedtime routine/ritual....we just try to make environment calmer and then feed her, we all tend to go to bed (or not!!!) at the same time (10/11ish). Should she be going to bed earlier than us? Would that not mean that she would sleep less in the morning? I really need help!
How do i get my 10 week old to sleep in her crib!? my baby has slept in a moses basket at the side of our bed from birth. she is now growing to big for the basket so i have been trying to get her to sleep in her crib still at the side of our bed but she just wont settle and i have to end up putting her back into her moses in the middle of the night. How long should we re-varnish the cot before baby is to sleep in it? Of course it will be done outside (by the daddy) and will be done before baby arrives but just wondering how long before baby comes should it be done....worried about fumes.
Is it alright to vacuum a room with a new born baby? Is it okay to vacuum a room with a newborn baby? I need to vacuum by baby's nursery/my kick boxing studio, but my baby is in there. He's not sleeping, but I don't want to disturb him. Would the noise from a vacuum disturb a small child? What if I put him in another room or outside while I do this? Please help; this is an urgent matter!

If you get baby to sleep through the night, is he likely to continue? Hi, Just a quick question. My baby has never really been bad at sleeping through the night. He woke a few times when he was younger but now he is 7 months and he is starting to get tired earlier and sleep through. He has slept from around 8-9pm until normally 8.30-9am for the last 4-5 weeks. Is this what he will do from now on ( apart from teething and when he is poorly of course). Any experience.??
how do i get my 11 month old baby to sleep all night? my son is 11 months old. every night i turn the tv off, turn the lights off and make my husband and daughter go in another room to make it very quiet. i put his pj's on (if not already on after his bath) and give him a bottle, which contains oatmeal cereal. he drinks the bottle and immediately goes to sleep. i put him in his crib, which at the moment has to be in his sisters room, not forever, but for now thats our only option. he sleeps very soundlt until about 3:00 in the morning, sometimes earlier, sometimes later, but never past 4:00. then he wants to stay up, he acts like he thinks its morning. very playful and happy, but im not happy at 3ish!! sometimes i can give him a bottle and he'll go right back to sleep, other times, he satys awake. sometimes he'll go back to sleep, but is back up in an hour or so. i need help, i haven't slept in over a year!! my daughter slept from 9:00 til 9:00 from 2 months old, im not used to this!!
How to get a baby to sleep at night time? ? She is 8 weeks old. She sleeps great during the day and has slept great up until 5 days ago. Now when its bed time she falls asleep after eating, we lay her down and she is awake within 5 minutes. ALL NIGHT LONG! She is breast fed and we always burp her. Doesnt seem like colic, just seems like she is fighting sleep. During the day she will sleep 3-4 hrs at a time easily. We start trying around 9pm..then its 10.......11......midnight.......1am and she is still up.
How did you cope with your baby kicking when you wanted to sleep? I'm 28 weeks pregnant and my son is starting to kick pretty hard now. As long as I lie still in the bed most of the time my son will stop kicking but I've always been a wiggle worm when I slept and as soon as I fall a sleep that's when he wakes me up with his hard kicking. I've been dead tired in class from lack of sleep but I guess there isn't a lot I can do about it. Any advice?
I have a 7 month old baby, i want 2 make her a cd to help her sleep what are some good songs? What are some good soothing or good songs for a 7 month old baby to hear or listen to also to relex too.
How can i get my 4 month old to sleep in her own room? Hi, Since my baby was born she has been sleeping in the same room as me and my partner and then when it came to night feeds as i was breast feeding i found it easier to just keep her in bed with us and have a snuggle, but now she is getting too big for her moses basket as she can roll over quite well and i was worried of her tipping it over. So i put her in her cot in the other room and she hated it and was screaming all night, so back in bed she came with me and my bf. A friend suggested that i should try putting the moses basket in the cot so that she has familiar surroundings, so i did this and no such luck, she was still screaming her head off all night. Is there any suggestions that you can give to help me get her to rest in her cot? I am no longer going to give in to putting her in bed with me but it is just so hard when she is screaming down the monitor and my bf has to get up early for work? People have said i should just leave her to cry herself to sleep and this will only last about a week and then she'll be fine,. but a week of constant crying just sounds so long and i will be so drained by then if she carries on like she has been? Thank you

How can I get my 2 week old baby to sleep better at night? Hi there! I am struggling to get my 2 week old boy to sleep better at night. I am breastfeeding him. During the day he sleep great. About 3-4 hours but at night he wakes up every 11/2 to 2 hours. I've tried waking him up more frequintly during the day for feeds but there is no difference. He still sleeps the same at night. I have a lot of milk so I know it is not my milk. We took him for his 10day check up and he gained 600g so that tells me my milk is sufficient for him. I sometimes have to milk out before he drinks because I have too much milk. My doctor said I should eat a good meal at lunch, which I do and I take a supplament and a shake specially forumlated for breastfeeding moms. Does anyone have some advice for me on how to turn his day sleeping paterns into night sleeping paterns? I sometimes co-sleep. The supplaments are normal vitamins and a shake that enhances the milks performance and not the quantaty. Breastfeeding takes a lot of your body also keeping in mind that after giving birth your body still is not the same as before pregnancy so these vitamins and shake puts back what you can not take in daily.
How to get baby back into the habit of sleeping in her cot? The past week my 9 month baby hasnt been well, so we have brought her into bed with us. This temporarily resolved her seperation anxiety as well. However now that she is well, I am eager to get her back in her cot, but she now gets so worked up that she will not go down and sleep. Does anyone have any tips, on how I can get her back to sleeping in her own cot? Thanks
Anyone try Enfamil Restful to help baby sleep longer? I want to try it, but would like to see what others think that have tried it? Didn't realize the controversy here! I'm a first time mom so I appreciate everyone's honesty. I will definately have to do more research on this.
How to get my 14 week old baby to sleep longer at night? He is breasted and still wakes up twice in the night. Whilst I appreciate some people have more trouble than this, can anyone think of anything I can do to encourage him to sleep a little longer? (Waking up just once in the night would be fine!)
how long did it take for your baby to set a new routine after their 6 month growth spurt? My 7 month old twins had a growth spurt about 3 weeks ago, and we just can't seem to get back into a routine. We had a good routine before the growth spurt- we were down to waking up 2 or 3 times a night, napping twice, and had a rough eating schedule started. Now They aren't sleeping or napping well. They wake up anytime between 7-9 in the morning, and go to sleep anywhere between 8-10 at night. I'm adjusting to not getting as much sleep, but the boys aren't. They're fussy during the day, constantly rubbing their eyes and yawning. They've gone from sleeping for 4-5 hours, nursing, sleeping another 3 hours, nursing again, and then another 3 hours, to waking every 2-3 hours. I think that may have something to do with Daddy's snoring and the fact that they've been moved back into their crib, but they sleep fine between waking. They were also napping for around 2 hours at noon, then again around 3 or 4 for 30 minutes to an hour. Now they're up after 30 minutes at each nap. They nurse well during the day, as well as two meals of solids around lunch and dinner. Anyway, my question is- how long did it take for your baby to set a new routine after their 6 month growth spurt? They seem to be in a bit of a routine, but it just isn't quite like the routine before. Mainly, they just seem to need more sleep. Sham69- did you even read anything other than the headline to my question? I don't believe that it is okay to let a baby cry, they do sleep in their crib, together, and they are eating solids. I'm aware of how to handle and feed my boys- that is not the question I was asking. I don't do well with a strict schedule, so I wouldn't expect my boys to. I let them set the routine- I don't try to force them into one. They set their own routine before now. My question was simple.. I didn't want advise about what to do when they wake up or how to make them nap. I just wanted to hear from other moms how long it took their babies to get into a routine after their 6 month growth spurt.
Different methods of getting your baby to sleep? My baby is a brilliant sleeper and doesn't need rocking to sleep. He goes to sleep in his cot wihtout needing assistance. However, the one mistake I made was to put a dummy in his mouth before nap times. I'm trying to wean him off his dummy before it becomes a real problem, as he is now starting to cry everytime he hasn't got his dummy in which can sometimes be every 10 minutes during his day naps. He is even starting to want it more when he's not asleep and I don't like this as it is stopping him from 'talking' and making new sounds which is slowing down his development. He is only 10 weeks old so I want this to stop before it becomes a real issue. I know I could just rock him to sleep instead, but then he will become attached to being rocked and will begin to scream as soon as I put him down in his cot. My aim is to use different methods of getting him to sleep so that he doesn't rely on one method. I only want to do this until he realises he doesn't need his dummy all the time, and then I will continue to put him in his cot without being assisted to sleep as he has always been happy being put to bed on his own. I know I have been slated repeatedly for being a fan of Gina Ford's book, but I believe that crying down should ONLY be used as a very very last resort. I want to try everything else possible because I don't believe it's a strong enough reason to let my baby cry on his own. Could you please tell me how you get your baby to sleep so that I can combine all of these methods. I have just tickled his forehead which made him sleep without his dummy, and on the nap before that I rocked him to sleep. Thanks. Oh great, here come the insults. Some people are so childish! Firstly, I clearly said I am NOT prepared to let my baby cry himself to sleep. The whole point is that when he wakes, he can settle back to sleep without crying. It's a lot crueler for him to wake up every 10 minutes because he's not getting a good sleep. It's not a problem for me to put a dummy in his mouth, but I think it is better for him if he is able to sleep properly without waking every 10 minutes and getting upset. He has consistency. He has a bath every night and he then knows that it's bedtime and sleeps through the night. It's the day naps that are the problem. I don't want to take the dummy away completely, I just don't want him to depend on it all day long. I have asked the question for advice not a debate so please only answer if you can help! Thank you to those who are helping :)
How to get through to a selfish father? My sister's boyfriend is one of the most selfish people I know. He does not help my sister with their baby at all. She works full time, pays for everything, and is always the one to get up with their baby every time at night to feed and to pump her breast milk. He works from noon to 8 as a tatooist and his income is not steady and he wastes it on alcohol. I watch their baby even on his days off and I only charge her $1 an hour cause I know that his money is his money. He told her the other day that she might not get as much sleep as he does but that he gets poor quality sleep. WTF? I dont want my sister falling asleep at the wheel. Is there anything I can say to him that would actually make him care about somebody besides himself? She has tried to tell him but he turns it around on her by saying things like "you don't even wanna be with me" (they were together for 7 years before they had their baby) or "you think I dont love my baby" Nothing but selfish words in my opinion. My sister does not act like a helpless victim, it's just that nothing she says or does ever gets through to him. I agree that she did get herself in this situation knowing that he was selfish but she thought (or hoped) having a baby would make him realize that it is time to grow up. Their baby is 12 weeks old and she has recently said to me that she feels she would be better off raising their baby by herself than have to put up with the stress of his selfishness but she really wants him to grow up and be a good father to their baby and is willing to give him another chance. In my opinion he's had enough chances but she doesnt see it that way. That is why I want to try to say something to him that might possibly have an impact on him just cause I know she is gonna keep giving him chance after chance.
I have just gotten a baby rat, and am scared to put her in the same cage as my adult rats? Right now she stays in a cage directly next to theirs, and when supervised is in their cage, but I've seen the younger of my adult rats bite her and be sort of ruff with her. The baby isn't even half their size yet, and I don't want them to crush her as I've seen them step on her head multiple times. Also the younger adult rat gets very jumpy when the baby is around and jumps instead of walks. When I first introduced them to each other the baby tried to nurse and crawl under them a lot, so I'm not sure if that is why she is so jumpy around the baby or what. We asked the pet store clerk if she was old enough to go home yet, but he put her in a plastic food bucket with no holes, so I'm starting to think that maybe she wasn't quite ready, especially after seeing her trying to nurse on my big rats. This is how big she is. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=287509299&albumID=1229219&imageID=18372385 http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=287509299&albumID=1229219&imageID=18372385#a=1229219&i=18372395 All the ones I took of her and the big rats turned out blurry. The cage she is in at the moment is about a foot long, but HUGE compared to her, and she goes into the big cage when I'm home, so mostly she just sleeps in the little cage. Also sometimes the younger adult rat will be ruff enough to make her squeak, but I've only had problems with this when they are in the big cage together, if they are out, or I put them in the small cage together to keep a closer eye on them nothing happens. I have had the baby rat for 5 days now. The older adult rat ignores the baby for the most part, though they do sleep next to each other in the small cage sometimes however the adult rats are more likely to huddle in one corner and leave the baby rat alone in a different one. Should I just get over it and put them together, or should I wait until the baby is a but bigger, or just another week or so? my rats do stink, but I've had rats since I was a child and I rarely get sick. plus they are smart and sweet and very easy to get attached to once you know them. they remind me of dogs. thanks chickie, i think so too. I bought them both from the same pet store from the same cage only 6 months apart, is it okay that I didn't quarantine them, or should I do something??? I am so clueless. I've never ever bought a rat when I had rats already at home!!!
How long would you let you 4 week old baby sleep without a feeding? My baby is a month old I breastfeed and sometimes she sleeps 5-6 hours between feeding and she seem fine and is gaining weight okay. Do you think it is fine to let her sleep that long at night because they say to feed every 2-3 hours but there are times she just does not wake up to eat.
How long typically can a baby sleep in his or her cradle, bassinet?? I was just wondering because I am worried about SIDS. I was thinking 3 months, but I am not sure? This is my first baby. I am still not due for a few weeks. We have already set up the crib in the nursery which is down the hall from our room, but I don't feel comfortable having a three month old sleep down the hall, especially because of SIDS. What have you done, or will you do?? Thanks!! 31 weeks 6 days pregnant
What is the easiest way of making a baby sleep for a long period of time? My baby sister has been sleeping really good some night and other nights not at all. Could someone teach me an easy way to making a baby sleep for a long period of time? She is exactly 9 lbs. 20 1/2 inchs. tall and she is 23 days old.
When did your baby sleep all the way in the night? My son is 4 months old. He still gets up for a bottle at least 2 times in the night. Is this ok, or should I do something to help him not get up to eat in the night? What do ya'll do with your baby? What can I do to get him to not wake up for a feeding? When did your baby sleep through the night continuously?
when can a baby sleep with a favorite stuffed toy or blankie? My 12 week old son has made an attachement to a small furry blanket. He likes to snuggle it and he usually falls asleep snuggling it, but we don't let him sleep in his crib with it (for obvious suffocation reasons). At what stage in development, or age, can a baby start sleeping with a stuffed toy or blankie in their crib?
what does your baby sleep in when you travel away from home? i already asked but am curious what you guys have the baby sleep in when he is away from home. i am going to our family's condo with my 8 month old for a few days. am bringing pack and play but he sleeps horribly in it.
Does having more naps make a baby sleep better at night, or is less naps better? I find that a baby that doesn't sleep enough during the day would be kinda difficult to sleep at night too. But others tell me to reduce daytime naps so that baby sleeps better at night. How's your experience?
in dragon age origins can you stay with zevran if you sleep with morrigan to have the baby? ps can you make Alistair have sex with her to have the baby
When can baby sleep with pillow and blanket? When is it considered safe to put your child to sleep with a pillow and blanket? I have a 10 month old baby and I never have put anything in his crib... I was just curious as to when most start Thanks everyone!
Is the newborn napper safe for the baby to sleep through the night in? I received a Graco pack n play that comes with a newborn napper and bassinet. The instructions say it's not safe to leave the baby unattended in the newborn napper. Just trying to figure out if having the baby sleep next to our bed in the newborn napper is safe.
How can i get my 15 week old baby boy to sleep thru the night? i wake him for a feed at 10.30pm, but every night he wakes every 4 hours to still feed, i dont think he is hungry and think this is habit, which i need to be able to break.
How do I get my two week old to sleep in his bassinet? I think my husband and I held our newborn a little too much and now he doesn't want to sleep in his bassinet, he wants to sleep on one of us. He will just stay in the bassinet for a couple minutes, then he will cry and when we pick him up, he will fall asleep on us. The main problem is that we have a 25 month old toddler, so we can't just sit on the couch with the baby all day long. Does anyone know how to get him more used to his bassinet, other than having him cry it out, which we will not do? Thanks.
How to get baby to sleep thru the night? I go back to work soon so I wouldlove to get a full night sleep.? I have a 4 month old boy. He used to sleep thru the night weeks ago for about 2-3 weeks, but i think he is teething a waking up the past 2 weeks 2-4 times a night. It seems he just wants to eat tho. How do i get him back to sleeping thru the night?? I go back to work soon and i would love to get a full night of sleep when I'm working. Any tips would be appreciated!
What time do you wake up your baby in the morning to get ready for day care? What time do you wake up your baby in the morning to get ready for day care? How may hours of sleep does your baby usually end up getting before you wake him/her? I think I will have to wake up my 8 month old between 6 and 6:30am. I plan to put him to bed no later than 9:30pm (about 8 hrs of sleep). I would put him to bed earlier but my husband doesn't get home from work until fairly late and then he and the baby would hardly see each other.
Poll: Should I wake baby early to feed him or let him sleep longer? I am returning to work for the first time since my baby has been born and trying to figure out the best routine. He is now 8 months old and eats solid foods in addition to being breastfed. My plan is to wake him up early enough (6:00am) to nurse him in the morning AND then feed him his cereal and fruit before dropping him off at the babysitter's house. However, if I nurse him only and let the BABYSITTER feed him his solid foods instead he can get about an extra half hour of sleep in the morning. What would you do? Feed him yourself (so you could make sure what/how much he eats and have some extra "bonding" time) or let the little guy sleep a little longer since he needs to be woken up so early as it is and just let the sitter feed him???
whats the best way to start a routine with my baby girl? any ideas ?? please help if u can xxx? my baby is now 17 week old, im finding it so hard to have a routine with her, she doesn't like to sleep in her crib and always wants to be held when she wants to sleep, has anyone got any ideas or routines that they use that work, also any tips to get her to sleep without no fuss ide be more than grateful. many thanks x

My Baby sucks to get to sleep-like comfort stuck, How do i stop it? My Baby sucks to get to sleep-like comfort stuck, How do i stop it? He is 1 year old, and I am trying to wean him off breast feed. I have tried to give him a pacifier at that time but it doesnt work. even tried rocking him but as soon as i put him in the bed, he wakes up and wants to suck to sleep....how do i stop this?

just curious, how do you get your baby to sleep/? my baby has gone through phases, from- drinking milk, holding hands, playing with her hair, and now singing mother inlaw started that one. so how old is your baby? how do you get your baby to sleep? how long does it take you? and does anyone have a baby, that goes to sleep by themselves? or are the baby sleeping books full of rubbish, they make you feel hopeless if your baby can "sself settle
how to get a 11 month ols baby to sleep through the night? hey can anyone help me i have never been able to get my baby to sleep through the night and he is almost 11 months now!!!! he only has one nap in the day usually around 3pm for about 1 hour then at about 9pm i give him a bath, a 8oz bottle of milk and put him to sleep but after about an hour he will wake up. he usually will then refuse to go back to sleep and cry for about 2 to 3 hours then finally he will drop off for usually an hour or two but then he'll wake again. this pretty much goes on all night with him sleeping for an hour or so and then waking up! any ideas on what i can do? hes not hungry when he wakes up during the night by trhe way he always refuses a bottle.......any suggestions welcome
How did you get your baby to start sleeping through the night? Just wondering how to get my daughter off the middle of the night feedings? Do I just have to wait until she does it on her own or what could I do to help her out? My son was 3 months old when he first slept through the night? Is this normal? Can I do something to make it earlier than that with my daughter? Does it just happen the more they start eating during the day? Just curious about others stories.

How old do you think a baby should stop drinking bottle? I have two questions. 1.How old do you think a baby should stop drinking bottle? 2.What do you think about a four going on five your old not drinking a "bottle" but drinking a waterbottle but using as if it was a bottle with Milk in it like a bottle. Example: Using it before going to sleep, middle of the day. In the morning..

How can I get my baby to soothe herself too sleep? My daugther is 4 months old and she has always just been rocked too sleep in the daytime but when I rock her to sleep and put her back in her crib she wakes up within the next 10 minutes and needs help going back to sleep but at night time she can soothe herself right back to sleep...Its like she knows the difference in day and night and she just crys if she dosent have it her way and it breaks my poor little heart so I give in but with me being back at work I dont want my babysitter treating her like she isnt a baby and a evil step-child so what can i do????
How can I get my baby to sleep longer through the day? I have a 6 month old baby who does not like sleeping through the day! She usually takes 2 sleeps a day - one in the morning and one in the afternoon, both of 20 - 30 minutes but she started waking up now when I try to put her in her cot. She doesn't go to sleep on her own, she needs cuddles or bounced to sleep. She has now started wanting a sleep at 5 but I will only give her 10 mins max or she wont sleep at night. She has almost always slept through the night but wakes up 1-5 times b4 midnight and needs picked up or she will scream (cant leave her screaming as she will wake other children sleeping in the house!) Bedtime is between 7 and 8pm and she sleeps till 8.30am but like i say she wakes a gd few times before midnight. Occassionally waking up wide awake and being awake for 2 hours at a time! I have looked it up on the internet but everyone else seems to get a 2 hour nap in the day and their baby sleeps by themself at night, how does this work??? lol. I don't think its because she is teething, she already has 4 teeth and I don't think its because shes hungry as she went onto solids at 4 months and is a gd eater (have tried feeding when she wakes sometimes and she isnt interested in the food) also the temperature in her room is fine and she never seems too hot or cold. Anyone ne ideas?? Thanks
How to get my baby to sleep through the night? My baby girl is now 5 months old (born on 7/30/2009) & when she was younger (2-3 months) she use to sleep through the night no problem. Now for the longest time I cannot get her to sleep through the night, she will ALWAYS wake up 2-3 times for a bottle no matter how much she eats at bed time.. i have tried warm bottles, i have tried cereal mixed with baby food & a bit of a warm bottle.. there was even a night where she only toom 2-3 10 minute naps ALL day & then she STILL wouldnt sleep through the night.. any other ideas? thanks! But she sleeps in the room with us & most of the time she sleeps in bed with us. Im not sure the temperature in our room, but she sleeps with warm clothes & a blankie. I have tried a big meal & we always check her diaper.. I will have to try the white noise too.. But right now she is also teething so there may be no luck
how long should baby listen to music before and during sleep? my spud is 4 months old. is it bad for him to listen to his bedtime, classical music all night? is it harmful for sleep patterns? or does the music help sleep? idk. what do you think?
how to get my daughters to sleep in their own room? i went about "sleep training" them the wrong way. even when they could sleep through the night in their cribs i kept them in my room- i know i should have taken them out sooner but i was being a nervous 1st time mom. about 2-3 months ago i took them to the store and i gave them an option of bedding & let them pick out their "big girl beds" & told them that they would have to sleep in their own room if they wanted them- which they did. well the room situation lasted for about a week and a half then they were jumping out of their beds and running to sleep with us. i tried treat method (sleeping through the night in your own room gets them treats after dinner- only big girls get treats) getting a gate- they climbed, i tried ignoring them- they got to the point that i thought the neighbors would hear. WHAT DO I DO?! i have been consistent with the treat method- and telling them how big girls they are 2 1/2 definitely terrible twos going on in my house. and they really need to start sleeping in their own room because i am pregnant again and i want them settled before i have to have the new baby in my room. and trust me- once this baby can sleep through the night she will be in her own room! this is crazy.
My baby won't sleep unless cuddled and though asleep cries as soon as she's put to bed? My baby girl is 5 months old now, she was born at 36weeks due to me having pre-eclampsia and spent the first 3weeks of her life in special baby care. She is my first born and I adore her however I am becoming increasingly tired and exhausted as it is such a battle to get her to sleep. She becomes very tired at around 5pm- I try and stick to a routine of bath 6pm, bottle then bed but occasionally I have to make it slightly earlier due to the fact she becomes tired at around 5pm. Sometimes I let her nap at 5 and she wakes at 5.30pm then I bath her at 6pm. She will fall asleep as I am giving her a bottle but as soon as I put her in her cot she wakes and cries. I sometimes bounce the mattress which makes her go to sleep but she then will wake 6-7times before finally giving in and sleeping. She then wakes 11.30pm, then 3pm then 6.30pm, but each time it can be quite a battle to get her to sleep. I feel she is eating more in the night than in the day, but she will not accept water and will scream until she is given milk. During the day she won't sleep unless she is being cuddled. When writing this I feel like I've spoilt her but I do not believe in the 'leaving a child to cry' method and she suffered terrible colic until she was put on prescribed lactose free formula just over a month ago. I have seen various sites on the internet which charge to tell you how to teach your child to self sooth. Does anyone have any tips, advice? I'm desperate!
What to do when your baby can't sleep because of teething pain? My baby is 6-mont-old and I suspect that he's going to have his first tooth. For the past few days, he couldn't sleep well, often waking up and crying during the night. I read and learn that there are a few methods you may try. For example, letting your child chew or suck on chilled teething rings, frozen baby bagels or popsicles. However, these methods can only be tried while your child is awake. What can you do when the baby wakes up in the middle of his sleep, like 2, 3 am? My sincere thanks
How to calm newborn after being circumsized? Hi My four week old son was just circumsized yesterday afternoon because of his earlier doctors appointment being cancelled. Up until yesterday he has been a very calm quiet baby that sleeps about 20 hours a day and rarely cries. Since the procedure he has barely slept (only 6 hours over night and nothing else). And he is very cranky and we can't get him to be happy and calm down. We've tried everything we can think of... any ideas to help our poor little boy?
How does/did your 10 week old baby sleep? My baby is almost 10 weeks old and her sleep is all over the place. She used to get up every two hours like a clock, then she finally extended that to every 3-4 hours. One night this week I heard her stir after about 4 hours so I went in a gave her the pacifier and she settled and slept another 2 hours. So finally a 6 hour stretch, although I still had to get up :) Last night was not so great. Also, she used to eat and go right to sleep. The last two nights she was much fussier. How does/did your 10 week old baby sleep? Did you do anything to help yor baby sleep or just wait it out? It will get better eventually...right? :) I realize she is just a baby and needs to get up to eat, I am just exhausted...

How does your 1 year old baby go to sleep by herself/himself? lately my baby drinks with bottle in her crib and fall asleep, so i thought it would be better to let her drink and fall asleep but always takes out bottle out of her mouth once she stops drinking it. how to get my parents to stop treating me like a baby? background- because of me being sick from 5 on up to 14 years old my parents treated me like a child, i couldn't do anything sleep over or stay out too late, and it affected me like me thinking that i am a baby or i can't do anything. but in the past year i have changed i got a job, i volunteer at a shelter, i paid for half of my car and i got into a top college in my state, all of this and they still treat me like a baby, please tell me how to get them to stop thanks

Getting baby to sleep through the night? My baby is 7 mos. old and still wakes in the night one or two times. I try to just give her a pacifier which sometimes works, but then the next time she wakes up she is hungry. How do I kick the habit of her eating in the night? I know she doesn't need to eat, but is the best thing to just quit cold turkey?

Poll: Is it a good idea to have your baby sleep in the same bed as you? Hi. I'm having a baby GIRL! I'm going to have her sleep in my bed. Yes, she DOES have a crib. What do you think of having your baby sleep in your bed?
How do I get a 5 month old to sleep in his crib, not in my arms? Baby has slept in our arms since birth because otherwise he screamed and wouldn't sleep. We tried 2 bassinets and now a crib with no luck. For 5 nights now, baby has been put gently in his crib and begins screaming right away. After 3 hours of checking on him every 10 minutes (tried 30 but that seemed too much) we relented and he comes to bed with us. Cosleeping is a problem because we are all light sleepers and baby is cutting off the circulation in my arm since he won't sleep between us just on us. Plus he will nurse every 2 hours in bed despite getting solid food during the day and lots of breastmilk. The constant nursing also causes constant peeing and constant sheet changing. I can't get baby to be asleep enough to get into the crib, he wakes up the minute he touches the mattress. I've tried swaddling, white noise, mobile, and none helped. Is he too young for this? Does he have separation anxiety? Help - mom and baby are crying big tears tonight.
Pregnant ladies: Does your baby kick while you are trying to sleep? Does the kicking prevent your from falling asleep& when did your baby starting kicking? Thanks! These stories are so adorable! I can't wait to feel my baby kicking an movements :)
6 month old wants to sleep on stomach? My boy will be 6 month on the 24th and he REALLY likes sleeping on his stomach. He can hold his head up and turn it around really easy and he can usually roll back to his back from his stomach already too. I was using a positioner in his crib but he would still flip to his stomach but get mad and fussy cause it was in his way. Is it safe at this point to let him sleep on his stomach I am so worried about crib death...does anyone else let their babies sleep on their stomach?
How can I get my baby to sleep in bassinet? She is 6 weeks old and sleeps with her mommy and daddy. Since we brought her home that was the only way I could get her to sleep so I could get some rest. Now I am breastfeeding so I know at this age she still is going to wake up for feedings which is fine. The problem is soon as I lay her down she cries. Only a few times a weeks will she lay down and stay asleep. I have tried lots of things like feeding her reaaly well, rocking, playing melodies, laying her in bassinet and put on the vibrator, I have also tried laying her and rubbing her. And no matter what I do she just cries harder and harder until I feed her and we both fall asleep. Sometimes when I give her a breast to fall asleep. She will sleep next to me for one minute and wake cring until I offer my breast again and she will do this 3 or 4 times in a row until she falls asleep and stays asleep. And that's when she is right next to me and her daddy. I don't know what to do. Is it too early to get her to sleep alone. And I havnt tried letting her cry cause it breaks my heart and sometimes it evens frustrates me.
The timeless question of how to get my baby to sleep at night.? She's 7 months old and getting her TO sleep isn't the problem, KEEPING her asleep is. I normally nurse her before bed and oftentimes she's still awake, and no longer wants to rock with me, but wants to lay in her crib and go to sleep on her own (a miracle?). Unfortunately, she just can't STAY asleep. I've heard the CIO theories and I'm not ready to do this. I think sometimes teething is an issue but it can't all of the time be the issue. I'm wonder if there is something else bothering or hurting her. She starting sleeping through the night at 8 weeks and continue until 12 weeks old... and since then, will wake up a dozen times a night. She doesn't normally eat at night anymore, just on occasion. Normally she will cry until I pick her up, and when I do, she puts her head right down and goes back to sleep. She doesn't always even open her eyes. She doesn't want to be awake but sometimes even when I am holding her she is still wiggly or twichy in her sleep and I just know she isn't out well enough to stay down long. Normally when she's waking up every 15 minutes, I do give up and bring her in bed with me. Usually she is able to sleep more solidly this way and I figure if she's in pain, I'd rather do this than dose her with tylenol, but I don't sleep well because I worry about her. Also, more recently, that hasn't even been working. She still squirms and wiggles with me. We also run an air filter in the room that is loud for white noise.
Help! My 4,5 months baby only goes to sleep when he suckle? I rock him but he doesn't want that. He rubs his eyes , yawl.. and fussy, he's be cleaned, not hungry because i just feed him 45' ago. I give him formula, when he drinks like half an ounce, he starts to fall asleep and finish 4oz, sometimes he chokes on that..He just want bottle to soothe him to sleep. I know it's bad because it can cause him ear infection or tooth decay, but he won't go to sleep if i don't give him bottle. What should I do? He won't take pacifier too. Thanks!

how do put to sleep my baby who is coughing? i could not put to sleep my baby who is coughing and he is 6 months old. please help...
My 4 month old won't sleep alone. can someone give me a suggestion on how to get him to sleep in his crib.? My son is almost 4 months and will not sleep on his own. during the day he will sleep near me but thats after i have nursed him to sleep. he usually sleeps with us and will wake up every 3 hours to nurse and go back to sleep. this means i have to wake up many times. he refuses to take expressed milk from a bottle and i have bought almost every botte, nipple or baby nurser in the market and yet he will only take an once or so from someone else but me. i need advise on how to get him to stop nursing every 3 hours and be able to sleep in his crib for longer hours.
He wont stop smoking weed, so how do I get him to at least make a budget for it that wont keep messing ours up? Ok soIve been with my boyfriend for two years now, we have a 5month old daughter and I love them both dearly. My only problem is, and has been pretty much ever since before I became pregnant, is his smoking of weed. Before I'd hear "oh being with you, I dont feel the need to smoke, I cant stop" but of course every girl likes to hear lies right??? ANyways we been through alot, we jumped into everything pretty fast and of course with time I began to see he CAN'T stop, and its nt for stress. I had no problem before with it, because when we met I smoked, but I didnt do it constantly or ever really had a need for it. If i smoked I smoked to go to sleep, and that was it. But even still I never felt I needed it or ever craved it. and I sure as hell wouldn't break the bank for it. I'm 20 and he's 29 with no sense of money managment. I pay the bills, try to manage the money, but its hard when you just want to make them happy. Hes PROMISED time and time again" oh I'll stop" ,"i'll cut down " "I'll only smoke weekends" only to make sure he has an eigth on Sunday night. Now if were not arguing . He would normally have to ask me for our bank card, but hes sneaky too sometimes so I only find out hes taking it after ive check the bank account. So I ask him where it went to of course, only to find out the most predictable answer.. With a baby now, I really dont want to smoke. or drink or anything, he's pretty much not working and is a stay at home dad.He was laid off from a good paying job, but his unemployment is still a good chunk of change comin in, He's been there to pull his weight, but its different now. Alls I want is at least honesty abou his problem, and for him to at the least budget it. I talk to him, and its hard for me not to get worked up. He acts like he never made those promises. because I obviously must have lost my spark if I cant make him quit. I'm young, and have a child, my pregnancy was hell givin our finiancial situation at the time, move, my car, family drama, and whatever other bullshit came along. Of course I feel like I support his habit, but I dont want to fight. I cant control al lthe money because he simply isnt on board with budgeting. Should I give him an ultimatum? I do pay bills, I'm working on my accounting degree, currently attempting a brokering business, and all the while working a full time job and coming home to a man who feels he doesnt have to have order. I fell in love with him because he was fun and on top of his game. and of course made me feel like I was his reason for living. but now i came to relize that in fact is bud, xbox360, and overly processed foods. He's a great dad to our daughter( he has a another from previous relationship) and thats another story.. but he made a move from So-Cal to Nor-Cal where hes never been for me. He wanted to start our family on the right foot and be commited to us. I try to see if theres an underlying issue, but who knows. Hes doesnt tell me much. and quite honestly I'd do anything for him, but I can only take so much. Weve been through good and horrible times. How do I make him realize that his excess of weed is messing me up? How do I get it through to him that I dont want that in a boyfriend, especially if hes trying to get married, that is dedicated to making sur ehe has blunts at 4:30 am before i go to work?. I'm bending over backwards for this man and its like he cant follow through with one simple request. I dont smoke with him AT all anymore not even on special occasions. Because I belive in leading by example. So i dont do it before i go to work, or eat or nothing. In a relationship I'm really starting to see that actions do speak louder than words because I feel like if nothing changes, I keep talking about what the consquences could be, but I guess he might have to see what I'm capable of. I dont want to leave him, and I dont think it would be fair for our daughter. But how do you make someone whos stubborn and set in there ways realize its hurting the family as a whole? Finanically, and emotionally. Not even, i think its embarrassing , I cant have family come over because he leaves papers with weed crumbs on surfaces, and ashtrays outs, and I try to tell him to do it outside. He never smokes in the same room my baby is in, but still. Any type of smoke can mess up sinuses, and even though hes neve rin the same room mas her, I cant tell what is normal for her to be snuffing at. He hasntbeen a very clean house daddy lately. ( i use to do it all thats why, and still do on my days off) THats why I think he should at least make a budget for it, and never ask me to purchase the blunts when I'm out ( Its hell if I dont ). I hate doing a your money my money thing , because its harder to keep track of expenses the other isnt telling you about. What would be the best way to handle it? I need help. and soon and therepist, because Im starting to get angry. Like I'm in it alone. Men dont realize that having children c keep in mind he's a great father, he's increibly patient and is very in tune with me, it's just one thing that's tearing us apart. I try not to act okay with it because i dont want to blow up.he isn't just like a vegtable, when he does it, just lately he hasn't been on top of things at home. I know being with a five month old is tiring, because we try to dedicate as much quality and educational time with our daughter, but I couldn't do anything back stabbing. We are or were very close to getting married.I guess I just want to help him help me so we can help us. We work better together than apart. I don't know if it's just a change of head of the household, depression, or what. Maybe going from city life to town life is too boring.for the record, I would never NOT allow him to his daughter, she needs him, hell he spends more time with her that I do. And girls need their fathers. I just don't know how to let him know I'm here to help. Without getting upset I belive I need help with anger

need advice w/ getting baby to sleep in his crib, please? my son is almost 7 months old, and he's slept in my bed since he was born pretty much. he slept in the bassinet part of his pack 'n play for a short while until he grew out of it. he's exclusively BF so sleeping w/ me was always easiest. but now that he can roll over & lunge forward (no crawling yet though), i would feel better if he would sleep safely in his crib. i use bed rails but one day he woke up from a nap & was quietly playing (so i never heard him wake up), and i just happened to check on him & he was roaming around the bed! i'd hate for him to fall off the bed and get hurt, or worse :( the problem is, getting him to physically go to sleep in his crib is near impossible. sometimes i put him in there but he's already asleep, usually. the other night i tried CIO, but didn't hang in there long.. i lasted maybe 20-30 min. lol. did anyone go through this, and what did you do? co-sleeping really isn't an option anymore, and i figured the sooner the better, so any advice on how to get my LO accustomed to sleeping in his own bed would be greatly appreciated -- i'm desperate!
I have a speech and the topic is narrative. The teacher gave us a start.I have ideas how to continue.Which one? The start is "So here she was, locked out in the night, while the babies slept innocently on the other side of the door. She was growing colder every minute. Father had told her something about the ‘black frost’. The moisture in the ground turned to ice, and lifted the surface of the soil beneath your feet. The air was so still, yet so cold." I have ways to continue the story but I need to choose which one. ideas -"And cut!" the director screamed. continue on, need help if doing this. Write about movie star? -Continue on normally. "A cry came from inside. The babies had woken up! She glanced around quickly." -Continues, but sum1 is writing that paragraph, like,"Charlotte!" Mrs Crowe screames from the stairs. She hurriedly pushed her books under the bed and reached for the embroidery as the door flung open." -"Thank u Sara, now class please turn to page 144 as we study Shakespeare-" Ugh! Mr Futama's class is the most boring class. He droned on about how he fought in this battle in Mongolia. That is not true as two days before, tommy asked him if he had ever travelled outside of Australia and he said no! OK. there are some ideas.
how to make sleep 6month baby at night without using diapers? if i make sleep my baby without diapers, he made himself wet by his urine and that cause him cold and sneezing. what can i do?
How much does your baby sleep? Not looking for advice, just kind of doing a poll. How much does your baby sleep (how long at night, how many naps/how long are the naps?) My son is 9 months old, sleeps 12 hours at night (almost to the minute!) and takes 3 naps during the day, for between 45 minutes and 1 1/2 hours. mmkay, let me clarify here. i am not complaining, i do not need to know if it is "normal". everyone loves to talk about their babies, and i was just doing a poll out of curiosity.
How can I get my 7 month old Baby to sleep for more than 2 hours? My 7 month old has not slept for more than 2 hours since he was born. He is my 4th child and you would have thought I woulld have cracked it by now. I am shattered. I have tried swaddling, feeding, pacifier, freedom to cry, cot, rocker, cranial osteopathy and yet he is still the same. He is on solids now, I am still breastfeeding. Can anybody help?? When did you start letting your baby sleep in his own room? Im just curious what others did, my son is 3 months old my plan was to wait until he at least started to sit up on his own. I wont have a problem putting him to bed because he sleeps fine I just feel like he is to little. He will nap in his crib during the day. When did you let your baby start sleeping in there room?
Why do people use the term, 'slept like a baby' when they have had a good nights sleep? In reality, you should only use the term 'slept like a baby' when you've been asleep for a couple of hours and then woke up screaming and crying.

Any tips on getting baby to sleep? Okay - so I previously asked a question about 10 week old baby sleeping in my bed - wasnt sure how i felt about it. With most of the response being that I should attempt to get my LO to sleep on his own!! Well that was part of my question too!! I have been putting him down in his own bassinett - once he's asleep and he only lasts about 20 minutes on average. Sometiems more, sometimes less. I WANT to put him down when hes showing signs of sleepiness, but he squirms right away and begins to cry. I do NOT want to let him "cry it out"... so what are your suggestions there? *He gets a good 2 or 3 hour nap if we are in the car, and hes in his seat out and about - but this wont be happening now since winter is coming and I live pretty far north (-40 etc!) *He doesnt usually take a soother *I try to put him in it through out the day to get used to it... he is happy in it for a few minutes, thats all. *My goal is to get him to start falling asleep on his own - or even with rubs or pats in his own bed. since now he squrims and kicks and cries as soon as i put him in there, but i take him out and rock or nurse him and he falls asleep. Not necassaiily to sleep THROUGH the night as I expect him to wake once or twice to eat- but right now its 5 and 6 times a night at least even when he IS in our bed! *The nighttime routine is bath at 8 pm, nurse, and then usually rock to sleep(because he wont go down on his own) - and he's down by 10 15...for the 20 minutes - sometimes up to an hour or 2, and then hes nursed, and usually falls asleep in my bed. I am fine with him sleeping in my bed for now - but really want him to be used to his own bed - as Id like him in it by the time hes about 6 months, so thats why im trying to make the transition now.(I was using my bed mostly as convenience since he is waking so often to feed - it meant more sleep for all of us!) *Ive also tried swaddling him. he just stares up at me, and then starts kicking, crying etc.and usually gets the blankets undone!! What works best for white noise besides a fan?? (its cold here!)
Nursing - Co-sleepers - doesn't co sleeping just make your baby want to nurse more often? how do you get sleep? my child has been sleeping with me for the past 2 months because he all of a sudden refused to sleep without me. Now i nurse him like 6x a night..... probably more of a comfort thing. but its like he's always gotta know where his food *boob* is to feel comfortable............... ugh!
Did you ween your baby cold turkey to get him to sleep through the night? I'm wondering how many of you mom's out there weened cold turkey as a means to get your baby to sleep through the night. Did it work? My worst fear is weening cold turkey and my baby STILL waking up several times a night. I suppose this would be a good way to tell if she's waking up to nurse (which I think) or for a different reason. Sorry, I meant weening from the breast altogether not just at night. My daughter 13 months old. I would give her whole milk in a bottle which she now takes at times during the day. I've offered a bottle at night and she just gets mad because she wants to nurse. She's hooked on the boob! It's unreal and I'm SO ready to be done nursing. I think 13 to 14 months is a good long stretch to have achieved.
How old was your baby/child when he or she went down to one sleep a day? My 11 month old has 2 sleeps but recently become very hard to get to sleep. I struggle to get back to sleep when woken? I bottle feed my baby son of 4 months old at about 2am in the night. He is usually quite good and after 25 mins he is back to sleep and satisfied. However I cannot get back to sleep myself..last night I just lay there for about 2.5hours until I eventually drifted back off. Can anyone help, as 3 hours less sleep on a poor sleep pattern is not nice.
Baby won't sleep in his cot....do i leave him to cry? My baby is almost 10 months old the problem is that he wakes in the night, so i put him in bed with me while i nurse him until he back falls asleep... As soon as i put him back in his cot he cries and i always give in and put him in with me. i know i have made a rod for my own back by doing this but i feel sorry for him... Anyway i was going to start trying to put him in his cot BEFORE he falls asleep but when he is very tired to get him used to falling asleep in his cot. I know i will have to let him cry out for a few nights (that will be so hard to hear him cry) Anyway my mother-in-law said you shouldn't let boys cry for too long... has anyone else heard of this and if it's true, why?
Did you find it hard with your first baby to get used to being a mother for the first time? I mean all the feeds, no sleep, having to learn etc I am really nervous about the labour but even more nervous about being a mum! i can't wait but i know there always going to be something i didn't know if you catch my drift i am abit scared, my friends all say it will come natural what do you think? How did you find it? xx

would you change your baby's diaper once they have gone to sleep at night and wake him up? My husband does this all the time and I think it is rude. Sometimes the diaper isn't that full and he wakes her up and she doesn't go back to sleep. She's awake right now and I had put her to bed at 9. He does this all the time and argues that he rathers her to wake up than get a diaper rash. I on the other hand think that her sleep is more important unless the diaper is super full. She sleeps through the night. For babies who sleep through the night. Are you supossed to disrupt their sleep because they peed?we are first time parents.
How old was your baby before you gave them a pillow and blanket to sleep with? My mom laid it down on my the other day when she found out my 20 month old just started sleeping with a blanket ( we of course keep it warm enough for him to not need one, but it is getting much colder here ) and still no pillow. I didn't think a child should have a pillow until they were like 3 for some reason. When did your baby start sleeping with a pillow and a thick blanket?

Is it wrong that my baby puts himself to sleep? At about 9 months old I got tired of fighting and holding him down to get him to go to sleep when he wouldn't set still, so I began laying him in his crib and going in and soothing him every 5-10 minutes and after about 30 minutes he would put himself to sleep and now when I lay him down and give him his puppy (stuffed animal) and pacifier he lays down and goes to sleep on his own every night at 7:30. Well, is it wrong that I let my baby learn this way because my friends and parents all think that I was wrong and being mean to him. I felt like I had to do something different. Was this mean?
How do I get my 6 month old to sleep longer at night? My 6 month old will only sleep 1-2 hours at a time and the only way to get her back to sleep at night is to feed her. Does anyone have some suggestions for me that don't require my baby to scream herself back to sleep?

What is the earliest age that you can let a baby sleep through the night with out waking them to eat? I was told to wake my twins at least every 4 hours to eat through out the night. One of them wakes me up every two right now, but the other one seems to want to just sleep at night but is awake and aware during the day. I plan to ask my pediatrician but until then can someone tell me what the earliest age is to just let them sleep till they wake to eat on their own?

My fiance wants to try the Ferber method (cry it out) for our baby and I don't? Now I know crying it out and the Ferber method are different--to a degree, but I think they're both awful. I just think that sounds cruel and there has to be a better way to get baby to sleep well. Also, our baby is only 6 weeks old and he's already planning this for 4 months....??? Ahhh how do I stop this? Nooooo, he wants to start this at FOUR months...

How to get a 2 month old baby to sleep through the night? My baby will be two months old in a couple of days. Since she was born she has always slept 4-5 hours at a time at night- once and then only will wake up every hour after wards crying. I am breastfeeding her, so I get up with her and now am starting to show signs of Extreme fatigue. I need to return to work as my six weeks are already up and we need the income, but I don't always feel too safe driving at this point. I try to nap with her during the day, but she doesn't nap more than 30 minutes at a time. I guess I am looking for any tips, book suggestions to read, or anything to get her to sleep longer or go back to sleep for 4-5 hours instead of 1 hour. Please help- I am sssssooooo sleep deprived.
How do you get your baby to bed? I haven't had my baby yet but i want to hear other moms forms of bedtimes. My sister used to give him a bottle then a bath(or maybe it was the other way around?) then lay him down and he'd sleep very well. What do you mothers do? Also state how old your baby is :-).

Why wont my 2 month old go to sleep for more than 10 minutes at a time? I have a 2 month old baby and usually he's a very good sleeper once we get him comfortable enough to fall asleep. But in the last 2 days he hasn't been able to sleep for more than 10 minutes at a time before waking up and falling back asleep for another 10 minutes. It's starting to really worry me. He's been sick with a cold for about 17 days, has mucus in his chest, snot in his nose which we've been sucking out with an aspirator, and we use a cool mist humidifier in his room. I'm out of options... I am considering taking him to the ER just to make sure he doesn't have some kind of virus or infection from the cold... even though he hasn't run a fever. How long can babies go without proper sleep? I thought infants needed almost 16 hours of sleep a day and he's maybe getting 2-3 at the most. He hasn't been sound asleep, like heavy sleep, in almost 3 days... any advice would be great!

When did your baby start to sleep through the night? My baby girl is only 7 weeks and we have her on an eating schedule and we have a nightly routine (feeding, bath, massage, and we read to her/sing to her). How to stop baby from startling in her sleep? I know a lot of people would criticize me because I had been putting my baby to sleep on her tummy since birth but she seemed to be more comfortable this way and was sleeping very well. She's 3 1/2 months old now. Few days ago, around midnight, she would start turning her head from left to right and then right to left and then again for the whole night as if she's not feeling comfortable. So I decided to try putting her to sleep on her back but she keeps startling and wakes herself up. She doesn't like to be swaddled because she likes her arms and legs free. I tried wrapping her belly little bit tight with a receiving blanket, didn't work. I tried placing my hand on top of her belly, didn't work either. I tried to roll up two towels and place beside her, didn't work either. I tried all together, didn't work either. She just keeps startling. So now I have to put her back on her tummy. But she keeps turning her head until she wakes herself up. Whatever position is not making her comfortable... HELP!
How long should I let my baby sleep in my bedroom before letting her sleep in her own nursery? Give me ideas to help build something to rock my baby? The only way my baby sleeps is if he is being rocked in his rocker, or held by me. I need to get things done in the house and it is really a handful and stressful at night also. He won't sleep longer than 30 minutes if he is just layed down. Help give me an idea to build something that will rock the rocker on it's own. he hates his swing. we've tried a bouncer and i pretty much had to bounce it for him since he's only a month.
How late does your baby sleep in the mornings? My 1year old wakes up at 5am every morning, I try to keep him up at night but the latest he will go to bed is 7:30pm. How much of a stretch is, getting rid of unwanted babies, from deciding to get rid of unwanted neighbors? If you favor people aborting unwanted children, why oppose people getting rid of unwanted neighbors, or co workers? Go pro choice all the way. Take it to the limit. And sleep like a baby. Hopefully a wanted baby. MORGANIE----WOO HOO. VERY NICELY SAID. Just the unwanted. The uncared for. Survival of the fittest. It will be the liberals who support the next Hitler, just like it was the liberals who supported the last one. Amen, and thank you. Aaron msl----So what is the difference? The sad fact is that you see one. Let that fetus live and it might be your neighbor. But since it doesnt have a name, you can just kill it with no conscience. Oh well just another dead could have been. Who cares. Why should anyone care? I would rather associate with the ones who do, than the ones who dont care at all.
How can I get my daughter to sleep in her crib? Let's just say I'm a bit of a pushover. My daughter is 7 1/2 months old and still sleeping in my husband and mine's room, mostly in our bed with a few hours a night of her being in her pack-n-play. Tonight I've started trying to get her in her own room. She's in their crying the highest pitch shrill of a cry I've ever heard! I'm behind 2 closed doors and down the hall, and no the monitor is not on! She's been at it for about an hour and it doesn't seem to be calming down. I went in at 5 mins, then 10, 15, 20, and I'll go back in at 25 mins to pat her on the back, say night night. close the door and walk out. Bout 2 mins later, the death cry will start ALL OVER AGAIN! Please help, anything will give me the will to hopefully not pull out my hair and jump over the balcony. I know I started late in switching her to her own room, and that's my fault, but what can I say I'm a pushover. How did you get your babies in their own rooms??
How do I get baby to sleep? My daughter was born at 25 weeks and 5 days. She came home about a month ago (3 months old) and is about 4 weeks past her due date. She is doing well/gaining weight at a good rate. My problem is that she is intensely needy. She never sleeps longer than an hour if she's not being held. She can be in a deep silent sleep while laying on my chest but will usually wake up within minutes if I lay her down. I've tried everything. 2 different bouncy seats, crib wedge, side sleeping, playpen, swaddling, no swaddling. Nothing works. This has been going on the entire time she has been home and shows no sign of letting up. I'm home full time with her and my husband works. He does his best to relieve me every other evening during the week but my sleep deficit is getting so intense that I can hardly think straight anymore. On the days that my husband can't relieve me I typically only get 1-4 hrs of sleep in 24 hrs!!! Usually even that is broken up into many "snippets" of sleep. When he can relieve me I get 3-4 hrs in a row and possibly a brief nap or two. For awhile I was carrying her around in a sling during the day and get a few things done but we are suddenly in a heat wave and the sling is too hot for her. So for the last week I have done almost NOTHING but carry a baby around. The dishes are piled up. The bathroom is gross. Even phone calls are getting ignored/not made. Today for the first time I put her down and let her cry for a bit. She rapidly became hysterical and sounded downright terrified. I picked her up. I love her DEEPLY and am in no danger of harming or neglecting her in spite of how I feel. Any suggestions? NO CRY IT OUT ADVICE.
How often should my baby sleep? She sleeps 12 hours at night and then anywhere between two and four hours across 2 naps during the day. I'm not sure if this is too much, thought we do tire her out with activites. She may actually be sleeping a little less and playing with her teddies in her cot for some of the time. I'm not complaining! :-)
Any tips on making my baby sleep in his own bed? My baby will be 8 months tomorrow, and I want him to sleep in his own bed. I only started having him sleep with me because when he was 2 1/2 weeks old he got a cold and he couldn't be left alone in his room!
How long does a 2 month old baby sleep for during a night? I am just wondering how many times a night does a 8 week old baby usually wake up. How many hours of a night do they usually sleep. Thanks
Is it unsafe to let a baby sleep on his side? My baby hates sleeping on his back. Often he will roll to one side or another like a grown adult and sleep on his side. I usually wait until he is completely knocked out and try to rotate him more to his back. He doesn't like to lay on his belly, just his side. Is OK to leave him alone and let him sleep like that?
Why wont my baby sleep during the day? I have a 4 months old and he sleeps 9-10 hours every night, which is fantastic, but he wont take more then a 30 minute nap from 2pm-8pm. I give him a bath at 6:30pm and put him down at 7:00pm. It takes about an hour or less for him to fall asleep. I do let him cry for 10 minutes and check on him until he is asleep. I just started feeding him cereal during the day. I have tried a swing, rocking him,I have music playing for him, ect. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know he is tired so I am NOT trying to get him to sleep when he isn't even tired, I thought about that myself, but I shows me ALL the signs he just wont sleep, and I can't get anything done and it's not pleasant to have a mad baby from 6:30-8pm everynight. PLEASE HELP!
How long should you let your baby sleep in her sleep positioner ?? My baby is 4 months old and she will only sleep in the positoner.
How did adding solids to your older baby (6mth +) effect their sleep? I have a 5 month old and were starting solids in about a month. Her sleep is horrible. She nurses alot during the night (about 3 real nursing sessions and then she will use me sometimes as a pacifier) and Im wondering how solids might impact her. I know research says that adding solids doesnt help baby sleep throught the night especially young babies but wondering about older babies.
How many mothers have a hard time taking the advice 'sleep when your baby sleeps'? I wake up in the morning sooo tired because my newborn still wakes up 2-3 times a night to nurse. I always hear people say (including my husband) 'sleep when he sleeps today' But then, baby falls asleep and I can't relax because of all the laundry, dishes, etc etc there is to do! Anyone else feel this way? Occasionally my husband will come home from work early, and when he gets home he lays down right away for a nap! That drives me crazy especially since I am exclusively breastfeeding, so he sleeps through all of the nighttime feedings!
How can i get a baby which is not mine to sleep during the night? How can i encourage a 6 week old baby to sleep? He is my stepsisters and while shes in hospital, i've been given the responsibility of him but the problem is he wont sleep AT ALL. He stays up all night screaming his little lungs off and it disturbs me and im sure its painful for him because his little face goes all red and he sounds like hes going to choke. I try singing, gently rocking/cradling him/staying up with him but nothing seems to work!.... Do you think its because im not his mother and he realises? Could you give me some advice please because im only 19 and ive never had any hardcore experience with kids.... He barely sleeps at all, he has 40 winks but doesnt sleep for a long period of time or is this just normal? Ive got a boyfriend but i cant ask him to help me with this, i mean we only recently got together and i think its a little soon. My room-mates would help me but they have lifes to lead i guess...
How can I get my baby to sleep? Help.? My son is almost 8 months old now, and he sleeps in bed with me. My husband is gone all night so I don't mind him being close when were home all alone. However, when we go to bed he doesn't sit still; all he does is roll around and try to climb off the bed. I have to keep picking him up and putting him back in his spot. I finally get tired of this and try putting him in his bassinet. This is even worse! He cries...and scream...and throws himself all over. I've tried the cry out method before....he will go on for hours just screaming and crying and getting himself worked up. Then it takes me even longer to get him to calm down. Eventually he will get hungry again and He will fall asleep drinking his bottle..in bed..after I already brushed his teeth. I don't want him to get into this bad habit, but I don't know what else to do. And when I try to pick him up and put him in his bed or brush his teeth while he's asleep...he wakes up and I start all over again. I need help! PLEASE! Once he falls asleep he doesn't wake up until the morning. which I love. Its just getting him to fall asleep. When I put him in the bassinet to cry I don't just leave him there I pick him up every few minutes and try to put him down. So don't try and say I'm being cruel.

How can I get my 5 year old to sleep in her room? We recently moved (away from both sides of our families) and our daughter is having a hard time adjusting to her new room. We have tried leaving the light on, a bright night light, laying with her until she falls asleep, letting her fall asleep in our bed and moving her to her room and letting her sleep on the couch. We have even tried telling her that only babies sleep in their mommy and daddy's room. She says the room scares her but she is fine with it during the day. I am running out of ideas and was hoping someone else has been through this and could help.
is it safe to use a positioner for my baby to sleep on her side? She is 4 weeks old and suffers reflux and we find she sleeps a lot better on her side so we were doing this of a day on the sofa but watching her to make sure she did not roll onto tummy. However I bought a resting up sleep positioner which is a slight wedge/incline with two bolsters/side cushions I can move about as they stick to the incline with velcro. I used it for her to sleep on her side, is this safe?

8 Weeks old baby - How many hours sleep in the day? Hello, Can anyone please tell me roughly how much sleep an 8 week old baby should have during the day? I have finally got my little boy to sleep during the night (he wakes every 4 hours for feeding) The problem I now have is that he probably only sleep about 2 hours during the day! He is quite grumpy during the day, and I think that he might be over tired? Any idea's?? Thanks
How do I get my 5 1/2 month old to sleep in her crib? I've gotten my daughter and I in the habit of cosleeping. It makes breastfeeding very convenient and allows for extra time and bonding together. However, my husband and I never get enough time together and I would love for my baby to be able to be in her own crib. She needs to breastfeed in order to fall asleep; and when she does fall asleep, if I leave her she is awake within 10-15 minutes. Letting her cry is not an option for me, after all, it's not her fault she's not able to fall asleep on her own. I'm frustrated because I need time with my husband but I don't want to go about this the wrong way and traumatize my child. I want her to know I'm there for her even if I'm not right next to her. Any advice?

How can I get my baby to sleep at 8:00 instead of 11:00? Everyone says that the earlier you put your baby to bed, the longer or better he sleeps. I've tried putting my baby (9 months) to bed early (8-9 for us) and he sleeps worse than when I let him go down at his normal bedtime (around 11:00), or just takes a short nap and is ready to go till 11. I'd really like to put him to bed earlier and have some time in the evening, not to mention being able to go to bed earlier myself. I've thought about trying to gradually change the bedtime, or try and wake him up earlier in the morning (he usually sleeps till around 9). We live in a studio apt. which makes it even harder. any thoughts/suggestions?

How old was your baby boy/girl when you moved him/her to a big bed? Was there any signs that they need to be moved? what were they. Last night was my daughter's first night sleeping in her new room on a single bed. Of course all the necessary protection was available. I even slept with her in the room to make sure everything is great. It was great She slept all night, when she woke up she just climbed down and woke me up lol (I was already awake but I kept my eyes closed just to see what she will do) So I guess for a first night it was wonderful. My problem was is that my daughter was a great sleeper ever since she was 40 days old. Slept all night through. For the past couple of weeks she keeps waking up crying a lot and wanting to sleep on our bed. Anyhow, we thought it was time even though everyone says that she is still too young. she is 16 months old. What do you all think?? Thanks everyone for your time. Do you think I rushed too fast putting her in her own single bed??
Methods to get baby to sleep on own? What method could I use to get my almost 5 month old daughter to go to sleep on her own? Also, she gets herself so over tired that she fights sleep, what cues does your baby give to let you know he/she is getting tired? I don't believe in the cry it out method

How to deal with a pet's death? I lost my cat, Toast on September 30, and I am still terribly upset about it. I know it has 2 and a half months, but I still feel like it was yesterday. I still cry whenever I think about him, and I've even caught myself calling my new cat by Toast's name. I know it's too soon to be completely over him and I know that I will never be completely over him, but I feel like I should be healing a little, and I don't feel like I am. I don't know if it's because I didn't have any closure? Toast was rescued from a swamp by me and my x boyfriend, Eric in November 2005. He was our cat. He was very attached to the x and then we split up in 2007. Toast became attached to me, he became my best friend. Nothing was too good for Toast, he got the best food I could buy, more toys than most children have, complete love and devotion, complete run of the house, he was king! In Feb, I moved in with the guy I was dating and Toast got a friend, Mr. Kitty. They were so cute together, they were like siamese twins. Whatever Toast did Mr. Kitty had to do. It was great. In August things went very wrong and I ended up leaving the guy and Toast, Mr. Kitty and I all moved back to my parents house. During the summer Eric came back into my life, and Toast had not forgotten who he was. When I moved back home Eric came around a lot and that bond between him and Toast apparently had not faded. Eric was spending weekends at my parents house just so he could see "his" cat. The last week of his life Eric was here whenever he was not at work, he would come here at 8 am after working overnight. Not even 2 months after moving back in with my parents Toast was gone. Toast went from being a very healthy cat to being extremely sick, it seemed like out of nowhere this happened. What I thought was going to be a simple trip to the vet for a tooth problem ended up being the beginning of the end. During the vet visit the vet found fluid in Toast's belly. We had no idea what it was from, the only thing that was wrong with him was that he appeared to be having trouble eating. He had no other signs of anything being wrong with him. The vet drained the fluid, tested it and did blood work, and sent me home with a very good possibility that it was cancer. The blood work came back fine, and there were no signs of cancer in the fluid. Meanwhile my poor cat was getting worse, he had stopped eating, he was hiding under furniture and in the bathtub. We were in and out of the vet's office almost everyday for a week. The fluid was sent out to be tested again, this time for something I had never heard of before, FIP. This test took several days to get the results back, several days I did not have to wait. While I was waiting for the test results I brought him to another vet who reviewed everything the first vet had done, this vet also told me that FIP was a very strong possibilty. While waiting for the test results Toast became weaker and weaker. The night before he passed away he was so weak he dragged himself down the hallway just to be in my room with me. You could see this little burst of energy from him and he tried to run to me, but his poor little back legs just wouldn't work. I could see my baby was suffering, but I was so afraid that if I put him to sleep the test results would come back and it would have been something we could have fixed. I think deep down I knew it was his time, but I just refused to accept it. I think he knew too, that's why he tried to run to me. I had just found a possible treatment for FIP and my new vet was willing to try it, she was going to call the pharmacy Tuesday morning to get the medication Toast needed. Tuesday morning Eric called me on his way home from work to see how Toast was doing, I said I did not know and I would call him back. I got off the phone and leaned over the side of my bed to see where Toast was. He was under the bed, not completely, it was almost as if he was making it easy for me to find him. I got down on the floor and looked under the bed, I could not see Toast's face and I could not tell if he was breathing, but when I reached under the bed I swear I heard a little squeak. I called Eric back and told him it didn't look good and I thought we were going to have to put TOast to sleep and he should get here as fast as he could so we could end his suffering. eric arrived shortly after the conversation, went straight to my room. I think Toast tried to hang on so Eric could say good bye, because I pet him a few minutes before Eric arrived and he squeaked again. Sadly poor Toast could not make it, and by the time Eric arrived Toast had passed. It broke my heart to see my wonderful cat so lifeless and I know it hurt Eric too. We decided to have Toast creamated so we could always keep him with us, and since Eric and I live in two different homes we split his remains and we both have beautiful urns, and pictures to remind us of the wonderful animal we loved so much. To this day I still do not know what was wrong with To Sorry this is so long, I think I just needed to get it all out.
How long should a 15-month baby sleep? My baby is about 15 months old. I want to know in daytime, how many times should a baby sleep. What is the time gap between once the baby sleep and sleep again after he or she wakes up? How long does the baby usually sleep?
What is a good sleep/nap schedule for an 8 month-old baby? How many hours of sleep is good for this age? My baby sleeps from 7 p.m. - 6 or 6:30 a.m. uninterrupted. Her daytime sleep is what is NOT going well. She looks so tired all the time and is very cranky by the end of the day. Sometimes it affects her night sleep when she can't nap well during the day. My husband and mother-in-law are the the care providers for the morning while I am at work. I tried to come up with a general schedule that seemed to work on weekends and whenever I've been home for long weekends or vacations...naps at 9 or 9:30 a.m. (for an hour) and 1:00 or 1:30 (for an hour and a half or two hours). My mother-in-law doesn't believe in baby routines or schedules and puts her down when she thinks it's time and doesn't allow for wind down time. The nap schedule has been all over the place. She also picks her up at the first sign of movement or wakefulness. I'm not sure if the inconsistency is hurting her naps or if it's a bad schedule or both. I need help figuring out what's appropriate for this age
what age is it advised that you can let your baby sleep with a pillow? My 4 month old baby girl sleeps much better when we prop her up on one of those maternity 'v-shape' pillows but when we lye her down flat she wriggles around a lot more which wakes her up..... We only let her sleep with the pillow whilst sat next to her on the sofa or lying on the bed so she's always safe but I was wondering what age is it suggested to be safe to let a baby have a pillow ?
