6 Month Baby SLEEP Problems? I am completely open to methods from all mothers who have managed to get their 6 month old to sleep through the night. My son is so great during the day. A total angel. Sleeps with no help for naps at 10, 1 and 5 like clockwork. I've started to introduce some rice to his diet as well as full time breast feeding and he's loving food. Even at 7:30pm, when he rubs his eyes, he's really easy to make fall asleep in his crib. The problem is that he gets up every 40 minutes to an hour and a half crying. He used to sleep perfectly for 4 hours and then wake the next 3 hours and again 3 hours later for feeds. Now that he's 1 week from 6 months he's such a bad sleeper. What I'm doing now is running to him as soon as he starts crying and then i put my hand on his back, put the soother back in his mouth, tell him "it's ok and you're just going to sleep, sweetie" and he's out like a light... at least for 40-90 minutes. It's exhausting and if I could just get more than 2 hours sleep I would be so happy. He still eats every 4 hours during the day and the night and will gear towards weening him off the breast but in the meantime I'd be happy with getting up every 4 hours instead of 40 minutes. Please mothers... share your success stories. I've read TONS on ferber, baby whisperer's PU/PD method etc.... Right now I just let him give me cues but it's getting me up every hour. It's making me a zombie during the day.... THANKS! UPDATE: Yesterday he only had 2 naps. One short in the morning and 2 hour nap at 3. Then i fed him tons of rice cereal which he is loving and then breast fed him before bed. He slept for a couple of hours and woke up crying. I put in his soother and turned him on his tummy and he was out. Then continued to wake up every hour. I did the same thing. Soother, loving pat then he is out like a light. So now I'm realizing he can't soothe himself back to sleep and needs the soother. So do I now not give him the soother and force him to cry it out until he learns or is this just temperary and he will learn to sleep longer? it's definitely all about the soother!!
6 Month old baby sleeping problems, wakes up again and again and cries at night? i have a 6 month old baby. He wakes up 5-6 times at night after every one hour or one and a half hour and starts crying and he sleeps only after drinking breast milk. At night, he does not like to drink bottle milk. We tried to give him formula milk at night before sleep, but it did not solve the problem. If we do not attend to him, he cries very loudly and sometimes, he starts playing at night for two hours and he wants us to be awake. he will not play on his own. I would be grateful for your advice. We both husband and wife are facing a lot of problem because of all this.
Question about Baby Sleep Problems? Has anyone heard of the Magic Sleepsuit? www.magicsleepsuit.com. It helps babies sleep better.
Please help with baby sleep problems. Going insane now.? My son is 10 months old, and since he was 7 months old he has been having terrible sleep problems. He started sleeping through the night at 4 months, and was doing really well, until he hit the age of 7-8months. He goes to sleep in the day time, after playing in his cot and then standing up, throwing his dummy out and calling "ma-ma" for about 45mins. I have to keep going in to put his dummy in and lie him down, and then he will finally go to sleep. Sometimes he just screams the whole while and just wont sleep. Night time is the killer, he absolutely will not sleep at any point when it begins to get to evening. He screams, throws his toys and dummy out of the cot, he stands up, calls me over and over... I feel like I have tried everything. I have followed the advice of so many people and I'm at the end of my tether. I have tried to let him cry it out, but that just does not work. He will scream for hours, literally hours, until I go to bed, and then he has to share the bed with me and my partner. I cannot rock him to sleep, I cannot sing him to sleep, he won't sleep in his pram, he won't sleep in the car. I just do not know what to do. I am severely depressed and my partner and our relationship is suffering because of it. I just don't know what to do anymore. I cant think straight, I cant sleep, I just need some help, please.
baby sleep problems? I have an 11 week old baby. She all of a sudden will not take a nap during the day longer than 15 min. I know she is tired!! I lay her down and she is sound asleep. As soon as she hits the bed she is wide awake and crying! Other times I will put her in her crib and turn on her music she will fall asleep and then right away again she is up! What can I do to make this stop and she can get some rest again? ALSO I HAVE NEVER HELD HER WHILE SHE SLEEPS OR SLEPT WITH HER. SO I DONT KNOW WHY THIS HAS STARTED?
Can you recommend a baby sleep help site that provides email consultation services? We don't seem to be able to solve our baby's sleep problems and there is no decent sleep help available in Slovakia where we live. Thanks!
Baby Sleep Problems-How do you keep your baby (older baby) to consistently sleep in their crib all night long? Our 11 month old daughter did great 2 weeks ago. The longest she cried was 15 minutes and that was the 1st night. She went to sleep by herself and slept all night long with the exception of 1 night but she put herself back to sleep in less than 2 minutes. Well-this past week has been a nightmare and she's back to sleeping in our bed. Or sleeping in her bed for a couple of hours and then will wake up and not quit screaming and we go and get her. She is cutting 5 teeth at once and I'm keeping her medicated when she goes to bed with Tylenol and teething tablets or Motrin and teething tablets. She is also back to screaming ANYTIME I put her down or leave the room to the point of screaming so hard she's holding her breath. Both my husband and myself have to be at work early. He's actually going back to nights on Friday (for a month) and I'm so dreading it. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I'm so frustrated. I've started getting angry (which I hate).I feel like a horrible mom for feeling this way. Ughhhh!!!

Separated from husband - different sleep routines are causing problems for baby & toddler? Hi, my husband and I have recently separated. We have two children - 18mths and 2 1/2 years old. I have always put the kids to bed and they go to sleep on their own without a problem. However my husband refuses to do this and is falling asleep with the kids in front of the TV and they are sleeping in his bed. The kids are becoming unsettled with me - last night it took an hour to get them to sleep and they woke up during the night. I think they are already stressed enough with all the changes. Does anyone been through this before?
8 month old baby with sleep problems? My baby boy was a great sleeper until he developed eczema. It made him itch like crazy all night and the only thing that would calm him was to nurse for comfort. After several months, we have his skin clear finally, but now he is in the habit up frequent waking. By frequent I mean every 45 minutes to 2 hours all night long. How can I help him sleep without waking now that it is just a habit? Are there gentler alternatives to the CIO approach? He is too big for swaddling and will not take a pacifier. It is also not a hunger issue as he does not nurse actively he just comfort nurses. Thank you! We already use a sound macine :/ It is the same sound machine you have :) Doesn't work for him though it does for his twin sister
Baby has sleep problems!? My 7 mo old is very difficult to put to bed at night and it usually takes me bouncing him around to get him to sleep and then after sleeping for a little bit he is awake again and I have to start bouncing him again. I have been told to let him cry it out. Anyone else with this problem? Should I let him cry? Or is there anything else that has worked?
My baby has sleep problems....can someone help me !? My daughter is 10mths old and I cant get her to sleep well during the night. She has been sleeping in her crib in her room since she was 3 mths old but she has never been a good sleeper. She wakes me up frequently in the night for no apparent reason she just wants to be held by me. Even when my husband gets up with her the crying escalades to screaming until I come get her. Last night she went to bed at 8:00 as usual but kept getting up every 20-30 min. I would lay her back down and she would get back up. This went on until 3:00 am until finaly she is too exausted to continue. I have tried everything, the last thing left is to let her sleep with us and give up what little bit of intimacy we have. Sometimes she only wakes up once in the night but i've notices that she only has these good nights after she has had about 3-4 bad night. So really she is only sleeping when she has no choice but to recuperate and then it starts all over. Im discouraged, tired and I feel im failing, help !
problems getting baby to go back to sleep in middle of night? 10 weeks old. she will sleep from about 7-9 to about 3 am, after that she doesnt want to go back to sleep. ive tried keeping her in the dark when feeding her, burping her, giving her gas drops, not playing at that time....any other suggestions?
If my baby does not learn how to fall asleep on her own, can it lead to sleep problems later in her life? I have a beautiful five month old girl who has a very hard time falling asleep unless she is nursed, in the car, or in her stroller. I really dont want to use any kind of cry it out method, but hope I am doing the right thing for her sake-dont want her to have sleep problems later in life.

Please help me! My baby is having bad sleep problems!? I know babies are supposed to wake up in the middle of the night. I'm OK with that. I'm used to it, and I don't expect my baby to sleep through the night. He is 9 months old and hasn't slept through the night yet! We cosleep and the pattern was that he was waking 2 times a night to breastfeed. Well lately, (the past week) he has been waking and crying terribly, and he doesn't want milk (like usual). I pick him up and walk him around my room and he cries and moans, and falls right back asleep. Then I lay him back down and he wakes back up crying again! So I continue to walk him around until he falls back asleep and wakes up crying several times in a row. This happens 1, 2, 3, and even 4 hours after bedtime. What is going on? Does he have colic or gas pains? Also, when he wakes, he gets on all fours and puts his body on mine. I am exhausted from all of this and I just want him to sleep better. What is causing his disruptions ? I looked up info on night terrors and I don't think it's that because he is so young. I don't know though. Please help! Thanks for the advice...I don't think it's a milestone though b/c he can crawl and walk really well.
Having Problems with Baby Sleep Positioner......? I put my 2 month old in a sleep positoiner. Well I checked in on her last night and she was completley out of it, She was laying at the bottom. So my husband and I thought It was to loose, so we made it smaller, and again this morning, she was out of it, slid all the way through it. Is this normal? Does she not need it anymore? When she was younger I did swaddle her and it worked fine, now she dosent like to be swalled there for she is sleeping only in her night clothes......
My 7 month baby doesn't sleep through the night anymore (mould problems in house)? He was been sleeping from 7:30pm - 6:30am since he was 12 weeks old. Now all of a sudden this past week he has been crying in his sleep and waking up every half hour. I have tried sitting next to his cot and stroking him back to sleep but he keeps waking up again and we haven't slept properly for the past 3 days. He is usually a very happy, contented baby but he has been quite grumpy during the day recently (probably because he hasn't been getting enough sleep) He already has his bottom 2 teeth but I know this isn't due to teething as he isn't behaving the same way he did when they came through last time (ie chewing everything, drooling, rosy cheeks etc). He has recently started crawling so I thought maybe he is burning off alot more calories now, so I upped his milk but he wont drink it, in fact he has gone off his food and milk a little lately. I brought him onto our bed last night and even with us he was waking every 2 hours crying. He has a runny nose this morning and is sneezing so perhaps he is coming down with a cold. Do you think this is the reason behind his sleep problems? I'm also a bit upset because we are living in rented accommodation and after we moved in and signed the 1 yr tenancy agreement we found out the house has major damp & mould problems. This morning I could smell mould in our baby's room so I pulled his chest of drawers out and they were completely covered in hairy green and black mould! We have cleaned it off with bleach but I don't know if we should just move his cot into our room now (even though our room is also damp.) I don't know what to do as we are stuck here until contract finishes (ends in Jan 09) and our landlord doesn't do anything about the mould at all. I'm due to start back at work in a week and he isn't sleeping. What would you do? 'Neyeli R' stop posting your advertisement all the time, i've seen this about 10 times now. Im not going to buy your audio sleep program ok I have asthma too. I took some photos this morning before cleaning the mould off. I am going to make an appointment at our local citezens advice bureau tomorrow. Im also feeling a bit flu-ey now as I must have breathed in a lot of mould spores when I cleaned it earlier. So im also going to get a doctors note because my asthma has got 10x worse since we moved in here. We even have a leak under the bath tub and water runs down the wall into our dining room the LL came round to look at it and all he could say was "oh lets just keep an eye on it shall we" the bath could end up falling through the ceiling! - he doesnt care one bit. We pay him £650 per month to live here and all its doing is making us all sick! Thanks for all of your advice so far
If you wanted your baby to sleep and give it benadryl too much it can cause problems. what do u think? Giving a baby benadryl, might make it sleep, but it can cause the pleasure centers to not fully develop. And later can affect behavior.
help!baby wont sleep!how to get rid of wind problems for babies? my babies now 4 months old !she has really bad wind problems!iv tried everything! infacol, coloxyl oral drops, gripe water, changing formulas, infants friend .i give her a bath every night massage her give her lots of tummy time, leg exercises. if any mums could tell me what worked for their babies or if theirs a really good product to use on the market please let me know! desperate mum.please help!
10 month old baby sleeping problems? my daughter is 10 months old today. At nighti give her a bath play with her for a half hour and then try to put her down. She will not fall a sleep in the crib. I have to give her, her milk on the couch or my bed and when she is a sleep already i put her in the crib. She will only fall a sleep with the milk never on her own. She drinks 8 ounces of milk while falling a sleep and then when i put her in the crib she drinks another 5-6 ounces. and then she wakes up in the middle of the night with a soaked diaper. However when i change her diaper she does not want milk or anything else for that matter and then she wont fall back a sleep. Also sometimes she is impossible to put to sleep initially. She sits up and pushes the milk away and cries. Some nights this goes on until 11 o clock and i know she is tired. I am really trying to combat this problem now as i am 5 weeks pregnant. If any one else has had this problem please give me some advice. thanks Also i would just like to add that she loves sleeping in her baby swing. However i am trying to shy away from this because soon she will be too big for it. Some nights when she really just will not go to sleep i put her in there until she is sleeping and then i move her to the crib. how long did you use your baby swing?
does anyone have problems with hier babies (older baby) sleep patterns? my daughter is 14 months and sleeps through the night... she goes to bed a 7pm and wakes up at about 6-7am and takes an afternoon nap at 11am... but the past few days she has been waking up at 1am or 3am or 5 am.... and cant get back to sleep... and then at nap time she wont go to sleep or she takes her nap early at 8 am or wants to take two naps and then wont go to bed at her bed time... anyone else have this problem?
How much does your baby sleep during the day? My daughter is now 5 months old and she generally takes about 2-3 naps during the day, totalling 3-4 hours in all. I've noticed that sometimes at night she won't want to go to bed if she has slept more than usual during the day. I realize that all babies differ as far as how much sleep they need and whether that interferes with their nighttime sleep but I am just curious how many naps your baby takes and for how long. My 15 month old takes one 2-3 hour nap per day and has no problem sleeping at night. Thanks in advance.
Baby sleeping problems part 2, please help guys this is getting serious!? Alright I posted a question recently with my 6 month old daughters horrible sleep habbits (waking up every 2 hours) and I got some great advise unfortunintly none of it seemd to help in fact a few things made it worse! the last two nights I've been up every hour on the hour!!! I've made sure to not let her nap past 4 kept her up later fed her right before bed bathed her with lavender bodywash, shampoo AND lotion, music nightlight on, night light off, nothin!!! the only way she sleeps for very long is if I hold her and I don't know why, she's never slept with us just occasionally at nap time I'll hold her but it's turning in to my only hope and I really don't want to start a dangerous habbit thats hard to break, please, please somebody help me I'm going crazy here, lol I actually ran into her door last night I was so tired, yup compleatly forgot to open it...I really need some help with this, I honestly don't know what else to do.
How much sleep Naps/Night time does your 8-9 month old baby get ?Having problems with my 8mo DD? I ask because I have a DD who will be 8 mo in 5 days. And for the past 2-3 weeks she has been fighting me tooth and nail everyday about naps. Up until then she was taking 45-60 mins nap anywhere between 8:45am & 9:30am. Then she would take an afternoon nap between 1:30pm-2:30pm for 2hours. Now she might sleep 30-45 mins in the morning and if Iam lucky 30-45 mins in the afternoon. The problem is she wakes up and she is still so tried and sometimes fussy and cranky. Though she is still sleeping through the night with no wake ups from 7pm-6:30am. But I fear the bad day time sleep will start to effect night time sleep(she has waken 3 nights in a row in the late evening this week). I have tried putting her in her crib and letting her CIO but she can go forever and not stop(the longest was 90 mins with 20 min check-ins). She is very strong willed for someone so young. Any tips or advice is great. Thanks
My baby is having sleeping problems due to reflex... What should i do? Ok my 6 month old wakes up every hour in a half to two hours. Ive talked to his doctor about reflex and she gave him medicine and it doesnt seem to work but he cries for about two hours and seems soo hungry. He sometimes only wants to sleep on his side. We are both so tired and i just dont know what to do anymore.. I give him a bath to get him to relax and have soft music to play in his crib. I need help. Any advice?
Having problems getting baby to sleep Is it normal for a 6 month old not to sleep that much. My son hardly takes any naps during the day and the ones he does take are only between 5-15 minutes long and normally only 1 or 2 naps. Trust me i try for longer naps or even an extra nap but it never works out like that. Then i put him to bed around 11pm or so (which is what works for mine and my husbands work schedules) and ever night for two weeks he has woken up at 2 am like clock work! Then around 4 i get him back to sleep till about 7 am and we start all over. ( he used to sleep through the night he started sleeping through the night around 2 months old but now for 3 weeks he wont sleep) any ideas?
Baby problems...lack of sleep? My 2 month old daughter is not sleeping. In almost a 24 hour period she has slept for maybe a total of 5 hours. Her daytime naps last about 20-30 minutes, and she fights going down for about an hour. Nighttime is no better and is awake many times throughout. She has colic symptoms, but have noticed she sleeps well on me being cuddled. I am at my wits end....do not know if her lack of sleep is because she does not want to be put down independently, or if she is in pain due to gas and is not sleeping well.
Baby sleeping problems I'm going crazy? My daughter is 7 months old and I'm having the worst problems with her sleeping she never would sleep by herself laying down so out of desperateness I put her in her swing and she would sleep all night well a few weeks ago she started sleeping with us and thats getting old, she beats me to death with her legs so im trying to find guidance on getting her in bed!!!!!!!!!!
Baby sleeping problems, please help!? Guhhh...my 5 1/2 month old doesn't sleep! during the day she takes 2 or 3 15-20 minute naps, she goes to bed at 7:30 and wakes up religiously at 9, 11, 2, 4, and 7 she does good about going back to sleep if I give her a binky or her bottle, but I'm not that lucky. I've tried baths before bed with the lavender body wash for babies I've tries feeding her a big baby meal, I don't know what else to do! Now it's to the point I can't even get back to sleep I just toss and turn untill the next time she gets up! We need sleep! How can I help my sweet girl to sleep all night?

baby sleeping problems...? I'm having trouble with my baby sleeping. He came home 2 days ago from his grandma's house and last night, he didn't sleep at all. He wont sleep for more than 20 minutes at a time no matter what i do. I gave him a bath, fed him, gave him a suckie and he won't sleep at all. What can I do? I know he's over tired and there's nothing I can think of that will get him to go to sleep.
Baby sleeping problems at night..Help!? I had my baby Friday Feb 19th, We brought him home sunday. He seems to sleep fine during the day and not want to sleep much at night. The hospital told me to feed him 1/2-1ounce every 3-4 hours but today I fed him 2 ounces and he seems to be sleeping even better during the day so I figured if I can feed him 2 ounces he may sleep fine at night. Because he has been getting hungry before hes supposed to and I have to literally take it from his mouth and I feel so bad because I know hes still hungry...Is it okay to feed 2ounces? And is not feeding him enough possibly the reason hes not sleeping good and waking up hungry before he should be?
Sleep problems with one year old baby! Help!? My baby is one years old and i'm having a really hard time to get him to sleep. I do rituals before bedtime. The problem is that he doesn't sleep easily. I have to sing and rock him for about one hour and sometimes more so that he sleeps. It's really hard to stay for one hour rocking to get him to sleep. Please if u have any suggestions to solve this problem. But not the cry it out method for i've read it is harmful emotionally and i won't do it with my baby. i'd like to add that i don't have a problem with him in sleeping through the night for he sleeps through the night but the problem is that he doesn't fall asleep easily it takes one hour or more for him to sleep and he refuses to sleep on his own i have to rock him for an hour so that he falls asleep

How can i get my 14 month old baby to sleep all night? My son has never been a good sleeper, he has been great when he goes to bed at 7pm he falls asleep on his own but then he is up at 1, 3 and then up for the day at either 5 or 6. I have tried puttiing him to bed later, it doesnt work. I am off work until 5th Jan and see this as a perfect opportunity to master his sleep problems but im struggling to do so. Any ideas pleeeeeeeeeeease x
Can my baby sleeping in a swing cause back problems? My baby prefers his swing much more than his crib and I've heard that sleeping in a car seat can cause back problems so I'm wondering if the swing will have the same effect?
How can I get my baby to sleep in her crib? My 6 month old baby refuses to sleep in her crib overnight. She fusses and cries until I put her beside me in my bed. I breastfeed her and it is easier throughout the night to do so when she's already next to me. During the day she has no problem sleeping in her crib but at night she won't do it.
Baby sleep problem... Mother tearing her hair out!!! Please help!?!? When I brought My baby home from the hospital she got into a routine very quickly, waking up at 12.00, 3.00 & 6.00 exactly, every night. When she has a growth spurt she woke every two hours & the same after she had her injections. Now i'm tearing my hair out because I'll put her to bed at 8.30, if i'm lucky she'll sleep untill 12.00 then be up every 1 1/2 - 2 hours, other times she'll be awake at 10.00 then I'll be up & down all night. I know she is not having a growth spurt & it's been a while since her injections. I've tried many things but to no such luck - 1) Giving her a large bottle of formula instead of breast feeding. 2) Getting her to bed later than usual 3) Lavender drops on her pillow 4) Lavender drops in her bath 5) Massage before bedtime with lavender oil. At 16 weeks I'm not expecting her to sleep through the night, I just want at least 3-4 hours straight sleep a night!!! Does anyone have any good suggestions? Just to clear something up, she does not have pillow as I mentioned, it's a baby-safe cushion type thingy to soak up baby vomit & dribble so it does not make every thing wet & make baby uncomfortable!!
HELP!!! baby sleeping problems!!? my 8 month old son is all of a sudden refusing to sleep in his crib. i usually rock him for a couple of minutes and then put him in his crib. then he falls asleep on his own. sometimes i have to go in and nurse him but then he's falls right to sleep. well for some reason he screams bloody murder every time i lay him down.even if i nurse him and he seems asleep, he starts crying the second i lay him down. i've been giving him a few minutes to cry, then i go in and rock him. he calms right down and goes right to sleep on me. but once i try to lay him down he starts crying again! i'm at my wit's end! he seems to just want to sleep on me! this goes for night time and naps. please any mommies with advice, i would greatly appreciate it.
where does your baby sleep for naps in the day? my son sleeps in his bouncer, when he starts getting tired i put him in it and bounce him to sleep. Only problem is hes now getting too big for it. My 7 month and 2 weeks old baby, sleeping problems!? It all started not long ago, like 2-3 weeks ago ... Every since she was born she slept great, even if she woke up once or twice to eat she would fall asleep right away. But now she wake up around 3-4 in the morning and will ot go back to sleep in her bed unless i take her with me in bed, and its not just this ..She also wants to fall sleep with my tit in her mouth, she start to refuse dummy more and more ... I don't mind she wake up to eat, but i want to sleep aloneee .... its just that i am so tired that i cant stand her crying and i take her with me, maybe i have to let her cry..?? Anyone had this problem before?? What did you do? She already got her first 2 teeth when she was 5 and half. I suspect she has that thing called separation anxiety, i am trying my best to be there when ever she needs me, i hope it will go back to normal soon. Thx girls anyways !
Do cradles effect a baby's sleep once they are moved to their cots? I am having my third child and I wanted to put the baby in my room for the first few months, but I can't decide if I want to buy a bassinet or cradle. I have never used either as I have always put my babys in their cots straight away. I like the idea of cradles as they can be rocked to settle them to sleep however I am worried that they will get use to the rocking motion and have problems sleeping once they are moved to their cots.
What do you think about allowing your baby to sleep in a playpen instead of a crib? I recently began putting my 7 month old daughter in her playpen in her room for naps and nighttime sleep, just to try to train her to sleep in it. This is because she refused to sleep in it before and wouldn't nap at my mom's when being babysat or when my husband and I would take her places. After the first day she caught on quick and has been sleeping in it for a whole week. She actually seems to sleep better in it than in her crib! With her crib she had been trying to yank the bumper off, and if I take the bumper off she smacks her head on the rails and gets her legs and arms stuck in the rails. Plus, she loses her pacificer through the rails and screams bloody murder until I come back in the room and give it to her. Having her in the playpen has eliminated these problems of the crib. Has anyone else had their baby sleep in a playpen? I worry that it may not be very comfy for her, but she seems to be sleeping great in it this past week. What do you think?
Baby sleep problem.. seriously need help? My kid is now 5 months old. Since the day he born he didnt sleep for more than 2 hrs. Per day he is sleeping only for 5-6 hrs. 3 year old with sleep problems, how do I sleep? Ok, quick background. I have a 3 year old with severe violent mood swings and a horrible sleep pattern. My husband is deployed and I have no other help. Im getting too tired to function during the day and don't know what else to do. My 3 year old's bedtime is 7:30. She is on Melatonin per the doctor's orders, and at this point is up to 6mg a night yet it does nothing. Scenario one: She goes to sleep at 7-7:30 on the dot, gets up one or more times from 10pm till 5am, usually staying up until the sun comes up or until it goes down again. Scenario two: She doesn't go to sleep at all until around 1am, then gets up at 6am. Problem: The baby sleeps from approx 11pm till approx 6-9am. I cannot put a breastfed 4 month old on a 'schedule' so please dont suggest it. At this point Im the walking dead and really getting tempting to lock her door at night. She gets for unknown reasons, but wakes up just like a normal child would...at 8am, but very tired and fussy and tempermental. We are doing testing to figure out why she is having these issues but trust me, dealing with this with a 3 year old takes time to do it right. I really cant physically go on forever with no sleep this way. I only get 1-5 hours a night every night and she doesn't take naps. What should I do? Unfortulately due to her severe mood swings I cant have just anyone deal with her. The amount of patience needed is amazing, plus I couldnt afford it. She has had sleep problems since before he left, so I know that isn't it. Thats what makes this so hard, she wont stay in my bed. The second I fall asleep she gets up and gets into everything. Lets face it, 'child proofing' is a speed bump, not a guarantee. I have the windows with extra locks, doors, cabinets etc, but any child can figure these out over time. Oh how I wish she would just sleep with me. She has been to two different hospitals, I am using all the resources the military has to offer, we are currently scheduling tons of tests, but everything takes time. I cant go forever on this little sleep. Insurance is trying to get an approval for a bed enclosure like she had in the hospital until we come up with a solution, but even that is taking a while.
Newborn baby, problems sleeping.? My newborn baby seems to have her days flipped, she sleeps all day and is wide awake during the night. What can i do to fix this problem? I try to wake her up in the day time so she is tired at night but doesn't work.

She is cutting her 2 bottom teeth at the moment and last night it got so bad she woke at 9.40 and didnt go back to sleep untill 1 and still woke at 5am :( Her usual sleep time is about 7am with wakes during the night she wakes up at 4.30-5.30am. Baby Unusual Sleeping Problems. Please help!? My 9 month old baby boy is having troubles sleeping. I am keeping him on the same schedule, both feeding and sleep schedule. This problem started 2 weeks ago. I put him to bed and he will sleep for 2 to 4 hours straight. Then he will wake up immediately start crying. He never use to cry at night. He does this 3 or 4 times nightly. Inbetween this he will fuss and fuss. He cant stop moving. He kicks his feet very fast, and keeps flipping from side to side and once he gets on his stomach he wakes up. *Any suggestions* *imput* Is this a doctor issue?
baby sleep? everyone told me to make sure i made as much noise as i needed to throughout the day when the baby was sleeping, to assure that didnt need to tip toe around .. now that he can sleep through anything, he cant fall asleep without noise? has anyone else had this problem? he wont fall asleep unless i put music on next to him loud... or running water really loud.. anything to make noise really, does this eventually stop?
Two problems- baby doesn't sleep and eats too much? My daughter will be 5 months next week. Since her 4mo appointment when she was at the 90th percentile for weight and 50th for height, the doctor said he was concerned about her eating. He recommended we space her feedings out more. So all month, we've been doing 4oz every 4 hours, but now we have a new problem. She refuses to sleep. We've cut her naps down to 1 hour once a day. She goes down around 11pm, but still wakes up every 3 hours or less at night and stays up and screams for 30min to an hour every time. The only way we can get her back to sleep is to feed. Doc says this is wrong and she should be sleeping through the whole night at this age and should not need to be fed at night. I don't know what else I can do! We're both sleep deprived and crabby. A couple times we have tried refusing feeding at night, and she literally cried for HOURS ALL NIGHT. I'm afraid to keep doing this for fear someone calls Child Services and says we're neglecting her or something. Help? None of these things I've tried are my own ideas. The doctor recommended it, because he said I'm just feeding her to get her to sleep and she doesn't need the extra calories at night. I'm not a bad mother, so please don't make me feel that way please.
Best book on the market for baby sleep problems...any recommendations.? My 7 month old has been catnapping for 2 months now. He was a good night sleeper but that seems to have been disrupted also. Does anybody have any suggestions, advice or experiences with a poor sleeper. Has anybody read any helpful books on sleep training??
Baby sleep problem, serious.? My brother is 5-6 months and everytime he falls asleep in his cot, he rolls onto his face. Even if he falls asleep on his back he'll always move so hes face down. I never did it as a baby, so i'm worried about him. He's done it about 6 times just today. Its a terryfying prospect and the whole family is worried, please help.
baby sleep problem...PLEASE PLEASE help!!!? My son is 5 months and has never been a great sleeper...His cot is right next to our bed and I always end up taking him in the bed next to me just for the peace, but I am trying to break the habbit...he goes to bed about 8 and sleeps about 3/4 hours, until we go to bed about 11/12 and always seems to wake up around this time, when he sees that we are there he wont go back to sleep untill I take him next to me..believe me I have tried to leave him but it doesnt work!! Even when I take him next to me now he is waking up every 2 hours, and will only go back to sleep if I breastfeed him...I know its a comfort thing... I just dont get why he wakes up every two hours, I dont think he is hungry as he is on solids now, 3 times a day along with formula milk...I only really breastfeed at night now or if he wants a 'snack'...please can someone tell me what I am doing wrong??! I keep thinking he might sleep better in his own room? But I never planned on moving him in this early.. Thanks :) forgot to add...we try to have bedtime routine, bath, give him his bottle in bedroom with lights off, put his music mobile on etc...just dont know what else I can do!!
if you sleep with your cousin and get pregnant could the baby have health problems? i'm just wondering thats all, i'm not doing it! i see it on emmerdale and wonder if the kids would have problems. i meant your actual cousin, 1st cousin, like your mum's sister's son,
16month old baby sleeping problems ? My lil boy screams everytime i lay him down to bed or a nap. i mean screams.. bloody murder screams!!! I cant take it anymore.. he just wont stop. Does anyone have any ideas how to make him stop doing this!
ok, baby sleeping problems...sorta..? my son is 5 1/2 months now - this is fairly new, as in the past - baby would just do his ah ah cry to say he was sleepy, and you could just put him down and he 'd suck thumb and pass out...just recently though- its taking hours to get him down even though he is so tired. i've tried earlier to put him to bed, but he only naps for about 10 minutes, which is fine, and he used to do that too, than have a bottle aand go to bed, now..nope-sigh. what should i be trying...we rock and rock, just let him lye in our bed while we watch tv. than rock some more in dark quiet etc..this goes on and on. i'm at a loss. need some advise. I TOLD u I already tried sooner, and he migth even fall asleep, but gets up just after 10 minutes and eats his last meal. mzj, did u have any other signs of ear infection ? my son has been sneezing and had a stuffy nose for 2 days - but otherwise seems to act totally normal.
How can I get my 4 month old baby to sleep during the day? My 4 month old daughter does not sleep during the day. This started from 2 months. before that she was only having two hours of sleep during the day. Sometimes only 30 mins. However, at night she does sleep from around 10 - 11 pm to 8 - 9 am with two feeds in between. Now it has become worse for her when she is awake during the day since she becomes unsettled and i find my self breatfeeding her every 1-2 hours. I know when her feed, play and sleep times are its just. The problem is sleeps while being breastfed then wakes up. I tried rocking, giving her a dummy, holding her in my arms, next to me in bed, car, etc.. she falls asleep but is then wide awake after 10-30 mins. I think its her deep sleep that she wakes up to probably for sucking. I have two other kids, she is the first to be fully breastfed. do you think she could still be hungry. how do i get my baby to take the bottle. Even in the pram while iam shooping she doesnt sleep. She does have wind/colic still. I need help please
Pls HELP :Baby sleep problem? okay- so I'm not sure if this situation is unique .My girlfriends think it is ! My 5 month old co-sleeps with us. She sleeps through the night BUT moves a LOT during the night. She moves as if she is swimming. I feed her at 10 p.m. when I put her to bed, then at 1:a.m. and then at 6 a.m. Everytime she moves, I hold her, she calms down and then again in 30 mins she starts moving her arms and legs as if she is swimming. I did some research online and found few blogs which insinuate that this happens to babies in phases- although there is no real examples behind it. Anyone experienced this? Thanks One more peice of info- during the night she NEVER opens her eyes..she just swims with closed eyes!
How do you train a baby to sleep through the night when you live with others? My baby has no problem falling asleep on her own but still wakes up a few times durring the night. I'm trying some new methods to help her sleep and i know that sometimes you just have to let her cry, but i sleep in the same room and i also share a home with other people. I'm afraid that they will get mad if i dont tend to my baby right away when she starts to cry.
3 week old baby, fussy, sleeping problems, formula..please read? My baby boy is 3 weeks old. I started out breastfeeding him but had problems with it and supplemented formula, then had to switch to formula for a few days, then went back to breastfeeding for a few days, and now have had to cut it out again. The only formula I have tried him on has been Similac Advance Early Shield. When he was on the breast he'd have a TON of gas and would cry and scream and pull away. He's had fussy times every day and the past two days he's only slept for an hour at a time at night, but sleeps okay during the day. He does spit up a bit, not much. Seems like he burps less the past two days. Our pediatrician told us to use Mylicon, so we have been. When he's feeding now, he'll still fuss (not anywhere near what he did on breast though). Sometimes it seems like his tummy really hurts him, how he cries and grimaces and pulls his legs up. He had a really awful diaper rash when he was breast feeding, too. Now on formula it's getting SO much better. I'm wondering if his current sleeping issues and gassiness and fussiness could be due to his formula. Could he be allergic to milk? Should I try switching formulas? If I did that, what should I switch to, and how soon would I be able to tell if it's better? Also, could someone recommend a Good Start formula? (I may be getting WIC and that's what they pay for in FL...but I still want recommendations on other formulas.) Thanks for the time!!
does baby food cause problems sleeping? my son is 5 months old and has been getting baby food for the past month... during the last past 3 nights he has been having problems sleeping. he takes 1 nap about 30 min then gets tired at night so we get him ready and put him to bed only to have him wake up with in 20 mins. this is happening all night for the most part... what should i do???? please any ideas?
Baby sleeping problems? my baby is almost 9 months, he doesnt sleep thru the night, he is always on the move hesvery very active, but this carries on into the night hes always moving around his crib very restless, and wakes up dozens of times.. Im worried that something is wrong altho the docs say its normal because hes active.. i would think that would make him sleep better??? I just dont like this answer.. anyone have any ideas?? yes ive tried a routine, ive tried feeding more, less, ive tried letting him cry, and rocking to sleep.... i dont think ive not tried anything, i just cant seem to find anything that works, and im prolly goin to have to go back to work soon, and i dont know how i will do it and not sleep, I thought it was certian foods, wheat seemed to make him a little more hyper so i tried changing cereals and not givin him wheat, no difference, and the doc said that foods wont do that (whatever) i dont know, let me know if anyone else finds something
baby sleeping problems? my son is 2.5 months old, and only falls asleep if he is moving (car, seing, rocking), or if he is lying on someone's chest getting his back rubbed or his bottom pat. i dont want him to think he will get it forever, so how do i get him to sleep without having to do all this, and without him screaming himself to sleep?
Does anyone know of a way to help my baby sleep better at night? Is there any kind of liquid drops to give the My baby seems to sleep okay once she gets to sleep, it is just getting there that is the problem. She just cries and cries and fights going to sleep mostly at bedtime. She is only 2 months old but she sleeps pretty good during the day and goes to sleep pretty easy. Is there any herbs or drops for this problem? Any suggestions would be appriciated. Thanks!
How can i make my baby sleep in her bed? My 6.5 months dosn't like to sleep in her crib she only falls asleep in our bed, the problem is that she turns a lot during the night and i put pillows all around but i'm scred she'll knock them over and then she'll fall. I tried to make her sleep in the crib since shes a baby but no luck what should i do??? i give her a bath every night and feed her formula before she goes to sleep.
How to get this baby to sleep later? My son just turned one, and is on a pretty solid routine, bed at 7:30, up at 7:30; nap at 10, up at 11:30; nap at 2, up at 3. Got the whole bedtime routine down, goes to sleep no problem every night, every nap, no questions asked. Sleeps through the night for last 5 months or so. For the last two weeks, he has been getting up at 5:30 - 5:45 and is CLEARLY still tired. It is an absolute nightmare in my house until he goes down for his nap, which he wants to do earlier and earlier. I hesitate because if I do, it seems to ruin the whole day (all off schedule, cranky, and generally upset). I've tried going in for a hug, putting back to bed, just leaving him in bed but eventually he cries too hard and clearly isn't going back to sleep, getting him up and making him stick it out until close to naptime... No new teeth coming in (just finished four molars...), no change in routine, nothing new. What gives? I work nights, and getting up at 5:30 about kills me. Any suggestions? To the one who said he obviously sleeps too much, do the math, he sleeps as much as yours. 12 hours per night and 3 hours napping is the same amount of sleep no matter how you break it up. Why are people so judgemental? To the others: this might sound stupid, but how do you go about cutting one nap out? He seems sooo tired around nap 2 (rubbing eyes, stumbling around, crabby, etc.). Is it just a game of distraction until he "gets over it"? Should I move the first nap up to later in the morning/afternoon? He's walking well, practically runs all over the place when he's awake, seems worn out by 2 o'clock... The whole sleeping thing was so easy up to this point lol... He did it on his own, I just went with his cues. It hasn't been that long since he dropped his evening nap (maybe 2-3 months) and he just kind of stopped getting tired for that one so I stopped putting him down... Thank you all for your input, this is the first time I've been truly frustrated and at a loss lol...
Baby sleeping in crib problems..? My baby is almost 4months old. Her first 9weeks she had colic VERY BAD so she slept in our room. We have tried to put her in her crib but she wont stay in it! My boyfriend said to just let her cry and she will eventually sleep..I kept telling him that I tried and he witnessed it last night-she cried for 45 minutes and wouldnt fall asleep!!! She wont sleep in the car either! She screams when we drive. When she is in our bed, she sleep for 5 hours at a time during the night.. I have talked to many people and I have had responses go both ways. Some people said that they had their baby in their beds for the longest time with no problems and some went the opposite way. What do you think? O and she is a very light sleeper! i try to move her and she wakes up.
Help!! My 11 week old baby has sleeping problems!!? Hey everyone...my 11 week old DS has sleep issues, as im sure most newborns do! He sleeps in his bassinet perfectly at night, wakes up to feed every 2 hours and I can put him back in it with no problems at all. During the day is a different story. He will only sleep in my arms, as soon as I put him down , poof! He is wide awake. Ive tried over and over to lay him down in his crib or bassinet awake and asleep to try and get him used to it but its the same thing each time. I know some people say to let him cry, ive done that but I will only let that get so far. Truthfully I dont mind holding him but I know that if the problem is not corrected now then it will only get worse later on. The funny thing is , right from the time he was born he would NOT fall asleep in the bassinet, even in the hospital...it was always the same thing! Any suggestions!! Im breastfeeding him as well, thats why he does wake as often as he does at night, some times its every 2 hours and some times its every 4! I dont mind the night time but its the day that has me worried!!
Baby & Mom Sleeping Problems? I have just give birth 6 weeks ago and i am about to return to work soon, but my work schedule is from 5 PM to 12 PM and my baby is always awake and cry during my bedtime period at 1 AM to 3 AM. If this pattern won't change it will affect my jobs. Any Tips can you give me how control my baby's sleeping patern? Thank you...
My baby is 18 days old and I am wondering how to get her to sleep at night? My baby sleeps most of the day and she sleeps great. Only waking up every few hours to eat. I try to keep her awake in the daytime more but it is impossible to keep her awake. When she is ready to sleep, she is out. No matter if she is in the upright position or if she is laying down or what ever. At night around 12:30 she wakes up and that seems to be one of her most active times. I feed her but she is usually wide awake and will not go back to sleep until 3:00-4:00 am. Even then she is back up at 6:00am. It is terrible for my husband and I because we are so tired. My baby goes back to sleep at around 8:00-9:00am and that is when she begins her daily sleeping. She just can not seem to get her days and nights fixed....I try sleeping in the day while she is napping but in all reality that is not always possible. I have 3 other children to take care of as well. I never had this type of problem with the other children. They woke up in the middle of the night but not like this. HELP!
I think my baby has sleep apnea? I was reading about sleep problems in my baby care books and everything points to sleep apnea. my baby is 7 weeks old and has been showing these signs since he was born. - persistently sounded congested, even though we can't get anything with the bulb dropper. - he sleeps and keeps his mouth open 90% of the time - he has troubles having BM and they are often liquidy - he snores alot, and rarely ever is a quite breather when sleeping - has trouble holding onto things (e.g. soother or nipple) for long periods because he seems not to be able to breathe and is gasping - he is sleep deprived. he's tired all the time and can't get to or stay asleep, he wakes suddenly and gasps - he has watery eyes ALL of the time - he seems like he has a cold, but he's yet to show any other symptoms other than the congestion. my son's appointment isn't until the 28th. I also don't have alot of faith in this nurse practitioner and she doesn't seem to care or be very knowledgeable with alot of things. but she's all we got for now. I rely on her for my eldest's immunizations and care for my newborn, but other than that we don't go to her. she doesn't remember who we are anytime we go in, let alone anything about the situation. I'm going to force her to give my baby a thorough checkup on our next visit. but what do I do til then??? he gags and sometimes vomits when we offer a soother. the reason we come to think its this so late, is because medical professionals keep telling us its nothing, when we know it is not something to be ignored.
Baby's sleeping problems!? My daughter will be 5 months old on the 19th and she is a nightmare to get to sleep during the day and at night (unless in the car or out in the pushchair). When she was younger she went through a stage of being able to get herself to sleep most of the time as long as she had a blanket to snuggle into! However now its a real struggle to get her to sleep even when shes being rocked, i can see she is tired but she will just scream. Ive tried everything i can think of from routine at bedtime to keeping it quiet while she has her last bottle but nothing seems to help! does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone gone through this themselves? what worked for you? Thanks! She does suffer with wind, she still has infacol before each feed but i dont think its the wind thats a problem and she does have a bit of reflux but it doesnt seem to be painful for her! I do sometimes leave her to cry for a couple of mins but she gets so worked up and it doesnt really help!
My baby has sleeping problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? She was in hospital for 3 weeks when born and they have sent her home on medication. It is a morhime based medication due to her withdrawing from methadone (please fo not judge as I hhave done enough of that myself and was told by doctors I was not allowed to just dtop as it could of caused misscarrage) She is doing ok on her reduction but fidgets a lot at night. She just can not seem to settle. It takes me ages as I have to sit and keeps giving her her dummy ( dummy was reccomended by special baby care nurses due to condition). Does anyone have any advice to help her please. Please remember this is not about telling me I am scum of the earth as I feel so guilty that would never believe. This is about helping her. Thank you.
17mth Baby son having problems going to sleep? Oue son use to go to sleep eaily at night and wake once a night but would easily go ack to sleep, I recently sent my partner away with the kids to her sisters while I did a bathroom renovation for two weeks, during that time they slept on matresses and since he has come back he does not want to go sleep in his cot at night, I have tried going in every 10 or so minutes to reasurre him, when i go in will go quiet and looks like asleep and as soon as i get up will start crying, the only way to get him to sleep is to sleep in his room. If you get out of there and he wakes up will scream. I know he has gotten out of his routine which we had pretty downpacked, how long does it take for him top get back to th routine?, or after sleeping on a matress would he be ready for a bed. Also i have notice he has become very clingy to his mother since they have come back, how do we overcome this?
How soon can I let my baby sleep on his stomach? I know we have to make him sleep on his back, but he seems to prefer sleeping on his stomach... that seems to help him with gas problems too... anyway, what is the OK age to let him sleep on his stomach?
Does my baby have a sleep problem? My son falls asleep by himself in his crib, but then wakes up every two hours crying. For the first 6 hours we can usually put his soother back in his mouth and he falls right back asleep. After this, the interval gets shorter and eventually we cave in and bring him to bed, where he continues to wake up, gets his soother and then falls back asleep. So I am assuming my baby has a sleep problem, but all the literature I have read refers to babies who cannot fall asleep without being picked up and comforted for a while. I guess the soother does that job for us, so perhaps its the same thing. Do we need to turn to Ferber, or are there other less drastic measures?
Please help! I need encouragement about my baby's sleep habits!? My baby is 3 months and 1 week old and he still sleeps like a newborn! Up 2 or 3 times a night, catnaps all day long. Inconsistent time to fall asleep at night. There is no pattern developing, and I'm worried. Does he have a sleep problem? All of my friends with babies say their baby sleeps at least 5 hours per night! 2 of my friends have babies 4 and 5 months old that have been sleeping for 10 or 12 hours a night since they were 2 months. I'm sooooo tired and surrounded by people who have sleeping babies! Please give me some advice or encouragement.
