Getting Baby To Sleep In Crib Knowledge Base

Advice on getting baby to sleep in crib? I have put her in the crib before but she will wake up every 2 hours. If she sleeps with me she sleeps 12 hours, but I can't rest good. She is 5 months. How long does it take for her to get used to sleeping alone?
Book for getting baby to sleep in crib? I'm trying to transition my co-sleeping 10-month old into his crib as I'll be going back to work a few nights a week after his first b-day. I've heard people reference a book by some woman on this board a few times. She doesn't use cry-it-out methods. I'm not interested in Ferber or those nutjob "babywise" people either, but if anyone has some personal tips I'd appreciate it.
Help getting baby to sleep in crib ALL night? I have an 8 month old that actually sleeps very well. However, he sometimes will wake up in the middle of the night and won't go back to sleep but if I lay him with me and cuddle him, he conks right out. He went through a week where he did not do this at all but now he's back to waking. I'm not sure what to do. He definitely goes to bed with a full tummy and we follow a night time ritual. Any suggestions?
how to help baby sleep in crib? Well, I was letting my 3 month old sleep in her car seat due to having a cold and needing to be in upright position. She would sleep for a good 7 hours at night, however I have put her in her back in her crib and she is now getting up about every 3 hours again. Does anyone know how long it will take her to get used to her crib again? It's only been 3 nights, but I'm exausted!
Do you think this is improvement in getting my baby to sleep in her crib? Usually she will scream the minute I leave the room and I end up putting her in bed with me but this morning she had woke up and I needed to get ready for work so I put her in her crib with her baby and teddy and she played happily for half an hour. Any ideas on how to keep her happy in her crib like this at night?
When should I start having my baby sleep in her crib? My baby is almost a month old and she is sleeping in a bassanet in our room right now. When should she start sleeping in her crib? I don't want her to get so used to our room and not be able to sleep in her room... I put her in her crib during the day when shes sleeping and she does fine, but at night its like she knows shes not in our room. i would love for her to sleep in her room at night because when she moves around a lot and makes her little noises i think shes awake and then i actually wake her up. i have moniters so i will be able to hear her..
After using the bassinet, how often does your baby sleep in the crib? I am expecting my baby soon and my friends are telling me that the crib was a waste of money. After the baby grew out of the bassinet, they end up sleeping in the bed with them. I have a small apartment and I'm wondering do I need to get the crib or a really big bassinet. Help!
How can my 16 month baby sleep in her crib? She was sleeping fine in her crib she won't sleep all night there, but it was ok with us. I would go get at the middle of the night, she was even started to go for longer nights in her crib. I've tried letting her cry it out and going in her room every 10-20 mins letting her know am there, and am pretty sure she's not teething her modules are in. Am about too just give up and let her sleep with us!!!!
How do I get my 6 week old baby to sleep in the crib instead of the bassinet? Baby sleeps in 3-5 hour segments - in the bassinet, in my arms or in the bed next to us. However, when placed in his room in his crib, he will wake up within 1 hour. He will soon outgrow the bassinet and have to sleep in the crib. HELP!!!! Thanks! I am not trying to make him do for himself at this age. However, he needs to get used to sleeping in the crib because he just will not fit into the bassinet much longer! I will try swaddling him more often when he sleeps. I notice that he startles pretty easy, which is common in newborns. He is already close to 24 inches long and bassinets aren't designed for sleeping in past 3 months anyhow for most kids. Thanks everyone who responded. It helps! My baby weighs more than 10 lbs. Closer to 12-13 now. Was 10-7 at last appointment. Currently sleeps for hours in swing, bassinet or my arms. Will outgrow swing and bassinet (size wise) and needs to sleep in crib. Will take naps in crib, but not longer than 45 minutes. Thanks for the hints & tips everyone.
Getting my baby to sleep in her crib? My baby will be 4 weeks old on Thursday (January 25th). She has slept with her daddy and I every night since she came home from the hospital. I do not want to get a habit started. And, I want her to learn from an early age that people don't always get what they want. I did not do that with my 5 year old son. And, he was very spoiled...now he's a brat that will not listen to anyone...any helpful hints or tips at how to get a baby to sleep and most of all stay asleep in her own crib... she has a pack n' play crib in our room...

how do I get my baby to sleep in his crib? When i was in the hospital the lactation specialist told me it would encourage brest milk production if I let my baby sleep on my chest. My husband and I co-sleep with our son,he started rolling over lastnight and we have a pillowtop mattress,so I feel like it is getting to be to dangerous for him to keep sleeping with us.Since he was born, I always tried to get him to sleep in his crib, but he never would,I have tried everything. It got to the point I was so sleep deprived, that I had to try anything to get some sleep.Has anybody else ever went thru this, what did you do to get your child to finally sleep in their crib?
Some strategies to getting my baby to sleep alone in her crib? My daughter is almost 8 months and is going to be crawling very soon, so i would like to get her to sleep in her crib, but every time i put her in there, she screams..she doesn't like to be alone! getting baby to sleep in crib? my baby is 6 weeks old and has been sleeping in the bed with me pretty much since we brought him home from the hospital. if i put him in his crib now do u think he will have a hard time adjusting? i figured since he is still so little it might not be that difficult, but i dont know. i was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this.
How can I get 2 month old baby to sleep in his crib? I have been sleeping my 2 month old in my bed with me since day 1. I breastfeed so its alot easier to have him next to me at night. Well, in order to do this I had to send my husband to sleep on the couch. We both had enough of this arrangement and want the baby in his crib, but everytime I put him down in it he cries and cries. Ive tried putting him down asleep, awake , and half asleep. Everytime he wakes up very alert and refuses to sleep in there. I dont want things to get worse so I want to take care of this now that he is only 2 months. Oh and please dont tell me to try the ferber method. I did with a previous child and absolutely cant do that again. It is too hearbreaking for me. Please give me some suggestions so I can have my husband back . By the way, my sons crib is in my room next to my bed, so I am very close to him. I tried to let him cry a few days ago but everytime I checked on him he was covered in sweat. I had the same problem with my now 10 year old , he slept with me for almost 4 years. He is great now but the transition time for him was hell for all of us so I want my new baby to learn to sleep without me while he is still a baby. I just dont know if I should still let him lay there while he is covered in sweat and crying like there is no tomorrow. My husband is out of town for 2 weeks because of work so I want to get something acomplished in this time frame or at least begin to do something. Also just thought Id let you know, he does not take bottles so I breastfeed 100% of the time. If any of you have tried the ferber method or any other method with a baby of this age please give me all the details so I dont feel like Im doing it all wrong.
Does your baby sleep in her own crib, how did you do it? I just had my beautiful baby girl this Saturday!!! I am so happy. I really would like to have this baby sleep in her own crib. My other two children were in bed with us from the time they were newborns until they were big. I would love to get my new one to sleep on her own, but have not been able to in the past. How did you do it? I can't just let her cry. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I need help getting my baby to sleep in his crib....? How do I get my baby to sleep in his crib? I made the mistake of letting him sleep with my sometimes and now he is not wanting to go to sleep on his own in his crib, how do I fix my classic mistake? No rude judgements pls, I am admitting I made a mistake. Thanks.
What do you think about allowing your baby to sleep in a playpen instead of a crib? I recently began putting my 7 month old daughter in her playpen in her room for naps and nighttime sleep, just to try to train her to sleep in it. This is because she refused to sleep in it before and wouldn't nap at my mom's when being babysat or when my husband and I would take her places. After the first day she caught on quick and has been sleeping in it for a whole week. She actually seems to sleep better in it than in her crib! With her crib she had been trying to yank the bumper off, and if I take the bumper off she smacks her head on the rails and gets her legs and arms stuck in the rails. Plus, she loses her pacificer through the rails and screams bloody murder until I come back in the room and give it to her. Having her in the playpen has eliminated these problems of the crib. Has anyone else had their baby sleep in a playpen? I worry that it may not be very comfy for her, but she seems to be sleeping great in it this past week. What do you think?
how to get baby to sleep in crib instead of swing? My 4 month old loves to sleep in the swing, and has been sleeping there every night and every nap. I realize this can't go on forever (batteries are expensive) so has anyone had the experience of getting their baby out of this habit? Please only reply if you are a parent and have had this situation :) thanks!!!
How to get 11 week baby to sleep in crib? He will sleep what I consider all night anywhere from 7-8 hours without waking up, but the bad part is that he falls asleep in the swing every night. I need to know how to get him from sleeping all night in the swing to sleeping all night in the crib.
How do I get my baby to sleep in his crib? My baby is 4 months old, and he will not sleep in crib. He never has liked it. He will only fall asleep while I am holding him and will only stay asleep in his car seat. He can't do this forever, and what can I do to help him sleep in his crib. He is likes his mobile for a couple of minutes, then he just starts to cry.

9 month old baby sleep in crib or bed with mommy? my son is now 9 months old and he has not slept in my bed until the last 2 weeks he has been waking up crying he doesnt want a bottle he doesnt need a diaper change he just wants to sleep with me. I know he is teething and he has had 6 teeth come in so far but i cant seem to keep him in his crib at night. I have tried letting him cry, rubbing his back, but as soon as i pick him up he lays his head on my shoulder and goes back to sleep i try to put him back in the crib and he wakes up crying and sits up and put's his hands out for me to get him. I feel terrible putting him in the bed with me but it seems the only way that either of us are getting any sleep these last couple of weeks. Do i do it for now because i know he's teething and maybe its just a phase? I just dont know what to do at this point. I dont want to start any bad habits with him. Honestly, it is so uncomfortable to have him in the bed with me. Can anyone help any suggestions will be much appreciated...thank you
Why doesn't baby sleep in her crib? Caycie is 7 weeks old. From day 1, she would not sleep in her crib. The only way she will get a few hours of sleep at night is sleeping with me, with my hand on her or sleeping on my tummy. During the day, she will nap only if she is around us but not in her room . We tried leaving music or light on but nothing will work. Why is Caycie doing this, and most importantly, what to do to change the pattern?
getting baby to sleep in crib and not his swing? ever since my son was born he would only sleep in his swing. he is 5 months old now.. i try and get him to nap in his crib but he refuses. ill rock him to sleep and he will be passed out and right when i lay him in his crib he wakes up wide awake. the only way i can get him to sleep in there is to keep a bottle proped in there with him and he will only stay asleep for an hour in there. has anyone been through this before? im pregnant with #2 already and need to get him sleeping in his crib before the new baby comes in 8 months!!!
Getting baby to sleep in crib and breastfeeding? My 6.5 month old and I are currently bed-sharing (long story but my fiance sleeps in his separate bedroom). My little guy gets so restless at night from me moving around and my back is about to give out from sleeping in one position all night that I think it's time to get him to sleep in his crib. After posting a question about bed-sharing, I decided that I'm going to start out by moving his crib (with the front face removed) right next to my bed and gradually move him further and further away. Here's the question part. My little bub still wakes up several times a night to nurse and I was wondering how to handle night time feedings with getting him in his own crib. Because of medical issues, he has to feed at the most every 6 hours anyway but he's really dependent on the night time feedings. Any experiences or advice? He uses a paci but I think I want to get him off it before I try getting him in his own bed. P.S.!! He refuses a bottle (and yes I've tried every freakin trick in the book lol) and drinks from a regular cup so that's NOT an option! Thank you!!!!
Tips to get baby to sleep in crib? Need to get our 4 month old to sleep in her crib. Currently, she sleeps in our bed with us. Any suggestions?
What is the best place for my baby sleep during first few months? co-sleeper, bassinet, pack n play, crib? Ok, so my first thought was to put my baby to sleep in her crib in the next room with doors open and a baby monitor but my mom asked me the other day where baby is going to sleep in my room and she said that newborns should sleep close by. Then I went to prenatal classes and they said the same thing to have baby in the same room for the first few months. My husband works night and day shifts so it would be more convenient to have something which I can move around and take out of our room when he has to sleep during the day. We thought of moving the crib to our room but then I wouldn't have anywhere to put baby down during the day if my husband is sleeping. I think my hubby is leaning towards a co-sleeper but I wonder if baby would get too used to this and fuss when we want to move her to her crib? Will baby be woken up too much by our movements? A bassinet would be handy and portable throughout the house - what is your experience with them if you used? How long will they last for because they aren't very big. A pack and play would also be handy for moving or taking to grandmas house but how comfortable are they for baby? Please tell me what you think if you used this method. Please help, not sure what to do....Due in 6 weeks! I plan on breastfeeding so having her in the same room would definately give me easier access to do this.
did your baby sleep in the crib or with you in your bed? Everyone is telling me dont buy a crib she's not gonna sleep in it by a bassinet so she can be next to you or you'll feel really bad and your gonna want her to sleep in your bed with you everynight, But i dont want her to get use to either things but i know i will want her close becasue i'm afraid of SIDS like i'm gonna be waking up every hour to make sure she is breathing, Did your babies sleep with you in your bed? or in a crib? right after delivery, if you had a bassinet for how long can they sleep in their before they dont fit?
How do you get your baby to sleep in the crib? My baby will not sleep in the crib!! He only will sleep in his car seat! Does anyone have any suggestions about how to get him to sleep in his crib?
GETTING BABY TO SLEEP IN CRIB? (a little long)? Hi, my son is 9 weeks old and has been sleeping half in his bassinet/half in the bed with us. Well he is a light sleeper and still wakes up to eat 2-3 times a night, but I feel that sometimes he wakes up because of the noise we make...(i snore and hubby moves ALOT). Soo I want to get him to sleep in his crib in his room. Any ideas on how to get him to stay in there, ive tried sometimes with naps a few weeks ago and he just wakes up and lays there wide awake and eventually starts to cry. Do i just persist, let him cry? do i comfort him? do i buy a white noise machine?...any times would be greatly appreciated, I think that he will sleep better being in a room where he cant hear us (sometimes he wakes up not for food just for nothing and i think thats why). Also should I ALWAYS put him in there for naps and everything to get him more used to the room?
How can I get my baby to sleep in her crib? My 6 month old baby refuses to sleep in her crib overnight. She fusses and cries until I put her beside me in my bed. I breastfeed her and it is easier throughout the night to do so when she's already next to me. During the day she has no problem sleeping in her crib but at night she won't do it.
Getting prepared for baby #1, have some questions about safe sleeping, and crib sets.? 1. Do i seriously have to buy a crib set?? they are super expensive, what is the difference if i buy toddler size bedding? 2. I am very concerned with like suffocation and stuff in the crib, what do the babies sleep with?? like will a new born use a quilt or do you just use light baby blankets?? or do you just dress them very warm?? I'm super confused,
How can I get my baby to sleep in her crib instead of the swing? My baby is 2 1/2 months old and she's always slept in the swing all night and all naps. Now I am trying for her to sleep in her crib. Any tips on doing this transition would be much appreciated. Thanks!
How to get my baby to sleep in his crib? My 8 month old son has always been pretty good about sleeping but about 3 weeks ago he was sick and ever since then he refuses to sleep in his crib. I can't put him in there before he goes to sleep because he will cry, and if he does fall asleep and I put him in there, he wakes up crying :( Please help. This is getting really hard! I will NOT let him cry it out. I have tried his mobile and soothing sounds.
Getting a co-sleeping baby to sleep in his crib? I love to co sleep with my son,I love waking up in the middle of the night and having my baby next to me. unfortunately I have found that co sleeping is not safe to do so anymore. Damian use to sleep next to me facing the wall, there was a blanket in the empty space between wall and bed. Damian started to move so much at the night that I'm afraid that me or my husband are going to roll over him. I'm starting to put him in his own crib but he just cries. I rock him but as soon as he feels the bed he starts to cry and won't go back to sleep. any one have any suggestion to get him to sleep in his crib? He is 10 months Nadia, my husband and I decide to co sleep because it was much easier to nurse him at night. Also not that is anyone business, we went to the floor or the living room. Thanks for judging =)
Better to have newborn sleep in the crib in my room or in baby's room? I am due in March and just wondering if its better to have the baby sleep in my bedroom (I know the baby will be too small and I feel horrible at the thought of leaving him in a room all alone). A friend just had her 2nd baby and she put the baby in the crib in the baby's room the first night at home. Her baby wakes up a lot but she says that way he will get used to his room and sleeping alone. But, I don't know, a few days old baby is too little and needs mommy. What do you think?
Any suggestions on how to get my baby to sleep in the crib? Hey guys I have a 8 month old baby girl who has never been able to sleep in anything but the swing! (She is strapped in) She has always been a light and picky sleeper and it took us forever to even find anything she would fall asleep in! So I am slowly trying to get her into her crib. Any suggestions or similar experiences?
How do i get my 6 week old baby to sleep in her crib? My 6 weeks old baby only stays in her crib for 15 minutes at the time. If she is sleep as soon as i put her down she wakes up. At night she sleeps in our bed and during the day naps either in the swing or on top of me in the couch. What can i do for her to sleep in her crib? I'm going back to work in 6 weeks and have been told no one will want to babysit if she doesn't sleep in her crib.
Ideas to help my baby sleep in crib? Hello, I have a 5 week old little girl and I am trying to get her used to her crib for when she starts sleeping in there over night. I didnt want her sleeping in there for a while, I felt safer with her in a bassinet in my room and she has slept on my bed many times. She does not mind sleeping alone but I feel she got use to the feel of my bed or my couch so when I put her on her crib mattress she is not happy. I have moved the mattress out to the living room while I am out there since the crib has to be taken apart to fit out the door so when she falls asleep I put her on it, and I lay her on it to play so I can get her use to the feel of it. But she seems to wake up most every time I lay her on it. I tried taking the vibrator off her bouncer and putting on the end to vibrate the mattress which worked great with my nephew but she has never seemed to like the vibrating that much. Am I going about this wrong or is there anything more I can do. I don't feel safe enough to just leave her in her crib just yet without monitors even though her crib has no moving parts and is made out of real, sturdy wood, but she needs to get use to the feel now before it gets too late. I don't have monitors just yet, I am hoping to get some soon. Also she does not take well to a binky either. She uses it sometimes but often won't but for a minute or two before spitting it out. I do plan to get her a mobile this weekend and I hope that will help things. She is a wonderful baby and hardly gives me any trouble at all, this is the only thing. I will try putting one of my shirts in there, thats sounds like a good idea, thank you[= She doesn't really sleep in her bouncer, I thought she would because of the vibrating but nope. What usually puts her to sleep is patting her back but of course I can only do that while holding her, I wont leave her sleeping on her stomach unless I am literally sitting next to her and don't plan on moving, that is way too dangerous. I will try these few tips out and hope they work!
Baby sleeps in crib at night, but wont during day? My 2 month old will sleep in the crib at night, waking only once for a small bottle. However, in the day he will wake himself after 5 mintues if I rock him and put him in the crib. He will sleep maybe 30-45 mintutes twice a day in the swing. So, he is exhausted and cranky by the evening. I have tried a sleep postioner, mobile, rocking extra. Any ideas to get him to sleep in the crib during they day?
Where does your new baby sleep at? Crib, bassinet? MIne does not like his bassinet anymore. He is a month old today. He had been sleeping fine in it until a couple of days ago. Now the only thing it seems that he is comfortable in is his bouncer. If he is a sleep when I put him in the bassinet, he wakes up all mad. I had put an extra blanket in it to make it more softer, but it didn't seem to make a difference. When he is awake he won't even be in there for a few seconds with out throwing a fit. And man, let me tell you, he can really throw a fit. So we got the bouncer this past weekend and ever since we got it, he seems to be more comfortable in it. On the 1st night after we got it, he cried for almost 2 hours before I tried putting him the bouncer to calm him down. And it was like a switch turning off. He quit crying, sat there for a minute or two and fell asleep. He didn't wake up until he got hungry 2 hours later. I fed him and tried to put him back in the bassinet and he got mad again. SO he went back to the bouncer and promptly fell back asleep. So my question is why is he more comfortable in a upright position than laying down? Where does your newborn sleep at? Do they like a bouncer or the bassinet better? Or do they not mind either one? thanks we do have a blanket under his head for a slant position. I thank everyone for their answers We do put him on his side and on his back. the acid reflux thing is something i will ask his doctor next week thanks
How do you get a baby to sleep in his crib? My son is about 10 weeks old (2 weeks adjusted due to being premature) and no matter what I try, he will not sleep in his crib. His swing is fine but takes awhile for him to fall asleep in that, or he can sleep in my arms. I really want him to start sleeping in his crib so I can get some rest. Does anyone have any advice on this?
How long does a baby normally sleep in a crib for? I was just wondering when I would move my child from a crib into a toddler bed? Is it normally a bed with rails or what? Is it once they can start getting up to walk or not? That seems a little early. This is my first child and we've been thinking about having another and was just wondering if I'm going to need to have 2 cribs if my one child isn't old enough to move to a bed by the time the 2nd is born. My first would probably be around 2 years old when the 2nd is born.
How can my wife and I get baby to sleep in the crib? My wife and I do some foster care from time to time. We recently received three brothers into our home, the youngest of which is just one month old (he's been in foster care since birth.) It turns out that he'll sleep for about two hours stretches at night *if* he's beeing held (i.e. cuddled on the couch, recliner, etc.) but once we put him in the crib, he's only good for about 10-15 minutes. Any suggestions as to what we can do to get him to sleep in the crib and for longer stretches of time? (BTW, he take much bottle at one time either. We find that as soon as we stick the bottle in his mouth, he gets drowsy or goes right to sleep. He'll usually only take an ounce or two at one time... this might explain the short sleep intervals, but we're not sure how to get more down him. Besides we suspect that being so little... an ounce might be all he's got room for anyway.) Survey says... Swaddle! Here is a tally of top suggestions to date: Swaddle: 13 Music/Noise: 8 Cry it Out: 7 Prop Pillows: 7 Pacifier: 5 Bath: 5 Sleep Together: 3 Noise Plush: 3 Car Seat: 3 Movement: 3 Drowsy: 3 Light: 2 Last night, we swaddled the baby, and he had two 2.5 hour stretches in his crib, each following a 2 oz feeding. Then he slept for another hour there, and finished the early morning hour in his car seat. My wife and I are trading off "night shift duty", so we'll each at least get a good night of sleep every other night. (We can afford to do this, since breastfeeding is obviously not an option.) As long as he can continue to give us 2+ hour stints of sleep in the crib, then we should be able to function on this schedule until h Thanks for the many great suggestions... hopefully, we'll find a strategy that works for the little man. There were sooo many great responses to this question, that I'm unable to pick just one. I'm going to have to open it up to vote, and see who comes out on top. Thanks for the awesome suggestions!
What is the best way to get your baby to sleep in its crib? My daughter is 8 months old and has been sleeping in our bed. She cries every time we try to put her in her crib. I have heard it is bad to ignore a baby when they crie. Thats what she does when she is in here cribe. Help please?
Training a VERY stubborn baby to sleep in his crib? Can it be done? My son turns one years old in a week, and now I'm going to try to buckle down on getting him to sleep in his crib. The thing is that he is so stubborn. Last time I tried, he just cried for an hour straight. An entire hour straight. He'd take breaks with his crying and then he'd start back up again once he caught his breath. I don't know what to do.
How do I get my baby to sleep in the crib? hey other mommies out there, could someone please tell me how to get my 4 month old to sleep in his crib, right now he sleeps in bed with me and i don't feel safe with him in there anymore...Please Help???
How do I get my 1 year old baby to sleep in her crib? We have let her cry for 20 minuites but she doesn't let up AT ALL how can i make her like her crib? She will sleep fine in our bed with us. Even if we get her asleep in the crib she waskes up and screams throughout the night.
why won't my baby sleep in her crib during "prime time" AND night weaning Q? Hi everyone! We have an 8 month old baby who sleeps in her crib, next to our bed, during naps, and when we put her down for the night at 8ish. She usually wakes up around 12-1am for a feed, and after that WILL NOT sleep anywhere but sandwiched between us in our double bed. I've tried feeding her and putting her back but she'll just cry and cry and cry. I've tried letting her cry it out (The Ferber method is what worked with getting her to learn to put herself to sleep for naps etc) but it'll just continue for over 30mins and my husband ends up sleeping on the sofa... so I bring her back in and she's asleep within 5minutes until we all wake up around 6 or 7. I wouldn't mind if we had a bigger bed, but my arm ends up falling asleep and waking me up throughout this patch and I'm not getting as much sleep as my baby and husband. Any ideas for getting her to sleep in her crib, or reasons why she won't sleep in it ONLY during the most important part of the night? Thanks so much. (I was thinking maybe if she was night weaned, she'd just fall asleep and stay in the crib until morning? Thoughts on that, and night weaning tips welcome as well! She usually only drinks a couple mouthfuls and falls back asleep so I think she could last the night without a feed....)
how can i get my baby to sleep in his crib? My baby ( 1 month ) hates to sleep in his crib, he will fall asleep, ill put him in the crib and 10-30mins later he is awake. He will only sleep in his swing. any suggestions on how i can get him to sleep in his crib?
Which is best for baby, sleeping in a crib or a bassinet next to your bed? I'm having my first baby in December and I wonder which is best when you get home from the hospital. Should baby sleep in her nursery or in a bassinet/pack and play next to me in bed?
Is it bad to comfort my baby to sleep? I am trying to get my baby to sleep in the crib. Well I was finally successful tonight but I had to pat her back until she fell asleep. Is this bad that I helped her to sleep like this? or am I suppossed to just leave her to cry herself to sleep (which is almost impossible for me to do that to her)?
How do I get my baby to sleep in his crib?? He is 10 months &3 weeks old. He has never slept in his crib. I have placed him in his crib everyday and he flips out like he is being murdered. He has a horrible bout of Acid Reflux at birth and after a few near choking episodes his ped recommened sitting him up in a swing or sleep in a recliner with him and hold him upright. I did this and it was the stupidist thing I ever did. I was scared for him so I didnt use common sense. The problem is I have been trying now everyday for about 8 months to get him to sleep in his crib, but he screams for ever until I pick him up. I have let him get drowsy and put him in and he screams, I have rocked him to sleep and put him in, the instant I go to set him in the crib he screams. The doctor said to let him cry. I started with 10 minutes and then 15, then 30 minutes. He screams the whole time. The doctor said just sit next to his crib until he gives up, after about 2 hours, I called the ped and he said to let him cry until he gives up. but at this point I am edgy and wanting nothing more than to rip someones head off. I have a 4 year old that needs attention to, so I cannot just sit with him for hours on end and comfort him. He has separation anxiety also, (thats what the doctor calls it) But he absolutley will not relax in his crib, its like someone has tortured him and he is terrified. I am getting flack from friends and family about him sleeping in my bed. I was up until 2 Am and tryed for about a month to get him to sleep in his crib at night. Alls this did was make him crazy during the day and my 4 year old kept walking into things because he didnt get enough sleep. Does anyone have any suggestions to get this little booger to relax and feel confortable sleeping in his crib??? I will try anything at this point. He just gets worse as he gets older and I would like my bed back. I love him so much I just want him to be independent at sleep time. Am I terrible? Please helpful suggestions! Erin B... Giving in...? 2 hours of screaming? how am I giving in... What should I do just let him scream all day... That to me seems negligent. So everyone tells he I need to stop giving in, so what should I do, any tips? He is right now been crying for 1 hour and 18 minutes and I have lulliby music playing and I keep telling him it will be alright and kiss him... he is screaming as loud as when I placed him in there... How long it to long? USA Girl.. I dont beleive in patting or spanking a baby he is to young and he will not understand the concept of punishment at his age. I correct him when he is actually doing something wrong with a firm no, but I dont believe in 'patting a baby' sorry..
how do you get baby to sleep in the crib? she is almost 9 months old and has started to crawl so she can't sleep with us anymore. how do we get her to sleep in the crib without 'crying it out'?
How do I get my 19 month old to sleep in a crib? Our 19 m/o boy has been co-sleeping with us at mommy's request, it's hard for her to let go and both she and the baby are having problems with the whole crib idea. Besides all the issues that the baby's mother has this question is more about how to get the baby sleeping in his crib if all he's ever known is sleeping in bed with us.

how can i get my baby to sleep in his own bed?!? when he was brought home from the hospital he slept fine in his crib. then at 3 months he was reallllll sick so i had him sleep with me because i felt safer and i could hear him breathing closer and was RIGHT there with him. well he is 7 months now and STILL sleeps with me and my husband! i loveee sleeping with him cuz he's like my lil teddy bear <3 and also i don't feel right sleeping without him. anyway we put away his crib (its a mini crib and was getting too small) and instead put up his playpen. he stays in there to drink his bottle or when im cleaning/cooking and what not. but i really want him to start sleeping by himself :/ any advice??? (i know it was a bad move on letting him sleep with us in the first place but i've learned my lesson...) wtf people seriously im not a bad parent because i let him sleep with me, many people do this. plus it makes the baby feel more loved and secure. if you have nothing good to say or no ACTUAL advice just keep your trap shut! thank you.
Getting baby to sleep in his crib? I am having a horrible time getting my son to sleep in his crib at night. He is 10 months old and has slept with us since he stopped sleeping in his pack and play (3 months). I know that we made a huge mistake letting him sleep with us so long, and now he will not sleep in in crib at night at all.I try to put him to sleep when he's drowsy and he startles up as soon as I lay him down. I've tried letting him cry, but after 30 minutes of screaming, I give in. The strange thing is that he will sleep in his crib for short naps during the day, but not at night. I don't know what else to do! He's getting too big for our bed, not to mention the obvious lack of romance for my husband and I by having a 22lb infant between us. Any suggestions??
Getting baby to go to sleep on her own? My daughter is 7 months old and I have always bounced her to sleep on my exercise ball. Mistake on my part I know, now she wont go to bed on her own. She has started crawling now too so even if she is dead asleep once she is on the crib mattress she wakes up and starts crawling in her crib. I have searched for books on baby sleep but am not sure what is best. I don't think I can do the "cry it out" method, any suggestions?
How can i get my baby to sleep somewhere else besides in my arms? I have a 8 week old baby boy who will only fall asleep in my arms, however i dont ever have any time throught the day to get anything done. I have tried almost everything from a bouncy, swing, sling, bassinet, stroller walks, cars rides, and his crib. About the time i actually get him to sleep and put down he's up again within the next 10-15 min. My husband says that this is my fault and that i hold him to much throught the day, but i dont know what else to do he is'nt happy unless he's in my arms! I have been told by many people at about 2-3 months is when you should let them cry it out, but i dont feel comfortable leaving him to cry. Im open to any suggestions....
Tips to get baby to sleep in crib? Need to get our 4 month old to sleep in her crib. Currently, she sleeps in our bed with us. Any suggestions?
How do you get a baby to sleep in her crib? If i'm carrying her around or if she is on my lap or chest she can sleep like crazy, but within 10 minutes of lying her down she wakes up and cries. She is losing sleep because I cant hold her constantly, and she is up and awake and cranky when she should be sleeping. She is 3 weeks old.
when did you start letting your baby sleep in it own room? my baby girl will be 4 month old on the 17th "april" and i wondering when would be a good time to get her used to her crib so that she can be in her own room, my husband is deployed but will be back home when she 8 month old and i like to get her in her room i have baby monitors all in the house i have one in her room and one in my room, so when did you start getting your baby used to sleeping in his/her room
Is it safe to have a toddler and our new baby sleep in the same room? We only have two bedrooms. My daughter is currently 25 months old and I just found out I'm pregnant with child #2 (Yay!). We will be switching my daughter over to the daybed in that room. I worry (and wonder how others have dealt with) have a baby in a crib in the same room as a toddler. Is there any safety contraptions that could keep her from getting to the new born?
how do i get my baby to sleep in his crib? My son is about two and a half months old and i can not get him to sleep in his crib. he hates it! he currently sleeps in a carseat like toy that glides him back and forth till he falls asleep. lately i've been keeping it off to get him used to falling asleep without movement but it still doesn't help with the crib situation. he'll just cry and scream as soon as i place him into it. what do i do?? any advice would be great!
How can I get my new baby to sleep in her crib or bassinet? The problem is that she likes to be in her car seat, however, she gets to warm and her neck rashes up. If i swaddle her she just fusses until her arms are free and will not go to sleep. She really likes to sleep in a sitting position. I dont know if it is causing the gassiness she has as well?
How do I get my 3 month old baby to sleep in his crib for more than 15 minutes? As soon as I put him in his crib, he cries. He only sleeps for more than an hour, if he feels my body next to him.
When did you start putting the baby in her crib to sleep? I have 2 month old twin girls and am wondering when i should start trying to get them to sleep in their own crib. How did everyone else sleep when their babies were that old? right now they fall asleep on there boppy pillows. then we move them into the co sleeper that is in our room. they sleep during the day, but they stay up at night. then they make all kinds of weird sounds. the second half of the night they sleep with us.
How can i teach my 8 month old baby to sleep in his crib? my baby has slept in my bed and his bassinet since he was born but he's gotten too big and i just bought him his crib and mattress but every time i place him in his crib he starts crying and stands up. he never stays down or lays down. he will not even play in there during the day and when i lay him down after he's fallen asleep he wakes up instantly and cries hard.
Any tips to getting my 4-month old baby to sleep in her crib? My baby just turned 4 months and takes her naps in the swing (3 naps a day - 2 which are 2.5-3 hours and 1 that is usually 1 hour) and sleeps in her bassinet in our room at night. She goes to sleep around 8:30-9pm and wakes up 2-3am for a feeding and then wakes up again 7:30-8am for the day. We plan to switch her to her crib for all naps and sleeping and want to know what we should and shouldn't do. She gets very cranky if she doesn't get her long naps so I'm nervous she won't sleep long in her crib. When I've tried it before she's only slept 45 minutes and then not happy until I put her in her swing and let her finish sleeping. At night she is swaddled and for all naps and bedtime she goes to sleep with a pacifier - another issue since she gets up a lot when she loses it but that's for another time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Is it too late to train my baby to sleep in his crib at 8 months? my baby has slept in my bed and his bassinet since he was born but he's gotten too big and i just bought him his crib and mattress but every time i place him in his crib he starts crying and stands up. he never stays down or lays down. he will not even play in there during the day and when i lay him down after he's fallen asleep he wakes up instantly and cries hard.
How can I get baby to sleep in his crib? I'm definitely one of those parents who love to have the baby close by... Oh, I know! So he sleeps with us almost everynight...why not? he's so cuddly and comfy and warm. BUT now he's almost 9 months, and I feel he would be more comfortable in his own bed. we just moved into a new place, and his crib is in his own room. Whats an easy way to transition him without making me feel bad for him sleeping there all alone in this big room? The baby monitor is a reassuring key, but i need an extra boost.
need advice w/ getting baby to sleep in his crib, please? my son is almost 7 months old, and he's slept in my bed since he was born pretty much. he slept in the bassinet part of his pack 'n play for a short while until he grew out of it. he's exclusively BF so sleeping w/ me was always easiest. but now that he can roll over & lunge forward (no crawling yet though), i would feel better if he would sleep safely in his crib. i use bed rails but one day he woke up from a nap & was quietly playing (so i never heard him wake up), and i just happened to check on him & he was roaming around the bed! i'd hate for him to fall off the bed and get hurt, or worse :( the problem is, getting him to physically go to sleep in his crib is near impossible. sometimes i put him in there but he's already asleep, usually. the other night i tried CIO, but didn't hang in there long.. i lasted maybe 20-30 min. lol. did anyone go through this, and what did you do? co-sleeping really isn't an option anymore, and i figured the sooner the better, so any advice on how to get my LO accustomed to sleeping in his own bed would be greatly appreciated -- i'm desperate!
How do you get your baby to sleep through the night in his own crib? My baby is seven months old, and his dad and I are ready to get him out of our bed and into the crib! He wants to nurse continuously through the night and none of us are getting enough sleep. What has worked for you?
how do i get my 10 day old baby to sleep in her crib? she has been sleeping with me some nights..only to make it easier for me to breastfeed her since my c-section. now i want her to sleep in her crib!
How can I get my 5 month old baby to sleep in his crib? Since he was 3 months, he's waken up more an more in his crib (every 1-2 hours). Lately, we've resorted to having him in bed with us. He falls asleep easily when beside us but never on his own without being rocked. Also, for those of you who will say that it's okay to have him in bed with us - when do children usually grow out of this? I've tried white noise.
Any tips on getting baby to sleep in own crib? I have a 2 month old and a 16 month old. From day one with the baby I have let him sleep in bed with me becasue I was so exhausted at night that I never put the time into getting him to sleep then putting him in the cosleeper. Now when I try to put him in the cosleeper he stays wide awake. Also during the day he has a hard time falling asleep unless hes in the moby wrap or carseat, and I think its becasue hes so used to me being right next to him. Please Help with any suggestions on getting him to sleep in his own cosleeper. Thank you!
Someone told me to get my baby to sleep in her crib to give her her bottle in her crib-would you? I've told myself never to do that but I've also told myself never to co sleep and we do. I would for sure check on her and take it out once she was asleep. She is 10 1/2 months old.
How can I get my baby to sleep in her crib? I have a hard time letting her 'cry it out' and when I have tried. she has cried for over an hour. That's as much as I could stand. I have been sleeping with her since she was born since I was, and still am, nursing. This worked PERFECTLY with my first baby and when she was my baby's age (11 months) she was sleeping almost the entire night alone in her crib. She was great about taking 2 long naps a day, everyday, in her crib. too. So I thought this sleeping arrangement would work out again. WRONG. She will not sleep by herself even though the babysitter (all day 5 days a week) has no problem at all getting her to take a nap in the packnplay. I have tried a pacifier, rocking her, stroking her back, etc. but she just stands there gripping onto the bars of the crib SCREAMING. HELP! This is not good for her, for her sister, for me, for my ailing marriage. But I am often just too tired to fight at the end of the day not to mention the crying keeps her big sister up. HELP!!!
Getting baby to sleep in her crib? I took my daughter to the doctor yesterday, and they told me that letting her fall asleep in her carseat and moving her to the crib was a horrible idea and that I had to put her to bed in her crib. The problem is she's 11 months old and used to falling asleep in her carseat. They gave me paperwork on how to come in, comfort her, and leave the room...but rubbing her back and all that doesn't work because she stands up and holds onto the crib rails. She doesn't lie down anymore, and she screams to the point of breathlessness. Did anyone have a problem like this with an older baby? What methods worked for you? I'm so afraid that by letting her fall asleep in the carrier, I've done something really wrong. Please help!
And ideas on how to get my baby to sleep in his crib and not his bouncer? My 3 month old will not sleep in his crib. The only way we can get him to sleep is if we put his bouncer in his crib. We really don't want him sleeping in his boucer so any ideas would be great!!
Getting infant to sleep in his crib ? My 4 month old baby's pediatrician suggested using a transitional object to get the baby to sleep in his crib. This is an object he'll associate with sleep, which he'll use to sooth himself back to sleep when he wakes up throughout the night. Examples she gave are: a sound machine that the baby controls, a blanket, a stuffed animal, or a toy that lights up when touched. What transitional objects have worked for you?
how to learn a baby to sleep in his own crib? My son is 7 months old. He was sleeping 5-6 hours during the night but recently he started waking up hungry so i had to nurse him and i was taking him in the bed with us and i was falling asleep and didnt move him back to his crib.He got used to sleep with me. My husband is sleeping on the sofa with weeks. I am scared about that situation. Do you have any advices for me?
How do I get my baby to sleep in his crib? My son is 4 1/2 months old. He co-sleeps with me but I am wanting him to sleep in his own crib now. If he falls asleep and I lay him in his crib he will wake up or if he stays asleep it wont last long. How can I get him to sleep in his crib the way he sleeps in my bed with me?
My baby is three weeks old and I can not get him to sleep in his crib. He freaks out anytime you lay him down.? He'll sleep in a bouncer or a swing or in my arms, what should I do? Let him cry it out?
How do I get my baby to sleep through the night in his crib? Usually he falls asleep in his crib, half way through the night he wakes up crying (not hungry) and we bring him to our bed and he falls back asleep instantly. Some nights he sleeps in our bed the whole night. How do I break this habit?
Is the mobile on the babies crib intended to sing the baby to sleep? When I turn the mobil on my son gets excited. He kicks his feet up and smiles. Definately not a good way to try and soothe him to sleep.
getting baby to sleep at night?.... beginning to get frustrated? I have a 17 month old son and for a while he was going to bed great sometimes even coming to us with his blanket and looking at us pointing and we would follow and give him a bum change and put his pjs on and he would go right to bed and when it wasn't his idea he still went then we took a trip to see my bro in law and everything went down hill he was nervous about the house and new surroundings and wouldn't go to sleep without snuggling and that was in april now we have to let him cry it out in order to get him to fall asleep in his crib otherwise we have to hold him or let him go to sleep on his fold out couch in the living room most of the time he makes it cuddling because otherwise he protests to being layed down I cant put him in his bed and lay next to him and he wont lay next to me anywhere cause he demands to be held sitting up otherwise there is a lot of squirming and crying and trying to get off the bed or couch or watever we try and there is no soothing him I cant let him cry it out cause every single time he crys too hard he vomits the only thing i can do is hold him sitting up ... He sleeps through the night just fine once he is asleep to begin with but i just don't know how to get him to sleep on his own unless i let him cry it out. we just barely did it and within 30 seconds litterally he threw up and my husband called it all my fault because despite him being the one to put him in bed and him being the first out the door to the bedroom i had suggested it and so there fore it is my fault! every single time that we are both home at night and this happens hubby gets mad at me as if i have the cosmic power to make my child vomit and i just don't know what to do anymore it is 10 at night and we have been trying to get my son to sit still since 8 and he just keeps getting almost there then getting up and playing. and we lay him down and he is right back up we put him on our laps he gets up and down up and down. HELP!!! oh ya the trip to my bro in laws was only 5 days I cant like i said he gets too upset and throws up
Our baby will sleep in his crib every night from 10ish to? 3:30ish but that is it! He is tired once he's done feeding but will not go back to sleep. It is hard to only sleep 4.5 hours a night and be up with him the next day! If we let him nap or don't let him nap during the day it is the same thing. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make it easier for him to back in his crib after his early morning feeding? We make sure when he does feed that lights are dim, etc. to give him the feeling that it's not time to get up but he just won't go back to sleep - even though he wants to. Help! He is 2 and a half months old. The problem is he has no set time for his naps, he MIGHT take one in the day if we are lucky but most time he does not for more than 20 minutes...when he wakes at 4ish he goes through the same routine he does when he goes to sleep at 10. He nurses and falls asleep but then wakes up!
moving my baby to her crib? So I made the mistake of letting my baby sleep in the bed with me the first 2 weeks. Now, every time she gets laid in her bassinet or crib, she instantly wakes up and cries. I put her next to me, and she sleeps just fine. I've tried putting her down slowly and putting a shirt in there that smells like me. Nothing works. Any advice on getting her into her own bed. I don't want to co-sleep and that was never my intention. I was recovering from a cesarean and it was easier letting her sleep with me than getting up to get her. Now I'm regretting it cause I want to be able to sleep good again...and to cuddle with my hubby...so ....anything that worked for ya'll would be great. I'm willing to try almost anything...but no crying it out...I can't do that...oh, and my baby is 3 1/2 weeks old.
When did you allow your baby to sleep in his/her own crib? My baby girl is going to be 3 months next week. I still have her sleeping in a playpen next to my bed. She has her own room and I've tried to let her sleep in her room by herself, but I get worried and bring back into my room to sleep with me. Just wondering what was the average age that you were able to make the big change.
What techniques are there that work for getting a baby to sleep on their back? Our baby sleeps fine on her stomach or side, but will rarely fall asleep while on her back. I'd be fine if she slept even for an hour or two on her back, but she just fusses and grunts and makes the occasional choking sound. We put her on her stomach a couple times and she slept fine. Generally she sleeps fine in her car seat as well, but when we put her in the crib, on her back she won't settle. Every SIDS site says you have to make sure to get the kid to sleep on their back, not on their side, not on their stomach. So, i'm wondering if there are techniques people have used to get the baby to sleep on their back.
How do I get my baby to sleep in her crib instead of in bed with me? I have to put her in bed with me at night so she will fall asleep and stay asleep. Sometimes I can't even move her into her crib after she falls asleep. I need some suggestions on what I should try. She also has only slept through the night 5 times and is almost a year old.
baby wont sleep in crib or bassinet?? my baby is 3 weeks old she wont sleep in either only in the bed with us. When I lay her in the crib she always wakes up soon and I cant get stuff done. She has a bouncer she falls asleep in it but wakes up shortly after has anyone else had this happen what helps??
How do I get my baby to sleep in her room in the crib? My daughter is 8 months old and will not sleep in her room. She will wake up every hour or so through the night. She is still sleeping in my room, and only wakes up once or twice a night there. Any tips??
How can I get my eight month old baby to sleep in her crib? I have tried walking her, rocking her, feeding her, leaving her to cry, singing to her, putting her down half asleep, putting her down fully asleep, and all she does is scream. The neighbors hear her and think that I am abusing her. (which I am NOT) I get very little sleep and have a constant headache. There are no medical reasons for this.
How to get baby to sleep in crib for more than an hour? This is an involved question, so thank you for your ideas but please read the whole thing before you respond. My little 3 month old angel (.....), I do love him so much, but the little guy will not sleep for any extended period of time, day or night, unless he is right next to me with my nipple in his mouth. I moved out of my bedroom because my husband is so afraid of cosleeping that he will not sleep a wink while the baby is in the bed. I have to agree with him. I do it, but with great reservations. I as well find it very uncomfortable. I would prefer to end this. My mother told me I should have let him cry it out when he was younger,. I thought it was too cruel, but now that he is almost 4 months old I think we have enough of a bond that he should be able to transition into his crib (and that I can finally get a decent sleep with my husband again.) During the day, I have been swaddling him during nap time and putting him into his swing. He will sleep for an hour or so, then wake up. At night, I started four days ago to nurse him, get him comfortable, then put him drowsy into his crib (making sure he is dry and burped). He cried for an hour on the first day and when he did go to sleep, he woke up an hour later. I reverted to cosleeping. The next night he cried for 30 minutes, slept for 30, than I reverted again lol. Last night He had the same pattern. I had to continually let him cry himself to sleep throughout the night until 4 am when I couldn't handle it anymore and I went back to co sleeping. Now this morning we got up and he usually goes down for a nap at 10am. I put him in the crib. He cried until 12:30, when I picked him up, fed him, changed him, than set him down again and he has been crying ever since (it is now 3 pm). My question is, for those of you trying this cry it out method, have you had these problems? Should I keep with it, and if yes do you have any tips? When he is crying, I check on him every ten munutes (I pat him and shhhh him). Should I extend or shorten this? And should I continue letting him do this mutliple times a night because he wakes up almost every hour? I do not care about him sleeping through the night..I would be content with just 3 hour intervals. Thanks in advance.. I have read that you can start doing this at 4 months, because after 6 months it gets more difficult. But I will check with his ped to make sure. Thank you for the advice. He does not take pacifiers :( I am going to buy that suggested crib rocker. That is a great idea thank you! I know there are people out there who are not for the crying it out method, and I am happy that you have found a way to get on just fine without doing it. I would rather, though, let my baby cry for a week, getting used to sleeping on his own, than risk him getting smothered by me or dieing of SIDS. I wake up at times with him next to me, his head covered with my blankets!! It is so scary.
How do I get baby to sleep in crib and is it ok for her to sleep on boppy pillow? My six week old baby has slept in bed with us since day one. I have this double pregnancy pillow that comes apart into two huge boppy pillows. We've always swaddled her and propped her up on one of them. She never rolls or turns her head so I'm not worried about her suffocating on it. However, now we want to start teaching her to sleep in her own crib. How do we get her to do this? And what about the pillow? Is it ok to put it in the crib with her? (the crib will be right by my bed because I wake up every thirty minutes to check on her and don't want to have to get up) If not then how do I get her to go to sleep? Everytime I've tried to put her down anywhere other than that pillow she just wakes right up. I'm not ready to teach her to put herself to sleep either. Also, what do I do about the swaddling? If I put her to sleep without being swaddled eventually she'll jerk her arms and wake herself up. But I don't want to be swaddling a 9 month old baby either... Any advice?
Any advise on how to get my 12mo baby boy to sleep in his crib?? ok, yes i know i'll admit it, i screwed up and co-slept with him... i nursed him until he was 10 months, then we went to bottles... now im ready for my bed back... any suggestions on how to get him to sleep in his own crib. Even now getting him to sleep is a struggle... any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Getting baby to sleep in his cradle? My baby is one month old. My other son is 16 months old. My 16 month old co-slept with me until he was about 8 months old, when he became very mobile and I was scared he'd crawl off the bed while I was sleeping. He had to problem adjusting to his crib because he slept in his cradle if we were downstairs at nap time and in his crib in his room if we were upstairs or if company was over at nap time. My current living situation doesn't exactly allow for my new son to sleep with me. We're temporarily living with my parents, and while my oldest son has his crib, he requires to sleep alone in the room, or else he doesn't go back to sleep when he does wake up at night. I am sleeping in the living room on the couch, and my youngest son is refusing to sleep in his cradle. He either wants me to hold him all through the night, or sleep in his car seat. I don't want him sleeping in his car seat, bouncy chair, etc., but I can't sit up and sleep at the same time, either. Anyone have any tips?

7 week old baby won't sleep in crib...? For the past week it's been very difficult to get my baby to sleep in her crib. She can be in a dead sleep and after we put her down in her crib she wakes up within 20 minutes. Sometimes she'll wake up only 1 or 2 minutes after closing the door, but once we pick her up she's out again. How do I get her to sleep alone. This was never an issue before, and we never used a bassinet just the crib. I've tried holding her for 20 or 30 minutes after she falls asleep to make sure she's totally asleep, putting her in a swing for a while, and I've tried playing whitenoise in her room, but that wakes her up faster. I'm tired of sleeping on the couch. Any help is appreciated. We did the swaddling for the first 3 weeks and then at week 4 she hated it! All of a sudden she doesn't want to be like that and will fight her way out of it. And she usually sleeps through the night (11pm to 4 or 5 am) with no problem. I'll have to try the scent thing again and see if that'll calm her down.
