Sleeping baby on somach as baby won't sleep on his back? My baby is 7 months old and we use a sound/movement baby monitor but he will NOT sleep on his back anymore and always rolls onto his side or his stomach and sleep with his knees bent inwards. I have tried retraining him on his back with those special sheets but he screams and screams and I just cave in. How bad is it that he will not sleep on his back, should I worried?

As of now my husband and I brought our mattress top out in the living room and we all sleep in the bed ( i put maddison on my side in her baby wedge so she doesn't roll over and for some reason she sleeps that way. She just has to be close to us. I don't know what to do. I don't know how long I can sleep in my living room... how do i get her to like her bassinet? its as if the mattress is too hard or something I feel like im a horrible mom... like i can't do this or something.. Baby Won't Sleep Need Suggestions? Help, My wife and I have tried everything. Read books, looked online, natural remedies and nothing will work. Our 11 month old baby sleeps only 30 minutes a day with the nanny and at night it is a struggle to put her sleep. When she finally falls asleep at 10pm (started trying at 8pm) she will only sleep a couple of hours and wake up through out the night. She will usually end up in our bed and not in her crib/ room, Any suggestions? Please help.
The baby won't sleep anywhere else...? Everyone says don't let the baby sleep with you in the bed but if I don't let him sleep w/ us, then we won't get any sleep and he will cry all night. We have tried him in his bassinet by the bed, he cries and cries until we hold him. We have tried to put him in his crib, the same thing happens. He is only 4wks old and I went out and bought a co-sleeper for our bed to make it safe and he'll sleep in that but still cries b/c he's not up under one of us. I don't know what to do or how long this will last but I know I want my bed back eventually..any suggestions? In my bed=baby is happy, I am uncomfortable In his bed=baby is unhappy, I dont' sleep...lol
My baby won't sleep at night, need advice? Our 1 month old baby does not sleep hardly at all at night. He'll sleep almost all afternoon, but then starting around midnight he is wide awake. If we get him to fall asleep in our arms, as soon as we put him in his crib he'll start stirring and his eyes will pop back open. This is an ongoing thing every night about every 45 minutes to an hour. It is completely killing us because we get absolutely no more than about 3 hours of sleep on any given night. Why can't we get our baby to sleep at the proper time? It's like his days and nights are completely backwards!
My 5 1/2 mo baby won't sleep through the night? We give her a bath every night, massage her with baby lotion, cuddle with her, and give her a bottle. She hardly ever finishes the bottle she probably drinks 2 ounces before she goes to bed. She is a very good baby but she still can't sleep through the night. She wakes up at midnight and 3am for her bottle. Again she doesn't eat that much, she just sucks and the doses off. I tried just giving her the pacifier but she doesn't want it, she wants the milk. I hear from a lot of people and friends that their baby sleeps through the night. But for some reason mine doesn't. We have the same routine, am I doing something wrong. She's always slept in her crib and that's never been problem. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
My baby won't sleep on his back, should I try letting him sleep on his stomach? I know you're "not supposed to" because of the risk of SIDS but I hear different sides. Some say they let their babies sleep on their tummy and everything was fine. Any advice or has anyone tried this and had a bad experience? I have heard don't do it but I have not heard any bad instances where I feel I shouldn't. I'm worried and want to know all possible things that could happen before I try it. Its not seeming so bad to me though at the moment.
My ten month old baby won't sleep through the night!!!? My 10 month old daughter has been a great baby, sleeping through the night, etc, until now, it is now a complete struggle getting her to take a nap at all during the day and when i put her to bed at night she more often than not screams, if she does finally nod off she wakes every few hours resulting in being up literally all night and then drinking 2 bottles!!!!! I'm desperate, please help!!!! She is eating same as normal, is she maybe teething, hungry or just in a bad habit now? Thanks xx And she also has 8 teeth already, could more be coming in at back?
How are you supposed to sleep when the baby sleeps, if the baby won't sleep? My daughter is now 3 days old and we've only really had one good night with her so far. And that was because I fed her and then let her sleep on me for about three hours. Then the nurses took her to do some tests so they were gone for several hours and when they brought her back she was still passed out and she slept even a while longer. But now here it is 5:00 am and I've been awake since 10:30 p.m. with her. I went to bed at 9:30 right after I put her down in her bassinet so I've only slept an hour. Every time she wakes up she starts rooting so I feed her and she passes out after about 15 or 20 minutes. So I lay her back down and after 5 or 10 minutes, she's awake again. I'm on the verge of crying at this point. I had to have a c-section and the up and down is not helping me heal very well at all. My husband does what he can, but since I'm breastfeeding there is only so much he can do. I'm a first time mom so I have no idea what else to do. I tried going to sleep again with her on me and that didn't work. Any suggestions as to what is wrong or what I can do to get my child to sleep. I've been feeding her all night so I know she's not hungry.
HELP! My baby won't sleep in his crib anymore! My husband, 1 yr old son, and I just got back from a 2 week vacation. While we were gone the baby was sleeping in bed with me and my husband. Since we've been back (Sat night), the baby refuses to go into his crib to sleep. He won't nap or anything without me holding him. (He wasn't like this before) On Saturday night, I thought it would be best to let him "cry it out" and he actually climbed out of his crib and fell on the floor! My husband turned his crib into the toddler bed, but I still think he's too young to be in a toddler bed. (He just turned one on July, 26) So, now what do we do? How do we get him to go to bed and take naps like he did before our vacation?

My 10 week old baby won't sleep day time. What should I do to entertain her? My baby is 10 weeks old and only takes like 2 fifteen minute naps here and there during day time. Usually I change diapers and feed her every 2-3 hours or so. Sometimes during those 2-3 hours she all of a sudden became cranky and scream for nothing. What should I do to keep her entertain? I tried to rock her, put her in swing, sing to her. But does that mean I have to spend my whole day doing the same thing over and over again?

When she is put down, she wakes up within minutes and starts crying until someone picks her back up. She only does this during the day though. During the night she will sleep in her crib just fine. Is she spoiled already? What can I do to change this? I've tried putting her in her bouncer, but it doesn't work. What should I do?

Baby won't sleep in crib, help? My baby usually sleeps through the night in his crib. Well for the past 3 nights he wakes up just about every hour crying in his crib. When I move him to my bed he sleeps right away. But I don't want him to sleep with me! What can I do to make him sleep in his crib and stop waking up so often? Should I let him cry until he falls back asleep? I know to make sure he's fed and all that. What can I do? He is 8 months.
My 1 week old baby won't sleep during the night!? She sleeps all throughout the day and stays up almost all night long. Since her nursery isn't quite finished, she sleeps in my me and my fiance's bedroom so it's driving us insane! Is there anything I can do to get her to sleep better?
My baby won't sleep at all please help me!? As you know I had a baby about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I am home with her now and she won't sleep at all. During the day she wants to either sleep or eat, but at night she wants to scream and eat. I just don't get it! Please help me out and give me some advice! my 5 old week old baby won't sleep at night? i have a 5 weeks old baby girl, she is cute as cute can be and i love her like i have never loved before. My baby girl won't sleep at night she cries all night starting at midnight till 5:30 in the morning. what can i do so she is not so fussy, is there something i can give her or do to sooth her or making it more relaxing for her.
The baby won't eat, sleep, or play? So right now, it's just my mom and I at home. And usually, my dad can rock the baby to sleep easily, but right now, we can't get my baby brother of 4 months to go to sleep, eat, or get him into a good mood to play. What are we doing wrong? He seems extremely fussy right now too, and we've changed his diaper.
7-month old baby won't sleep? Our son has never been a good sleeper and I used to breastfeed him to sleep but gradually broke the habit using techniques from 'the no-cry sleep solution'. At four months he started doing 7-8 hour stints at night and taking two 1.5-2 hour naps during the day. However, we then went on a trip to the US and while there he slept with me (breastfed).Since we got back 2.5months ago the longest stretch he has slept is 3 hours. He is up between 5-10 times a night and isn't napping more than twice a day (half-hour). He is cranky and irritable and has big bags under his eyes. I can't bear to let him cry-it-out, I just can't do it. Although the no-cry sleep solution worked when he was younger it's not workingnow. Also, my husband has to put him to sleep now(after I have fed him) as I have acute tendonitis and have been told that if I lift him for the next six weeks then I could do permanent damage and not be able to lift him at all.Has anyone managed to get their baby to sleep without cry-it-out
7 week old baby won't sleep in crib...? For the past week it's been very difficult to get my baby to sleep in her crib. She can be in a dead sleep and after we put her down in her crib she wakes up within 20 minutes. Sometimes she'll wake up only 1 or 2 minutes after closing the door, but once we pick her up she's out again. How do I get her to sleep alone. This was never an issue before, and we never used a bassinet just the crib. I've tried holding her for 20 or 30 minutes after she falls asleep to make sure she's totally asleep, putting her in a swing for a while, and I've tried playing whitenoise in her room, but that wakes her up faster. I'm tired of sleeping on the couch. Any help is appreciated. We did the swaddling for the first 3 weeks and then at week 4 she hated it! All of a sudden she doesn't want to be like that and will fight her way out of it. And she usually sleeps through the night (11pm to 4 or 5 am) with no problem. I'll have to try the scent thing again and see if that'll calm her down.
My Baby won't go to sleep? My Baby won't go to sleep.my wife can lactate anymore and my baby cant sleep. what can i do to her sleep. thx
My baby won't sleep? Can you help me? I have a 6 month old baby and he doesn't sleep at all. I have asked our pediatrician and she keeps telling me to sleep train him. And I've tried that. But the thing is he doesn't sleep during the day or night. And if he does, it's 15 minutes here and there. Then maybe if I'm lucky he sleeps 45 minutes. Then at night he hardly sleeps at all... I don't understand whats going on? Did/does anyone have this problem and what did you do for it?
How can I get more sleep when my baby is up? My 5 month old is on a regular schedule-up all day and sleeps all night. I work from 5pm to 5am 6, sometimes 7 days a week. When I come home all I want to do is sleep. My baby won't allow it at all. I get 3 to 4 hours of sleep at the most. I want to know how I can get at least 8 hours of straight sleep.
My 51/2 m old baby won't sleep with out her binky!!! Please help? My baby is 5 1/2 m . She won't take binky during day time but at night it a diffrent story. I will put her down at 7: 30 with binky. Starting at after 11 she starts crying because she lost her binky. So I have to go to het room and puting back. That would happen about 10 to 15 times per night. I don't get any sleep at all. I try just to let her cry but then she would go to sleep at all. And I have to be up with her all night. She also still eats about 5 oz an night ? Is she to big for a bottle? Can I just give her some water and not formula at night time.? What should I do about binky?? I would only thinking of trading her night bottle for water bottle . Not all of her formula

Desperate for help.. 15 week old baby boy won't sleep!? I'm going to start at the beginning. My son was the easiest baby up until about 3 weeks ago. About 3 weeks ago, my little guy started getting really gassy, fussy, lost his appetite, and wouldn't sleep. This went on for a week or so before I called his dr. They recommended Enfamil Nutramigen (very expensive for those of you who haven't heard of it) because we had already tried Regular formula, Soy, and Gentlease. The dr told us to give it 2 weeks for him to adjust and it has been exactly 2 weeks. Things were starting to look up for us, but it was a short lived sigh of relief. We are still having to use gas drops after each feeding. Gripe water stopped working. He isn't sleeping. He is extremely sleepy, but just fights his sleep like you wouldn't believe. He just cries his little heart out because he is extremely tired. Nothing works to put him out. We pace the house with him, rock him, let him cry. We thought maybe he was teething so we gave him some tylenol thinking it would ease the pain and he'd sleep, but even that didn't help. Nothing is helping. It's awful. I feel like I'm going to lose my mind. I can say it has helped his gas and he actually eats his whole bottle at every feeding (6 oz every 6 hours and he eats at least 8 oz one of those times. Appx 38 - 40 oz per day). But as far as sleeping, it has done nothing for us. Again, this baby is sleepy, but won't actually go to sleep. When he does go to sleep, he wakes up within 30 minutes still tired and needing rest. I have put a call into his pediatrician, but I wanted to know if any of you had this problem and what you did to help your baby sleep. I'm sorry if this was hard to follow, I'm very tired and desperate for some advice. Oh and we have tried to let him cry it out, but it hasn't worked. He gets more and more upset and then it takes even longer to get him to calm back down. I feel like I'm at a dead end. He won't sleep in the car anymore (he used to) and the music makes him mad. Thanks for trying, though. Jorge - If you don't know what to say, then why put an answer on my question? And if you are insinuating I don't have patience with my child then you are dead wrong. I have yet to lose my patience with him and I continue to love on him, attempt to soothe him, and give him all the attention I can. This isn't a matter of me losing patience, it is a matter of getting my baby the rest he needs. It has nothing to do with me or my needs. Tink and Jordan - I really appreciate the tips, but they have honestly been tried. We have a bedtime routine (bath with johnson's nightime soap and lotion, bottle, snuggle, wrap, and bed). I have yet to break that routine and I won't break that routine because I think breaking it would only make things worse. Is there anyone out there who has been through this? I haven't tried the white noise, but I will definitely give it a go! Thank you so much! Oh, and that shouldn't say every 6 hours, it should be every 5 hours. Sorry. Thank you to everyone who replied. The little guy has a dr appt today. We're going to make sure there are no underlying issues. If not, we'll be letting him cry it out. Thanks again!!
baby won't sleep in bassinet? My 4 week old daughter will sleep so soundly and peacefully when she's in my bed or on my chest, but when I put her in her bassinet she screams and crys and doesn't want to sleep in there. What do I do? Any advice? I usually let her cry it out for 10 mintues and if she doesnt stop I pick her up and try again, but usually she wont stop she only wants to be with me. I know there's no such thing as spoiling a baby at this age but what can I do to get her to sleep in her bassinet so I can sleep in my bed without her being there or on my chest? Her bassinet is right next to me bed in my bedroom so thats not the problem. She's just attached to me and wants to only sleep on me or with me. Someone please help!! she doesnt like to be swaddled. I tried that many times. She screams when her hands/arms are wrapped up.
baby won't sleep in her bassinet? My 2 1/2 week old baby will NOT sleep in her bassinet. She will only sleep while lying on my chest or my husband chest. She did not have this problem until we had to leave her alone in an incubator for 12 hours. We were only allowed to take her out for feedings. Now she cries whenever we put her in her bassinet. Any suggestions on getting her to sleep alone? We've tried swaddling, but it doesn't seem to help.
My baby won't sleep in her pram. I can't leave the house when she needs to take a nap!!? She's been on the EASY routine for 3 solid weeks now, and she's very happy! She plays and naps and eats perfectly well. The only thing is that I can't leave the house when she needs to have a nap because she won't go to sleep in the pram. If she does, it's only for 15-20 mins. Do you have any ideas on how to teach her to sleep there? We're off on holiday in 3 weeks time and well, she won't have a choice but to sleep in the pushchair... just want to make the change it a bit easier on her. Thanks a lot.
My baby won't sleep in her cot.? My baby's 5 mths now. She was ok to sleep in the cot before 3.5mths. After that, she refuses to sleep in her cot. Wakes up within an hr ~3 hrs during nite (she used to sleep thru the nite between 2~3.5mths). As soon as I place her in our bed, she sleeps better. I've tried wrapping her, more blanket to make her cot warmer etc... but not helping.... I'm afraid I'll roll over and squash her (although it's unlikely) and more over she might wake up in the middle of the nite and want some comfort from my breast. My back is hurting from the way I'm giving her comfort.
Help! My baby won't sleep in his crib anymore!? A few weeks ago my 8 month old son came down with a cold and wouldn't sleep well in his crib, so I would bring him to bed with us. Now he won't sleep in his crib at all, except for small naps during the day. When I put him down in his crib at night he will sleep for maybe 10 minutes before waking up. When I pick him up from the crib into my arms, his eyes immediately close and he's back to sleep. He'll sleep on the couch next to me while I watch TV and of course in my bed and sometimes in his car seat. Could he be afraid of the dark? I am looking for any help and/or advice you can give me! Please help! I don't mind having him in bed with me, however, my husband isn't too fond of it and I don't want it to come between us. I am not willing to let him CIO either. I have thought about adding some comfy blankets/pillows in his crib but thought this would be dangerous??
My baby won't sleep!? I've already taken him to the doctor and they think it's tummy problems and told me to stop eating dairy. Well, it hasn't changed anything. He sleeps only maybe 2 hours a day deep sleep. the rest of the day he is feeding, fussing, or trying not to fall asleep. I don't know what to do. It's been a month of 2 or 3 hours of interrupted sleep and I am going out of my mind. He won't let me put him down either. Any help!! My baby does not sleep during the day or night. I thought babies needed lots of sleep. I know he is tired to but he fights it. It;s an endless cycle of diaper change, nurse, fuss, fall asleep for 5 minutes, try to put him down but he wakes up within 5 minutes or so then I change his diaper again, feed him, he fusses, falls asleep..... I have tried a pacifier but he cries even with it in his mouth and spits it out within 10 minutes or so. Hardly enough time to brush my teeth or get a glass of water. I've also tried a swing, with the pacifier, without the pacifier. I've tried walking too but it oly works sometimes and he wakes up teh second the stroller stops.
3 month old baby won't sleep anymore? My 3 month old won't sleep during the day anymore and it's very concerning. I've tried all the tricks I used to use and nothing works for the past few days. He will sleep for 15 mintues and wake up crying. Yesterday he cried him self sick he was so overtired. He's recently had feeding problems and DR changed him to alimentum which has seemed to help but I'm not sure if this may still be related somehow. He's still fine at night. Do baby's sleep less during a growth spurt? any other ideas?
my baby won't sleep on his back, help! We tried putting him to sleep on his back for the first 3 months of his life and he just wouldn't sleep. He and I were both sleep deprived and I ended up biting the bullet and putting him on his tummy even though there is a risk of SIDS. I have a breathing monitor in his crib that goes off if he stops breathing, so I was relying on that. His demeanor has been much better since he's sleeping well on his stomach. However, last night, the monitor went off and we rushed in to wake him up to get him to breathe again. I was extremely terrified and tried putting him to sleep on his back after that, but he refused to sleep. I'm scared and desperate...I don't want to go through that again. Please help!

What to do when traveling and baby won't sleep in pack n play? I have a pack & play and bring it along when my husband and I travel, however, my daughter won't sleep in it. We will try to put her to bed in it, and she will just start to cry and scream, so we always end up sleeping in seperate beds so that the baby can just sleep with me. Well we are going on a short trip in a week and will only have one bed available that my husband and I will sleep in, so there really won't be room for her to sleep with me if she throws a fit again. How can we make her sleep in the pack n play without her crying. We will be in a hotel and dont want to desturb the other guests.
My six month baby won't sleep? My little boy is 6 months. He was sleeping all night a few weeks ago but now he is not sleeping at all. He is waking most of the night. Last night he only did one hour without waking up....Something must have unsettled him but I don't know what. He is full dry and warm. When he is waking i am leaving him for about 5 min to see if he will go back to sleep, I do go to him before he start full blown screaming. That was the advise from the health visitor. Any other ideas????
My baby won't Sleep Help !? Okay so I asked a question a few days ago about my baby's sleep problems and I got a lot of answers that didn't really help, I think I wasn't detailed enough. My son is 18 weeks old, and has never slept through a night. I exclusively breastfeed him and love holding him. But he does not sleep well at all. I try to do a bedtime routine... bath, jammies, swaddle, nurse laying down, rocking the chair and singing lullabies. But no matter how early I start the routine I can't seem to get him to sleep any earlier than 10 or sometimes later. His first stretch of sleep he spends in his playpen bassinet next to my bed, and it always the longest. But sometimes it only lasts for 2 hours before he is up and crying for me. When he wakes up I only unswaddle for a clean diaper if he is wet, and I nurse him lying down in bed with no lights or noise. Sometimes he falls right back to sleep in about 20 minutes but it can also take up to an hour to get him back to sleep. He then wakes up every 20 minutes to 2 hours after that to nurse until his dad gets up for work at 5 am and bring him into bed with me where he'll sleep for about another hour and a half. We then start our day at about 7 or 8 am. Throughout the day he takes short naps, anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour, but usually in my arms. He is always cranky an I'm sure its because he is tired but I can't get him to sleep for any length of time so he can get some rest. The only 2 answers I can seem to get to my problem is either to let him cry himself to sleep or to just deal with it, but neither seem like acceptable solutions to me. I love my son so much and would do anything for him, so please no judge mental responses, I know I am a good mother and no one will convince me otherwise.
My baby won't sleep in her crib? I have a 4 week old daughter. She will not sleep in her crib. I can get her to go to sleep but 5 minutes after I put her in the crib she's crying again and we usually end up sleeping on the couch with me holding her. I haven't slept in my bed since hubby went back to work and it's starting to wear on me. Sometimes when I can get her to sleep I can put her in the bouncer and she'll sleep in there. Should I just let her sleep in that and get a little sleep? Can anyone help me with this situation? Any suggestions are welcome.
19wks old baby won't sleep thru the night? Hello to all parents out there. I'm a first time mom with a 19wk baby and he isn't sleeping thru the night yet. He is still waking up 2-3 time for feeding. Takes about 40oz/day. 4-5oz each feeding. People tell me that I should not get up to feed him. That he should be sleeping thru the night at this age and he should be taking a full 8oz each feeding. I know he should be taking more than 5oz, but he isn't. They tell me not to get up and feed him and let him cry himself out. I can't do it. It breaks my heart to hear/see him cry. Any suggestions/advices other than to let him cry and don't feed him at night? Am I spoiling him? Thanks.
What can I do my five and a half month old baby won't sleep more then two hours a time because of bad wind? My baby has never slept well since day one he is fully breastfed and just started weaning over last couple of weeks as he is a big boy! Just pureed fruit so far. The problems is he can never sleep more then a couple of hours day or night and what wakes him up seems to be the pain he has passing lower wind been to doctor and health visitors and all they ever say is he will grow out of it which they gave been saying for five months now and nothing seems to have changed! Things I have tried are infacol, gripe water, dentinox, coleif, homeopathic remedies, massage even been to an osteopath all with little or no success, when he wakes nursing will send him back to sleep but I don't think he is hungry just for comfort, he simply won't take a dummy so that's not an option! Otherwise a happy baby!! We just all (especially him) need more sleep!! Any advice welcome thanks!
My baby won't sleep on his own...? My son is 9 months old. He is currently teething, but he's a 'good' teether. He has no health concerns. He is breastfed and has co-slept with me and my husband since birth. This is fine overnight as neither of us really has an issue with it. However, naps during the day I am concerned that he will climb/crawl or fall out of bed now that he is more mobile. I would also like to have my mum look after him on occasion where she can put him down to sleep where she doesn't have to take him for a walk to settle him. We tried having the cot 3 sided up against our bed. Once he was asleep for the night I would put him in there. We did that for about 2 weeks. Then we started putting him in the cot for all sleeps after a feed. Sometimes he would be asleep when he went in, sometimes just drowsy. He never cried for more than 25 mins (with me going in and soothing him repeatedly during this time). But it's not working so well during the day naps. I'm not really liking the method and am considering just going back to co-sleeping and letting him feed himself to sleep again. Any suggestions on how I can teach him to settle himself to sleep without him getting hugely upset before I resort to co-sleeping again? Thanks in advance :)
when will my baby sleep more than 4hrs at night? My 3 month old baby's record for sleeping is 4hrs after he's had 6oz of formula, and he wakes up *starving*. The "research" says that a full tummy won't make a baby sleep longer, but I feel like he can't sleep any longer than he does because he gets sooo hungry. I've tried other things to get him to sleep better, but the hunger always wins.
My baby won't stay happy. I need sleep!!! Can I let him cry? He's only 3 1/2 weeks old, I've never let him cry because I feel like he's too young to work the system and just needs to be close sometimes. But now he won't even sleep on me and needs me to be bouncing him and waking with him and I'm about to just pass out :( thank you
2 month old baby won't sleep unless she's held!!!!? I'm at my wits end and I hope someone can help or offer me comfort at the very least. My 2 month old has colic (yay me) and loves to be held all day (which I do in my Beco carrier) and can only fall asleep if she's rocked. Problem is she wakes up instantly when I put her down. It's as though she has an automatic switch that goes off when I put her down. After a few tries, I can finally get her down but she either wakes up 10 minutes later or I'll be lucky enough to get 1-2 hours!! This goes on all night. I have tried co-sleeping, rocking in the car seat, warm bath, shhhing, white noise, swing, swaddling (which worked well for a bit but now she can't stand it and squirms for hours), putting her down half asleep, putting her down in a deep sleep, pacifier (she hates it), nursing her to sleep, gently caressing her face and lullabies. I guess there's not much more to try (I am not a CIO person and she's too young for that anyway) Is anyone else going through the same thing? What can I do? My husband is starting to resent her for the continued crying and fussing because she doesn't want to sleep!!! I'm at my wits end here!! :(
My 11 week old baby won't sleep longer than 3-4 hours. Is this normal? My 11 Week old baby boy wakes up every 3 hours on the dot usually. Last night he gave me one 3 1/2 hour stretch. Maybe twice he has slept 4 or 4 1/2 hours. He just went the the pediatrician and she seemed concerned that he was eating too much formula if he is eating approx every 3 hours and eating 5-6oz at a time. She reccomended we start spoon feeding cereal before bed. So I tried that, and its near impossible at this age. I give him 2 servings of it in a bottle around 9pm and he wakes up at his usual time, 2:30ish. Then again about 5 or 6am and is up for the day about 8:30 or 9am. He usually takes a hour long nap before noon, afternoon, and in the evening. Hour long at the most! I went back to work when he was 5 1/2 weeks old and at that age the only way for me to get 5 or 6 hours of sleep was for him to sleep on my chest. He is just now getting to the point where I can lay him down for naps & at night on his back (in our bed). Either way he only sleeps 3 hours 4 at the most. My mom seems to think he should have been sleeping through the night at 6 weeks old! I am her only child however and I've tried explaining that is probably not going to happen until he is at least 6 months old. Is he acutally supposed to be sleeping 5 or 6 hours at a time? Am I doing something wrong? I don't mind getting up with him anymore and if he DOES happen to sleep longer than 4 hours I would probably wake up and wonder whats wrong! LOL. I just want to make sure its not another issue. I've tried other things in the middle of the night. Like maybe he is waking up because his diaper is wet....NOPE. Every time I've changed him in the middle of the night his diaper is DRY. Like he doesn't pee at night. I've tried changing his position to his side (which he also likes) and that won't work. I've tried the binky and all that does is progressivly piss him off until he gets a bottle. Just wondering what is "normal" I guess. I don't want anything to be wrong...
My baby won't sleep, not crying? She hasn't slept for more than 5-20 minutes all day. It's almost 3 AM and she's still wide awake! She's not crying, just sitting here looking at me. She cries when her pacifier falls out of her mouth. I'm exhausted, any suggestions? She's 2 months old.
Baby won't sleep by herself? My daughter is 8 1/2 months old and I cant get her to sleep by herself, when I put her in the room and close the door she cries naturally well her father goes and picks her up and rocks her to sleep we fight over this every night and I don't know what to do....He doesnt like hearing her cry he says it hurts his heart and to make it worse when she cries in the middle of the night he puts her in bed with us so she is sleeping with us half the night... She does have her own room and Im trying to let her cry herself to sleep but her father wont let her How do I stop him?
do you put your baby to sleep on their tummy? does anybody do this? my baby won't seem to go to sleep any other way. any advice on how to put her to sleep? she stays up mostly during the day cuz i keep her up till it is bedtime but then she won't fall a sleep till i put her on her tummy with her pacifier. when i try rocking her she falls asleep but then when u put her down she wakes up a few minutes later so that doesnt work either. she is one month.
My baby won't sleep without covering his face w/his blanket. What would you do? He's always liked to bury his face into something, be it my boobs or crease between my arm and body when he goes to sleep. It doesn't matter if it's dark or light. Lately he will kick his legs up pulling his blanket up and he will go to sleep with it over his head completely. I will take it off, but he ends up pulling it back over his face/head. He needs to be covered up, so I don't know what to do? I am so afraid of him suffocating or not getting enough oxygen to his brain. Should I just let him be uncovered??? Please don't ridicule me for not wanting to do that either. Thanks! He's almost 5 months old. Sorry for not mentioning that. It's not that it's very cold here, but it's a comfort to me. I cannot imagine sleeping without any cover. I guess that's why I don't want to take it away from him. I will definitely get one with the little holes in it (like a crochet one maybe).
My New baby won't sleep in his crib? I don't know what to do my 1 week old only sleeps in a vibrating infant rocker we put him in his crib in a deep sleep and he wakes up right away no matter what I do. Is there anything I can do about this ? Is it bad for him to sleep in the rocker ?Will it increase the chance of SIDS ?
My baby won't go to sleep until after 2am. What do I do to change his sleep pattern? I have tried everything. I rather him sleep from 11pm to when he wakes up. What can I do to change his sleep schedual? He is almost 4 months and I am lucky he sleeps 5 - 6 hours at night but what can I do so he will go to sleep earlier and wake up earlier? also what can I do to keep him awake after the morning ritual? I don't put him to bed that late. I try to get him to sleep early but he seems to want to do nothing but play....
It's 6 in the morning and my baby won't sleep!?!??!!? She's almost 4 months old. She always sleeps in between 4am-6am in the morning...then wakes up around 2pm in the afternoon...then she takes a nap around 4-5pm for about 2-3 hours. Excuse my language this isn't going to be so motherly but...this is driving me f***ing crazy. What the H*LL am I supposed to do? ...I have to wake up at 9 in the morning....and she's just crying!?!?!?!? OMFG. I'm about to shoot my brains out.
Sleep Positioners????? Baby won't nap!? My baby will not take a nap during the day unless he is in my arms. As soon as I set him in the crib he wakes up a minute later screaming. Has anyone ever used a sleep positioner and do you think that this would help with my problem. Oh and at night I have absolutely no problem. He still wakes up twice in the night and he is two months old but he does not need me to hold him the whole night! I am desperate....please help! Thank you
8 week old baby won't sleep on her back? My baby girl is turning 8 weeks this week. Ever since she got home from the hospital, she had trouble sleeping or staying asleep. She sometimes would fall asleep in my arms but as soon as I put her down in her bed, she would either wake up straight away or wake up after no more than half an hour. When she was about 6 weeks, I was shown by a nurse to pat her to sleep in her side, wait till she's in her deep sleep then put her on her back. I found patting her to sleep on her side really worked but the problem was as soon as I put her back on her back, she would fuss, after a short while and then wakes up. So I tried leaving her to sleep on her side, using a positioner on either side so she wouldn't flip onto her tummy, and found that she would stay asleep that way. Even at night time, she would only wake up once or twice for a feed then fall back asleep. However, recently she's been fussing a lot even when I leave her to sleep on her side. She would turn her head down on the mattress fussing rubbing her head against it, taking longer to fall asleep. Then when she is asleep, she would wake up sooner than when she was first introduced to be put to sleep on her side. At night, she wakes up more frequently as she is a little older now and is able to kick herself back on her back and would fuss and wake up soon after as she is still not able to be left on her back to sleep. Is she going through some sort of phase? Why would she all of a sudden not sleep as good as she used to? Is it ok to leave her to sleep on her side if she still has trouble staying asleep on her back? Would leaving her to sleep on her side damage her arms in the long run, since it's always being bent and pressed down by her body? Would she eventually be able to sleep on her back? Is anyone else having similar problems? It would be good if anyone can answer my questions. Thanks.
My 3 day old baby won't sleep alone..? I just came home with my newborn baby girl yesterday from the hospital. The first night she slept in the bassinet thing they give you in the hospital but the second night she slept with me in the hospital bed. Since then whenever i put her in the crib at home or in the hospital baby bed she crys and screams within minutes. I am not sure if this is normal or not but I need advice. Did anyone else experience this with their newborns? She only stops crying if I hold her and if I put her back in the crib she will cry again. What should I do? Should I be concerned? Any advice will help, thanks.
Why won't my 3 week old baby sleep longer than 10 minutes? It's very frustrating! I'll feed her until she won't take anymore, burp her and rock her to sleep. I'll rock her for about 10 minutes until I know she's asleep good, then put her in the bassinet. But during the day, she won't sleep for longer than 10 minutes before waking up. I even cover the bassinet to block out the light. Doesn't work. Any ideas to help me? Please!
Brand new baby won't sleep at night.? We just had our baby on Sunday and she sleeps great all day, but won't sleep at all from 8PM to 3AM. Has anyone found anything useful for a brand new baby for sleeping?
Why won't my baby sleep without a fight? Whenever it is time for my baby to go to sleep, either at night or for a nap during the day, she screams and fights to stay awake. I've tried everything (swaddle, letting her cry it out, feeding, changing diapers) but nothing seems to be working. Any clues?
Why won't my 5 month old baby sleep longer than an hour? He just started doing this, he wakes up screaming after an hour. It doesn't matter if it's a nap or night time, he won't sleep longer than an hour. He's not teething. The temp in his room is set at 75 degrees. HE'S NOT TEETHING. There are no white spots, no bumps, no cuts, NOTHING! What temp should we keep the room at?
HELP 20 week old baby won't sleep what do I do?!? My breast-fed baby won't sleep for longer than 2 hours. He is a healthy weight (over 17lbs) and the health visitor suggested starting weaning him as he's showing all the signs of needing more than milk. I give him about 100mls breastmilk mixed with baby rice in the evening, but it hasn't helped. He usually won't finish all of it. Should I feed him some during the day too? Also, when he wakes up, I try to comfort him, and he falls asleep in my arms, then when I put him down he wakes up again, and then won't settle until I've fed him. That's sometimes 1/2 hour after he last did it! He has never been a good sleeper and the best it has ever been is 2 weeks over Christmas when he slept at midnight and woke at 4 then 8. That was manageable but this is seriously making me down, I feel so useless and tired. Please help!!! Do I need to be more fascist!?
Why won't my baby sleep through the night? My baby boy is nearly 13 weeks old. He is exclusively breastfed and does not have formula. Every night I feed him at 7pm and put him to bed. My hubby then gets him up at 11pm and gives him 6oz of expressed milk. On a good night he wakes up at around 3am and again at around 7am. On a bad night, he wakes up at 2am and 5am. I have 10 friends with babies of the same age, and ALL of them are sleeping through the night. Why isn't my baby? And what can I do about it? He has slept through to 5.30am once, a few weeks ago, but this was never repeated. Before anyone says it - I am NOT going to put cereal in his bottle of give him any kind of solids. I think he is too young for that. I've tried increasing the amount of milk he has at his 11pm feed but he won't take more than 6oz. Thanks
Baby won't sleep? My baby won't sleep. He acts like he is tired he will even fall asleep in my arms , but when I go to put him down that is all it takes and he won't sleep. When I do get him to sleep he will only sleep for about ten minutes then is up the rest of the day, and is very cranky. HELP !!! He is 5 months and I've tried letting him cry it out doesn't help
Baby that won't sleep through the night - age 13 months? I am going crazy. My 13 month old son doesn't sleep though the night, He is bottle fed and has 3, 250ml bottles a day, load of good food (breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as morning and afternoon tea if he wants it) He has a dummy and a blanket and likes to be wrapped a little bit still, and puts himself to sleep (sometimes with a 5 minute whinge, but still on his own) He wakes up between 2-6 times a night, he goes to bed at 7:30 or 8pm and doesn't get up for the day until 7am but wakes all those times... usually just for a few screams, but sometimes (like right now) he's screaming his head off.. I have to go in and put him back down and put his dummy in and thats it... but I'm so sick of not having a baby that sleeps through... he did it for a few months at about 4 months old and I thought I was onto a winner... I'm out of ideas because my 3.5 year old slept through from 10 weeks and still does.... any ideas or anyone having the same prob? p.s "Afternoon tea' in Australia is just a snack that you have in the afternoon, usually a banana or some fruit or crackers. Maybe he's teething at the same time, how would I know, he's been doing this for 9 months or so... night waking that is
baby won't sleep laying flat? My baby is three months old and won't sleep laying flat. I have tried putting a wedge under his mattress and he still won't sleep. I have been sleeping upright on the couch holding him. He has a mild form of acid reflux. I have tried a swing, a bouncer, a sling (for during the day when I need to get things done) propping him up in the stroller, in his car seat etc. They only work temporarily. Usually for no more than half an hour. This is especially troublesome when I need to pump. I spend most of my time trying to calm him while pumping. If anyone has any suggestions, homeopathic or otherwise it would be greatly appreciated. I have heard of Colic Calm and wonder if that might help. Also, I'm not into letting my baby "cry it out".
Our baby won't sleep!? We have a 9 month old baby boy and he just won't sleep in his cot, he only falls asleep in our bed with us. We have tried putting him in his cot after he has fallen asleep but he wakes up straight away and screams the House down if we leave him in there. Any ideas as we need our bed back!
Baby won't sleep on back.? My baby won't sleep on his back at all! I've tried swaddling he kicks out of it. I've tried sleeping on the side still won't do. I've tried holding him till he was in a deep sleep he wakes up 15 mins later. Now I've read on SIDS and they said boys and prematurity causes a higher risk which he is both..he was born 2 months early. Now I've been trying to see if I could let him cry it out, but I don't know how long to let him, cuz I don't want to be a bad mom and let him cry forever. And yes he sleeps very very well on tummy just too scared about SIDS. He's 2 months early. He can't roll over yet, but he lifts his head on his own, he'll be on the left side of his face and when I check on him he'll be on his right. Ahh he's a little over two months sry so tired!!
My baby won't sleep unless cuddled and though asleep cries as soon as she's put to bed? My baby girl is 5 months old now, she was born at 36weeks due to me having pre-eclampsia and spent the first 3weeks of her life in special baby care. She is my first born and I adore her however I am becoming increasingly tired and exhausted as it is such a battle to get her to sleep. She becomes very tired at around 5pm- I try and stick to a routine of bath 6pm, bottle then bed but occasionally I have to make it slightly earlier due to the fact she becomes tired at around 5pm. Sometimes I let her nap at 5 and she wakes at 5.30pm then I bath her at 6pm. She will fall asleep as I am giving her a bottle but as soon as I put her in her cot she wakes and cries. I sometimes bounce the mattress which makes her go to sleep but she then will wake 6-7times before finally giving in and sleeping. She then wakes 11.30pm, then 3pm then 6.30pm, but each time it can be quite a battle to get her to sleep. I feel she is eating more in the night than in the day, but she will not accept water and will scream until she is given milk. During the day she won't sleep unless she is being cuddled. When writing this I feel like I've spoilt her but I do not believe in the 'leaving a child to cry' method and she suffered terrible colic until she was put on prescribed lactose free formula just over a month ago. I have seen various sites on the internet which charge to tell you how to teach your child to self sooth. Does anyone have any tips, advice? I'm desperate!
My baby won't sleep anymore? My baby just turned one on Sunday. For the past week, he's been like a different baby. My husband and I have stuck to a strict bedtime which has worked well for us. Now he WILL NOT go to sleep at his bedtime. Then, once we get him to sleep, he wakes up screaming at the top of his lungs a few hours later. He woke up last night at 1:30 and we couldn't get him back to sleep until 3:30. He won't take food when he wakes up. He only has one tooth left to come in, so I doubt it's because of teething. He only takes one nap during the day and it's for an hour or so. I don't know what to do, but i'm almost seven months pregnant, working full time and I'm tired! Any tips or anyone else been through the same thing? Casper, we actually did move about 3 weeks ago. Do you think this could be why he's acting like this?
Baby won't sleep because of the fireworks going off outside.? It sounds like bombs are going off in my neighborhood. Arrrrgh! This is awful. In my state they're allowed to use them until 11pm. On the fourth they can use them until midnight. The fifth they can use them until 11pm and on the sixth they can't use them anymore. My baby won't go back to sleep and I can tell she's tired. I can't wait til the 6th. She sleeps in my bed anyway. I'm kind of surprised my oldest hasn't gotten up and come into my room for the night too. MadameXcupcake, I feel for you being in Vegas.
My 7 month old baby won't sleep in our house, any suggestions? My baby boy is 7 months old and has always been a restless sleeper but he has slept through the night since he was 8 weeks old. We have found it impossible to get him into a bedtime routine, we've tried all the tips, bath, bottle, cuddle, bedtime etc. He won't go to bed before 10-11 pm. We've tried putting him to bed awake and drowsy but he still resists! He has to be cuddled to sleep. As soon as we put him in his cot he's screaming, he gets in such a temper. Through the night he stirs; kicks his legs, rolls back and forth, turns around etc. The problem is where he used to sleep through his movements for the past 8 weeks he wakes up and immediately cries for one of us to pick him up. My partner tells me not to pick him up but he gets so upset, i've tried giving him his dummy and soothing him but he wants to be up. We have brought him into our bed but he only goes back to sleep if his dad sleeps on the sofa and its just me and him. He's waking about 7 times per night and is awake for ages each time! We're literally getting no sleep! On the other hand hadvicet down my mums house last night and slept all night. Could it be our house? or us?? I'm at my wits end, he has two teeth and I expected sleepless nights through teething but now seems he just wants me to pick him up as when I do he begins smiling and wanting to play. Any advice or suggestions will be appreciated as we are so tired. Thank you. Thanks all, some great tips. I will definately look at the book. Christine to be honest I had considered the haunted thing, but put it out of my mind so I wasn't freaked out but it could be a possibility. I am going to try the controlled crying method suggested and I think that although I love having him with us ot is time to try him in his own room. Thanks everyone for taking the time to answer, I hope i'll solve it soon! Hi, I have ordered the books from Amazon. Had a mixed few days this week, last night he was awake and crying often but the night before he only woke up once at 2 am for his soother and went back to sleep. I am confused. Tried leaving him cry it out and I have just been patting his chest rather than oicking him out, to say he wasn't impressed would be an understatment but he eventually fell asleep after about 1 hour and a 1/2. He has plenty of food before bed and has special bedtime milk, I have also always used the lullaby/lights machine but I think he is getting wise to that lol. Keep the tips coming if you have any as I will try anything. Cheers.
Why Won't My Baby Sleep Through the Night Anymore? My son, who is currently 3 1/2 months old, has been sleeping a solid 8-9 hour stretches for 2 months. All of a sudden, within the last few weeks, he won't sleep for more than 4-5 hours at a time IF we are lucky. What makes it worse is that once he has woken up twice in the night, he will not go back to sleep. When he was sleeping through the night, I would put him in his crib awake but drowsy and if he lost his paci he would suck his thumb and put himself to sleep. NOT ANYMORE. I tried letting him cry, and 4 hours later he was still crying and making himself sick. Even for his naps, which I used to have to wake him up from, I am constantly putting him back to sleep during his nap. It might take 3 1/2 hours to get a 2 1/2 hour nap. He eats so much for how old he is, and is consuming about 6oz. before bedtime. He is lactose intolerant and has a moderate case of acid reflux which he is on medication for. I just don't know what to do! Obviously I checked on my child during the 4 hours he was crying. I assumed people wouldn't think I just left him in his room to cry and cry and cry. He is swaddled, he is fed cereal before bedtime, he just won't sleep anymore. In addition, he is breastfed. The only bottle he gets is at night and it is breastmilk, that way cereal can be mixed into it.
Our 17 month old baby won't sleep through the night. What can we do? Since he was about 10 months old and up until last month, he'd been sleeping in his own bed and in his own room through the night without any problems. Recently, it's just been a nightmare. He gets up almost every hour crying and screaming for us to hold him until he falls asleep. I've tried moving him into our room and into our bed, but it hasn't solved the problem. He still wants to be cuddled to sleep. He's perfectly fine - it's not what we feed him, not teething, not illness, not a growth spurt...We just can't figure it out! We need our sleep! Advice anyone?
why won't my baby sleep longer than an hour? He's 3 weeks old and will sleep for an hour right after feeding, then wake up and fuss and just stay away until he screams because he's hungry. This has been going on too long!
5wk old baby won't sleep!? My 5 week old daughter sleeps perfectly at night time, only waking a couple of times for a feed.... but she won't sleep during the day! She wakes up around 8.00am, and if I'm really lucky she will have a very restless sleep for around 45minutes at around 11.00am. She then wants to be up pretty much all day from there! What can I do! I know that overtired babies don't sleep well, but she won't let me put her down even when she's not overtired!
my 4 month old baby won't sleep in his crib.? He has been sleeping in his swing since about 1 month old (doctor said to do this) but now he is too big. His feet hang over the end of the seat. He will only sleep about an 1 hour and then wake up screaming in his swing. Doesn't matter if i put him on his belly or back. I thought it would get better but it hasn't. I don't know what to do.
6 month old baby won't sleep on his back? I have a 6 month old son who can roll over on his front and is starting to crawl but now he's refusing to sleep on his back, I bought a guard that he lays on to stop the rolling but he just wriggled out of it, if I roll him back over he cries and just rolls himself over again. I'm worried he may suffocate himself as he is unable to roll back onto his back yet. Is this ok for him to sleep like this or is it too risky? thanks guys I feel a lot more at ease now although he can't roll from front to back he has good head control.. With the exception of the answer from diamond, u should grow up
My baby won't sleep and throws fits? I dont know whats wrong. shes 8 months. this all started when she had a cold a week or so ago, and now she hates sleeping. i have been sleeping with her in my arms, which he likes some times. and rocking her works sometimes. but shes just usually screaming and squirming around. its like something is hurting her. i think she might be a little constipated, we did switch from lactose free to regular dairy formula a few days ago. i just dont know what to do. i need some sleep. and so does she.
3 month old baby w/reflux won't sleep in bassinet & cries every night? My son will be 3 months old on the 20th of this month. His doctor says he has reflux and so is prescribed Axid twice a day, and this has seemed to help with the fussiness associates with reflux and not the reflux itself, which is what it's supposed to do. However.. He won't sleep ANYWHERE other than on someone. We've tried everything--everywhere. We've tried putting him down in the bassinet and patting him, womb noises, swing, carseat, drives, rocking, cosleeping, really everything. He hasn't slept in his bassinet even in the hospital and ever since. Also--he definitely has colic, or what APPEARS to be colic...he screams and cries during the day or night...He can be a very happy, cooing, smiling baby at times, too. But especially at night he's incredibly fussy....and NOTHING seems to help. We've changed his formulas several times--tried Good Start Gentle Plus, Similac Sensitive RS, Enfamil Nutramigen, Similac Early Shield Advance, and Enfamil Gentlease, which is what has seemed to do alright with us. People keep saying, and even our dr says, to 'ride it out' that it'll get better eventually. However, it seems to me like he's in PAIN. And I don't feel comfortable just....letting him scream and scream and scream. If something is WRONG with him, it seems like we should be able to figure it out and fix it. The reason I guess I'm starting to wonder if it could even be colic at all is it's supposed to peak at 8 weeks and should be almost or completely gone by 12. Well....we're at that mark. And it's still awful. We'd love to be able to go back to school, but can't, and can't even get jobs, because, well, what daycare would take a screaming child who won't even sleep in a bassinet? What should we do??? Should we get a stomach test done? Allergy test?? I want my happy baby boy, but I want him happy more often. And god, it'd be great to see him SLEEP in his own bassinet. We did try womb sounds. It doesn't help. We DO sleep with him, not in bed with us, but ON us...nothing else gets him to sleep. And we did try soy formula--made him REALLY constipated. And we even tried a hypoallergenic, Nutramigen So...don't know what it could be at this point other than some health problem..
My baby won't sleep through the night!!!! HELP!!? he's 8 months...should I let him cry it out?? he's fed a big meal at 7, and goes to bed easily- but gets up at 3 and 6 for a bottle. why is he so hungry? shouldn't he be sleeping through the night by now?
My 6 week old baby wont sleep without being held? My baby won't sleep in his own crib at all, and won't even go to sleep unless he's being held or is very near me and his daddy in bed. I'm afraid of letting him keep sleeping in my bed with us because of SIDS and we need just a little bit of mommy and daddy time. If we hold him until he goes to sleep and then lay him down he wakes up within 5-15 minutes and cries to be held. We have tried to swaddle him, the womb and white noise sounds don't work, I have tried sitting by the crib with a hand on him to comfort him, nothing quite works. Don't get me wrong, I know babies need to be loved and held, but all I can do all day is just hold the baby and for both of our sakes, I need a small break. His dad works 8 to over twelve hours a day so I'm alone most of the with nobody to give me a break. Any ideas?
the 4 month old baby won't sleep!!? My fiance and i are babysitting his 4 month old cousion, and he won't sleep! any tips on how to get him to sleep. Yes, we have fed him, changed his diper, everything we could think of. Help! we have been rocking him for 4 hours...obviously it's not working.
Why won't my 7 week old baby sleep? I'm not asking why he won't sleep at night. That is the least of my worries. The past few days he has been awake for at least 16 hours before he will sleep at all. Today he woke up at about 5 am after sleeping 2 hours and he has had 3 15 minute naps during the day. Now it is after 10 pm and he still won't fall asleep. He is overtired and I don't know what to do. We have tried rocking, swaddling, bouncing, quiet, noisy, white noise, bath... nothing works. Any suggestions or possible reasons why would be greatly appreciated. He has colic and is on Axid twice a day.
My Baby Won't Sleep In Her Cot? Hi, i have a 8month baby and recently she has been having problems sleeping in her cot. She'll be fine if i put her in there at any point of the day but as soon as i put her in there at the night she cries. I've tried letting her "cry it out" for the past 2weeks now and it just seems to be getting worse. There is nothing wrong with her, because as soon as i pick her up she stops crying and acts like nothing is wrong. Can anyone help me please?
5 month old baby won't sleep at night.? I am not asking for him to sleep no 8 hours straight but My son wakes up every 45mins to 1.5hr at night. He is already 18.5lbs so I don't think it's because he is hungry. he just wakes up fussing and wiggling around. I try feeding him and most the time he doesn't want to eat. It takes about 15-30 mins to get him back to sleep what's going on?? Any answers for me out there MOMS!! I am so exhausted!! Also he won't take longer than a 45 minute nap during the day usually it's only about 30 minutes every 2 hours so about 3 or 4 naps a day. Any help would be much appreciated! I have ruled out gas already He is teething I now can feel his tooth buds. I am hoping it's just a phase. because from the time he was 2 months old to a little over 3 months old he was sleeping 5-8hours before waking to eat. So I know he is capable of doing it. I also try to let him soothe himself back to sleep this never works. I am at my wits end! I just feel bad if he is in so much pain from teething! I try teething tabs they do nothing. I have given him infant tylenol maybe 4 times that helps for about 2-3 hours but I don't want to keep giving him tylenol thats just bad for him! Any other options for teething? Also I used to move him into bed with me. Now he just sleeps with me because I am too exhausted to get up and down anymore at night! Also he is exclusively breastfed occasionally I will feed him rice cearal
HELP - my baby won't sleep? Today my son woke up at 6am for 30 minutes and then went back to bed until 9am. Then over the course of the day he slept for a TOTAL of an hour (1, 30 minute nap and then 5-10 minute snoozes). He was unhappy about being put down, he was unhappy about just sitting down with me... normally he's good in the swing or bouncy chair, but today he wasn't having any of it. I was finally able to get him to go to bed at 10:15pm which is an hour past when he normally is in bed. HELP! Does anyone have any advice - I don't know if I can handle too many more days like today. I am *basically* a single mom - my hubby works out of town for weeks at a time, so I'm here, alone with the baby all day. And the weather is really cold and snowy so we don't/can't really get out of the house very often. Any advice would be soooo helpful - Thanks!! sorry - should add he is just over 5 months (born 2 months early, so his adjusted age is just over 3 months), so it could be teething. I would love to take him outside and go for a walk, but when I say cold I mean like -10c or colder (a few weeks ago it was -37c with windchill) - so definately too cold to take the little bub out in.
Why won't my baby sleep? My 11-month old daughter is great in every way...except for sleep. I realize that this is my fault for several reasons: she had colic until 12 weeks, so I basically let her nurse whenever she needed to to. This seemed to have led to the nurse-to-sleep association that everyone says we need to break . I thought we were doing okay b/c in the summer, she was sleeping from 7pm until 4am (perfectly acceptable considering she was getting up HOURLY). Then she got her first ear infection and was literally sick since September. During that time, I made mistake #2, which was letting her sleep with me. She nursed when she needed to and I was there to give her the Nebulizer treatments, suction her nose, etc. Plus, at least I was getting 2 hours of sleep at a time throughout the night. Here we are in January & I don't know what to do anymore. We have tried everything, even the stupid CIO (which even the doc agreed wasn't for my high-maintenance baby). She sleeps 2-3 hours at a time ANYWHERE I put her. You would think that when she's in bed with me, she'd sleep straight through b/c she's with her Mommy, but no. She seems to have difficulty putting herself back to sleep no matter where she is. We are trying Pantley's method and haven't seen much results so far (even though I know it can take awhile). I am at a loss as to what is waking my little girl up every 2-3 hours - she's well-fed, not sick, & ok in other aspects. Her naps are just as bad, except she wakes up after 30-40 minutes! Have I addicted my daughter to breastfeeding??? Any advice? I know this is my fault, so PLEASE be nice. I am tired, depressed, and don't know what to do. Thanks for your help!
baby won't sleep, parents don't see the problem? I am a nanny taking care of a 5 month old baby girl. She doesn't sleep through the night, and rarely sleeps for more than 20 minutes during the day. I am worried about her not sleeping, and have asked the parents if I can try implementing a sleep routine, but they told me that the baby knows how much sleep she needs, so they would rather she "tell" us when she's tired. I don't agree with this method, and I'd like to suggest something to the parents. Any suggestions on how to approach them, or other things I can do to help her "tell" me she is tired. (I think children are the ones that need "told" they are tired) Details on baby's behavior during the day: She tends to be very fussy when I get there (1 pm) and it usually only takes me about 10 minutes (if given solid, uninterrupted time) to put her to sleep). If she manages to get into a deep sleep without noise or commotion around the house waking her up, she will sometimes sleep for as long as 2 hours (that has only happened once in my two weeks there). If she can't get into a deep sleep, she is awake in 20-30 minutes, and then she refuses to do anything and needs to be held all the rest of the day. I am not there full time yet. Only 1-5 right now. I am not ever home alone with the baby, because the grandma (who agrees with me somewhat) is always there, and the mom comes in and out of the house alot. The parents are saying that her crying is because she is getting used to me, but I really think it's more from lack of sleep, because given 15 minutes with her, I can usually get her back to sleep if one of them doesn't intervene.
My baby just won't sleep! Help? I don't know what is wrong with my son. He's 8 weeks old and the past 4 days just won't sleep. He won't nap for more then 10 minutes before wailing again. I've tried baths, rocking, swings, bouncers. You name it and I tried it. He has acid reflux but he is on med. for it. I don't know what is wrong. He hasn't slept in over 10 hours. Can babies get sleep disorders?
Baby won't sleep longer than 5 hours? My 5 1/2 month old daughter won't sleep longer than 5 hours. Actually 5 hours is a good night! She usually goes 4 hours on most nights. I'm 100% breastfeeding, and have been since she was born. I'm going to start introducing solids to her in about 2 weeks cause she'll be 6 months old. She'll always go back to sleep after waking every 4-5 hours, but is this normal? Is there anything I can do help her sleep longer? She weighs 16 lbs
My 8 month baby won't sleep at night.? Please help me if you can. I have a 8 month old baby boy and he is a great little one, but he will not sleep threw the night he gets up 3 or 4 times and its driving my crazy. 6 week old baby won't sleep? I have a 6 week old who is feeding well (breastfeed) who has his 30-45 minutes playtime and then get grizzly tired. I have tried everything but he will not sleep. I wrap him and rock him to sleep as soon as I put him in his cradle he wakes. I have tried putting him in his cradle and patting him to sleep without success. He is clearly exhausted but won't sleep. We do have a dummy which he sometimes uses but not really keen. He does have symtoms of colic and/or reflux. Have tried infant's friend that worked for 2 weeks then not successful, tried infacol that burnt his bum when he did a poo. For reflux I tried gaviscon and as it is a thickening agent my little man got constipated so I stopped using that also. I am perservering with water, massage and heat packs does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions I could try to save my sanity and give my son some comfort?
9 month old baby won't sleep? I have a 9 month old daughter who won't sleep unless I breastfeed her for an hour or so at 9 pm. She then wakes up at 11 and 3. At 11 she'll go back to sleep on her own if I lay my hand on her. At 3 she'll wake up screaming and won't go back to sleep for hours. Sometimes not at all. She wants to play. I'm getting really tired and it's hard to be peppy for her after getting just a few hours of sleep. I already have a hard time falling asleep myself without being woken up...could she have developed my insomia?

my 1 month old baby boy won't sleep in his own crib. what do i do? Went we do put him in the crib, he cries. I’ve tried putting him in the car seat, the swing, and rocking he to sleep. Nothing seems to work. All he wants to do is sleep on my chest. It’s the only way he'll clam out enough to sleep. He’s so little and he needs to sleep. Please help us.
My baby won't sleep anymore! Help? My 8 1/2 month old is up all the time now. He used to go to bed at the same time and take two naps at the same time. Now he stays up late, gets up early and only takes about one nap a day for about a half an hour. He is so cranky! I put him down in his crib when he shows signs that he is tired and I even let him cry in order to go to sleep. But he will be in his crib for like an hour crying/ playing and won't give in. Then he will start to scream and I take him out. He used to just go to sleep whenever I put him in his crib and not even fuss. I need sleep! I know he is teething and I give him tylenol when it gets really bad. but even that doesn't help much. What do I do? He eats solids already and I know he is not hungry. I try feeding him a bottle and he just pushes it away.
Why won't my baby sleep? My son is 8 months old and he is up twice sometimes 3 times at night. Sometimes he will go right back to sleep and sometimes he wants to wake all the way up for about 30 Min's and then will go back to sleep. When he was 3 months he would sleep through the night and not nap well during the day, but around the time he turned 6 months old it became the opposite. He takes 2 great naps then only sleeps for 2-3 hour stretches at night. I am beginning to get very frustrated. Does low iron have any thing to do with it or do I just have a difficult child?
My baby won't sleep in his bed.? I have a three week old baby and am having trouble getting him to sleep anywhere but my arms. We have tried his carseat, his bed, his bassinett with no luck. As soon as we lay him down within ten minutes he is back awake most of the time. We have also triede a heating pad with no success. What should we do? Any tips? I do not put the heating pad directly in the bed with him. I put it in to warm the bed and remove it before putting him in,
