What are some emergency care tips for baby rats that have been abandoned by their mother? A friend found a litter of baby rats in her backyard this morning. The mother appears to have died, or abandoned them. They have hair, about 1 inch long, and appear to be at least a week or so old. They roamed around the yard all day looking for food, water, their mother. Most have since died from heat exposure, dehydration, but two remain. Does anyone have any tips on how to keep the remaining two alive until they can find someone to remove them from the backyard? They definitely don't plan on keeping them around, but they don't want to kill them either.

Any helpful Baby care tips? ok, if your here just to judge me, please just stop, i really need some help and ive had enough judgment and criticizing to last me a life time. anyways, Im 14 years old, and my beautiful twins Oliver Allen and Ava Lynn were born on the wonderful day of May 22. they are now thriving at almost 1 month old. I lived in a foster home until i got pregnant but since then i have lived with my grandmother. She has been so so so helpful but she is 68 and sometimes it seems like im taking care of all three of them.I promised myself when i got pregnant that i would be the best mother to my children that was humanly possible, and i intend to keep that promise. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas on how to hold Ava and Oliver so that they are more comfortable, or to make them stop crying, or to sleep longer or just any helpful tips that might make things a little easier for all of us. thank you guys in advanced:) here's a pic of Ava(on left) and Oliver(onright) sorry if its a little small http://www.yourpalchrismal.com/images/ZeiglerTwins_tiny.jpg Also any thoughts on breastfeeding? I have heard many things about it not being healthy for mother or child at my age.
What are some good tips for taking care of a 4 month old baby? I'm babysitting tomorrow for these people my mom is friends with. They have a 4 month old son. I've never taken care of a baby before...the youngest child I've babysat for was 3. Care tips for a baby brown snake? I found a baby snake in my neighborhood in northern Texas, I believe that it is a brown snake (Storeria dekayi), and I was wondering how to care for it. I offered it some crickets and a pill bug, and I think my mom may have dropped a slug in, but he/she doesn't seem to be eating. I was also wondering if a cage setup with aspen bedding, a hide, a leaf pile in the corner, and a shallow water dish with a 60 watt heat bulb would do.
real care baby two tips? Firstly, this is NOT a real baby, its a school project :) Okay, so i'm getting the reality works 'real care baby' this weekend and i'm not really know what to expect. Do you have any Real Care Baby 2 tips? I've have the baby for two days and one night (so far) and the first day and night were fine, and today was fine, but at about 10:45 the baby started bawling. I activated it (heard the chime) and tried burping, rocking, changing, and feeding it, but it wouldn't let up. Then it got even louder, and I though I let head fall, but that wasn't it. I rocked it for 30 seconds longer, and it stopped, but it didn't coo. (Not sure if it was supposed to.) A couple minutes later, it cried again, and it needed burping, but the burping took literally 45 minutes. But the weird thing is I didn't hear it burp, but it cooed. It's sleeping now. Does anyone (who has HAD the real care baby) have any suggestions on care? I understand the cries, how long each activity should take, etc. But the things that get me is the burping and rocking. What does a rocking cry vs. a burping cry sound like? Anyother tips welcome! Sentance was ment to say: *I thought I let the head fall,

Any tips about how to take care of a wild baby bird? Well some guy brought a wild baby bird in to the vet clinic I work at yesterday. We've been giving it powdered kitten food mixed with water and it seems to be doing ok with that. We're trying to get it to a rehabilitation center soon. It has feathers and seems to be doing fine. The vet clinic normally never works with birds so we don't know much about what to do. Are there any tips on how to take care of it until we get it some place better? I brought it home tonight, we always keep it in a box with a towel. Is that ok? It's a baby blue jay if that helps. margecutter: We know we need to get it to a person quaified for birds like this so you don't need to be so repetitive. We also already know where to take it, we're just waiting till the weekend to drive up there. As for our clinic taking it, what else were we suppposed to do? The guy didn't want to tae it back and put it where he found it so do we just toss the bird outside? The vet wasn't stupid, she knows baby birds fledge and that if you find one it's best to leave it alone or just watch it from a distance. You answered your question as if our clinic was the one that picked it up from someone's lawn and took it in. Most of your long response was just pointless to the question I asked.
Tips for take care of a baby box turtle? My sister found a baby box turtle at a construction site 3wks ago and has been able to keep him healthy. She's been feeding him lettuce and we told her to also give him boiled chx and strawberries. He's a really little guy (barely 1.5in in diameter) and we're not sure if this is okay for sure. She also has a heat rock in 20 gallon tank w/wood chips that he burrows in a lot. Does anyone have any suggestions for feeding, caring for him that we're not thinking of? He seems to be thriving. PS please no comments about "taking him out of his natural environment". He was in danger where she found him.

What are some basic beginner care tips for a baby RES? My little sister wants to get a baby turtle and I know some basic stuff about them and that they can be hard to take care of sometimes, but I think we're ready... We've never had a turtle before and she insists on one of the tiny ones, so: What type of bugs/etc. should we feed a teensy baby? And what brand of pellets is best? How deep should the water be? How often can we hold it? Is an incandescent bulb fine as a heat light for now? Does it need a little out-of-water house/shelter? What type of material (besides river rocks) would be good for making a basking spot? And is there ANY way at all to tell the gender of one before it gets mature? Any other beginner tips would also be appreciated. THANKS! :) Also, what would be a good name for a red ear slider? Especially a sort of both-gender name if you can't sex them this early... thx :)

PLEASE help with tips on care for a small (note, not pinky baby) squirrel? Okay, I found a little baby squirrel in the yard who is likely seperated from it's home/mother due to the massive landscaping project going on across the street in what used to be a very dense forest area. The little fellow (I am assuming it's male?? really no clue) is fully furred, ears open, eyes open, tail beginning to curl and he is very active. I am doing the best I can since no rehabilitators are in my direct area. I bought Enbilac, but he was not interested...seems way more interested in dry plain cheerios and bananas. So that's what he has been eating these last few days. So far so good...he seems active, alert and happy. He just sleeps an awful lot, usually most the day until I come and wake him 3x a day to take meals and play, which he does pretty well. I'm worried about the constant sleeping, the site I visited about baby squirrel care says he is probably between 6-8 weeks of age. So I am well aware he is weaned and can poop himself, and I've been finding his poop all over anyways. I offer him clean water in a small dish and he seems more interested in play with the water than drinking it. That I am concerned about. I called local animal shelters and all they did was say they couldn't take him in, and that I should be wary of touching him due to rabies...yet declined to offer much else by way of signs and only served to make me paranoid!! I can't release this little thing because he's way too small and has no nest to survive the winter, and he has become too attached to me. So, I need to know what I need to look for in a (potrntially) rabid squrriel since they done med me paranoid, how much they should be drinking now, and what is the best food for this age range? He seems very alert and happy since his first day here, now on day 4. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
How do I care for baby guinea pigs? (Tips.)? My sweet, mother guinea pig died. She left behind 3 little pups. They're very small. (2 days old now) I've been hand feeding them water from a dropper, some baby food, some veggies and some fruit. So far, I think I've done pretty well. I check them every couple hours. They're perky and scurry around their cage. I just need some tips, if anyone has some, as I've never done this before. I'm a little scared, I really don't want to lose her babies too. They're popcorning around the cage this morning. They sure drank a lot of water. (I'd even checked them only a couple hours earlier.) One is pretty picky, but he/she seems to take at least one thing I offer. So they're all eating at least. They do love to sleep under my hands. They enjoy the warmth and attention. We've been eating a lot of varied fruits and veggies. I've been trying to get them enough calcium and vitamin c. (The calcium/phosphorus ratio has me concerned. They won't eat collard greens, but spinach seems alright.) I don't think baby food is so good for them, so we're done eating that. (It gets them so messy too!) I wash them with a warm washcloth and dry them well. Do mother guinea pigs have a high mortality rate?

My dad found four baby bunnies? Any tips to care for them? Okay, so my dad was tearing up vines at our land, when he got down to check out the area, he found 3 baby rabbits scattered. He gathered them up and put them in the bucket. He said they couldn't hop, just wiggle. Two were wiggling good but one was just kind of laying their, but did wiggle. He didn't have any open outside wounds. My dad returned and found another who wiggled just fine. What should we feed them? What we are gonna feed them is... 1 can of sweetened condensed milk or fresh goats milk (NOT COWS MILK) 3 tablespoons heavy cream 3 tablespoons Karo corn syrup 1 egg yolk Then warm it up and feed the 4 through an eye dropper. We are gonna keep them in an aquarium with a towel warmed in the dryer every hour and a heater on half of the aquarium. Any other tips on keeping them happy and healthy? Is the food okay? They have the white on their head and their eyes are barely open they're only like a week old. Just a guess?

I had to work so I left the baby with my mom and she didn't know how to take care of it. Are there any tips or tricks I can use to help take care of the baby? Questions on baby turtle care? Soooo, i was at the river the other day and i saw a baby turtle in the water, at first i thought it was an acorn (I love to collect nuts no joke) so i picked it up and it was a turtle. I noticed that it wasnt with its mother so it mustve been lonely. And so i adopted it and saved it from the cold. Now back to the topic, what turtle do i have? It has a big head and it can't put its legs in its shell (i dont know why, my RES can) it has a hooked beak for some unknown reason, and its under shell is small and not connected? What turtle is this? And i would also like to learn any baby turtle care tips eg. what it eats, what it will eat, what envirement it should live in, the necesseties, and how to keep it healthy. And i just came back from Alaska to Michigan and expected warmer weather, didnt find any, just a lost baby turtle :(
I found a baby mouse, and want to take care of it, any helpful tips? The mouse is really small, but has hair and its eyes look some what newly opened. I've been reading up on what to feed it, and many said to feed it powdered milk. I went and bought powdered milk at the pet shop and a syringe, so far he's eating it ok... but not eating lots. The only issue is, I won't be home during the day, so how long can it go out with food? Could I leave some stuff in the cage, if so, what could I leave in there? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

Baby sitting on a nerve painful and frustrating, any tips? Hi, i'm 22 weeks and 4 days and i know this is a problem quite a few pregnant women experience, i just wandered if you cared to share your tips. The baby has been repeatedly lying on my nerve which results in varied levels of pain or discomfort. It started with a numb/pins and needles feeling in my right thigh, and since has moved to intense pains, from my right knee up over my hip and around my back... it really is crippling. And she always has a habbit of sitting on my nerve when i'm out especially in a supermarket lol. I have tried jigging her around by gentle persuasion and by force (e.g) jumping shaking etc) and although sometimes it works for a moment, she always goes straight back to the same spot. Please help because it really is frustrating and embarrasing when i'm crippled over in a shop crying.
Does anyone know a good formula for a 5-6 week old squirrel? Anyone know some care tips? My Aunt found a baby squirrel and she needs to know a good formula for it. We saw the mom and her other baby with her. The mom has problems. We can't find the mom and the other baby anywhere, so we're just keeping it in a box. We need help! So far, nobody has given me a milk formula. We need a good formula. We have started feeding them (we found a littermate) heated cow's milk and they don't seem to like it. We need a good formula that's safe for the squirrels! *FIRST TO GIVE ME A GOOD FORMULA GETS VOTED BEST ANSWER BY ME!*

What we know so far, is how to make it urinate (glad I found that, didn't know!) and about keeping it warm (up to 92F), we'll be taking it to a vet first thing tomorrow... Unfortunately, I'm living in Bulgaria, and I doubt I'll be able to find proper milk though (I read something about using goat milk as a substitute?? - right now we're feeding with warmed up standard cardbox milk (pasteureised of course) Anything else crucial that we should know?? Baby-care without chemicals? Even the most popular baby care products contain cancer-causing ingredients. http://www.ewg.org/reports/skindeep2/search.php?main_cat=BABY+PRODUCTS I'm trying as much as possible to only use natural products on my baby. So far, I have replaced baby oil with olive oil.. For diaper change i add a couple of drops of tea tree oil to the olive oil on a cloth. It works great for diaper rash and regular changes. I only use cloth diapers. I'm starting to make my own babyfood. It's better since homemade doesn't contain preservatives. Does anyone have any other tips for chemical-free baby-care?

Any tips for packing/moving with baby? I am a SAHM with a 7 1/2 month old daughter who is becoming more mobile. We are planning to move closer to my husband's job next month, and I am overwhelmed by the task of packing up our house while caring for our daughter. Have any of you packed/moved with your baby? I'd appreciate any tips.
