Baby Toy Recalls Knowledge Base

Are there any baby toys that have been recalled lately, from China or anywhere else? I have an 8 month old, and it seems that every toy he has is from China and there was that scare recently, so I am paranoid about him putting the toys in his mouth, etc. Are all toys safe now? What do I need to watch?
Does teether from fisher price is safe to be used by my baby.? I heard some products from the same manufacturer (Mattel) were being recalled because of excessive lead content, that's why I'm afraid to use her new toy given by her daddy, as a gift (bought at Dubai on June 2007) to the fear that it has the same hazard as other toys recalled. My baby's new toy is the rainforest monkey teether. Pls help, for safetey of my baby. Thanks
How are we supposed to have confidence in toy makers now? Just cuirios how you all feel about all of these toy recalls. I know myself as a new mother with a 3 month old baby, am begining to question everything I give to my daughter. How can we trust them from here on out? Just realized I was still under Hubby's email, I am Lindsey4706
With all these recalls,my baby's going to die of boredom! Any suggestions? Does anyone know of American-made toys for BABIES? I've found plenty of websites for American -made toys for kids, but my 4-month old isn't exactly into playing with trains and blocks yet. I love Baby Einsteins, and so does he, but all their stuff is made in China. Is there any way to be sure that the stuff is ok? He's at the stage where stuff isn't interesting unless he can shove it in his mouth. Any websites that sell baby toys made here? Or ideas on making "toys" out of everyday objects? I don't really have the time to be his ONLY source of entertainment... Does this mean I should toss all his hand-me-down toys from 3-year-old cousins?
how do you all feel about baby toys? i have this one car seat toy that you pull on and when you let go it? vibrates and goes back up. the thing has two eyes attached to it... i think it's a bee or something. is that safe? i'm afraid my son's going to chew or pull off the eyeballs. it's still for sale at target. i ask because i went to do some xmas shopping an hour ago at target and bought a laugh and learn kitchen and when i went to check out, it was recalled bc some parts came off and were choking hazards. the toy i bought, i believe, was made by sassy and as far as i know it is not recalled. the toy i bought was almost like a teether toy/car seat toy. should i just take the eyeballs off the toy myself? it's a cool toy, i just worry that an eyeball will fall off. how do you all feel about it?
Will you buy your baby toys from Mattel? After all they waited months to recall 21 million toys that harm kids read this.. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070912/ap_on_go_co/toy_safety I have a problem with a company that gives US jobs away to a communist country that treats it's emplyees like shi_. And then when it is brought to their attention that the toys that are made there can cause serious harm to US kids doesn't do anything about it for months. All for the bottom line! That is sick! How funny it is now how they beg us for their business. Will you buy Mattel toys for your children?
With the toy recalls, tire recalls, food products being made from toys made in china? Does that make you rethink buying other products being made there as well? Now they found un-safe lead levels in bibs for babies? Considering it comes down to the wto enforcing safety standards, why are they being so lax with china and the corporations that outsource to china, especially considering they make over 75% of the worlds toys? http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20070814/china_recall_070814?s_name=&no_ads= http://www.euractiv.com/en/trade/eu-urges-china-crack-unsafe-goods/article-165830 http://chinaview.wordpress.com/tag/social/economy/products/made-in-china/ Thank you Clive, so very true what you say. It has to make me wonder more so why the governments we have are so hypocritical, allow this to go on, yet act shocked when things are going down the wrong path for them like they couldn't foresee it....China in my eyes should not be allowed to trade with anyone until they get there crap straightened out with the way they treat their people (like that will happen)and corporations should not be able to outsource without free trade agreements, I mean there comes a point when someone needs to be held accountable…this is ridiculous. First L, These are my thoughts, as I see you have yours as well. Though can you not express yourself without insulting me? If I get all my info from the media, where do you get yours from? Could I have a link so I can read un-bias information? What you say is true on some levels, though regardless, other countries are regulated by their government, china how so? I do live in Canada not the u.s so the fact that it's all over our news should not be concerning to me? Canada has great relations with china, so why the need to put them in the media spotlight here? The last point that I had made is to put liability on governments that have trade agreements with countries like china and that they need to regulate the way things are done, starting with large corporations. Yes, there are recalls all the time from other countries too, though in Canada we don't have 8 year olds building toys for 5 cents a day. It’s called product quality control. Your right, this has gone on for years....
OMG! Where can I find a list of all the baby toys that were recalled by Fisher Price company for the sake of? my daughter and everyone I know? Will a list of the toys that have been recalled be displayed somewhere? Thxs in advance
Dragon baby toy? I recall seeing advertising a few years ago for a baby toy that was a large dragon, it was either a climb-on or something you could put a baby under with dangling toys. I believe it may have been in the $20 to $40 range when new, made in the last 5 to 7 years, and possibly made by Fisher Price. However, I've never seen anything like this in the store and can't seem to find anything similar online. I recall that I was married when I saw it, but my nieces were already too old for such toys and I didn't have plans for any children. I really thought about buying one then, though, just because I thought the idea was so neat and if I did ever have children, I would want one for them. Now I have a young niece, and was thinking this could make a fun Christmas gift, but alas, I still can't find anything like it. Anyone know what I'm talking about or how to find one?
Baby bottle recall, what are you going to use? With this baby bottle recall, what do you plan on using instead of these plastic bottles? I am kind of timid about glass bottles because my baby likes to throw things and also things get droppped. We wouldn't give a baby a glass toys to play with, so why glass bottles? Is there anything else we can use?
2 Q's, toy recall and peircings......? what barbies have been re-called? also, has there been any recall on american girl dolls or littlest pet shop? please enter as much detail as possible. DO NOT SEND LINKS TO TOMAS THE TRAIN OR BABY TOYS LIKE ELMO AND SUCH. also, what does it feel like to get your belly button peirced? does it hurt really really really bad? does it bleed? when i turn 13 i want it done. was it worth it? does it feel like someone stabbing you? does it hurt to stretch or move? does it hurt after words? send as much info as possible and use as much detail as possible. how old do you have to be to have it done?
who else is very angry and upset over all these toys recalled from china? Does anyone know any websites from toys made in america? I'm afraid that if i get my baby a toy from china she'll get sick from the lead. I just found out that some bibs i got her were recalled.. anyone know where fao schwarz toys are made?
Take a Close look in your kids and babies toy box ! ? I posted this link and just discovered hundreds upon hundreds or recalled toys on this government recall link. I couldnt believe an electronic cat my 4 yr old plays with was recalled because it has contaminated water in it ! WTF ! Who would think of water inside an electronic plush toy ! So please take some time and go through the toybox because this is just plain scary and crazy ! http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/category/toy.html
Speaking of Recalls, Did you know that Old Navy recalled several Baby items? They recalled most of the their stuffed animal toys that have rattles in them, due to the button eyes. I bought the bunny online for Christmas for my baby since it matched a hat and onsie she had, and as soon as I got it I thought the buttons could cause a choking hazard, so I never really let her play with it (she was never fond of it anyway since it was too big for her tiny hands) Mainly it just sat in her car carrier next to her and she never even paid any attention to it and now today I just got an email about the recall that includes pictures and model numbers. http://oldnavy.gap.com/customerService/i... Just thought you guys may appreciate knowing this especially, if you shop at Old Navy. Okay, let's try this again since the link did not work the first time: http://oldnavy.gap.com/customerService/info.do?cid=38868&tid=onemsd154&ev=ONRECALL2192009&di=&cd=_&redirect=true
HUGE Crib recall now? Are you affected? I'm really angry. My son is 16 months old and his crib is among the millions being recalled. So for 16 months he has been sleeping in a crib that could potentially smothered him to death! This recall notice says to "find a safe, alternative sleep environment for their child until the repair kit, with new safety pegs, is safely installed" He's been sleeping there for 16 months! How sad for the parents of the babies that died because they purchased this particular crib. I would have never----ever, even know about the recall if my MIL hadn't emailed me this with her 20 other forwards she sends me daily. Do you keep up to date on baby item recalls? Will you research any lists before shopping for Christmas gifts? http://www.parents.com/baby/safety/toy-recalls/biggest-gear-recalls-of-2008/?sssdmh=dm17.343504&esrc=emrb41008Recall&email=1393510930
Babies R US & Toys R US cribs recalled; is your baby's crib on the list? I just came accross the link of cribs that were recalled by Babies R US and Toys R US: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml08/08312.html I'm wondering if those are the ONLY cribs they are going to recall? Because my son's crib is made by that company; but his model wasn't on the list.
Does your child have toys that are affected by the recent recalls? What toys/products are they? How do you feel knowing that, what is supposed to be safe for our children is in fact not safe? What do you plan on doing to ensure that your childs toys are safe? My 6 month son has the baby einstein blocks (luckly ours are not the batch which is recalled). I am to the point where i dont want to buy ANYTHING that has paint on it, or has been manufactered in China. I know that limits what i can buy, but now you never know what is safe or not.
Toy Recall? Here is an Answer? go to www.webmd.com they have answers and explain more there. August 14, 2007 Toy Maker Mattel Recalls 9 Million Toys Toy maker Mattel and the Consumer Product Safety Commission have announced a toy recall today due to lead-based paint and magnets that may dislodge. This recall includes more than 18 million toys worldwide, 9.5 million in the U.S. See which toys are being recalled -- go to WebMD's report. The person that says lead won't hurt you.....go eat some fishing sinkers, I will come to your funeral. Just put my name on your insurance policy. Why do you think we have soooo many recalls, especially baby and childrens items...from China? There have been so many recalls in the last few years from China. I heard some people talking awhile ago about China doing this on purpose, like some kind of 'attack'. I'm not saying that China is trying to attack us, but I hear it all of the time. People are saying that they are purposely putting lead in toys or 'messing' them up to harm children....are they in a sense 'attacking' us? I am in no way disrespecting China but just questioning what I am hearing. What do you think? It don't matter what country it is coming from either, its just all you hear about is a product being recalled and its always from China. Can anybody give me a legit, good reason as to why this is happening so much? That makes sense? And Im sure all waiters ALL around the world spit in food, especially if you piss them off. I know America wants everything cheapest as possible BUT is it worth our childrens lives? And Im not pinpointing ALL of China, only where the corrupt bad sh*t is! And being sent to the US I though that in order for US to buy them, they HAD to meet our standards. Lead is harmful to ALL infants, not only here, everywhere. You think that all countries would have the same safety standards when its concerning lead.
Baby Bibs Recall? I just found out they are recalling Baby Bibs that is made from China..so far the following stores have been tested postivie for lead and is recalling the bibs: Toys R Us and Babies R Us
What would you do if something you had for your baby is recalled? Well i was just looking at us consumer product safety commission and was looking at the baby recalls and about half way through i came across my sons swing...http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml07/07197.html 2 days ago he discovered that he could lean over the side of it and got stuck and today when i was feeding him in it he kept leaning forward and i kept having to push him back and it was pretty dangerous and i would never leave him unattended in it the only thing i have used it for since he got stuck was for his feedings because we do not have a highchair and i just ordered one and it should be here by tomorrow but in the mean time i am using the swing only for feedings...he is 6 months old and i know he has now out grown it but do you think i should call and try to see if i can get my money back...by the way if you look at the link it says "Sold at: Discount department stores and toy stores nationwide from November 2006 to May 2007 for about $65." and i bought it December 2008 should i try or leave it alone?
Where can I find baby bottles and other products that are NOT made in China? Help! My wife and I are concerned about all the recalls for Chinese made products. We checked and all of our baby bottles are made in China. We do not want to use Chinese made toys or bottles any more. Please help us find alternative products.
Toy recall .... what to do? Does anybody know a place close to Mattoon IL. that sells safe toys, or even a list of websites. Thanks (I don't think I wont to buy the hazardous toys for a baby I'll be having soon, because well babies like to put everything in there mouths.)
Help with baby food? My son has just started solids. He has had carrots for several days now and likes them well enough. However, being a concerned mom, I have a few questions and concerns about baby food in general. How do you feel about baby food in plastic containers? Why did some companies change from jars to plastic? Is it cheaper? With the BPA scare lately, I seem to be a little reluctant to buy baby food products in plastic. I have been searching on here, trying to see which brand of baby food most moms prefer. On almost every post, moms are raving about making homemade baby food (how great it is for baby, how easy it is, etc.). However, I just don't know if I am convinced. I understand that many baby foods aren't organic, but there are strict standards these companies have to follow right? And while many baby foods aren't organic, most foods and veggies people are buying from the store to make their own baby food with are not organic either and in all honesty, are probably grown with tons of pesticides. So unless these moms are making their baby food with certified organic products, how is this better? Look at the salmonella scare we had with the tomatoes recently and also the recalled lettuce a year or so ago. Couldn't this happen to other fruits and veggies as well? So while I understand we don't want to feed our children preservative and pesticide laced foods, what's wrong with the fruits and veggies that only contain that specific fruit or veggie and water? Am I missing something here? Can someone shed some light on this for me? I only want the best for my child, and with the BPA scares, toy recalls, talks of vaccines possibly having negative effects, etc., what is a first time mom to do? Every time I turn around, something that was once good is now bad. Help please!
Does it seem like there have been more recalls than ever in the past few years? on everything from baby toys to food to cars? Maybe I was out of the loop and didn't pay close enough attention but it seems it's a little out of control. Now BMW is recalling cars for brake problems? Suggested category: Family & Relationships > Singles & Dating haha
Anyone own the Baby Einstein Neptune Sea Crib Toy? It was recalled and I am so bummed because my son LOVES this toy.. he is 5 months so all he does is listen to the lullabies and stare at the fish and lights.. but I am going to return it anyways. The recall is a voluntary recall. Does anyone else have this toy and are you returning it? Does anyone have any alternative items they are going to use to compensate? Thanks. Yes, thanks for posting.. sorry I didn't post the recall link. Yes, I have the one with BJ7 on the battery pack. :o( Everyone, sorry I assumed people knew. The item was recalled because the attachments on the back can come loose and be a choking hazard. It is a voluntary recall. Go to http://www.kidsii.com for recall info. and how to get a replacement. You can also return the item to Target without a receipt for a full refund.
Do you know any recall websites? Do any of you know what websites to go to for recalled items? Like baby toys/cribs? I don't understand how there are so many thumbs down, this isn't even an opinionated question!
What is your opinion on recent recalls? Because baby furniture, food, and toys are being recalled for hazards, additives and poisons ~ there are rumors that prices will be higher for many of these products and especially for toys at Christmas (good way to get parents to pay any amount for safety). I want to know why we should have to pay for the abysmal oversight of U.S. companies who are only interested in profits. The only way I would willingly pay more to these companies for their products is if they brought production back to the U.S., paid U.S. taxes so the product safety inspections can be funded at the level needed, and hire American workers again. Also the corporations keep blaming China for everything, but it is the manufacturers who insist on sending work there for cheap labor, do not follow their own safety guidelines for reporting discovered dangers, and instead of paying for the fiascos from profits, charge the consumers. ~ They should stop passing the buck and take full responsibility. What do you think If you don't mind, leave a star so more readers will give their opinions, Thanks
Wooden Toys Or Plastic Toys? Plastic From China May Contain Lead? After over 1 million recalls this year would still continue to by toys that are made in china? What do you think of wooden toys? Recalls: Infantino Sling (owned this) Dora Explorer Toys Baby Einstein Blocks (owned this) Kolcraft Pack And Play Fisher Price Take Along Rainforest Swing Laugh & Learn™ Kitchen Toys Soft Blocks Tower Toys (on Graco® Baby Einstein® discover and play™ Activity Centers) Learn-Around™ Playground Activity Center Fisher-Price Recalls Infant Musical Toy Chair Posing Strangulation Hazard And Tons More I have desided to buy my baby for Christmas only wooden toys. And if I buy plastic I will make sure its not from China. Wooden toys dont have slinters they are made so well that a child can bit it and wont get splinters.
Replacing Water in a Baby Einstein Baby Neptune Soothing Seascape crib toy? So I got a secondhand crib toy for my kiddo this christmas (he's 6 months old and honestly won't remember!) And it's in great shape, but the water is about 3/4 of the way down. I'm thinking that the water might go down even further in the next few years. So - is there a way to 'fix' this? Replace the water? Has anyone tried this yet? And for the record, before anyone asks, no this turtle was manufactured before the recall and is not included in it. It's safe! :)
Why so many recalls on things pertaining to our kids? vaccines, formula cans, toys. You would think the standard for anything related to baby would be high.
Did everyone hear about the latest toy recall? http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09136.html "Various Toys Recalled by CBB Group Due to Choking Hazard and Violation of Lead Paint Standard WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. Name of product: Fishing Games, Rattles, Pull-A-Long Cars, Mini Pull Back Cars, and Cartoon Bubble Guns Units: About 39,000 Importer/Distributor: CBB Group Inc., City of Commerce, Calif. Hazard: The fishing games, baby rattles and pull-a-long cars contain small parts, which can detach and pose a choking hazard to children. The mini pull back cars and bubble guns have surface paints which contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard." This is CRAZY..Shouldn't they have more testing on toys like this?? What are your thoughts on the crazy amounts of lead in our child(s) toys??
Anyone have the Parents Magazine record-a-voice cell phone? the baby toy has been recalled because the metal pin in the flip top hinge comes out and is a choking hazard.
babydoll toy recall question? I bought my little girl a doll from Target for christmas, and the brand name is "circo", and it came with some outfits and stuff, and than the baby that makes crying noises. Last night, my little girl is only 15 months by the way, she brought me her baby and the head had came off of it and it had exposed wires, and so I tried to look up the brand name online, and also on the target website for a recall and cant find anything, and so I don't know if I take the baby back to target with all the stuff it came with, or what I do. this is very dangerous for these wires to be showing for my little girl to be so young and have something happen to her. does anyone know what or how I can contact "circo" to let them know this has happened in case someone else has the same baby-doll
Are the Chinese inhuman that they have tainted baby formula, lead painted toys or as in 2004 children dying ..? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080913/ap_on_re_as/china_baby_formula_recall
All these recalls, how do we know what is safe for our kids? I have a 5 month old and I don't know if anything he is playing with is safe! EVERYTHING is made in China! They are even recalling boys winter jackets due to high lead paint levels. What the hell are we supposed to do? Throw out everything? Is there a way we can find out if the toys our children DO play with are safe? I have some spongey letters and numbers for the bath that my son loves to chew on, but I'm scared because they are made in China. Teethers by bright stars have been recalled, baby einstein building blocks, Barbies! Come on! Where's the site that tells us what IS safe?
Lead in a 11 month old baby? Help? My 11 month old has lead level of 7 the doctor said that up to 10 is normal, but today on the news they said that they just changed it to 5. This was a week ago. I have no idea where the lead could have come from, as the apartment was built in 1960's and the only thing we use tap water for is when I am cooking a soup, and nothing else, at least for the baby. None of the toys on the recall list are or were in our house. She said that we have to wait three months to retest, can I ask her to do it earlier, how soon would you do it? Can I have my house tested to find the source, and how do I go about it? I am freaking out!!!!
Does a "made in China" label make you think twice when shopping for your children? I just read about the new toys to be recalled...and I'm sure it's not over yet by far.. I was shopping for toys for my baby boy however the other day and it's almost impossible to find anything NOT made in China! I guess it's time to go to smaller quality toy stores that sell safe wooden toys etc.. I am not saying everything made in China is bad but unfortunatly I can't know what is and what's not and the safety of my son comes first so I'll avoid "made in China" labelled stuff at least for a while. (I wonder if Mattel can recover from this) How does this affect you?
Should I just save myself the trouble and take all the toys off my baby's registry now...? before they are recalled? I just found out this morning that the Baby Einstein soft colored blocks were recalled, and I'm just wondering what's next.
What is being done to protect our children from lead in/on toys? How can we be safe? What products have lead that havent been recalled? Is my baby putting lead in her mouth at this very moment without me knowing? How can I tell. I bought a lead test kit, but I dont believe it it shows me correct/accurate results. They should have a stand at the mall that after you purchase a toy you can have it tested fo rlead and if it comes up positive it gets reported and you can go straight back to the store and get a refund, dont ya think?
China Toys Recall : Who should be accountable? When I had my baby, I found on ONLINE through Target's product consumer review that Plastic bottles and lead paints were toxic to babies. I couldn't find anything safe for my baby at the store so I went as far as Germany, Austria, and Canada to order safe baby products, toys online. Other European countries banned toxic toys a long time ago. Up today, I can't buy anything at the store because all American toy companies products are made in China. How come we don't make toys? Some blame China, some blame our leader lawmaker, some blame US toy company, some blame the parents/consumer, some blame on our lack of education to make intelligent choice. Some one has to be held accountable for poisoning our children, otherwise it will never change.
Where are the babies whose hips have been ruined by jumping toys? Has anyone here actually experienced their baby's hips being ruined by a Jumperoo or Johnny Jump Up? People always say it will ruin their hips or hurt their legs... but do you know anyone that it's happened to? How long did they leave their kid in the jumper for it to ruin their legs?! Where is the class action suit? Why have the toys not been recalled if they are bad? 10 points for your thoughts......!
Is China responsible for some parents being falsely arrested for Murder? With all of these recalls for toys from China because the toys contain lead, do you think that perhaps there may have been some mothers or fathers falsely arrested if their babies died and the authorities couldn't find the cause so the parents was falsely accused of murder.
Infantino recalls ( Reposting this to let you mommies know )? My friend sent me this yesterday: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09146.html My son has the bug toys and he is going to be so upset that I have to take them away. He bats at them all the time we are in the car. Anyway to make this a question what are you babies favorite toys?
So much to worry about....recalls and such. Anyways what seems to be the best formula? What seems to be the best formula? I see so much to worry about recalls on formula, toys, beds. Wow a bit overwhelming. What seems to be say the top 3 best formulas on the market? Thanks. (expecting baby 1 in Feb) I just want to make sure my baby has the best. Also most reliable brand of diapers? Oh I am in no way comfortable with breastfeeding. i was formula fed and so was my husband and that is how I plan to feed our baby
Crib recalled and store only giving me $50 for it? My Simplicity Chelsea 4in1 crib (m. 8324H) was just recalled and Baby Depot says since I don't have the receipt (from 3 years ago) they can only give me a $50 store credit to replace it which is less than half the price of their cheapest crib! Does anyone know a better solution to replacing this recalled crib? Has anyone had better luck dealing with Toys R Us or Walmart on the Simplicity brand recalls? Thanks for your help!
idea for consumer report project in communications? in our communications class we're doing a "mock new channel" i was assigned to do a consumer report. my idea was maybe doing something about recent recalls? but they're pretty much on baby toys and food brands no one's ever heard of. is there anything more clever i can do with recalls? is there another topic that would be good to talk about? the whole thing only has to be a page long.
All the recall: How do we know what's safe anymore? It's really interseting that I find it hard to feed my dogs or buy toothpaste and know I had to go through my kids toy box and I found all of there toys contand lead. Just what kind of mother am I that I never knew about it? I'm sick about it and now I'm afraid to give my babies any toys. The only thing I can give them is love!!!!!!!
baby tylenol and motrin on recall...now what do i do for my teething baby? ok..so im in a dilemma..baby tylenol and baby motrin are on recall since last week.my son has been teething for almost 2 months now and not one single tooth has come through.ive tried teething tablets and they work a little.ive tried the teething toys..he has nothing to do with them.what else can i try if i cant pick up the medicine that was working for him?...any idea would be such a great help.(cliff note: my hubby and i are stationed in germany so i don't have access to the great shopping centers like cvs,walgreens..and my ultimate fav walmart..so sadly im limited to the supplies they carry on base)...i also heard i cant give him adult orajel to him because of the amount of benzocaine in it..but they dont carry baby orajel here. thank you!..yall have been such a great help.i tried the clove and it worked ..he finally fell asleep (thank god cuz hes been in pain for like 2 hours crying)(just to add...i did everything i could do for those 2 hours to help him..just so you dont think i left my baby in pain or anything on purpose)!.. thank you all again!
If someone "donated" putrid baby items to your front porch What would you do? This girl I befriended had just moved to Washington State with her husband from Arkansas. I having done that once (moving to somewhere I know no one) "knew what it felt like to feel alone. Well I gave her my number about 4 months ago , which was right when she moved here. Two months later she calls asking to hang out and at first few times we "hung out" she was all cool and what not. She has a ten month old and I have a 17 month old so I thought she and I would make good friends. Well one day she calls and says she has been beaten and her husband cheats on her. SHe asks me to come get her son. I do , apprehensively, but still I do. I later have a conversation with her explaining that in her situation its probably best she and her 10 month old go back to Arkansas. SHE REFUSES AND REFUSES. She continues to be cheated on and beten for the last 4 weeks. Well lasteek she says "My parents are coming next friday and we will be leaving Sunday for Arkansas, I will divorce Nick" yada yada yada I said "great" truthfully I was fed up wit her issues , she was practically a stranger to me. Well My mother in law and I were out with my son yesterday and Gabby (the girl) calls to say she wants to stop by to say goodbye. I said I wouldnt be home but I widh her and her son all the best. And you would not believe what I came home to! A walker, A swing, A rocker and a bouncer. Two HUGE boxes of clothes and a play mat. ANd No joke all of it was covered in vomit, food. feces and the like. Just recently she asked if I knew who to donate it to and I gave her a list of local places. She effing left it on my porch. It was sooo putrid I had to use gloves to touch it and I vomited twice. I called several donation places and they all said they dont take baby items because they could be recall risks! She dumped the crap on me! What would you do? I shouldnt have to pack the diseased stuff up and dump it, so Ive taken it all apart and sprayed it down. But I am irate! Should I tell her anything? I cant believe her son played in that putrid toddler toy Hell! SHould I tell her to lose my number? She keeps calling and texting. Mind you, she is 19 , I am 25 .. so to me she seems ridiculous. Her 10 month old is also 14 lbs and wears 6 months size clothes. SHe said "he has always been small and doesnt eat much" When I watched him he ate and ate and ATE! I cleaned it so I could donate it to a mom or dad in need. I would bever give poop covered things to anyone.
What can I do with a recalled bassinet? I just found out that the bassinet we have had been recalled last year. It was a gift to us from a friend whom we do not speak to anymore so we can't return it. I know you can't sell it either. What can I do or is my only option the trash? If anyone knows any more information about who sold it that would be great. The model number is 3012oxf and Babies r us and toys r us did not sell it. Thank you soo much Hannah's mommy. Sorry everyone else, it was a simplicity bassinet.
what toys do people buy? I really don't want anything made from china, I am too nervous with all the recalls. I even swtiched my bottles to the playtex nursers original because they are made in the usa. The cute ones with designs are made in china. :-( Everything is made in china. I am just looking for rattles or bathtub toys, things for an infant. I don't know if I am overreacting. Anyone else concerned with all the toys being recalled? I went into babies r us and couldn't find one toy for an infant that wasn't made in china... "no need to show off"....show off what? I use rattles to play with my baby. Have you ever distracted a crying baby with a toy that makes noise?? I'm not looking to spend lots of money, just toys that are safe.
LEAD POISONING!!! : How long after a child is exposed to high levels of lead can they still be tested for it? My child mouthed a toy since Christmas until they decide to recall it THIS WEEK (over 6 months later) because of high levels of lead in its paint. So if I get her tested next week or the week after, will it still be high in her blood (if it was high in the first place)? I read that if a child, say, eats paint chips as a baby, and the parents discover a learning disability a few years later, the lead levels won't be high in their blood anymore. How long DOES it stay in their blood?
Did u become a germaphobic & ocd wen u had your baby.? I certainly have and its driving me crazy. Whenever my toddler was a newborn i would wash all her clothes n blanket if it fell on the carpet or ground. i washed my hands 10 times a day it seems like. I always spent forever washing her bottles to make sure they were extra clean. Now that shes a toddler, ive calmed down a bit but not much. If my hands feel dirty i feel as tho i have to wash it with soup n water before i touch her things. I wont wash a sippy cup if someone had just finished marinating chicken or if i think the sinks looks dirty. Since the whole lead recall on childrens toy happened. I freak out wen she touches metals thats painted. like her disney table that has painted legs & chairs because she eats on it. Im not sure if its lead free or not & she touches it wen she eats. I feel as tho i was so careful n yet i find out ive been feeding her bottles for over a year that had BPA in the plastics. Now i stress about the plastics that i place her food on. I feel as tho i tried my hardest to keep her away from harm n yet i was giving her those bpa bottles. I just recently realized i wasnt suppose to microwave those plastic bowls n plates sets they make for kids. ive been doing it for 6 months because chemicals leak onto the n damage the plate. I keep thinkin about it n stressing about it on top of ther other things. My hubby thinks im crazy n that i overreact. I think so too! How do i stop this OCD? it slows me down wen i do things & stresses me out like crazy.

In Chinese why are the words for crisis and opportunity the same? Is it because of their sales tactic?. They take advantage of us by putting lead in our baby's toys, then they're all recalled and it puts them in crisis. That's my take on it. I'm part Chinese. I guess crisis and risk are similar. Something big happens....and it could either bring about good, or bring demise
Any mothers worried about Melamine risks? So...I know I ask a lot of questions, but i'm a first time mom, with baby 2 on the way... I can't help it!! =) With all the concerns about Melamine in powdered products it got me worried about my son's health...Is Enfamil baby formula dangerous? If so, what else can I substitute it with? He is 9 months old now...I know that some baby formulas were recalled, but they are still selling the kind he uses (Nutramigen/Hyoallergenic) Are any other moms out there worried? Especially since alot of it is related to babies--toys, foods..etc.. What should I do?! Thank you for any advice you have!! Lo...sorry to worry you but it is good to know... Melamine is a white powdery substance that has been found in many powdered products (baby formula, coffee creamer, etc) sent to the US from China...It is more serious in China-13,000 infants have been hospitalized due to high amounts of this substance...It causes large kidney stones since it is hard to digest, especially for babies...The amounts found in the U.S. are trace amounts, but it's still scary! by the way--thats 13,000 infants in China...sorry Thank you all for giving me more info. I think i'm going to breastfeed my next child (due in may) but for now, theres not much i can do with my son other than watch the news and make sure it doesn't get worse...And he's going to be off of formula in a couple months so hopefully it will be alright...Just wanted to share with you all some symptoms of melamine to look for with your children: * Unexplained crying in infants, especially when urinating * Vomiting * Unexplained fever due to urinary tract infection caused by urinary obstruction * Blood in the urine * Stones discharged while passing urine * Signs of kidney infection * High blood pressure * Flank pain * Kidney failure http://children.webmd.com/news/20081126/melamine-in-us-baby-formula?page=3 Thanks again!
Will you continue to buy Chinese made products for your kids? - Recalls of millions of Mattel toys found to contain lead paint.... - largescale recalls for dangerous parts of toys.... Now deaths of two babies from becoming trapped and died in their cots. (US authorities have announced a recall of one million cots) What next?? I for one won't be buying anything 'Made in China' from now on. Source - http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,22462362-2,00.html

Question about dealing with odd parents? I'm just wondering how people would deal with parents like this, especially if you were about to have your first child in a matter of weeks. I love my parents, don't get me wrong, but ever since I moved out of their house 8 years ago, I've been noticing that they're very embarrassingly rural, hickish, and just downright odd. Examples: -When my husband and I go to visit, my father is laying on the couch with his shirt off watching cartoons. Road Runner, Franklin the turtle, Rocky and Bullwinkle...anything that's on that is a cartoon. And he has slight hearing loss, so they've got a surround sound theater set up, which makes it impossible to have a conversation. Mind you, we hardly ever even have the tv on in our house, let alone on a cartoon channel all day.. and he does have it on all day, I've asked my mother before. -My mother thinks it's appropriate to buy baby toys and such at the dollar store. It's like she doesn't even know about the BPA scare two years ago, along with all the China recalls. She asked what I want for a stroller as she was buying me one for a gift. I gave her the brand, model number, color description, what store it was in, and the price (which was VERY low), so that she could find it on her own. She bought me a whole different brand which cost the same as the other, claiming I was "too hard to buy for". I'd understand this if I was asking for something from an obscure store that she never goes to...but it was our local Wal-Mart for goodness sakes. I still really appreciate the stroller but was annoyed that she thought I was so hard to buy for. If I had been vague rather than very specific, I would have thought I was hard to buy for then. -My parents had their 6' long driveway paved. Fine. But then my father felt it was necessary for some reason to take a roller and paint white lines along the edges of the pavement, almost like he was trying to turn his driveway into a parking lot. -Both of them also smoke, and think it's okay to smoke around me, even though I'm 39 weeks pregnant. Fine, they have a right to smoke, that's not in debate. But when I get up to move away, they actually get mad and offended. -Also they think it's hilarious to make fun of me for how big and hot I am right now, at 39 weeks pregnant, which is horrible of them. -My mother refused to attended the baby shower my mother-in-law threw for me based on the fact that when I had my wedding shower, she claims no one made any effort to talk to her. So she hosted her own separate baby shower a week later. Mind you, my mother and father didn't help with anything on the day of my wedding, and left as soon as the first dance was over, claiming she had a headache. Until that point, she stood outside smoking with my father and older brother. Those are just a few examples. My husband and in-laws think they're a huge joke.. I feel bad for being embarrassed of them, but given the few examples I have, is it really wrong for me to be embarrassed? How would/could you relate to parents whose way of life is so different than your own? I expect a lot of people responding will say that they're my parents and I should love them no matter what...well I do. But embarrassment and love are two different things. I don't feel like I'm better than they are, but I just don't understand them.
if you own the rainforest play yard that was recalled? your local toys r us or babies r us will take it and give you credit towards a new one in the store(if that's where you bought it) or any other place you bought it.. have you returned yours yet? YES I CALL THEM AND TOLD THEM I DID NOT HAVE THE PROOF OF PAYMENT OR THE BOX AND THEY SAID THATS FINE ITS RECALLED BRING IT BACK IN
Is there a baby teether that is not made in China? I want to give her something for her aching gums, but I just can't bring myself to let her stick any China made toys in her mouth due to the last years worth of recalls news. Thanks a lot for the answers so far. I appreciate the links to the toy websites and have found some interesting teethers so far =) I was using Google too, but I guess I was using the wrong keywords. Just to clear it up, I'm not worried about all the toys that come from China, and i know that teethers aren't painted on, so lead paint isn't the concern. My real concern was any plastic pieces that may have any coating on them, because of the story about the Aquadots beads that when swallowed would react with stomach acid and create the date rape drug. I know most teethers are considered just a water filled ring, and thus would probably be fine, but I am looking for something with a bit more texture to it. Sorry I didn't make that clear. The super yummy teether looks awesome! I'll have to check it out. Here is the source site for the Aquadots story... http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/11/08/toy.recall/
Do you believe Obama will win? (Yes or No)? I hope so because I feel so strongly about this: Obama said he wants products made in America. Trusting China for our stuff is sad, yes its cheap, but stopping this will give Americans jobs. A older guy told me once that America was a great place because our stuff was made here. Plus the toy recall should be a wake up call! Plus some weeks ago in China their own powdered milk killed some babies and leaving some with organ damage. Plus he promises to offer teachers more pay,......i'm not a teacher or plan on being one, but they deserve the world! Mccain is really for the rich because he wants to take Social Security pay checks from retired people who then in return still have to work else where because the check I heard is not enough. Plus Obama believes in advancing American like China ia ahead of us car wise....America invented the car and we should be ahead! So will Obama win?
why does America buy stuff from China? I'm really sick and tired of hearing about this. "This just in! toys for baby's contain led!" "candy contains salmonella poisoning" why does everything from China is contaminated? I mean... it's really cheep to buy something from China and have the product in America. wouldn't the price for recalls and shipping back products make us loose money? all I know is "The Hell With China!" sorry, for putting the question.. in the wrong category. :(
Tom Cruise bought an expensive baby-monitoring device when Katie was expecting. A no-no, or no big deal? I think this was a couple months before Suri was born. Anyway, some self-designated expert said the machine should only be used in the hospital in an ob-gyn's office or delivery room - it is not a "rich man's toy". Is there really anything wrong with a wealthy celebrity buying such a device? (I don't recall exactly what it was)
