A baby american robin bird fell out of its nest right by my house. How best should I take care of it? There were four fledglings until this one fell out. I would like to help out, but I don't know much about taking care of baby birds. How should I go about doing this for the poor thing?

Should I care for the baby bird that flew into my door? A few minutes ago, I opened the door to walk my dog and as soon as I opened it, a bird flew at us! I slammed the door shut because I did not want an angry mocking bird stuck in my house! It turns out though that it was just a baby! The mockingbirds have been attacking us lately because I have a dog and they see her as a threat, so I assumed it was another bird trying to fly at us as soon as I walked out of the apartment. (which happens a lot lately.) As me, my dog, and my bf walked back to the door, we saw this baby bird sitting there! I don't know if he was hurt or just shaken up, or if he'll make it or not! My bf said we shouldn't touch it or the mother wouldn't take it back, but it's not like we could put it back in the nest, and we had to pick it up to move it, so we just set it by their tree. If it is still alive and out there, (unless a cat got it or it flew off and is ok) should I try to bring it in and take care of it or does it have a better chance if I just leave it be? Omg! I just walked around the tree my bf set it by, and I don't see it! Maybe I just missed it because I'm kind of nervous about walking under the tree with all of those angry mockingbirds, but I was only a few feet away and would like to think I would've noticed it, so I'm thinking it flew off!
How to take care of baby bird? I have a baby bird that was on the ground, I picked it up with a cloth so my sent wan't on it, I put it back in the nest. It is on the ground again. Any tips about how to take care of a wild baby bird? Well some guy brought a wild baby bird in to the vet clinic I work at yesterday. We've been giving it powdered kitten food mixed with water and it seems to be doing ok with that. We're trying to get it to a rehabilitation center soon. It has feathers and seems to be doing fine. The vet clinic normally never works with birds so we don't know much about what to do. Are there any tips on how to take care of it until we get it some place better? I brought it home tonight, we always keep it in a box with a towel. Is that ok? It's a baby blue jay if that helps. margecutter: We know we need to get it to a person quaified for birds like this so you don't need to be so repetitive. We also already know where to take it, we're just waiting till the weekend to drive up there. As for our clinic taking it, what else were we suppposed to do? The guy didn't want to tae it back and put it where he found it so do we just toss the bird outside? The vet wasn't stupid, she knows baby birds fledge and that if you find one it's best to leave it alone or just watch it from a distance. You answered your question as if our clinic was the one that picked it up from someone's lawn and took it in. Most of your long response was just pointless to the question I asked.

Wild Baby Bird Care Instructions? My teen daughter (an aspiring Vet) found a very small newly hatched bird and since many other children had been around it, she decided to put it in a box and try to take care of it until we can take it to the bird sanctum tomorrow. We are wondering how to take care of it for now. Should we try to feed it? Should we keep it under a heating pad to keep it warm? Please, any ideas would help for the duration of this little guy. This is a baby-baby. We're pretty sure it's a Mockingbird. It has no feathers and if it senses something around, it opens its bright yellow beak to eat.
Is there a bird species where the male bird takes care of the baby birds (by himself mostly)? I have this great idea for a tattoo representing something that recently happened in my life, and I'm looking for a species of birds where the male takes care of the "children" and the female bird doesn't. I don't know if that even exists, but that's why I'm asking :) If they don't exist, I'll go with swallows. Thanks for helping out! :)

How do i take care of a baby bird? We had a huge storm in upstate new york. I went outside and found 4 baby birds in a nest that fell out of a tree. They have a gray body with striped wings and an orange tip on there tails. What kind of birds are these? I named them Fred, Stars, Stripes, and Zephyr. How do i tell males from females? How do we take care of a baby bird we found outside? In our backyard today we found a dead bird.. cats go back there a lot too. Then We saw the mother and a baby bird. The baby bird looked mature but half the size of the mother which was rather large, like a pigeon or something size. Emergency baby bird care? I found a baby bird at the pool that I work at. I'm almost 100% sure it's a grackle, probably almost ready to come out of the nest. He was being attacked by crows and by the time I got to him to scare them away he was all bloody (they had chipped his beak and his mouth was full of blood). We took him to safety and gave him a little water. After a while, when we were pretty sure the birds had cleared, we tried to take him back to the same spot in case there were parents around looking for him, but when we checked on him he was being attacked again, so I brought him home. He's taken a little food (water mixed with crushed dog food and bread, given in an eyedropper) and water. I AM trying to find a wildlife rescue to take him to but I need to know how to take care of him in the mean time. Anything else I should be doing? He's in a lined cardboard box, and he seems to be doing well. He's very alert and chirping. He's not hopping around or moving his wings, so I know he's not too old, and he looks like he's just getting the first round of real feathers, although he's not completely covered. What else do I need to do to keep him healthy until I can get him to a shelter (hopefully tomorrow)?

How do I care for an injured baby bird? I found a baby bird in my backyard a few hours ago. He has a few wounds, and they are seeping a little bit of puss. He was covered in flies, they would not leave him alone, almost as if he was dying. There was no nest around, and I could not leave him there because the flies were literally taking over his entire body. I have him in a box in my garage with some grass. I am feeding him baby cereal, which he is eating quite well. I know this probably isn't the right thing to feed him, but I don't know what else to do. I believe he is dying. Not sure if I can save him, but would love to if at all possible. Any ideas??

Rescue baby bird care? I just found what appears to be a blue jay nestling at my home. I work at SeaWorld, so I'm going to take it in tomorrow morning for them to take care of. I couldn't get it back to the nest as it is 30+ feet up. But what do I do meanwhile? One of the sites I went to suggested feeding it tiny slivers of fruit. So I tried a tiny piece of a grape - it won't open it's mouth. Should I be worried that it's not eating? Thanks everyone for your answers. The bird made it through the night and was very hungry this morning. I was able to feed it lots of tiny slivers of a grape (site I found gave this advice) and I got it into work OK. I work in the zoological operations department of SeaWorld Orlando and yes, the aviculture department will take just about any bird you bring to their door.

How do I care for baby bird found on road? When I came home from school this afternoon, I figured out my sisters found a baby bird on the side of the road all wet after it rained. they said they dried it off and put it in an old "butterfly habitat" we had laying around with sticks, twigs, flowers, and a bowl of grown up bird food inside. I keep on wondering if they did it right. So here's a bunch of questions that come to mind: What do we really need to feed it? How do we feed it? Should we supply water? How do we supply water? When do we let it go? If you can answers any of these questions please do. We are aware that his mother will never come back. He is a little brown bird with mussy fur/feathers. And he keeps on squawking and looking around as if he's calling his mother. Any information is gladly appreciated. I have also thought about feeding it mashed blueberries but decided not to take a chance. Oh my gosh I'm freaking out I think my little sister got it wet again and he looks like he's cold and dying of hypothermia cause he's too cold someone please help! I triend to wrap him up in paper towels but then he started screaming REALLY loudly.
