breast-feeding?

Okay I'm not pregnant or anything and I'm not having sex but I was told this by a friend whose sister is breast-feeding her baby that is losing the baby wieght fast too. She told me that new momthers who breast-feed lose the wieght faster than those who don't. Is that true?

Public Response to breast-feeding?

  1. Yes. Breastfeeding can burn up to 800 calories a day depending on the size of the child and how much it eats.
  2. Yes...you burn extra calories making breastmilk and nursing helps your uterus to contract faster.
  3. yes
  4. For some BUT some women also feel the need to eat a lot (and I mean need literally. It can really drain you sometimes) while BFing so it counter acts it.
  5. Techinically yes... but I have heard many women say, that they are actually more hungry while breastfeeding... so while you CAN loose wieght MUCH faster... you have to control the urge to eat all the time... and since you are sitting a lot to nurse... your body doesn't require near the food that it is thinking it does.
  6. Yes, just another reason to choose to breast feed. The weight drops off quite quickly.
  7. breastfeeding does burn calories yes
  8. it really depends on your body type. If you normally eat a lot and dont exercise but are very skinny, you're most likely to lose it fast. But if you're one of those people that has to watch what you eat and work out three times a week, its better if you watch yourself after the baby is born.
  9. Yes definately, i was back in my old jeans 10 days after the birth of my son which i believe was due to breastfeeding.
  10. Yes, I believe this is true, that it burns 500 calories a day. I gained 38 pounds from my pregnancy, I breastfeed my 14 week old, and I only have three pounds to lose. There are also a ton of other health benefits for both you and the baby when breastfed.
