Can you menstrate while still breast feeding?
I am 6 weeks post pardom and I am breast feeding. I have started to bleed. It seems just like my periord. Could this be? Is this okay? I stopped bleeding from deliverly 2 weeks ago. I did not think you were supposed to get your periord until you stopped breast feeding? Thanks for any advice.

- I had a monthly period for the entire time that I breastfed each of my two kids. It isn't common, but we are 2 of the unlucky ones...lol. But it is a good thing that I had a period, as otherwise I never would have known that I was pregnant again when my daughter was only 9 months old and still breastfeeding
- yes you can get your period while breastfeeding. You can also get pregnant.
- Theoretically breastfeeding reduces the chance of getting pregnant again. However, like trying to use ovulation timing to prevent pregnancy, this is just as reliable. It's only slightly better that taking absolutely no precautions. Anyone who relies on breastfeeding exclusively for birth control will likely end up with a double bonus. On the plus side, you can feed two at once. Better hope the second time isn't twins.
- Well, my sister breast fed and ended with boys 11 months apart so aparently you can.
- yes, you will get your cycle back. The difference is that a breastfeeding mother will usually get their cycle back later than a non-breastfeeding mom. I got my at 8-10wks and was breastfeeding.
