- You jsut have to play some music or sing and he should calm down enough to eat. It will hurt for a while because your nipples will chap. Get some lasinol cream, it works wonders on you nipples and is safe for baby. Don't be afraid to sleep because you need it. Babies cry, it is what they do!
- To nurse your infant while sleeping, which can be done, you simply lay on your side with your infant latched on to the side that is on the mattress - and the sleep deprivation takes over and you sleep. Only do this if you are a light sleeper, and don't let the covers go over your infant either. Waking up becuase he's crying is a good time to switch to the other side. For myself it was my hurting hip that signaled that I needed to turn over, and my son and I would do this all night long from side to side for his first couple of months just so I could sleep more. Or you could set a clock to go off every hour to remind you to switch before he's crying and before you are engorged on the other side.
- It sounds like you have a very new baby, it is normal to only wake when he crys, the pain of him latching on is normal and will pass in the next week or so jt keep trying you nipples are soft and will harden and baby will learn to attach him self. If he refuses I found that trying the other side. (will it hepled for me) Im currently breastfeeding my 8mth old son and breastfeed my other son, first time round it was hard and you just have to stick with it. It will get easier and less painful good luck and keep tyring.
