Does anyone know how to take care of baby owls?

A friend found two baby owls in his backyard and passed them on to me to take care of until they get old enough to release into the wild again. Considering they live that long. I am going to try to keep them alive. One will eat the other won't. Please help!

  1. take them to the nearest zoo they can take care of them better and they need to be tested you cant care for them they are not regular birds
  2. Poisonally I don't give a WHOOT, Alice.
  3. I don't really know much about owls...but I am guessing that you will need to buy like chiken liver, frozen mice, and other meats, grind them into mush and feed them. Good luck.
  4. I found some articles by searching Altavista for "baby owl found care" - http://www.projectwildlife.org/find-birdsofprey.htm http://www.ornithology.com/rehab.html http://www.kn.pacbell.com/wired/fil/pages/listowlsla.html http://www.clarionledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040711/FEAT05/407110324/1023 http://www.torontowildlifecentre.com/pages/programs/wildlife_rescue.html http://www.sun-herald.com/NewsArchive2/060502/tp13ch20.htm?date=060502&story=tp13ch20.htm http://www.hungryowl.org/baskets.html http://www.eswildlifecare.org/tracks/ I'm not sure what country you're in, but I've got a lot of links to wildlife carers in a lot of countries on my site, at http://au.geocities.com/leaswebsite/links.html under "Wildlife Assistance" - just click on them all, have a browse, 'phone them and ask their advice. Very best of luck!
  5. You need to take them to a wildlife rehabilitation center. You are not equipped to care for them. And it's against the law for you to have them in your possession.
  6. What are you feeding them? Are they old enough to fly? Try raw venison and squirrel if you can get your hands on it. Try feeding the one that won't eat with a long pair of forceps that will be more like it's momma is feeding it scraps of meat.
