Will breast feeding and supplementing hurt a baby?
My wife is breast feeding our son but she isn't producing enough milk. So we're feeding him until the the milk is gone but find out that he is still hungry. So we are having to fill him up with formula. Is this going to hurt or affect the baby and would it affect the the woman from producing anymore milk.

- no its perfectly normal..are u sure shes not producing enough..because usually at first it takes a while..but once the baby latches on real good and starts sucking..more milk is going to be produced..make sure she drinks a lot of water..it helps with the breastfeeding..i suggest she keeps breastfeeding its a lot better for the baby and mom...rather than formula...good luck
- yes it will effect milk production, if u give ur baby formula the breast will think it doesnt need 2 produce milk as often so it will produce less milk, so u will feed baby on more formula and its a vicious circle. if ur wife really wants to breatfeed 4get the formulas just breastfeed on demand... i kno its hard, my little one wanted it every half an hour... but it will settle down. if she still thinks she is not produceing enough then she can try and express inbetwwen feeds and this will stimulate milk production and u will also have sum breastmilk 2 store 4 emergancies, there is plenty of literature on this. but trust me stop the formula, its not good 4 baby or for mummy and it will get better. good luck and keep up the good work
