Public Response to what does your baby sleep in when you travel away from home?

  1. we have a play pen, and we found our son doesn't sleep too well in it, but we padded the floor with some blankets... and he slept just fine.
  2. My parents had a portable crib for him when he was younger(around your son's age). Now that he's older(16 1/2 months) and we're staying for awhile(7 weeks) my mom borrowed a crib from my SIL's father that they were not using. If you plan on visiting your parents regularly, or do so already, then try to find a cheap crib that you can just keep there. I brought along my son's crib mattress with me and he seems to sleep tons better with that and a big crib rather than a pack and play or portable crib.
  3. I always put my girls in a play pen. They sleep good in it but when my girls were about 5 months old or so and I didn't have anywhere to put them I just laid blankets on the floor and snuggled with them till they fell asleep and left them where they lay.
  4. We use a play pen as well and place some extra blankets in it (we use it in our camper actually). It has worked really well, but does take a few days for the babe to readjust to it.
  5. My daughter (who is almost ten months) usually sleeps in her pack and Play when were not home, but lately has had a really hard time sleeping away from home. So the last few time that weve been away her and I have ended up camping out on the floor lol.
  6. Your childs crib mattress, sheets, blankets, and pillows from home always worked well for our family. just set it up on the floor next to where you'll be sleeping. It will all smell like home and the familiarity will make the change less difficult.
  7. I have a pack n play that my son didn't sleep in. So I added some blankets underneath the pad which made the bed softer but still has the proper safety pad to prevent smothering. The pad was also covered in vinyl/ plastic. So for that pad I bought a fitted sheet that feels like a blanket from Babies R Us. He sleeps fine now. I guess it was just to hard for him.
  8. We co-sleep at home, so we co-sleep when away from home.
  9. We have the Arm's Reach mini co-sleeper. It's like a playpen + bassinet but mini size. We brought it with us last week when we had to drive 7 hours up north to visit the in-laws. Baby slept fine in it and it's light weight.
  10. We use her pack and play when we travel, she sleeps just fine in it.
