Baby Sleep?

My two month old goes to sleep between 8 and 9, he sleeps without making a sound untill 2, then wakes up for a feeding, then when we put him back to sleep he grunts and squirms the rest of the night in his sleep. Has anyone else's baby done that? when does it stop?

Public Response to Baby Sleep?

  1. Oh some babies do this and it is ok. But he will most likely stop at around 4 to 5 months of age.
  2. My son been doing that since 2months and he is 5 months now and starting to sleep a lil longer.he will go to bed at 7 at night and wake up at 2 and then again at 5:30 to start the day.I have a baby that likes mornings.
  3. My daughter slept the best those first four to six hours, from about 9-2 and then from about 2 to 6 her sleep was not as deep. She had gas as well and did squirm and grunt alot, more so the second half of the night. My husband used to get frustrated with me because the second I put her to bed at 9 or so I would rush to bed to get a solid four hours of sleep. By three months she would wake up at three and sleep pretty soundly until 7, usually. (Then she started teething shortly thereafter, but that's a whole 'nother story) Make sure you burp him really well after the middle feeding. It's hard because you want to get back to sleep and he is probably only half awake but that may be contributing to his grunting. He could have a bubble or perhaps the middle bottle doesn't sit in his stomach as well. You could try putting mylicon in that 2 o'clock bottle to help with gas, or try a special bottle that will alleviate gas better.
  4. At that age he might wake up but not really wanting fed, just let him sooth himself back to sleep. I think he is uncomfortable sleeping with his full belly.
  5. That's very normal. Make sure that you get him/her to burp after the feeding. Keep in mind that your baby is still neurologically a fetus. You may want to try a pacifier. The American Academy of Pediatrics is recommending a pacifier to reduce the risk of SIDS. Are you familiar with Happiest Baby on the Block?
