How long did it take your baby to eat table food exclusively?
My son will be one year old on November 10th. We have been feeding him table food and formula bottles for about 2-3 months now. He is down to one formula bottle a day. He is drinking whole milk and juice from a cup. He eats table food (mashed potatoes, oatmeal, apple sauce, refried beans) but sometimes will only eat baby food. He also won't eat meat of any kind (no matter how soft it is) unless it is baby food meat. I am afraid that he will never eat real food. How can I get him to eat foods with texture to them?

- Kids are notoriously picky. My little guy was FULLY on table food at sixteen months. I skipped the jarred baby food and pureed my own - so I would cook peeled sweet potatoes and mix in another item to get him used to the taste...then I would reduce the sweet potato until it was just the added item he was eating - make sense? One thing I learned is that meat of any kind is an acquired taste for kids - they generally do not like it until later in life (this according to our pediatrician and I accepted this bcz my guy really does not like meat.) Be patient, keep offering the new stuff - a little at a time and do not make a big deal about food. If you can, eat with your little guy - this was the biggest help for me to get my guy to try new things. I would eat a bunch of steamed veggies - or whatever - and sit next to him while he was eating - and he would ALWAYS reach over and grab a piece to try - he still does this.
