How long does your baby sleep at night (when they started to sleep through the night)?
My baby is 8 weeks old, and she is sleeping about and average of 6 to 7 hours straight each night, which i am very thankful for! I'm not expecting her to sleep longer right now, but I am just curious how long other babies usually sleep straight through once they hit about 6 months? Thanks!

- my daughter(seven months) sleeps from like seven at night till seven in the am, started this around five months
- You are incredibly lucky. Experts consider "sleeping through the night" to be 5-6 hours straight. So your baby is already "sleeping through the night." My kids didn't get to 6-7 hours until about 8 months. Sleeping from bedtime to wakeup time straight (that's what I call sleeping through the night) didn't happen until they were 2 years old.
- My son started sleeping about 6 hours a night at about 3 months-he had reflux and I think a lot of times he woke up in pain. He will be 3 in February and still wakes up 1-2 times a night to come into our room. Even if we let him fall asleep in our bed and take him back to his room, he will still wake up and come back to ours. Sophie on the other hand slept 5 hours the first night I had her. She's the best at sleeping. She was sleeping 6 hours at 2 months and 8 hours at 3 months and has been sleeping 12 hours since about 9 months. She's so good at bedtime. I can put her fully awake in her crib and she will sooth herself to sleep or even play quietly. Which is great for me because she's a little princess during the day and needs lots of attention! :)
- Dont worry, I was worried about mine, He had always slept from 11 at night til about 9:30ish in the morning, The dr said to let him sleep.
- Wow you're soooo lucky. 8 weeks and sleeping 6 to 7 hours? Wow! My daughter is 6 months old and just started sleeping through the night 1 week ago. She normally goes to bed around 9:30 and sleeps til 7:30. So about 10 hours.
- Your baby is doing great. She's actually sleeping longer than most children at her age. I know you're not worried, so just be thankful. Doctors consider it sleeping through the night if baby sleeps 5 straight hours. My little one sleeps from about midnight to, 10 o clock in the morning. She is 8 and a half months old. Once baby hits six months, your little one might sleep even longer. But she also, might keep the same schedule. Each baby is just so different.
- My son was about ur sons age when he started sleeping from about 9-10 pm to 8-9 am...he is now almost 2 and sleeping all night even still :)
- My first daughter slept through the night (7-7) at 6 months. My second is a week away from 7 months and up 5-10 times a night EVERY night. I was always able to put both of my babies in their crib awake, with no tears, and they always fell asleep on their own - after rocking and lullabies. But having them STAY asleep was an entirely different story. also, enjoy this while it lasts because it very well may not. You may be lucky and have a great sleeper, or she may change her pattern anytime. Mine slept through until 3 months. 90% of 6 month olds do not sleep through the night.
- If there is one thing I've learned about babies it is the lack of predictability of them when it comes to sleep. Sleep is a very individual issue with babies. Some may begin sleeping through the night only to suddenly stop. Some begin sleeping through the night on their own while others must be 'trained.' At 6 months my daughter was sleeping about 2-3 hours and then waking up. This was AFTER she began sleeping 5-6 hours and only waking one time per night. She got better then worse. At 8.5 months I tried CIO. She went back to only waking up one time per night.
- My daughter's baby is three months old. He sleeps for about 10 hours a night - at first she was worried because it made him so hungry all day and she wondered whether to wake him up! All babies are different, they all settle down in the end.
- Well my son is 5 in half months... he sleeps from 8pm-3am then from 3am-8am.
- My youngest, now 7 months, sleeps from about midnight till 8ish.. depending on his older brothers and sister. If the older ones sleep in, he does too.
- We were lucky at 8 weeks he slept 8 hours and continued doing well, except for a few middle of the night wake ups when he was sick (flu and cold) or growth spurts. At about 6 months he started sleeping 10 hours and now 11 months old is still sleeping 10-11 hours a night. Hope this helps! Best Wishes!
