Baby Movement and the health of my baby?
Hi moms! I am 31 weeks pregnant, and my baby is moving well, I believe. I have done kicking counts and I have never had a quiet time span for too long However, I would say, overall during my whole pregnancy, my baby seems really mellow. He has never been a crazy kicker the way I have heard other women describe their kids. He never seems to be hyper active I know he is moving and all right - so this may be a stupid question, but is my baby's chilled out, occasional kicking style a sign of bad health? Is he not active enough in there? Thanks!
Public Response to Baby Movement and the health of my baby?
- babys are all their own people. they have their own personalities just like us, your baby will probably be the same after born, as far as not really a wiggle worm as long as you are feeling enough movement daily, its normal. not all babys are the same.
- Nah, there's no correlation between activity in utero and health of baby unless there's no movement at all. Since you're doing your kick counts and reaching goal as far as those go, there's no need to worry. My little guy moves all the time, but he rolls and shifts more than he kicks and punches. My best friends sister however is having a horrible time with her pregnancy because she says she feels like she's got bruised ribs and organs, that she can't touch her belly because he begins to pound away from the inside like he's a boxer or cage fighter. I personally am greatful that my little guy is mellow :o)
- The position of the baby has a lot to do with how strongly you feel the movements. My first pregnancy drove me crazy because she was breach with her butt out and I never felt strong movements, just the mellow, relaxed movements. Felt more like squirming than kicking. The OB said it was because of her position. I would cry because I thought something was wrong, but she was fine and is now 8 and healthy and smart as can be. Congratulations!
- well you have reached the point where the baby has most likely have started making its way to the pelvic floor. They do not have alot of room to move around. So your not going to feel them kick as much. However, you should be able to still feel when the baby moves. The baby may not kick as much, but when they do kick is should be stronger than before. As long as you feel 10 fetal movements in a two hour period your fine. Otherwise you should go into labor and delivery and be monitored.
- When my mother was pregnant with my brother William he would never move and her Dr. said that he was just a relaxed baby. The Dr. said there was nothing wrong with him, that some babies are just more relaxed then others. She was always worried that something was wrong, because when she was pregnant with me, I was always moving. The funny thing now is that since the day I was born I have always been quiet and relaxed, and William has always been going none stop. So we completely switched from what we were like when our mom was pregnant with us. So don't worry and just relax and have fun with your last couple weeks of being pregnant. Have a great day!!
- I think I am having a baby just like you LOL! I asked my midwife about it and part of the issue, for me anyway, is that I have an anterior placenta. Do you know the location of your placenta? Mine is anterior and is moving up towards my ribcage so it muffles a lot of movement. I do think that babies can be mellow in utero though. I don't think it has anything to do with a sign of bad health at all! Apparently my brother was a relaxed baby in utero and he was a very relaxed, easy going kid. He's all grown up now and still a happy, easy going guy. Perhaps this means that we'll have babies that are easy going and relatively happy.. let's hope! ;-)
- Hi!! When I was pregnant many women would say "wait til the baby plays soccer with your organs!". Even my mom would tell me that I would kick her so hard that she would almost bend over to get relief. I never went through this. My son would not do anything all day because I had to walk alot. But then at night when I would finally sit down to eat or whatever, he would move and turn every which of way. But he never "kicked the daylights" out of me. I did all my kick counts and I would stop at like 30. Most of the time it's almost like he would poke me with his foot or hand, or run his foot across my stomach. So if your baby of moving more than six times per hour during the peak times when you are still (that's what my Dr told me), then you are fine.
- no it is nothing to worry bout all babies are diff just like all pregncies are different as long as he dont go days without kicking then you are fine. i was the same way with my kids but now they are active as could be but that is because they are older.
- Your baby is fine; Not all babies' movements are the same. I used to get scared to death when I didn't feel my daughter moving around for a long period of time, it was because I was on my feet a lot and just didn't notice it, or because she was sleeping. But she now 3 months old and healthy as can be. Good luck!
