When do you start feeding baby regular food?

I would like to know when you started to give your baby regular food instead of baby food? You can add when you should start doing that. My daughter is 8.5 months old... :)

Public Response to When do you start feeding baby regular food?

  1. between 7-9 months
  2. after 6 months you can start with veggies
  3. I started around 1 year old. I gave him what we eat but sometimes it has to be modified a bit. Just cut the food into small bites
  4. after they have teeth and can sit uop well and can eat soft foods without choking
  5. i feed my kids smashed carrots and smashed sweet potates at 4 months. once a day first and when they turned 5 months then i introduced them to cerelac and such solid foods
  6. you should between 7-8 months.
  7. depends on its age......i started around 5-6 months. more like mushed up banannas, applesauce, mashed taters, nothing hard of course..small small pieces of french fries.. if they try to chew or mash their food with their toungue i think they can start to handle smaller portions of soft food.....
  8. I have 2 daughters and I started around 31/2 to 4 months, if they are ready for it they'll take it if not don't push them
  9. I never gave so-called "baby foods" to my kids at all. It's healthier to wait until they are ready for something besides breastfeeding, then giving real food instead of mush. Food is tastier and more nutritious, and isn't subject to manufacturing errors. When's the last time you heard carrots recalled? With most of my kids, it was about 10-11 months old, but some babies are ready earlier; generally, babies are ready for food between 6 and 12 months old.
  10. u can do that any time u feel he can chew it.if he have enough teeth to smash it why dont u start he is old enough. avoid eggs and yougert till he reaches a year old. good luck
  11. my son is 9 months old and pretty much eats what we eat with a few exceptions..On thos days I give him gerber graduates meals...
  12. I never ate baby food. My mother always took "regular" food and put it in the blender. Less sodium.
