Is Mirena ok to get while breast feeding?

I am breast feeding my son and I am planning on doing so for a year, is the Mirena IUD safe while breast feeding?

  1. yes, my sister had it in for the whole year she breastfed her baby.
  2. Yes, it's a good method to use during breastfeeding. (Very low dose of hormones, and highly unlikely to have any effect on the milk supply. And nothing to think about -- a real positive for a busy, tired new mom.)
