What happens to your breast after pregnancy and breast-feeding?

I have been reading about how during pregnancy your breasts will become larger to prepare for the baby. I am assuming they stay that size during breast-feeding as well, right? After your body is back to normal, and you are no longer breast-feeding, what happens to your breast? Do they shrink back up, or stay the same size? How will they feel and look?

  1. Yes of course, the most size increase is after birth while you are breastfeeding (because the milk is there). That goes away, and the increased size of the milk glands too. Whether they retain a little more volume than before, or becomes smaller (slightly deflated) is very individual. I have heard every combination of that. But of course they would have become more mature and "motherly" in any case. Breasts that have given milk are generally very beautiful - although not in the the "teenagey" way, like stiff and standing straight out ;o) You shouldn't hope to achieve something special - just do it, and see what happens. Then it is nice.
  2. I was a 36C before becoming pregnant. I grew to a 40 D during pregnancy and breastfeeding. I breastfed for two years. I am still a 40 D today. I still have full breast and not saggy (any more than a normal woman of 49 years old) Everyone is different. I have heard the following saying ' The rich get richer and the poor get poorer' meaning if you were big (breasted) when you started your pregnancy, you will get bigger and if you were small (breasted) before, unfortunately, you may get smaller. Seriously though, in the grand scheme of things, does it really matter?♥♥
  3. well the breast will swell with breast milk. so the breast will change size over the course of breast feeding.
