How much would it cost to take my baby to the health department for an ear infection?
A couple of my family members think my baby has an ear infection and they tell me that I need to take her to the Dr. I don't have insurance up in NC yet but I heard the Health Department provided services for babies. I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not they would be able to diagnose and help me fix an ear infection and how much it would be. Please and thank you. It's not like I'm not going to take her to be treated. I know that's the most important thing, I was just wondering about cost.

- Sick baby visits are usually not done at the health dept. The only way to find out for sure is to call them and ask. Heath departments usually only provide screenings and immunizations.
- no matter the cost you should get ur baby treated
- Cost should not be your concern.
- take your baby to the ER now!
- Well, your number one concern is to get the ear checked out. Take them to the ER and ask if their is a free clinic or something you can take your baby to. If the little one does have an infection, you'll need to pay the total fee for the antibiotics.
- My guess is that there are health care clinics, but I don't think that would address your current problem. For low cost care, either find a free clinic or try an urgent care center. Less costly than an ER and certainly appropriate for your issue. I found a page of links for that and put it below. Another option is Minute Clinics or similar. I put a link for that as well. The cost is even less here if there is one close by. They can issue antibiotics.
- Why on earth did you have a baby if you don't have medical insurance?! That is very irresponsible!
