How long can you store baby food in the fridge?

How long can you store it opened before it goes bad? I usually feed my son something different for lunch and dinner and then the next day I feed him the same thing he had yesterday for lunch and dinner. I put the opened can of baby food in the fridge and microwave it next time im ready to use it. Is this safe?

Public Response to How long can you store baby food in the fridge?

  1. It's only good for one day...if you reseal the can/jar.
  2. Its safe as long as it wasn't previously microwaved and refrigerated and then microwaved again in the same jar. If you take some out of the jar and microwave it and refrigerate the rest, then that should be fine.
  3. 2-3 days after being opened is usually safe. It should say right on the jar label. But if you feed him straight from the jar, don't save it. Anything that has come in contact with your baby's saliva isn't safe to reuse because it breeds bacteria. So put the amount you need in a seperate dish before serving it to him, put the leftover food that hasn't been touched in the fridge and you can reuse for a couple days! Hope this helped!
  4. it said on the jar i think......if not id say like 2 days if im correct. i read it some where.........hope it helped...
  5. Once open the baby food, you can store it in the fridge up to three days. But once you put the spoon in the container, then in your baby's mouth, then back into the container... you should not store the rest of the baby food. because germs can grow. Just make sure to use it within 2-3 days once the seal is opened and keep them refrigerated. You don't have to heat them.
