How long is jar baby food good for if unopened?
I am pregnant and thought about buying some baby food now to stock up but am not sure how long it is good for? Does anyone know? I don't want it to be unhealthy obviously. Thanks in advance.

- check the expiration dates before you buy them, it will give u a good idea on how long they last =]
- Look on the container. Each container has an expiration date that is based on the fact that you are keeping the jar in a cool dry place. If you store your food above the stove or sink, your food will lose nutritional value much faster. I would hold off on buying the baby food and just put money in a jar. Most people don't start giving the baby solids until they are at least 4 months old. By then, you will likely have learned to make some of your baby's food anyway.
- you honestly don't need to stock up on baby food ....your baby will not need it for 4 months and then just rice cereal..for the first month..
- I would not buy the baby food because you do not know what your baby will like. Also you will probably make your own baby food, its easy, cheaper and healthier.
- Lots of the jars last for at least a year or two but the date is very visible to see when you look at the jars. It wouldn't be a bad idea though especially if it's on sale! :)
