  1. Most of doctor do a 20 weeks ultrasound to measure and check everything with the baby! Its also more accured to know the baby sex by then! :-)
  2. I guess it depends me and my girlfriend are having a boy in September and our first ultrasound we were told everything looked good and the same as all of our visits to the doctor. Our last ultrasound at 20 weeks they told us that the child has dextrocardia where the heart is mirrored in the body. Should not be a problem but they were unable to locate the septum in the heart so we are now going to a specialist in a week, Im hoping all is well. I guess it depends on what it is that causes it. Even with this congenital heart defect there was still no abnormalities with the heart beat. Good luck!
  3. I'm not really sure exactly what you're asking but basically at anytime after like 6 or 7 weeks you can see if the baby is ok (has a heartbeat and whatnot)...later in pregnancy, like in the second trimester, they can check for other things like downs syndrome and proper development....
