How long does baby sleep in bassinette?
How many weeks or months did you keep your baby sleeping in the bassinette and when you finally moved baby into crib did you use one of those sleep positioners where it keeps them on there back so they dont roll?
Public Response to How long does baby sleep in bassinette?
- for 3 months (untill he reached his weight limit) - then moved him to his crib. No sleep positioners, if he can roll over on his own - he is safe to sleep on his stomach.
- I slept my baby girl in a bassinette until she was 3 months old....most re safe up until around 4-6 months, but it all depends on the type and active your baby is! I made the transition early as my baby was very long and was rolling over, and almost sitting up, it was getting unsafe to sleep in the basinette. The jury is out on the sleep positioners, so i wouldnt use one its unecessary, a baby that can roll over should be able to lift its head and if u are following sids guidelines and having nothing like bumpers and quilts then the baby should be fine without a positioner! hope this helps goodluck
- My son slept in a bassinet until he was too big for it. I then moved him to the pack'n play and then to the crib. He couldn't handle the crib after the bassinet, so I transitioned him. As for the sleep postioner, it's really not needed. He'll stay on his back until he starts rolling over. By then, if he can roll himself over, he can get back on his back if he wants and it's okay for him to sleep on his stomach at that point. Always put a baby to sleep on his back, but if he rolls himself, it's okay. Good luck!
- My baby slept in her bassinet for the first two months. Once she got too big for it I placed her in her crib. I did buy a sleep positioner but only used it about 3 times and stopped when I read that they were not recommended and have been known to suffocate children if they are not able to move their face away from the wedge.
- I didn't keep my daughter in a bassinet for too long because of her weight. (She came out 9 pounds and steadily gained weight.) I didn't use a sleep position-er. Instead, I rolled up my t-shirt from that day and put it behind her back. That way, she could smell my scent and sleep more soundly. This was back in 1991, so I'm not sure what the currents rules are for sleep positions for babies. You need to ask your pediatrician for advice.
- My girl slept in a cradle until about 2 mo. and then we slowly introduced her to sleeping in her own room in her crib. She took quite well to it, she does nap in a bassinett downstairs sometimes but will also nap in her cradle. I did not use sleep positioners...not really necessary and much more of a danger than anything. If your child is old enough to roll, they're probably okay to roll.
- until he could no longer fit in it (about 4 months old).......then we moved him to his playpen because his crib is upstairs and it is entirely too hot for him to sleep up there but he only slept with a sleep positioner until he was about a month old.....
- Most people allow their baby to sleep at bedside until the baby reaches the weight limit suggested on the box. A sleep positioner is recommended until infant call roll and hold their own head up. Usually around 4 months. Have you thought about cosleeping? It reduces the chance of SIDS. Is a great bonding experience and promotes better mental health in the long run.
- My son will be 6 months on the 14th and still sleeps in his moses basket in our bedroom. We have been thinking of putting him in his own room when he does turn 6 months purely because we tend to disturb him when we go to sleep and he would probably sleep more peaceful in his own room. We will start putting him in his cot as soon as he gets to big for the basket but for now I think we will be ok for another few weeks :) As for the rolling - if he can hold his head up by himself then he should be fine. I do get worried about him covering himself with blankets and not being able to breath so we only use a baby sleeping bag and no blankets which give us peace of mind.
- I kept both by kids in one until a week before I went back to work. I then began to move it further and further out each day until they were in their own room in their crib by the time I returned. (about 8-9 weeks)
