- As long as you keep putting them in there. You don't need to use a cradle or bassinet. I put my baby in her crib right from the first night home.
- About 3-4 months.
- My baby is now 9 weeks, she was in her crib by 4 weeks. She is so long that her legs kept hitting the sides and waking her up.
- my son just out grew his at 6 months old he is now in a crib in his own room :(
- my son is 4 months and since i don't want to leave him upstairs in his crib for naps during the day, he still has a bassinet downstairs in the living room. i think its ok to have them in there until they are too big for it or are able to try to get out of it.
- It depends on the baby & the bassinet/cradle. The instructions should have guidelines & weight limits. My daughter slept in her bassinet right next to our bed for about 5 months. Ours had a weight limit of 15 or 18 pounds and after they could push themselves up on hands & knees.
- It depends on the bassinet. My son's is only good up to 15 pounds, and at 10 weeks old, he's already 14 and a half pounds, so we are starting to transition him to his crib.
- there are weight limitations on both of those. just check to see if the baby is too heavy. the limitations should be printed on a sticker on the side.
- My son slept in his cradle until he was 5 weeks. He only ever woke up once a night so we decided to put him in his crib when he was taking a nap to see how he liked it. He did. Normally at night when i put him down for bed in his cradle he kicks around and flails his arms (but he always does that anyways) but when I put him to bed in his crib the first night he was amazingly calm and fell right to sleep without the legs/arm movement. I dont know what it was but he was always more content in his crib than in his cradle.
- Simple rule - when they look like they are outgrowing it, then put them in a cot. A friend of mine had her son in one till he was 6 months. He was a small baby but you just have to play these things by year. If you are worried about buying it and not getting much use from it (as what happens with a lot of baby gear) bypass the bassinet and go straight to a cot. I did. When I wanted my baby to stay closer to me, I would put her to sleep in her stroller. She liked it.
