When can baby sleep with pillow and blanket?

When is it considered safe to put your child to sleep with a pillow and blanket? I have a 10 month old baby and I never have put anything in his crib... I was just curious as to when most start Thanks everyone!

Public Response to When can baby sleep with pillow and blanket?

  1. I didn't give my daughter a pillow until she went into her toddler bed. and it was the thinnest pillow I could find. She still sleeps with it. My son is 4 months old and sleeps with a blanket, has since he was born.
  2. my son is 14 months and still no pillow unless it's a short nap and i am right there- i dont usually sleep with a pillow though either
  3. I think he's old enough now. I can't remember when I started with my son, I think it was around that age.
  4. When a baby can seat up alone, roll on its back and front but I never gave my children a pillow until they were 2 years old
  5. I would wait until after a year. My son will be a year next month. The pediatrician said nothing like a pillow or blanket until after one year and still to procede with caution.
  6. According to the baby books and doctor's advice, babies should not sleep with pillows, crib bumpers, bedside rails, or any loose articles of fabric (pillow-cases, blankets, crib sheets, oversized clothing) until at least 2 years of age. Even then, using pillows is not recommended until the age of 5 or older because a baby or toddler can roll over and suffocate his or herself. Hope this helps!
  7. I believe it is "supposed" to be once they are out of the crib, however my son loves his green blanket since he was born.
  8. when they go into a toddler bed. No pillows or blankets in a crib
  9. when he/she is in a toddler bed!
