Is it ok for a baby to sleep in a Pack n Play at night?
My baby sleeps on a Pack n Play at night. I bought him one of the mattresses that fits a Pack n Play. Cribs are so much more expensive. Is it ok for him to sleep in one or should I buy a crib?

- Mine sleeps in one, but he's only a month old. I think it's perfectly fine, but you must be sure that it supports his weight. It should have a warning with it about how much weight it can support, this is very important.
- He is fine. As long as there isn't any space between the mattress and the sides.
- Just no pillows or stuffed animals in there at all.
- Mine did until he was 1 1/2. It is fine.
- I'm going to have my baby sleep in a pack and play that has the bassinet attachment for the first couple months once he's born but then I will put him in a crib. You can find a good crib at Target or Target.com for $250 and it's one of the stages cribs that will grow with your child and turn into a bed when it's time for a regular bed!
- I don't see any reason that it is not ok-they are not much different then a crib-and yes cheaper. When he is older though I would consider either a crib or a toddler bed by age 2.
- It should be fine. The mattress is harder and may make your baby sweat due to the plastic. Make sure you are using it correctly and that it is not a recalled version. Also don't leave the changing table on top if you have a detachable one.
- He should be fine. I work at a hotel and that's what we have for baby cribs for guests to use.
- my babies sleep in them when we go somewhere.
- Two of my kids did the pack-n-play thing at night too. Lots of people do. Don't worry about it as long as it has a tight fitting sheet and no holes in the mesh once he gets old enough to poke his fingers in them.
- Honestly my kids slept in a pack and play since they were born. My dausghter was in one from 6 months on cuz there crib was recalled and my son was in it from newborn on. Dont waste the money on something they only sleep in.
- For a short term solution a pack and play is okay, but a crib would be better because regular crib mattresses are firmer and fit more tightly. Check the want ads in your area, you should be able to pick up a good crib for a pretty good price and then just get a new mattress. Target has some good ones that really aren't terribly expensive. Matter of fact when we were looking last summer we found a crib at Target online that was only 99.00.
- I think it's fine, if what's you have to get by. Just be sure there isn't any cool drafts when he's asleep down in the lower part.
- Hi there, The pack and play should be fine. My daughter has her crib, but sleeps in a pack and play when we go somewhere. The mattressees for the bottoms of the play pen are pretty good. The one we have fits VERY tightly, no way would a baby ever roll between the sides and the mattress, and it's a pillow top, so the support is there.
- The Pack N Play is a crib right??? So whats wrong with him sleeping in it? My daughter has a Pack N Play with the mattress and everything and she sleeps in it...Regular cribs are expensive...
- It's ok for now. He will outgrow it faster than a crib though, because they are smaller, and you will end up buying oa crib anyway.
- Some familys are so destitute that the baby has to sleep in the box the big screen TV came in.
