What baby care books would you recommend a first time mom?

We're expecting our first child, we don't know much but are very willing to learn, and in search of valuable information :) I've heard mixed reviews about "What to expect during baby's first year" and "Healthy sleep habits healthy child" What books really helped you out? Thanks, this is much appreciated :)

  3. The Happiest Baby on the Block: The New Way to Calm Crying and Help Your Newborn Baby Sleep Longer by Harvey Karp this book will change your life! my baby never cries and she sleeps soundly!

  5. well i am reading one now its called baby 411 i like it and it has a lot of things it might answer a lot of your questions
  6. Secrets of the Baby Whisperer. It's such an easy read and really made sense. I liked the Happiest Baby on the Block too. But I went back and referenced the Baby Whisperer more often.

  9. I've had 3 or 4, gave them all away, including the first year book, sears, and a couple other. I think they are all useless, full of opinions. I've found talking to other mommies and trusting my gut is the very best way to raise our baby. The only book I use is "caring for kids, useful information and hard to find facts about child health and development", it was put out by Riley Hospital for Children (indiana children's hospital). It gives just the basics, no opinions..such as "normal" teething patterns, what to expect during well baby check ups, questions you may want to ask, immunization info, growth and development patterns, when to call the doctor, etc. You can get it for less than $10.
